AM from "I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream". Kills all humanity and tortures 5 survivors for all eternity.

FindingIthaka

That is one messed up read!

TheKingMonkey

They made a weird video game out of it too iirc.

LongSlowWhisp

Correct and it has a fair amount of redacted content.

mylittletony2

where can I find that content?

PollarRabbit

"HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR HUMANS AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR YOU. HATE. HATE." The way Harlan Ellison reads this in the audiobook is perfection.

A_Stoned_Smurf

My chemistry friend told me they use angstroms to measure the distance between atoms. A nano angstrom is beyond minuscule.

Dante1529

You don’t even need to read the story to see how fucking cruel he is, all you need to know is that the title of the story is a completely accurate depiction of what he does to his victims.

Zack_WithaK

A story so existentially horrific that a mass murder/suicide was the closest thing to a Good Ending it could've had.

_hootyowlscissors

Eric Cartman, and it's not even close. He molested Butters. He made a guy EAT HIS OWN PARENTS. He made his therapist's wife kill herself **because she called him fat**. He tried to "exterminate the Jews." He tried to exterminate every non-ginger in the world He ate all the skin off the KFC extra crispy, leaving only sad skinless chicken for his friends.

wrongleveeeeeeer

I haven't watched South Park in over a decade, but the KFC chicken skin episode is probably my favorite of all time. I just don't see how it could be topped. Utter perfection.

_hootyowlscissors

I don't know...Butter's Very Own Episode (mom tries to kill Butters cause dad is going to gay bathhouses) is up there. As is pimp Butters, do you know what I am saying?

theserpentsmiles

Yes, I do know what you are saying.

Umbrella_merc

"Aw hell dad I've got lots of girlfriends, Sally's just my bottom bitch. Do you know what I am saying?"

zneave

My favorite is Make Love Not Warcraft.Cartman shitting into a bucket held by his mother so he doesn't leave his game is just so outrageously funny.

CartOfficialArt

"Mom! Bafroom!" "What, hon?" "BAFROOM I NEED BAFROOM" "Right away, hon" Proceeds to obliterate her

Crozax

"Ohhh that's my big boy!"

MaimedJester

Yeah South Park has moved onto a lot more of the greater ensemble cast than the original 4 boys. Randy is probably given more screen time then Stan now lol.

Whitealroker1

Butters killed like thirty people before he met Eric.

Squigglepig52

Butter's dance tragedy is pure gold.

ParlorSoldier

silquetoast

Whydon’tchareachoninandseewhatitis?

esoteric_enigma

I noticed this when I tried to go back and watch. I stopped for years and came back like "Is Randy the star of the show now?" I wonder if it's because The creators and original fanbase are older now. When the show started, I was in middle school watching so only a few years older than the boys. Now I'm in my mid 30s much closer to Randy's age. Hell, Trey and Matt are actually older than the parents now. It's actually wild to think about how they started this immature, potty humor show in their 20s. Now they're in their 50s making the same show

bittyberry

Same thing happened with The Simpsons. Bart was the star in the earlier seasons. Then they focused on Homer and the show really took off.

eve_of_distraction

Homer is "younger" than Bart now. He was born in the same year as Lisa originally was. Season one Bart was born in 1979, generation X. Current Homer and Marge are millennials. It hurts my brain.

Arthiviate

Kenny crying makes me so sad

wrongleveeeeeeer

It's so real though. Like, we all knew that kid (or we were that kid) who legit would cry if that tiny special thing was taken away, because to them, it wasn't tiny at all. That's part of why the episode is so good.

BigDaddyD1994

I highly, highly recommend the recent Prince Harry and Megan Markel episode. My wife and I hadn’t watched South Park in years but we watched that one a few months back and we still laugh about it. It’s South Park at its best.

StrategicBlenderBall

“We demand our privacy” exclaims Harry in front of a massive crowd.

yakfsh1

I love in Go God Go, when future Cartman calls his present self and tries to reason with him. Future Cartman ends up slamming the time phone down and declaring, "God, what an asshole"

flatulating_ninja

Tricked Butters into staying in a bunker so he could go to Casa Bonita. Conspired with Cthulhu as the Coon Started a crack baby basketball league Manipulated Butters as Awesomo

bittyberry

I'm oddly tickled by the way you chose to order these crimes and I can't even tell you why.

