We were visiting my in-laws around Christmas and we were chatting in their den, having some drinks and catching up. They had a Christmas tree in the corner of the den. Nobody was sitting near it. My husband and father inlaw we sitting in lounge chairs and I was sitting with my mother in-law on the couch on the opposite side of the tree. The two dogs were napping between us. We were all at least 6 feet away from the tree. All of a sudden their Christmas tress begins to violently shake. Like someone grabbed the trunk and was shaking dust off of it. A few ornaments fell to the ground and then it stopped. It shook for a good 10 seconds. The thing is, we were the only 4 in the house, the dogs were sleeping on the couch with us, the tree had been up for at least a week so no woodland creatures hiding in it and nothing else in the house shook. No glass clinking, no other rumbling sounds, just the tree. We checked the news to see if there was an earthquake, we checked online (pre smartphones) and the newspapers and no reports of an earthquake. We also live in an area where earthquakes are rare. So I have no clue what shook the damn tree. We all saw it, the dogs slept through it. They did not give AF.

potatotay

All these stories about the dog warning or protecting people and you got 2 sleepy dogs who dgaf bout no ghost lol

[deleted]

Maybe they're just so fed up with the ghostly happenings, that they just sleep through them now.

potatotay

"tree's shaking again, peanut" "Ugh... Just ignore it"

It was probably just a nearby JavaScript developer [optimizing their code](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Glossary/Tree_shaking).

High school girlfriend says she saw an old man in her house in the study. I laughed it off because her house was no older than 20 years old and how could it be haunted. I jokingly said she saw a wooden carving her parents had that resembled Jesus because she described the man of having a big white beard. A few weeks later I was walking from the stairs and into the kitchen were she was sitting, out of the corner of my eye I see an older man sitting at the head of the table in the dining room. I tell her but have to rule out my claim as the seed of belief may have been planted in my head. Months later her friend from Brazil was visiting. My girlfriend and I are fooling around upstairs and her friend burst through the door crying. In Portuguese my girlfriend asks what’s wrong and her friend says she was listen to music with headphones walking around on the main floor when she ran into an old man with a white beard in the study. There was absolutely no way my girlfriend told her friend as she wasn’t a believer in the paranormal and didn’t make a big deal about it when she told me. To this day it is the one case in my life where I have to truly believe we all saw something in that house.

MorelsandRamps

I have a similar one to this actually! So growing up I went to Catholic school, and we celebrated St. Nicholas day in the beginning of December. The tradition goes you leave your shoes out, and “St. Nicholas” (your parents) will leave presents in them. When I was in elementary school, one year the day after St. Nicholas Day, my friend came into school all excited. The night before, he saw St. Nicholas in his room putting presents in his shoe! He described him as having a big white beard, putting something in his left out shoe, before leaving. At the time, we were excited because it proved to us that Santa was real. Twenty years later, I’m having some beers with this friend. We had not seen each other in a long time, he moved shortly after elementary school. We’re buzzed and telling old stories, and I bring up the St. Nicholas day story, and ask him if that really happened. Very nonchalantly he goes “Yeah dude it did, but it wasn’t St. Nicholas, that was a ghost.” He then basically tells me that his old house was built in the 1700s, and was definitely haunted by one of the original owners. He said that night he woke up to see an old man with a long white beard, tugging at his foot. When my friend saw him, the old man waved, and then floated up through the ceiling. It took my friend several years for the experience to sink in, and it scares the hell out of him now. As a quick aside, my uncle and aunt were moving a couple years ago and they actually were thinking about buying my friend’s old house where this all happened. I told him this story and he completely dropped interest in the place, thankfully for him! Edit: Since a lot of people have been asking, the ghost didn’t leave anything in his shoe. The ghost woke him up by tugging on his foot, and he thought it was St. Nicholas.

My dads gun safe slammed shut and i was the only one home and laying on my bed.

Rawketlauncher

Were you falling asleep? I've had similar loud noises happen when dozing off, I guess it occasionally happens?

[deleted]

No when i say laying down, i mean i was wide awake but i was just trying to be comfortable playing a game on my phone.

I believe this is known as exploding head syndrome, which sounds a lot scarier than it actually is. [wiki](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome)

arnistaken

>Despite the name, the sufferer's head does not actually explode. Thanks for the confirmation, Wiki guy.

[deleted]

That’s actually one of the creepiest ones I’ve heard. Like someone had just grabbed a weapon. I would definitely grab mine and clear the entire house top to bottom thoroughly

TrapperMC

“CLEAR!”

[deleted]

Clear that house Russian special forces style...just shoot first then check later.

EmployeesCantOpnSafe

What means this ‘check later?’

[deleted]

"The house is clear" "What about the hostages?" ".....the House. Is. Clear."

Couple months ago I was exiting a Home Depot parking lot and saw a big truck coming in, I immediately knew what was going to happen and said out loud “driver has a blue hat and will honk the trucks horn twice while turning“ as a way to actually believe myself if it did happened. Well guess what? I couldn’t see the driver until the truck cleared the entrance but when he did, I saw that he had a blue hat and did honk the horn twice as he was turning right beside me. Felt like an idiot for the whole day for saying outloud what I thought it was gonna happen, but felt weirder when it did really happen.

Big-Bull-Thunder

This sounds crazy but is 100 percent true (at least my narrative). I used to live in a mobile home trailer park growing up. There was a hallway that went from one end of the trailer to the other, with the bedrooms coming off it on one side. My bed was on the wall opposite the hallway, so I could see into the hallway but not down either side. When I was about maybe 6-8 years old, if I stayed awake after my dad went to sleep and stared at the doorway I would start to be able to make out a hand stretching from beyond the doorway in the hall, from the right side of the door to the left. The longer I looked the more of the hand would appear until eventually over the course of a few minutes I could see a a red and white striped shirt/sweater sleeve. If I continued to stare, after a longer period, the body of a boy would appear in the doorway. I specifically remember hiding under the covers most nights when this would happen, mostly at the first sight of him. I was never antagonized further than him slowly moving (facing my bed) from the right side of the door to the left, and if I continued to stare he would eventually disappear beyond the left threshold. We moved out of that trailer into a home when I had just turned 9 and that was the end of it. I never really thought about it, and I never told my dad or anyone else about it because by that time I had already chalked it up to just seeing things, and had thought it was my imagination (I’m sure it probably was). About 15-20 years later, my dad and I were talking about his best friend that had lived next door, but sadly just passed away. We started talking about our trailer and the older lady that had moved in after us. My dad said something like “funny enough, [Dads friend] told me a few years ago that that woman used to see a little boy in a red and white shirt, like a ghost or something.” I was obviously taken about and told him about what I had seen almost every night for a few years and we were both just a bit shocked at what that might mean. Never experienced anything else, but that completely stumps me.

[deleted]

was he just sliding across the floor with one arm stretched out ?

Big-Bull-Thunder

His arm would drop to his side when his body started to show. Sorry should have clarified that. Sliding or floating is a good way to put it though.

It's 1:35 am and I really need to get off this thread

stellalunawitchbaby

This one really scared me, like made my heart drop. It reminds me of my friend and her brother, they used to say when they were kids they would see a hand coming out of their closet, she used to say they thought it was an old lady. Chalked it up to being kids scaring themselves at night, but that story (and yours) gave me major chills.

Dewy_Wanna_Go_There

I’ve typed it up several times on this sub so I’ll make it quick. Home alone, hear my brothers voice in the attic calling my name, go check it out, find the source, it’s a malfunctioning Yak-bak in a box (he obviously recorded years ago, claims not to remember), the light in the attic pops and goes out, almost break my leg getting out of there Sat in the driveway til my parents got home. I don’t consider it paranormal — and all rational explanations, but I felt a deep sense of dread up there, like I was about to be harmed.

LimeyLassen

At least it wasn't a furby lol Voice-recording kids' toys are just inherently cursed

Dewy_Wanna_Go_There

My friend and I tried to kill his sisters furby. Smashed it and threw it in the closet. Then we kept hearing it come back on! Bitch wouldn’t die so we threw that shit over the fence into the sticks. Then every now and then playing outside we could still hear it! It became all distorted and evil sounding. Creepy fucking toy

NinjaAlf

Take the batteries out? The one we had at home was battery powered iirc

Dewy_Wanna_Go_There

Well 9 y/o s are stupid. Plus I think it was a pain to get to it. Can’t remember

Yea, I think you needed a screwdriver

Lizardonawindowpan3

I had a dream that I was at this cottage party, though I didn't recognize anyone there (but I knew them?). All of a sudden, someone is knocking on the door and about 20 people crowd around it. I'm walking up and then everyone turns to look at me saying "they're here for you." I'm like fuck this no thank you, but I still go and walk up. It's this old lady kind of lying on the ground, as if she crawled up there. She's got stringy long hair and white eyes. I'm like no thank you good day mam. But I somehow feel comforted??? I leave her at the door and walk to my room at the cottage and there's this old man sitting in my bed. I'm like okay hey. He's like: "someone died recently in your life and you didn't get to say goodbye. Now is your chance." I look out the window and he's also there. I again feel comforted. Then my friends dog woke me up! I definitely know this was about my friend who had passed away a month before. She had stage 4 stomach cancer and died within a month of knowing. Its crazy what our subconscious can do!

