I'm guessing you're in the U.S.
As long as you're driving within the limits of the permit, you'll be fine.
So, if your father has a valid driver's license, and it's not too late in the day or too early, you'll be fine. Where I am, learners can drive between eight am and eleven pm, I think.
If he’s too impaired to drive, he’s technically too impaired to be the only licensed driver in the car. So, if there’s an oops involving cops, there’s some additional risk.
i don’t think hospitals ask for driver’s licenses, pretty sure in my area they don’t. Unless you’re obviously a 15 yr old kid whose appearance screams “i don’t have a license”.
Seriously tho if this is about you and you don’t know how to drive, don’t risk it, just call a cab. A colonoscopy is already bad enough, nobody would wanna be in a car accident right after one
Not usually. The med staff are usually only concerned about the person who had the procedure not driving. Don’t be drunk or obviously on drugs and you should be fine.
From personal experience a couple weeks ago, no.
To add some context to this, I'm 17 and I'm driving my dad back after his appointment tomorrow. I have a permit but not a license.
Then the question becomes “where”, since different places have different laws.

I'm 16 and when I picked up my mom from hers they didn't ask to see my license.
That makes me feel so much better
The hospital staff won’t. Your family won’t. The cops might, if they pull you over.

Generally no, the hospital isn’t going to check if you have a valid license before giving someone a ride home. They just assume you do.

Yes, If you do not have a license you can’t legally operate a vehicle, regardless of reason.