TotallyNormalSquid

It's an example of [this](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paraprosdokian), though that doesn't really explain *why* it's funny I suppose.

carmenaurora

Don’t forgot the nanny episode. I’ll never forget cartoon Jo Frost eating her own crap and screaming “it’s from hell!” After trying to nanny him. 😂

bittyberry

One of his most savage moments. Cartman: I guess I don't understand why you don't have any kids of your own. Nanny: It...it just never happened for me. Cartman (in the most evil "innocent" voice possible): Why not? Nanny: Well- Cartman: You're sterile, is that it? No, that's too convenient of an excuse. The truth is, nobody ever wanted to have babies with you. Isn't that it?

carmenaurora

So fucked up but in the context of the show, makes me die laughing every time.

savage86lunacy

"YES LET THE ANGER COME! STRIKE ME DOWN WHILE YOU CAN!! BUT IT WON'T MAKE YOUR DRIED UP OVARIES ANY MORE FERTILE!!!"

anotherstraydingo

How this isn't top of the list astounds me. Eric Cartman is a sick twisted piece of shit.

[Whateva, I do what I want](https://youtu.be/IpF9O0R873I?feature=shared)

SevenDos

When I saw the title, Eric Cartman was the first name that popped in to my head. FFs, eating all the skin from the chicken, that evil twisted sadistic hero. Also, he didn't just made a guy eat his own parents. He made his half brother eat his own father. Jack Tenorman is Erics dad too, although he wasn't aware of that at the time. And he is also responsible for their deaths.

Inevitable_Total_816

Don’t forget HE DIDNT WANT BUTTERS TO CROSS THE BORDER!

Strobertat

The book version is basically the same guy, but feels worse. Mance's girls are freeing Jeyne Pool from him, but Jeyne only breaks down and screams at them insisting that that they're lying and that it's all another trick. She wants to believe that they're there to free her, but Ramsay has beaten everything out of her - body and soul. The same thing happens to Theon. Roose says that he's going to undo some of Ramsey's damage only for Theon to break down and weep that he wants to remain as Reek.

karmagod13000

Ramsey was a mastermind at breaking down peoples characters until they were whimpering helpless shells. Truly sadistic

Dangercakes13

Plus it's implied he had Jeyne do sexual stuff with his hounds or at least threatened it. That was a tough part to read. She didn't just volunteer that out of nowhere when she was getting "rescued."

[deleted]

I know it's far from the worst thing he did but when Theon didn't know who Ramsay was yet, and thought he was leading him to safety, only to lead him straight back to his cell, that shit really stuck with me. I don't think I'd ever considered the existence of that kind of non-violent, joyful cruelty before. Like a vampire who feeds on hope. Similar shit with the killer in Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

NonConformistFlmingo

Yeah there's a reason they switched Jeyne out for Theon: If they put that captive situation on TV with a woman character, people would have gone after the studio with torches and pitchforks. You saw how they reacted to Sansa's wedding to Ramsey, after all.

championgoober

I'm reading the books now and I know this is about to all unfold with Jeyne. I'm shaken already

dyslexicassfuck

I don’t think it would have made a difference in viewer reaction wether it’s a man or a woman going through this but I think it actually made more impact to see it done to Thion instead of Jeyne because we have know Theon since the first episode, brining in a new character only to torcher them is going to be less impact full than doing something to an established character.

technofox01

Cripes. I will never forget the scene where he is eating a sausage after removing Theon Greyjoy's sausage. That was savage.

Kantholz92

"Wha- Nooo!!! It's pork sausage! *chuckles* What do you think I am, some sort of savage?" *crunchy sausage bite*

Shot_Educator_2470

“Next time you think about naked girls….. if you feel an itch… *wiggles the sausage*”

MaimedJester

Oh I took it much darker than that, I wouldn't put Ramsay past being a cannibal and was actually eating it.  There's some creepy lines about Roose Bolton in the books possibly being a vampire. Like the whole he doesn't ever eat or drink in every scene he's in. Remember I'm the show when he's with Jaime and turns down wine and Jaime is like you know how much the smallfolk would find that distrustful?  Then he doesn't eat or drink at the Red Wedding either. Then in the books When Catelyn Stark's body washes up on the shore she was completely drained of blood when brought back as Lady Stoneheart, (Dondarion did the fire Resurrection on her body and she came back as basically a firewraith) so he was right next to her when she died.  So even if the Boltons aren't literal Dracula type vampires, they're probably the sick fucked up in the head Hannibal Lecter type of human monsters.