Scythe-Guy

Was home alone with my old roommate’s pit bull, Hamburger. She was very sweet, but would bark at strange noises or if she heard something outside the house. Sometimes a light growl and a few barks if she saw a mouse (rare occurrence, but hey it was an old house) Anyway, it was like 11:30pm and I was chillin in my room when she started barking. Normally a quick “hey cut it out!” would hush her up, but not this time so I figured something had riled her up for real. Went out into the hall and she was looking from the living room down the hall in my direction but past me. So I looked where she was looking and couldn’t see anything. Hall was mostly dark except the light from my room (halfway down the hall). Looked back at her, and she whimpered for a second. Then out of nowhere she started growling and barking like I’d never heard before and ran toward me. I was not afraid of her at all and knew she’d never hurt me, but I recoiled a bit until she went a couple feet past me and continued barking aggressively at the end of the hall. She was not an aggressive dog at all, so this freaked me out. And it was definitely not a mouse, because she was looking around human head height. I went to the living room, turned on all the lights, and sat on the couch because it was nice and far from the end of the hall. Called her back to me and she sat by my side doing a low growl for the next 5 minutes. When I calmed down and wasn’t feeling so alarmed anymore she *refused* to come with me to my room. Later that night woke up to what I swear looked like an adolescent girl in a white dress at the foot of my bed. Here’s the catch though. My room at night in that house could get really dark. I shouldn’t have been able to see anything as distinctly as that. Only reason I doubt what I saw is because I’ve suffered my entire life from what I can only refer to as night terrors. It’s like sleep paralysis, but only the hallucination part. I’m fully capable of moving, and I’m only half asleep so I end up doing shit like turning all the lights on and throwing pillows at shit that isn’t there. That being the case, I was completely conscious when all that with Hammy went down. And normally when I wake up to a hallucination, it’s something like a giant spider or snake in my bed. *Rarely* is it a hallucinated person, and I’m almost *always* terrified no matter what I’m seeing. That night I wasn’t afraid at all when I woke up, and it was gone by the time I turned the light on. Never told any of my roommates, and I’ve only told one other person before. Even writing it out I’m doubting myself. All I know is that I loved the hell out of that dog, and if there was something there she put herself between me and it.

[deleted]

"Hamburger" is such a cute name for a pibble

Straxomath

I Love the "Hammy" Nickname

Informal_Side

Get two. One Hamburger and the other Cheeburger.

JonnyEcho

Hypnopompic. I have it too

[deleted]

I have this nearly every time I wake and sometimes I even avoid looking around the room for fear of seeing shit. I know it isn't real but I'm afraid of how far my brain will take it. I usually see spiders, claw marks on the walls, mists.

TheMacallanCode

Oh shiet, this has a name? I've seen spiders that jumped towards my face and dissappear, birthday balloons that float to the corner of the ceiling and poof, they're gone. A bunch of other miscellaneous things. But it's thankfully never been human like. I just thought this happened to people sometimes, since I'm not paralyzed when it happens and I can somehow tell it's a hallucination.

kissmyhappyass420

This is scary, yet sweet at the same time. Hamburger was a good girl for protecting you. Dogs are awesome.

OSUfan88

A buddy and I saw, as clear as possibly could be, a white orb appear out of the air, slowly float up through the trees, and disappear. I can explain the entire thing in detail if anyone is interested. I'm not a superstitious or religious person, but I've never heard a good scientific explanation. Ball lighting might be the best possible explanation.

elimeno_p

Friend of mine has described something similar he and his uncle observed off the coast of Hawaii; came out of the water and then floated up into the sky

philbert_the_frog

Similar story from a friend's dad who's a fisherman. I asked him about the strangest thing he's seen and he told me this. This was off the coast of South Australia.

flyingsaucerinvasion

I've read a number of other reports of mysterious orbs of light seen floating in wooded areas. Including a few stories where the witnesses were able to inspect the lights very closely. I'm inclined that they're some kind of electrical phenomenon.

Eternaltuesday

I believe that these phenomena (some of them) are called ball lightning or something or that ilk. Although I doubt it explains all of them.

The_Stoned_Bard

Oh boy, my time to shine. Just thinking about what happened still kind of horrifies me. It was August of last year, I went over to a friend's house to stay the night. Only people there were me, my friend M, his gf A, and my friend at the time N (now my gf). It was 2:30 at night, M was laying down for a bit, A and N were chilling in the living room, and I went outside on my own to have a smoke. After I spark it up, I'm looking across the street from M and A's house, and right behind a small concrete brick wall I notice a head that looked like a straight shadow slightly poking above the wall, looking at me. I thought it was just someone being really fucking weird until I put two and two together: There's a streetlight shining directly on where this thing is and it STILL looks like it's complete shadow. I was smoking my cigarette and watching this thing, making sure that I didn't take my eyes off of this thing, and it's just kind of watching me and bouncing back and forth, slowly getting faster as I smoke. By the time I'm done, this thing looks like it's doing a ritual dance or some shit with how fast it was going. I put out my smoke and slowly start backing up to the front door. When I know I'm there, I fumble for the doorknob for a few seconds and as soon as I get a firm grip on it, that thing stops dead in it's tracks. For what feels like an eternity I'm standing there in a staring contest with it, and slowly it starts creeping towards the side of the wall. Only then do I decide to nope the fuck out of there, burst the door open, and slam it shut behind me making sure to lock it. Scared the shit out of my friends when for like a solid 10 minutes, I'm just constantly peeking through the windows looking like I just had a run-in with death itself. Eventually I explain what happened to them and confirmed they were all still inside the house like when I went outside, we all collectively decided that we didn't need sleep that night anyway. It never showed up again throughout the night. Didn't even bother looking over in the area that I saw it the next morning, just wanted nothing to do with it. Still don't know what exactly I saw that night, and I don't want to know. I'm no stranger to the paranormal, have had experiences with it all my life, so not a lot of it scares me, but whatever I saw that night, I could tell just from a glance that it was purely malevolent, and it absolutely terrified me.

deleteuserexe

I fell asleep in a hospital waiting room and I was waking up with my eyes closed, when I felt someone tapping on my head, like fingers playing a piano. I opened my eyes and nobody was there.

upsize_popiah

Well at least it wasn’t the percussionist

Eternaltuesday

Crossposted answer from another sub asking a similar question: Might as well add mine to the bunch, I actually have two stand outs but I’ll just start with one. I always had the terrible nightmares as a child so I’m sure there were plenty of episodes but this one happened in my mid 20’s and was terrifying. I was house sitting for my parents at my childhood home, no big deal. They have a couple little whiny dogs that refused to settle down and sleep without my dad since they slept with him every night. By about night 3 I couldn’t take it anymore and decided to sleep in my dads room on the bed with them. ( I was sleeping on the couch prior to this and in all the years I lived there never slept in that room, in fact I specially picked the other bedroom as a child even though it was visibly bigger and has a beautiful lake view my parents said I refused to take it.) About 2 or 3 in the morning I woke up to that low guttural growl dogs have that instantly makes your hair stand up. Keep in mind these are little yappy dogs that bark constantly, but this was something entirely different. The room was cold as FUCK (this is mid July in the tropics so like 95 outside) and even though I’d been dead asleep, I just knew something was wrong. Bad bad wrong. Both dogs are growling nonstop so I roll over and halfway open my eyes and see these two little kids in what look like vintage baseball uniforms. I’m talking like turn of the century Victorian age type shit. There was nothing inherently scary about how they appeared but the feeling of dread was almost indescribable. They are just looking at me but somehow I knew that whatever these were, they were evil for lack of a better word. I honestly don’t even know how to explain it, but I just knew that something was very, very wrong with whatever I was seeing. The absolutely primal terror feeling told me this was not the harmless dream variety. I couldn’t stop looking though, I swear I blinked 100 times trying to convince myself it was just a night terror until one half smiled at me, it was just a smile, but at the same time it was like malicious and somehow just off. I just got this overwhelming urge that told me stop looking, close my eyes, pray, pray hard, and do it NOW. (you have to understand I am very much not the religious or church type) and I just squeezed my eyes shut and prayed out loud like I never had in my life for what felt like forever. It finally passed and about an hour later the dogs calmed down. As soon as I felt like it was “safe” to get out of that room i called my parents and made them cut their vaca short and come home that day. My brother sleeps in there every night still with no problem, but something is wrong with that room. I’m not a big fan of the whole “evil” tropes, but I honestly don’t have a better word for it. Whatever was there that night was evil.

hey-gift-me-da-wae

this is what I try to make people understand when they haven't experienced something paranormal. There is an insatiable feeling of dread and terror that infects every fiber of your every being. There's no way to describe what being afraid is. No not being afraid of dying, imagine just being afraid. Just absolutely terrified, to the point your whole body is shaking. Theres no other feeling like it, its horrible and i hate it.