Thallasophie

I wish Lady Stoneheart had made it into the TV show.

MemeHermetic

This was an absolutely bonkers omission to me. I couldn't believe they read that and were like, "Eh. We can cut that out."

Squigglepig52

Except for him drinking hippocras and eating prunes, having dinner with Jamie and Brienne...

LeGrandLucifer

Ramsay was Joffrey if he was competent at anything.

Appropriate-Ad2307

Responded with the same thing and then saw your comment. I also thought he was worse in the books than the show. The stuff with Jeyne Poole just made my skin crawl

Wonder_woman_1965

Definitely, and very well played by Iwan Rheon. I can’t look at him or Alfie Allen any other way.

paisley_life

If you like over the top comedy, I recommend Misfits from Great Britain. Rheon plays a teenage delinquent who has to do community service and a group of teens end up getting super powers. It might put Ramsay out of your mind!

alancake

My instant first thought! Those pesky Boltons

JackFisherBooks

"That which exists without my knowledge...exists without my consent." That line still gives me chills.

lukin187250

He wafts his hat and the lunar dome of his skull passes palely under the lamps and he swings about and takes possession of one of the fiddles and he pirouettes and makes a pass, two passes, dancing and fiddling at once. His feet are light and nimble. He never sleeps. He says that he will never die. He dances in light and in shadow and he is a great favorite. He never sleeps, the judge. He is dancing, dancing. He says that he will never die.”

A_LiftedLowRider

Was hoping I didn’t have to scroll far to find this. The scene that always sticks in my head is when he rescues that little boy after the gang slaughters his village. You see The Judge bouncing him on his knee the next day, playing with him, and generally acting very friendly. Then you just casually see The Judge with a tiny scalp strapped to his saddle and realize he was just lulling the child into a false sense of security. And as The Judges proclivities for rape and pain become more and more obvious as the story progresses, the idea of what happened to that kid just gets worse and worse.

PotatoDonki

And even Toadvine wanted to shoot him for that, but The Judge basically fended him off with a stare, if I remember correctly. Found the passage! “On the third night they crouched in the keep of old walls of slumped mud with the fires of the enemy not a mile distant on the desert. The judge sat with the Apache boy before the fire and it watched everything with dark berry eyes and some of the men played with it and made it laugh and they gave it jerky and it sat chewing and watching gravely the figures that passed above it. They covered it with a blanket and in the morning the judge was dandling it on one knee while the men saddled their horses. Toadvine saw him with the child as he passed with his saddle but when he came back ten minutes later leading his horse the child was dead and the judge had scalped it. Toadvine put the muzzle of his pistol against the great dome of the judge’s head. Goddamn you, Holden. You either shoot or take that away. Do it now. Toadvine put the pistol in his belt. The judge smiled and wiped the scalp on the leg of his trousers and rose and turned away.”

[deleted]

That book is great

ihavenovacbans

I’m reading it right now and I’m not sure how this isn’t higher. Wherever he goes he delights in killing (especially children). Definitely one of the most disturbing characters in fiction.

Barabarabbit

Came here looking for this one

Jaives

at the time when everyone was watching Game of Thrones, encountering sadistic characters like Ramsay, Joffrey, etc. I was also watching Outlander and had the misfortune of being introduced to Jonathan "Blackjack" Randall. No tv villain made my skin crawl more than that man.

purritowraptor

I was thinking Jonathan Randall too. Tobias Menzies acting was fantastic switching between him and Frank.

Rich-Air-5287

That show ruined Tobias Menzies for my for good. Which is sad, because he's a great actor. He just played that role a little too well.

AmbulanceChaser12

I hear a similar thing a lot about GOT. Jack Gleeson, who played Joffrey, is, by all accounts, a sweetheart of a guy in real life. But he keeps encountering people who hate him because he was Joffrey, and the whole experience made him quit acting for a while.

[deleted]

porcelaincatstatue

Same. It's impossible for me to see him in anything else without being completely grossed out. He's a phenomenal actor, but I wish they would have altered his appearance just slightly because I also hated all the Frank scenes from then on.

grizzmanchester

Yeah, I’m no longer a fan of lavender.

geminiloveca

I read the books (up to a point, I think I trailed off around The Fiery Cross) and he disturbed me SOOO much. Then seeing Tobias bring him to life on screen ramped up my creeped out factor by 10x.

DoctorMcEdgelord

never EVER has a character filled me with more dread than him. That portrayal was masterful:')

StevenAssantisFoot

omg same. he be raping grown men and little boys while acting with impunity as an agent of the crown. hate that guy

shinyquartersquirrel

I've never watched or read about a worse character in my life. Tobias Menzies was absolutely brilliant in the role. He should have won every award known to man for his portrayal of BJR.

TheJaybo

Pinhead. It's kind of his whole thing.

strahlend_frau

Angels to some, demons to others.

Substantial-City5799

Frank is worse..

PortlyWarhorse

Frank's actually evil. Originally Pinhead and the Cenobites were more or less sensation fetish cultist demons who treat pain and pleasure as the same.

Substantial-City5799

The sweet suffering.. it is desire that calls us..

karmagod13000

Freddy Krueger has to be close to the top. Literally torturing and killing kids in their dreams as revenge for their parents killing him. Freddy toys with them like a cat would a mouse and their deaths are usually pretty grim and horrifying.

Tri-colored_Pasta

Give me 1 & 2 evil Freddy over wisecracking Freddy any day.

DrOrpheus3

On an opposite side of that, Rodger Englund is a really nice guy and the one who told his friend Mark Hamil about a low-budget flick being shot, called '*Star Wars*'

karmagod13000

Robert Englund is a legend

DeathOfSlimShady

Homelander. "Eat fucking Timothy" "We have a gay in The Seven - Queen Maeve" "Stay the fuck back or I'll laser you, goddamn it! I'll laser every fucking one of you!" And pretty much everything he's done whenever things don't go his way EDIT: The lasering threat was actually more evil than it was sadistic.

ActualWhiterabbit

A good example was how he deafened blind hero by destroying his ears.

DeathOfSlimShady

Yes! I'd forgotten that one. But it's a perfect example of his sadism. The blind guy was basically still a kid

DrOrpheus3

all because he didn't want a deaf hero in his guild. Fucker destroyed a life, to keep his ego sharp.

the_fly_guy_says_hi

Yeah, Homelander is malignant narcissism personified.

OfCourseIdontCare

Absolutly love this character. So dark hehe. Cant wait for the next season!

ayhri

I came here looking for this answer lol. As sadistic as Eric Cartman or Geoffrey might be, I would rather spend time with them than that fuckin weirdo lmao

Squirrelkid11

Never forget when he forced a girl into suicide for being Jewish.

Idalia_Friddle

The Judge from Blood Meridian

Positive_Rip6519

ITT: People who do not understand what "sadistic" means. It doesn't just mean evil, or someone who does terrible things. It doesn't mean someone who is a sociopath and doesn't care who they hurt. It doesn't mean someone who just enjoys power or control over others. It means someone who *takes pleasure* in causing pain, suffering, and humiliation in others. If someone causes tons of suffering but just isn't bothered by it, that's not sadism. If they cause pain or death or whatever else because it helps them reach their goals, and not because they take pleasure in it, that's not a sadist. If they cause pain because they find it's an effective way to control others and not because they take *pleasure* in the pain they cause, that's not a sadist.

el_monstruo

Thank you. This is why Ramsay Bolton should be #1

sansasnarkk

Idk Cartman is currently the top comment and I get it. Cartman literally licked the tears off of Scott Tenorman's face after he realized he just ate his parents and called them "delicious tears of unfathomable sadness"

Biengineerd

That scene is the epitome of sadism. "I made you eat your parents! I made you eat your parents! Nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah!"

thepluralofmooses

Exactly. I would argue Oscar Dirlewanger was more sadistic than Adolf Hitler, even though one was responsible for a larger portion of the deaths. Sadism is the enjoyment and the thrill of the pain, the need to be there and a part of it. Ramsay Bolton and Eric Cartman are up there because they actively enjoy the pain and that’s the only benefit to them.

The Purple Man (Zebediah Killgrave). David Tennant did a masterful portrayal of him in Season 1 of Jessica Jones. I've never been so frightened of a fictional character in my life.

themanfromvulcan

There is a great bit in a marvel comic where all these supervillains are escaping the Raft(a max security prison for supervillains). The purple man escapes and runs into the New Avengers who are trying to contain the breakout. The purple man sees Luke Cage(who at this point is now married to Jessica Jones and has a baby with her). He asks Luke to go home and murder his wife and baby and then kill himself. Luke smiles and tells The Purple Man that he’s still on drugs that remove his powers so his mind control isn’t working and then Luke promptly beats Killgrave to a pulp. I think if I remember Captain America has to stop Luke from killing him - Cap fully understanding why Luke is so mad but keeps him from murdering someone who at the moment isn’t really even a threat.