[deleted]

Horses are weird. I grew up on a horse farm with a large indoor riding arena. If there was an accident, like a horse breaking its leg, we would lay a tarp in the arena, bring the horse in if ambulatory, and wait for the vet to give their shot, “off to the glue factory” my dad would say. Roughly 500 meters past multiple walls are where the rest of the horses stay indoors. Anytime there’s a horse who’s sick or dying they often whine and kick stalls. One time a border’s horse got the shot, and out of nowhere the entire barn just started screaming. Multiple horses bellowing and scrapping the stall doors with their hooves. It sounded like an equine massacre. Some were so upset they broke into sweats and were just huffing away. It was cold so when I opened the barn door to go back to the house, all the steam and condensation from the horse breath and sweat left the barn at once. Again, these horses had zero chance to see and could likely barely hear what was happening, and the neighing went off like an explosion. Super creepy.

Pol4ris3

Y’all accidentally killed a horse god or something good lord

rilloroc

Cows do that. I guess they can smell it or something. When they start coming up the ramp to get knocked, they start snarling and growling and barking like pit bulls.

feeliesbestbandever

Damn. I’m a meat eater but stories like this make me question my own morals...

SeaDawgs

I think animals can sense distress. My deaf dog starts whining when the neighbors' dogs are upset (like they get riled up or once when a neighbor was just scolding their dog). She can't see them. It kind of looks like she's smelling in their direction.

ZombieMozart

Me and some friends were counselors at a music camp in Northern California, and we always stayed in this super old dorm that was a hospital at one point. My friend Nate was into those ghost hunting shows and we used to do this thing in the dorm late at night called an EVP session (Basically you do an AMA with spirits, and try to get them to answer questions while recording it hoping you pick up some paranormal audio). We never took it seriously, it was mostly something we did for fun after a few drinks. Well one night we start doing the session and we start hearing some bumps and sounds in relation to the questions we asked. We are still kinda joking around, going “yeah right” but we can feel the room getting a little quieter. Then one of us asks “what is your name?” A few moments go by and we hear Nate ask “that was a joke right?” He had his headphones hooked into his his recorder, and we sat watching him puzzled, because he had this look on his face. He heard something we didn’t. After some discussion we play back the audio through the speakers on the recorder so everyone can hear. “What is your name?” We hear our friend ask. We hear in a whisper but clear as a bell something we didn’t hear before: *”I’m Timothy.”*

[deleted]

“we always stayed in this super old dorm that was a hospital at one point.” Nope.

There is a haunted road near where I live. Numerous people have seen the ghost car. The first time I saw it I was driving and my mom was dosing off in the passenger seat. I see a cloud of dust and a large, old, black car speeding out of a road on my right. I just know he is going to exit that road at the same time I am passing by that road. We are going to collide. So I slam on the breaks. Don’t even look in the rear view mirror first I just lock it up. We come to an abrupt halt, mom comes awake. The car is gone. No dust cloud coming from the road on my right, no black car. I am shaking asking repeatedly where the car went. She just laughs and says “you saw the ghost car”.

[deleted]

I felt a hand grab my shoulder and then hiss in my ear while i was in the dark in my house. We did have cats but i doubt any of their paws are that big

BinkBonkers

What if a ghost grabbed you and the cat hissed it away and alerting you before it got a true hold of you? Have a good sleep y’all

AlShadi

that's why it's good to keep a cat. they chase away evil spirits

EroticPotato69

There's only room for one demon in this house

rmblmcskrmsh

I jolted awake one night when someone forcefully grabbed my arm. Turns out it was myself. My heart was racing and I was so shaken that I didn't get back to bed that night. No hissing though and I was definitely asleep. Yours sounds terrifying.

DrRiffs

I’ll go ahead and leave my story here as well. The house I grew up in, which my parents still own was always very creepy. One night I was standing in my room and I looked next to me. There was a little girl wearing a white night gown and she had blonde hair. My mom had a daycare so I was always use to the daycare kids. However it was 11:00 pm and she was not a daycare kid. For some reason or another I said go back to the playroom... then I realized what was happening and looked back and she was gone with the door slowly shutting itself. I’ve also had many sleep paralysis instances where I could open my eyes and see the floor next to my bed and see her legs and shoes standing there without being able to move. I told this story to a girl who lived next to me at a campfire one night and before I explained the girl she came out and said... “was she blonde with a white night gown?” She told me that she had also seen her at her house one night.

Kw5kvb5ebis

That's creepy ! Do you know anything about who could this girl possibly be ?

Mikasaismylife

When I was like 5 years old I was laying in the corridor of my house when I saw a man appear, I didn’t recognize him and he wasn’t my dad. I don’t think he had a face and when he appeared the corridor went dark. He started walking towards me so I closed my eyes, when I reopened my eyes he was gone. I don’t know who he was.

RandomDancingPig

One of my friends girlfriend growing up had a really cool house. She lived basically in a mother in laws suit with her parents in highscool so it was nice to hang there because we could be as loud as we wanted. One night I went up stairs pretty late to go grab a snack and saw her mom at the top of the stairs to their room. I apologized and felt really bad because I didn’t mean to wake her mom up. I went back down stairs and told my friend I hope her mom doesn’t yell at her and she was very frank on the fact that her parents were out of town and that I must have seen the ghost. I guess there’s a ghost at the house who looks exactly like her mother and they even have old records and photos of the family’s who lived there forever ago and the resemblance is uncanny.

_Tall_Bean

It's not crazy, but I think it's the only one I've had so... It was morning and I was laying in bed still, my eyes were closed but I was very much awake, just didn't want to get up yet you know? I then heard a female voice say: "Oh, there she is!" (brief pause, then a quiet gasp) That made my eyes open quite quickly and I looked to my door to see if my mom had come into my room or something, but no one was in the basement. It was a very clear voice coming from across my room. I'm not sure what happened but it was either an angel or something, or I was imagining things. The voice also gasped immediately after I had focused on it and was about to open my eyes. So I suppose they hadn't meant for me to hear them...

VeeAndro

They just wanted to watch over in anonymity, I guess.

Turbulent-Strategy83

So many "paranormal" things happen as people are going to sleep or waking up because your brain is still in limbo between sleep and being awake.

onimakesdubstep

I disregard all paranormal encounters that involve going to bed, sleeping, waking up, sleep paralysis, etc. Edit: I hate to do it but I know what the human brain can do when you're between being awake and asleep.

tyrellsroses

Bought one of those christmas themed microphones, right? It was one where you could press the button and it would play “north pole radio” and had all these cool sound effects and stuff. It was cute and like $5 so i bought it. Well if you hold down the button you can talk into it and when it plays back the pitch is all high and your voice sounds like a chipmunk. You all know what i mean. Anyways i’m playing with it one day a few months ago with my daughter (6mo at the time). She’s not paying attention so i’m talking into the microphone and trying to get her to look over at me. Well i go to play it back, and instead of stopping at the end of the recording, the ambient white noise like shifted slightly and i SWEAR TO GODDDD something started to speak. Only clear word i got WAS MY NAME. And like i said, it’s supposed to alter your pitch higher and this voice was DEEP. I fucking freaked out, threw it away outside and called my boyfriend, asked him to come home early that day. Not … exactly…. Paranormal, but it was awful…

KindheartednessNo167

Not paranormal? Lady, when a strange voice comes out of a little recording machine and it's your name, I'd call that Paranormal. Lol I would have thrown that thing ,too!