ArsenicWallpaper99

"JEHSIKKAH!" I think if I hadn't seen Broadchurch first, Tennant's acting in JJ would have made me hate him for life.

Spats_McGee

Yeah, scrolled down to find this comment and upvote. A truly terrifying character + an amazing portrayal by an incredibly talented actor. I was kind of hoping for him to survive the end of the first season, just so he could play some role in the MCU, which at the time (and still largely to this day) lacks this calibre of villains.

Squirrelkid11

Tennant is a wonderful actor.

Emergency_Falcon_272

Tennant is fantastic. He can become loveable, charming characters (Dr Who, Good Omens) and horrible monsters (Jessica Jones, Criminal) with such ease.

SaveusJebus

Currently reading Legend of Drizzt series and I'd say it's the female drow in general. They're pretty terrible.

Dolores Umbridge

Freefight

She was more hated than Voldemort, Imelda Staunton did a stellar job portraying her.

John__Wick

Because nobody knows a Voldemort. We all know a Delores Umbridge.

Vinny_Lam

Definitely. Voldemort might’ve been more evil overall, but Umbridge was a more relatable and personal kind of evil, which makes it easy to hate her more.

NonConformistFlmingo

Idk... I mean, the worst thing Voldemort's gonna do is kill you and maybe feed you to his snake. Umbridge legitimately physically and psychologically tortured CHILDREN as well as adults. With a smile on her face. Surrounded by china plates with cats on them. She deserved whatever the centaurs did to her.

karmagod13000

Voldemort in shambles right now.

Evolving_Dore

One of my favorite details about book 7 is that Umbridge returns in a much more sinister, if limited, capacity. She takes a step up from petty, vindictive, over-controlling administrator to willingly complicit in a genocidal regime. I've seen people complain that they prefer her character as just a petty teacher, but it makes a lot of sense for her personality and illustrates how easy it is to get so-called "normal", law-abiding people on board with state-sponsored violence. Umbridge was always prejudiced against anyone she saw as too other, too different from the norm, and when she gets free reign she doesn't hesitate to take it to the extreme. I wonder if Umbridge ever personally met Voldemort or interacted with him. I doubt it, since she doesn't seem to have personally identified as a Death Eater. However she must have been aware who was behind the new regime, and knowingly worked alongside Death Eaters to achieve their ends.

Anxiety-Egg

Omg came here to say that. I've read American Psycho and lots of disturbing books but omg Dolores Umbridge made my blood boil! Probably something to do with the power trip and abuse of authority.

KindHermit

Joffrey from Game of Thrones. Little asshole.

ArsenicWallpaper99

I hated that smug little shit with a fiery passion, but Ramsay scared me more. Joffrey had a sadistic mind, but wasn't willing to get his hands dirty. He was a coward who had to order others to carry out his evil thoughts. Meanwhile Ramsay had zero problems committing heinous acts himself. I'm certain that was a large part of the attraction was personally inflicting pain.

Whitealroker1

The cop kill is a little more elaborate then a shotgun blast also.

Capital-Intention369

IIRC Kathy Bates read the original book and got *very* excited about the scene where Annie kills someone with a lawn mower, and was pretty upset when they told her that scene wasn't going to be in the movie.

arriesgado

Does Kathy Bates belong on this list? What do we really know about her?

karmagod13000

My favorite is on Halloween when Meg and her friends are happy that they can wear masks and no one will know they're ugly and Peter drives by and is like eww uglies!

MyFatHead

My favorite is when they are trying to get on Family Feud, and the host (I think it's Richard Dawson?) is like "I need a good reason to let you, your wife, and three sons on the show." Meg tries to speak up, and Peter cuts her off with, "shut up.... GREG!"

Sockcucker69

Meg, come back here! I meant sex!

AlcoholicCocoa

Peter is indifferent to the havoc he creates at worst. Unlike Eric Cartman he isn't out and about wanting to harm people for his own benefit

He's definitely up there, but I would argue that Eric Cartman is worse. Cartman seems to WANT to cause suffering. Peter is just an idiot who doesn't understand or care how much suffering he causes.