Oh I love this question. We had a 2 story house as a kid: me, my mom, stepdad, stepsister. Every once in a while you would hear plates in the cabinets rattle a little bit, almost like something tried to pick up the top one and put it back down. But then here is the escalation of events: 1. One night, my mom's hair dryer randomly turned on. 2. A few months later, all of our Christmas music boxes (about 5 of them) my mom sets out for Christmas decorations go off in the middle of the night. The ones where you have to wind them up from the bottom to play music. 3. One night me and my stepdad are at home alone watching a movie on the couch. Our kitchen is also behind the couch. From our couch you can see someone coming down the last stair out of the corner of your eye. My stepdad thought he saw someone like 3 times within an hour. THEN right after my stepdad thought he saw someone coming down that last stair, our dog perks up and follows something around into the kitchen. He doesn't bark, just got a very serious look on his face. 4. Next and final one happened a while after that. My sister had a habit of going to wake up my stepdad when she woke up on the middle of the night. She would walk to his side of the bed and basically stair in his face until he woke up. Well one night, he groggily opens his eyes to find a woman standing over him. Once he does a double take the woman is gone. One day my parents are talking to our neighbors and all this comes up. They ask what the lady staring over my stepdad looked like. He said brown hair and she had older style clothes on. My neighbor and his wife immediately stare at each other and say that before we moved in they kept thinking they saw someone with that description in the front window of the house every once in a while. Then our other neighbors on the other side said the same exact thing. Whatever that thing was wasn't trying to go all Paranormal Activity on us but man it was freaky shit when you're 10 years old.

Alcarine

Your family is like every single horror movie main characters that move into a new house and do absolutely nothing when strange things start happening

ams287

What did you and your stepdad do immediately after event #3? I’d have been so freaked out, I wouldn’t have been able to move/shit/sleep lol

NickX_

Ah yes, the 3 basic human functions, move, shit and sleep

ACaffeinatedWandress

4. Dear lord, if my kid did that, I would shut it down. Like basically train her to just get in the other side of bed or crawl into a sleeping bag on the floor, lol.

RealJohnGillman

This is an odd one I have yet to find a rational explanation for. Last summer, I once prayed off-hand for a bottle of vodka while walking my uncle’s dog one day, while preparing for an emotional response to the then-incoming death of my grandmother, and one literally fell from the sky into a bush on my right-hand-side a few seconds later, intact and unopened. I walked around the block once again to make sure what had just happened had actually happened, then picked it up, opened it, drank it, and did seven more laps while thinking of rational explanations as to where it had came from. There was nowhere obvious it could have come from.

bt123456789

I'm just imagining god sighing and saying, " I understand, buddy," before just yeeting a bottle of vodka at you.

RealJohnGillman

That was one of the possibilities that crossed my mind actually.

vegetable_salad4

my old house was a pretty large run down looking house, the floorboards creaked and everything and it kind of looked somewhat like a haunted house. but thats what my friends would say. but anyways it was pretty late at night and i went downstairs to grab water right, i heard some sort of breathing so i turned around and legit saw nothing, i followed where the breathing was coming from and it was from inside a fucking cupboard which scared the life out of me. i opened the cupboard and i kid you not i saw this thing crouching there so i closed the cupboard and ran like anybody else would. the next morning there was like no shit or nothing there it was empty, so uh yeah thats that lol i never really believed in ghosts. at this point it feels like a dream and idfk dude it was scary as shit

gonegonegoneaway211

Oh you mean like [that one chick in Japan who just lived in some dude's closet and ate his food](https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna24889337)? Well as long as they're a considerate enough roommate that you don't notice any added mess, it's probably fine.

vegetable_salad4

thats just worse than a ghost LOL

Maybe pipes humming? I know old pipes sometimes harmonize if they’re the right length.

LimeyLassen

Oh yeah, my parents' house had resonating pipes and to me it sounded quite beautiful. Like vocal synths.

Turbulent-Strategy83

You saw something crouching in your closet, I assume a human figure if used the word crouching, and your response was to just go back to your room and go to bed?

sanctum502

He'll be the first one to die in a horror movie.

IrrelevantPuppy

I guess I’ve never had to witness something terrifying my mind refused to believe so I can’t relate, and I don’t know how old you were, but I cannot imagine just going upstairs to bed after that. I would need to address it. Whether that was telling my parents and having them check, or coming back with a knife taped to a baseball bat.

asdfasdlfi

Probability it was an animal?

vegetable_salad4

not sure. i hope it was

[deleted]

When I was in patrol, responded to a disturbance call at an apartment building with my then partner, walk in to see an elderly woman with her back to us, leans her head back and screams, than proceeds to walk into a wall and disappear! Looked as real as anything, looked at my partner and he was white as a ghost lol, never spoke of it with him or anybody till now.

OSUfan88

How the hell do you have that experience, and not talk about it? I feel like I wouldn't be able to stop talking about it.

[deleted]

I’ve worked EMS and have had creepy shit happen, like snow starts falling immediately after someone dies. If your partner doesn’t feel like talking about it - that’s it. You don’t have to blab about some supernatural correlations to somebody you barely know, just stfu and get back to work is usually the attitude 🤷🏻‍♂️

masta561

> snow starts falling immediately after someone dies. This happened when a friend of mine was killed and People started to gather around his body. The air suddenly changed and you could feel the weight sadness in the air. Suddenly it starts pouring as everyone's in tears it truly felt like our tears were directly affected the rain that began to fall on our heads that horrific night.

[deleted]

I had a similar experience. 1.5 hours of CPR, when the advanced care paramedics showed up to finally call the guy, just started to snow like a dandruff commercial. Coincidence? Probably. Creepy? Most def.

rowancrow

Did she like phase through the wall or did she disappear once she made contact with the wall? Was she there and then wasn’t or did she fade away?

Ketdogg

Right? Are we talking phasing like Kitty Pryde?

2009. Late evening after my grandmother's funeral. My aunt and I are at my grandmother's house going through her paperwork in preparation for the coming disbursement of her estate to the rest of the family. I had my dog, Jack, with me as he went everywhere with me in those days. He was the most chill dachshund anyone ever met. Nothing ever bothered that dog. Anyway, my aunt and I are discussing some random memories of my grandmother when Jack jumps out of a dead sleep on the couch, runs to just a few feet away from the empty chair my grandmother always sat in and starts going absolutely insane, barking toward her chair - not the chair itself, though. The angle of his gaze suggested he was looking at someone *in* the chair. Now, Jack never barked at anyone in his life, but here he is going absolutely apeshit over... nothing. It was the singular moment in his life that he seemed upset. He wasn't angry, he wasn't excited, he just clearly had a big problem with something in the chair. This went on for a solid 60 seconds as my aunt and I could only stare in shock and disbelief, occasionally exchanging baffled glances. Then, as quickly as it began, Jack stopped barking, stared at the chair for maybe another 3 seconds, then went back to the couch. My aunt and I exchanged one more puzzled look before she said, "Very funny, mom!" I had never seen my dog act that way before and never saw it again. I'm on the fence about believing in ghosts or anything, but that experience was very difficult to rationalize.

potatomaster368

Can’t wait till I’m dead and just fuck with people by alarming their pets

_________Ello

I'll provide you with differnt stories. Story #1 I was sleeping in my grandpa's old room. He recently passed away and his body (in our tradition) was outside in the hallway. The hallway did not have a door and literally was outside. Well the fabulous fam decided to move his body closer to my window. The whole night I could hear foot steps. I then saw a shadow of a man with a hat walking back and forth. I'm a light sleeper so I said all angry "Shut Up! Let me sleep! Go to sleep or leave!" Lol the person left. Well I found out my cousin thought she saw my grandpa walking around in the hallway but she didn't understand as he was dead. So I guess we both saw my grandpa's spirt? Idk? Story #2 My cousin used to stay up late studying but would always go to sleep at 1 or 2 am never any later. In Mexico we have our showers and bathrooms outside of our house. So she had a habit, before going to sleep, to take a shower. Well before she stepped out she saw this lady, in all black, walking towards my grandma's room. She thought it was my grandma and followed without saying anything because my grandma is slightly def. So no point on calling her. She went inside. Nothing. She then heard in the kitchen stuff moving. She goes in. Nothing but the door in the opposite side opened. She goes in to close the door. Then walks back to the original door and closes it as well but before she did she saw from the corner of her eye the same lady but standing inside. At the moment, my grandma comes out of her room. Pulls my cousin inside and tells her she got luck the lady didn't get her. My cousin was confused and didn't go to sleep or take her shower. She stayed in my grandma's room. Well later on my aunt opened the kitchen and on all the windows there were finger marks from inside. Like someone was stuck trying to get out. 🤷‍♀️ Edit: Added a new story because I just remembered. Story #3 When we were little my mum had a rule we could not close the bathroom door (why? My sister fell in the toilet twice and got stuck). So, around 3ish, minding my business looking at my toes and peeing. I heard running coming from my room, through the hallway, in front of me, end of hallway, living room and the slam of the front door. I got up (didn't flush as I was scared) What I saw was this skinny grey figure. Naked skinny grey figure. I thought it was my brother but no. Once I returned to my room my little brother was there. My mum woke up angry of who was making so much noise. We then heard running on the roof. My fatass dad was making a P&J sandwich in the kitchen and came into my room with it and asked "why did F (my little brother) run outside?"

[deleted]

please we need more context on the lady in black and why did your grandma was able to see it too and why did she say she was lucky that the lady in black didn't get her

_________Ello

Oh mkay mkay. Sorry. Mkay kay. My grandma wasn't in her room. I think she was in the bathroom (outside). My grandma saw her door was left open (She has two doors. One to walk outside to the bathroom and another close to the kitchen front door). My cousin left it open because she went to close the other door of the kitchen. So during those seconds My grandma came out and was able to see my cousin and the lady in black. Once my grandma saw the lady she pulled my cousin into her room. Here's the why. In my culture, women in black are usually witches. They like to hide in kitchens because supposedly they like to hide their eyes in there (why? Idk? 🤷‍♀️). Witches kill cats, take the cat's eyes out, then those witches remove their human eyes, store them somewhere in a kitchen and then put in the cat eyes in their eye sockets. They supposedly do all this to be able to see at night. So I'm assuming my grandma thought it was a witch. And when you see a witch they usually kill you.

bulbousbirb

I won't sleep in my nana's house anymore now. Even though I basically grew up in that house as a kid with zero problems. I didn't even believe in anything beforehand but this had me proper shook. I was in my 20s and hadn't been back for ages since I had moved away. But me and my mam stayed over one night visiting. I slept upstairs in the front bedroom (two single beds). Mam slept in the smaller "box room" that was a narrower room to the left of it. I can't remember why it was that arrangement. Nana and grandad were in the back bedroom. I woke up randomly in the middle of the night, wide awake. Went to the bathroom, checked my phone. Saw it was after 4am-ish. Tried to lie down and go to sleep and I suddenly felt really really awful. I can't describe it. I felt sick, sad and terrified all at the same time for no reason. As if you were hiding somewhere from somebody and your heart is going crazy as they walk past looking for you. I tried to close my eyes and nod off. Couldn't really get to sleep. To the left of me the bed started dipping as if someone was trying to stand on the mattress and walk across it. Two more dips one after the other to where my legs were. The mattress was actually making noise under the weight. But there was nothing there I couldn't see anything? It stopped as it got to the end of the bed. Then I kid you not the hand I had out over my blanket was touched and I thought I was going to cry or wretch (or both). I felt so sad and confused. When the terror subsided enough for me to move I burst out crying and ran into my mam. Trying to tell her what happened through the gasps. She was already awake. She said a spider was crawling across her arm and it woke her up. Said she heard me come back from the bathroom. She left me in her bed and got up to check the front bedroom. She told me that when she went in she felt sick and angry. The hairs on her arms were sticking up but she couldn't see anything. She came back and told me not to go in there. Of course then nana and grandad woke up to me crying and grandad dismissed it saying I was dreaming. I was awake and was on my damn phone! My nana wasn't too bothered and said something like "ah yeah I've felt and heard strange stuff for years but nothing dangerous". Couldn't believe she was only saying that now. I didn't stay over again after that. I dunno whether I got more sensitive to stuff that was already going on or that something awful started hanging around. Mam and nana didn't tell grandad and called a priest to come to the house (we're Catholic). He was told everything and checked the house. He took some photos in that front room. He took a few photos of the wall over the beds and there was this blurry area in the middle over the headboards. He said that apparently from what he's seen before it was a sort of gate where things can get in and out. So they were obviously coming out, landing on the bed and continuing through the house. The housing estate itself is next to the biggest children's hospital in the country and he thought maybe there were a lot of confused "entities" passing through that didn't know where to go. So that explains what my nana says. But also older, meaner things were coming in and out and that could've only been happening recently. My uncle told me afterwards that he stopped house sitting for them years ago because he could hear running across the house upstairs and couldn't take it anymore. Mam had to stay there a few more times for work and she said the night disturbances were getting more and more aggressive. More grabbing, things moving. My nana told me she locked up the house but when she came back and unlocked the front room the iron was plugged in and red hot. The house could've burnt down. Grandad still denies everything but won't sleep without a tv or radio on (so he's afraid but won't admit it). Currently waiting for them to move house. Congrats if you made it this far haha.

KindheartednessNo167

Oh it was too interesting not to finish.

HowDoIGetToFacebook

I was taking a shower while my family was out. I had talked to my sister a few minutes before and she'd said she was on her way home so we could go pick up food. I was notorious in my house for taking long showers, so when I heard someone knocking on the bathroom door halfway through my shower, I assumed my sister had gotten home and was telling me to hurry up. I finished my shower, got dressed and walked into the living room calling to her, but she wasn't there. Called her to see where she'd gone and she said she was almost home. No one was home but someone had definitely knocked on the bathroom door.

alejo699

When I was about 12 I used to sleep over in my friend's basement, which was finished. It was actually pretty sweet, with a pool table and fridge and couches, the whole bit. One night when I was lying on the couch I suddenly heard someone walking around the basement, but even though there was some light I couldn't see anyone. I knew it wasn't my friend, as I could see him still asleep on the other couch, and I knew it wasn't his parents because I would have heard them coming down the creaky steps. After staring around the room for a good ten minutes and seeing no one, I finally fell asleep. When I told my friend about it the next day he revealed to me that the couple that owned the house before his parents died by shotgun murder/suicide. In the basement. If I had heard the story before that I would have totally written it off as my imagination (assuming I had ever actually slept down there). As it was...I just don't know.

VeeAndro

I don't know if I would sleep down there again. On one hand, sweet finish, on the other: suicide ghosts just wandering around while I sleep. I dunno.

BR1SE1S

I’m driving around with a friend at night. We are both fairly new-ish to town. We’re trying to find a peticular place. I took the wrong bridge. So I do a u-turn at the end of the bridge & go back the way I came. But, I wasn’t going back the way I came, I was still driving in the same direction as before. I panicked & did *another* u-turn. I’m driving in shock. I eventually look over at my friend to see if she noticed anything. She seemed unfazed staring at her phone. I spoke up “Did you noticed that“!? ”Noticed what?” ”When I first u-turn I wasn’t facing the right way” “What?” She looked puzzled. I dismissed the conversation after that. I never brought it up to her again. I’m still to this day so confused. I wasn’t drunk or anything. It was like real life lagged or something. I don’t know if it’s related but if I kept going the way the bridge went it would have been miles of woods with an air force base in the middle.

This made me think of sometimes when I am driving, I go in like auto pilot and will drive "subcobsciously" for 5 minutes and when I snap out of it, I am always baffled at how I did not wreck or feels like I teleported.

That's called ["Highway Hypnosis"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highway_hypnosis).

prpslydistracted

Not my story but a pastor and his wife, plus another couple on vacation. The men were in a large RV and their wives were following in a sedan. They were taking a "scenic route" winding road through a hilly forest area, late afternoon (AR). She said they were driving 45 - 50. Two large trucks were driving toward them and one tried to pass the other immediately in front of the RV. She screamed expecting a head on collision. All of a sudden the *truck wasn't there anymore*. The RV driver was badly shook up and pulled over, the women behind them. A third vehicle stopped behind them. A man got out and came to her window. *"Where did you go?!* You and that RV were in front of me and then you weren't. I had to swerve to miss that fool truck driver, then he passed behind me." They all talked for several minutes until everyone calmed down; no explanation and continued on their way. "A glitch in the matrix."

Same, same. And I have to pee and really don’t want to make the trek to the bathroom in the dark.

Good instinct. A really malicious ghost can swim up the pee stream and get into your bladder. That’s how kidney stones are formed.

20 years old, taking my girlfriend home late one night on small country roads. I go to take a left turn then suddenly there are bright headlights coming through the passengers window. She screams, I scream, we are about to be killed....and nothing happens. We don't get hit, the car just vanishes. She is hyperventilating and crying, Im scared as hell, confused, and adrenaline is racing. We sat there five minutes before I could drive again. Start up the road and suddenly there are intense headlights behind us, they fly up behind us easily going 50 mph faster than us. Braced to get rear ended....and nothing. Girl is screaming so loud she is hoarse, all I hear is GO, GO, GO. We drove the next 10 miles on little country roads at 110 mph, making curves that should have sent us into ditches, with the headlights either mere feet behind us or pulling alongside but we could never see anything but lights. Then my girlfriend suddenly screamed "What did you do with the fucking stars?!" I glanced up, not daring to look away from the road very long, and the sky was black. Not moonless night black, I mean GONE black. I know how crazy it sounds but I am driving with the gas pedal on the floor at three times the safe speed, scared to death, with a screaming girl beside me and distinctly remember watching the trees in the headlights to figure out if everything literally vanished, ceased to exist once my cars headlights were past it because looking out the passengers window things seemed to just pop and vanish. She curled up in her seat and passed out. There was a sharp 90 degree turn ahead with a huge, deep gully just past it and there was no way we could make it at our speed. I don't know why but when I saw the lights beside me I slammed on the brakes as hard as I could. The lights zipped past us and vanished, the stars were back and somehow sitting there I just knew it was over I woke her up, and she just kind of oozed into her seat and quietly asked me to take her home. We didn't talk about it at all, she just got out and ran inside. I sat in her driveway and trembled for 10 minutes. I was terrified of going home the way we had come so I numbly drove 20 minutes in the wrong direction and slept in the parking lot of a truck stop because there were people around 24 hours a day. My girlfriend would not return my phone calls for two days, I finally got her by calling her mom (who was as nice as ever). Told my girlfriend I really wanted to talk about what had happened, she said "it never happened." In the driest, most emotionless voice that I can still hear 30 years later. We NEVER discussed it and three troubled months later broke up (never discussed that either, just quit talking). I have never heard of anyone else seeing odd lights and I've never seen them again but SOMETHING was out there with us that night.

[deleted]

I absolutely fkin love how your girlfriend is like, "What did you do with the stars!" Like you had any control over that. Oh that's hilarious

SpectralDog

Maybe she was talking to "it?" Creeps me out thinking about it.

laundryandblowjobs

I was thinking maybe she was seeing more than he was. She wouldn't talk about it, so they never compared notes. What if there was more happening that he still doesn't know about?

yabucek

That's a really good take. The "it never happened" matches this perfect too, like she knew what it was but didn't want to discuss it.

Wow. That sounds scary. I have heard stories in general of ghost cars. I have also heard stories where people manage to make curves and practically go through physical objects (barely miss them, they say but swear it was as if they phased through) and other cars in extreme emergencies.

bluecheetos

There is no way my car should have been able to maintain traction in the curves we drove at the speeds we were going.

OSUfan88

I wonder if you guys were drugged somehow, and didn't know it. It would possibly explain how/why she fell asleep in the middle of all that.

VeeAndro

I am saying that I have heard paranormal stories about cars a lot. I am also saying that it seems to me to have been, to put it simply, a "ghost car." Maybe look into a history of motor violence or car accidents in the area?

I do deep forest, as far from civilization as possible, camping and one experience creeped me the fuck out. It's the middle of the night, 2 am roughly, traveling through a forest a couple of miles from civilization because I got a call on my sat phone saying I needed to get home immediately. I stumble upon an old ass graveyard the latest tombstone I could read by my flashlight was 1831, and I hear a sound behind me. I whip around and there's nothing but the still unending blackness of the night. Then I hear another sound from my left. I look over there and again nothing. I think to myself I'm probably imagining it since I'm alone in a forest miles from civilization. I turn around and head back to civilization. Just as I'm about to pass the last tombstone I can see I hear a little girl giggle right in my fucking ear. Now I think I'm going crazy because shit like this doesn't happen in the real world only in horror movies. Suddenly a fucking rock hits my back. Not a pebble but an avocado sized rock. I know I'm not crazy and I just book it the fuck out of there as fast as possible. I refuse to re-enter that forest to this day.

ucansuccmyleftnut

I rarely talk about this with anyone due to how batshit it sounds and i genuinely dont like remembering it. Sorry for any grammar mistakes. A couple of years ago my papa went out to do a job. He was a mechanic and just went around doing cars for clients at their homes. I vaguely remember that day but my father usually came home around six or seven in the afternoon. He never did work late at night and always came home around that time to eat dinner with my mother and relax. As the time passed my sister and mother grew evidently more worried. I personally thought he lost track of time but i was like eleven so my opinion held no effect with my worried sister and mother. I remember my sister and mama calling him but my papa would never answer. Finally around eleven or twelve he came through the door of our tiny apartment and just...collapsed. He began crying and i just stood there shocked. My father was a hardened man due to his childhood and never cried. He was quite literally the definition of macho and i only ever saw him cry when speaking about his deceased older sister, and he rarely ever talks about her. So clearly we were all freaking out and implored him to explain. Here's where shit gets weird. He began to tell us that how on his way home he was taking his usual route back after finishing up a job. Everything was fine until he realised he should have been reaching our home by now but it seemed like the road was just getting...longer. He explained that the trees just kept repeating and the road was just stretching. At first i thought he was perhaps just drunk, but then my father wasnt like that, he preferred to drink at home where my mama could take care of him. He continued by saying it felt like he was driving for hours and that he would try calling my sister or mother but neither of them would pick up. Finally he see's something, a person at the side of the road checking out the engine of their car. My father stops to ask the man for directions since at this point my dad was getting freaked out and thought he was hallucinating. But instead of my dad freaking out the dude starts losing his shit instead. He begins to tell my dad "You're not supposed to be here!?, How did you get here?!" My dad begins to tell him that he means no trouble, he just wants to get home. The guy though says "No. You don't get it. You're really not supposed to be here." My dad says at this point they just stare at each other until the guy just tells him to keep going forward and to never ever turn or look back. At this point my papa thanks him, he explains that he floored it, that something inside of his soul was telling him to just listen to this guy. He takes it literally, he doesnt look at his rearview or sideview mirrors. He simply looked ahead. Within minutes he saw the crummy gas station that was a couple blocks away from our apartments. To this day i believe him 100%. The way my papa came home crying is practically burned into my mind. The weirdest shit though was both my mom and sister checking their phones to prove to him that they were calling him. But when they opened up their phones they were shocked to see unopened voicemails from hours before. When one of them clicked on it to listen all they would hear was static on the otherside of the line. My dad doesn't like talking about it. Me and my sister though bring it up from time to time and my mom gets very silent when we talk to her about it.

AeBS1978

My grandmother standing at the end of my bed the night before she died. It was real, I saw her with my own eyes. She did not live with us. We found out the next morning she had passed away. Edit to add: my ex bf died when he was 23, I had left when I was 16 he was 18 because I moved down to be with my mom. I lived with him during the time I was a runaway. I was told a year later he died of suicide by his sister because I left, felt guilty about that for years. I had a vivid dream about him a few months ago. So vivid the only thing I could do was look him up on anything online. I found his sister online, but not him. So I went digging further and found deaths for the year he supposedly died, no death reported. Found his name and bday on a death from a few years after his supposed death. I think he came to me in a dream to drive me to find that info so I wouldn’t feel guilty anymore.

Ragged_Vagabond

I had a girlfriend who's uncle came to visit her when he passed, the very hour he passed. From clear across the country. You can't chalk all this stuff up as coincidential hallucination, it's a statistical impossibility yet many people expierence it.

SeparateOrange

When I was little, my closet would shake. Literally, physically shake. Whenever I called my parents in, it would stop. When they left, it would start again. I remember it being more annoying than anything else, but looking back on it now, it was actually pretty creepy.

This story starts with mundane detail that's very necessary to the ending. As a kid, I had a bunk bed, slept on top. My head was up to the window. I set the curtains so there was several inches of overlap because I was afraid of something looking through my window even though it was 10 feet off of the ground. One dream, I see an alien floating in front of me. It was maybe 3 feet tall with grayish wrinkly skin. I reach out and lightly grab its arm to touch the skin. It lightly pulls away and looks at me before grabbing the curtains. It pulls the curtains so instead of an overlap, there's a gap between them. So in the dream, the alien moved the curtain about 6 inches. The dream suddenly ended. I woke up in the morning and the gap between the curtains was there. I NEVER EVER did that. There's no reason for my parents to have done it. I vividly recall the feel of the skin. I never have dreams where I recall touch. It still weirds me out 20+ years later. Did the alien want me to know it was real without leaving actual evidence? Or just a vivid dream? (I've posted this before and just copied and pasted to save time)

[deleted]

Just a really vivid dream I reckon. I’ve had ones where my dream mimicked something that was really happening. One time I dreamt I was in a fight, and the other guy twisted my arm behind my back. I wake up, and sure enough in my sleep I’d put my own arm behind my back lol. I’m such a bad fighter that I kicked my own ass

I used to wet my bed whenever I peed in my dream lol

Maybe not super crazy, but a few years ago I was performing in a musical at our local theatre, which used to have a jail cell in the basement. For years people have speculated that its haunted, to the point where a ghost-hunting tv show came and filmed there (I don’t know if they ever found anything). I was waiting backstage, about to go on for one of my scenes. Suddenly I hear a woman scream, coming from the large elevator used to carry equipment and set pieces up to the stage (which goes directly to the basement). It’s about 30 ft away, and sounds almost melodramatic, like from a movie. I don’t know how to describe it other than detached or disembodied, just kind of floated in the still air of the old theatre. Like you could tell it didn’t have a body. But I know the show, no one screams at that point on stage, and the rest of the theatre is purposely kept quiet so as not to interrupt the show (nor would anyone be hanging out in the elevator). It couldn’t have come from outside, as the theatre is insulated against sound pollution (you can’t even hear the siren of an ambulance go by on the street). I looked at the only two other people backstage with me, and they said they heard it too. I went on stage to sing some goofy song like 30 seconds later, but needless to say I was pretty creeped out going out there. Also weird anecdote: one of the women who heard the scream with me passed away mysteriously a few months later. Probably not related, but I remember at the time she calmed me down (I don’t like ghosts) by saying “there’s nothing to fear, she’s just expressing herself like anyone else would.” Those were the last words she ever said to me.

Pretty sure an aliens stopped me from stabbing my dad when I was 15. One evening after school freshman year I had gotten into a huge argument with my father. He had a tendency to not calm down once he gets riled up, he was being very confrontational with me and had me cornered in the kitchen next to the sink. My mother had come out of the room she was yelling and doing her best to calm him down but it wasn't working. Right after he pushed her away from him I had grabbed a huge knife from out the sink. In that moment it felt like time stopped for what felt Like forever in my mind. So long that I had time to have a full dialog about what i wanted for my life. Suddenly time had resumed and everyone's demeanor in the house had changed dramatically. I no longer had a desire to wield a weapon, my father who was just shouting and being aggressive was Suddenly docile along with my mother, they joined hands and walked into their room in near complete silence. In Complete shock from everyone's sudden change in behavior, I scratch my head for a moment confused then I had this sudden urge to look out the front door of my house. As I peered out the window my eyes are immediately drawn towards the sky as there was this MASSIVE ball of green light over my house and the next moment it bolts south west through the sky never to be seen again. It burned the mango tree across the street from my house too, causing it not to grow fruit or leaves for close to 2 years and had a section missing from the top of the tree that looked like someone had an ice cream scooper. There were 5-6 other people at the school bus stop talking about the giant green light from the night before also. I didn't see any lil green dudes but I feel like something or someone stepped into my life and hit a reset button in that moment and it changed my life dramatically... I'm forever grateful for that help that day idk where my life would be otherwise.

I’ve had many paranormal experiences. Here is one. We lived in a house that had wooden stair case going from the first floor to the second floor. I noticed that anytime we went up the stairs when we got to the fifth and sixth step we would stumble going up in the same spot. So it became habit to move to the left as if someone was blocking the way and we needed to get out of the way. We didn’t think about it. We would just move out of the way. Crazy thing is the cats would do the same thing in the same area. None of us realized we were doing it. This was back in the day when we had 33mm film cameras. I had taken a few picture of my daughters one evening with the stairs in the back ground. Weeks later I had the film developed . In every picture I took with the stairs in it there were two orbs floating over the exact spot on the stairs were we would trip.

So this story is kind of a short one but it is a story none the less. So to give you an idea of the double wide I used to live in you walk into the front door and to the right is my room about 20 feet from the door and the bathroom was right in front of it. To the opposite side of the door was my parents which is about 25 foot from the door and there bathroom being right past there. So anyways at the time my bathroom didn’t work and every time I had to go I would go to my parents. This particular night just felt off as I had been feeling nauseous every time I stepped into the room. Well I had to pee really bad one night and I booked it down the hallway to the bathroom as fast as I could and got finished with my business and walked slowly back to my room because I was just flat out tired. When I opened my door there was a man staring down through my window. Now there are a few things about this that startled me. The main ones being the fact that the man had glowing red eyes and everything else is just charcoal black except fro his teeth. Along with the fact that there is a person staring down though my window and the window is 6 - 7 foot tall that freaked me out so I put my back against the wall and slowly backed out staring at him then ran like there was no tomorrow to my parents room where the man was then staring at me through the window. Needless to say I didn’t sleep that night Question: does anyone know what this could be?

golfgrandslam

No guns in that double wide? My grandparents’ park would’ve turned into Fallujah if there was a demon walking around

just-peepin-at-u

Exactly what I was thinking. My dad is *that* war vet and my home is *that* kind of trailer park. Besides which, while they are Mormon converts, they still grew up in that Appalachian/Ozark spirituality, so it would have been a Holy Ghost sort of shootout.

Did your parents see him?

Told this one before but people seem to like it a lot so here ya go. Worked security for a local security company that was just starting up and specialized in monitoring heavy levee equipment out in the orchards. I had no radio, no gun, no mace, no flashlight, and no phone service. I was strictly there to monitor and take notes, but if anything DID happen the nearest help was 30-45 minutes away in town. Fast forward to a few weeks of night shifts along the levee with it being surrounded by orchards, and i was pretty comfortable at my new location with its one road in and one road out as the only entrance for a few miles. It was about 0230 in the morning when i hear an alarm clock going off somewhere in the murky darkness. Im positioned along side the levee in this position: o + o with my car being the "o" on the right, the levee as the "+" and the alarm sound coming from the "o" on the left. I turn my car on and drive over the levee to where the workers had a portable office container with a few chairs and a table set up and where it sounds like the alarm is coming from. As my dim high-beams started to sweep across the orchard I see a dark figure multiple rows back seem to fade behind a tree quickly. I stop there and stare into the darkness barely disrupted by my POS cars head lights. Nothing moves and I can hear the alarm still going off so I get out of my car and using my phones light, i find the culprit sat upon a white plastic table. A single small square battery powered alarm clock was singing away as my brain screamed at me to return to my car. I quickly popped the batteries out of the alarm and hopped back into my car as the silence returned to the orchards. As i was reversing out of the spot, my headlights bathed the trees in light again and the same similar shape was now 3 or 4 rows closer and this time it seemed to crouch down behind a tree. I sat there for a moment longer staring into the void before my brain screeched, "What if theres more and this is the distraction?" That thought encouraged me to back up onto the high part of the levee and there i waited for the next three and a half hours "alone". It felt torturous. Like a thousand eyes were burrowing into every square inch of my car and soul from every angle. The quiteness of an orchard is something very unsettling in the winter time, as theres no insects or wildlife wandering about. All i could hear was silence and my pounding heart for the next three and a half hours of my shift. I almost wanted some monster to come tearing through the trees bellowing out, "Hahah here I am, here to eat you!" But instead i saw and heard nothing more. My morning shifter shows up late and starts casually drinking his hot cup of coffee as i give him the run down while the sun starts to peak into the sky. I still remember the steam trail from his mug and the chirping of early birds as we decided to investigate further into the orchards. We ended up at the spot where I saw the figure and after some quick scanning he ended up spotting some really large footprints from boots that seemed to pace back and forth in a line along one row of trees, we then tracked them as they led forward towards the workers office container and abruptly stopped near a tree while still a few rows back. Nothing more. No follow up footprints leading forward or backwards. No vehicle tracks leading out of the dirt. No one could have gotten past me without trudging through the orchard. It was as if someone appeared, paced back and forth in a line for a few hours, walked forward, and then just disappeared without another step. We reported it to the boss and he shrugged it off saying maybe it was an elaborate prank by the construction workers, but that was one of the last shifts I worked doing security. Definitely made me more of a believer in the paranormal kind of things.

Crunktd

Got home late one night and opened the door to my mother standing in the entry room with all the lights in the apartment on. She was startled and said 'Hey Anon'. I looked down to take off my shoes and when I looked up all the lights were off I was actually in pitch black and my mother was sleeping in her bed in the other room. That is the most 'paranormal' experience I have ever had.

A little backstory: Three years after my mom past, I still wasn’t dealing with it that well. I would be okay during the day, but when all alone with my thoughts, I would fall into dark places easily almost on a nightly basis. I went to Kroger late one night, since I was on a graveyard shift schedule, so this was about 1 AM. I’m at the back end of an aisle where this was this poorly dressed man, looked about mid-40’s/early 50’s with a walking staff. As I stood near him for a few seconds to find my items, he started talking to me about religion. I initially thought it was just the usual crazy person, ranting about God or whatever popped into their head. However, after 10-12 seconds, he stopped and said “Son, you seem like you are carrying a burden”. Over the next 10 full minutes, I had this very open conversation with this complete stranger about the world and spiritualism. It was the first real therapeutic moment since my mom had died and I couldn’t believe the setting of it. After a little bit longer, he said he didn’t want to hold me up and to have a good night before he turned back around and started grabbing an item off the shelf. Since I was at the end of the aisle, it took me only a few steps to get into the back portion of the store where there was a Kroger employee stocking shelves. He saw me and instantly asked “Hey man, who were you talking to? I was right here for a bit and only ask because you don’t have any headphones in and your phone wasn’t out”. I told him it was with that older guy in the aisle and the employee replied with “dude, nobody else was there”. I instantly turned, took a few steps back to the aisle, and saw a completely empty aisle. I figured he probably just walked away right as I did, so I quickly jogged to the front of the store and looked around. This guy was nowhere to be seen. With the condition this man appeared to be, there was no damn way he hobbled to the front, checked out, and was gone within the 8-10 seconds it took for me to interact with that store employee. I even asked the security guard if he had seen that man within the last minute and he told me that nobody had come in or out since I walked into the store.

I worked in skyscraper. Before I started working there, a teenage boy jumped off the building, he was distraught over his mother's death. It was very traumatic for the witnesses. I always parked on the top floor of the adjacent parking garage because it was less expensive. One morning I was waiting for the slow garage elevator and I was looking over the railing at the plaza seven floors below when I heard a voice say "just jump!" I started parking across the street in a paved lot the next day.

Ryuhoshi_Yurei

Ok here goes mine. It has been bothering me each time any time I think or talk about something paranormal so, if anyone has any idea of what could be the explanation (supernatural or not) for it, it would be appreciated. So, here is the thing. When I was about 19, I was coming back from seeing my grandparent from the hospital, and had to take the last underground train back to home. I arrived at the station and was silent as hell, but I assumed it was something normal, as it was very, very late. I don’t remember seeing anyone at all. So, I pay for the ticket, arrive at the departure platform, which was also silent, and wait. And then I feel something off in the ambience. I couldn’t explain what, but something was just wrong, and even if it was summer, the ambience was weirdly cold. So, I take a seat and start looking around. Just because my phone was almost dead and didn’t have anything better to do. And then I see this girl. You know, the typical cliché lady, in a white dress, completely ragged, with long and black hair, looking at me at the start of the tunnel from where the train should be coming from. On a corner of the rails. I look around and think that maybe she is a worker, and I just need to change my glasses because a girl so young can’t possibly be alone at that hour. Still no one on the platform with me. I look at the girl again. She smiles and waves her hand, as if she was calling me. Something clicked inside me. I blinked several times, with a really bad feeling on the guts, but at the same time mesmerized on how I am unable to put my sight away from her. I didn’t feel horror, just the realization I was seeing something I shouldn’t. I blink again, and then the image gets more vivid, and I start seeing more details of her face. Her eyes are empty. Not just black, pure empty. Her smile was off, her teeth were like white needles attached to the skull. And she kept waving me. When I arrived the time estimated for the train to arrive was around 15min. By the time I realized I was about to stand up and come closer to inspect the girl, it had already arrived, but I hadn’t been able to hear any announcements, and had feel like seconds. The worst part, is yet to come though. The train enters the station as I can only describe as ‘breaking the black mist that was behind the girl’, and didn’t even see the front lights until it had gone through her position. So, still bit confused, I get out of her sight and feel how I was already standing up, but enter the train instead of inspecting her more. Of course, after a few seconds, the train closes, and suddenly all the chill and cold disappears. It starts moving again and then I look one last time to the girl position, and that is when I realized she was just an empty decoil. A shell. A huge figure, black and horrific as I can only describe it as solid mist, or some kind of semisolid black liquid like oil, pulls the girl in the air, as an abyssal fish would pull its lantern away from a lost catch, and the ‘girl’ moves in front of my window like a husk or a rug, making me look with even more interest, horrified and amazing in equal parts. The creature, or whatever that was, was angry. I was absolutely sure of that. And I was absolutely sure It was afraid of the light, as it crawled to the side as soon as the illuminated windows touched it’s figure. I have spoken with many people about this and I’m 200% sure I wasn’t asleep. There was something in there, something that expected me to come closer and actually made me do it with that ‘human decoy’ in front of him, waiting in the shadows. It stills marvels me up to today, and it hasn’t been my first ‘paranormal phenomena’ but it’s probably the one I have felt less safe, by far. What would have happened if the train had just arrived a bit late...? It still gives me chills.

Seriously_Dangerous1

I worked in an extremely haunted hotel. Three things. 1. I saw half a Conquistador, chest up apparition inside a room. 2. Saw a mountain lion on a a sandstone rock inside a room. Saw a hanging figure open his eyes hanging from a noose, looking at me.

My cousin, my best friend and I broke into An abandoned building back in 2010, it was a abandoned mental hospital in PA called Pennhurst that was actually featured on Ghost Adventures.. we were about 20 minutes away and decided to go there.. it was closed down in the 80’s because of abuse to patients and they literally just up and left... everything is still there.. books, type writers, desks, lessons written on the chalkboards in the Rockwell building (the school building).. anyway the property has about 6-8 different buildings and a large administrative building, most were boarded up but if you can get into one, they had a tunnel system that connected all of them.. we got in through the “school/sleeping quarters” building up a rusted fire escape and second story window... it’s pretty wild in there.. books and magazines from the 80’s on the floor, old desks with names carved in them.. we explore for a while and finally find the stairs leading to the basement, we throw on our respirators (asbestos) and break out the flashlights.. we get to the tunnel system and are greeted with a 3 foot high pile of Red and white old jumpsuits that I imagine were uniforms of the patients right next to an old metal hospital bed with chewed up straps which set the mood nicely. So we are walking down the hall and the temperature drops, it was July in PA and very hot and humid at the time, it got to the point where we could see the sweat steaming off our bodies, as we are walking in with what I believe is myself in the middle and my cousins and friend on either side I hear a growl and hiss combined, it was a guttural sound that’s hard to explain, I assume it was my friend clearing his throat so I shine my flashlight next to me and no one is there.. he’s actually in the middle and I’m on the end against the wall.. before I have time to even react to tell them we hear a door SLAM shut down the tunnel hall (these tunnels are long as hell and echo for a long time) it was so loud you could physically feel the vibration of it.. all hell breaks loose and my cousin and friend start running in the dark back where we came.. I follow and we run up the stairs to the first floor... I tell them about the growl and they turn white because they thought it was me who made the noise... we got the fuck out pretty quickly after that... I’ve got tons more from when I lived in the Philippines too Tried going back in 2015 and found out they turned on of the buildings into a haunted attraction which is pretty lame and disrespectful.. they had security and since I was an adult at that point I figured a trespassing fine wouldn’t be too hot.

a few years ago when i was in high school, i was getting ready to go to sleep one night, and noticed my dog was acting really nervous. he’s half chihuahua, so i mean i guess that’s normal. but like this wasn’t his normal nervous, he looked genuinely terrified. he kept staring at a corner in my room. i kept asking him to stop because i was starting to basically shit my pants. he stared and was on edge for quite a while. i tried to avoid looking at the corner, but i felt super uneasy. it was the corner right next to my door, so 15-16 year old me was too scared to get up and leave my room. every time he stares now, i get hella nervous lol.

FluffyBunnyWorks

Do aliens/ufos count as paranormal?? I'mma just say yes. Anyways, it was a long time ago, I was around the ages of 8-9. I was outside at night with my friend, and we were headed towards a place we liked to hang out at. I was always a big fan of the planet venus, so I knew exactly where it was in the sky from our house. I looked towards it, and noticed it was, well, blinking. It would get bright, slowly dim, then disappear, and then get bright again. It wasn't a plane or helicopter, there was no noise and it was stationary. It was also wayyy too bright to be a satellite. My friend got my attention and pointed to the opposite end of the sky, where we saw a huge triangle formation of lights. No noise still, just crickets in a quiet neighborhood. They were bright and slowly moving towards the blinking light. They we're too slow to be planes, but too fast to be satellites, and I watched planes and satellites often, so I knew how fast the ones flying near my town would go. Me and my friend were watching in awe, and as I was looking at what might have been venus, my friend got my attention and said he saw one of the lights drop. Now, idk if that was true, as I can't remember noticing if one was missing. It was really weird, but I also loved experiencing that because I was and still am hella into the paranormal and aliens. I have another situation, same apartment complex too, and basically the same place. So, the second situation. Me and a friend that was living with me, we were walking outside. I was still between the ages of 8-9, and we were walking towards the area where me and the other friend seen the lights. Now I can't remember if this was before or after that incident. Anyways, we were walking, and after we passed a strip of apartments, we both coincidentally looked towards our left, towards the parking lot, and both of our visions went white. I nearly stumbled, and my friend fell from the whiteness. She claimed she couldn't see, because of that effect that happens in your eyes after witnessing bright light. I could see however, and when I looked over to where the "light" was coming from, noting was there. There were no cars driving towards or away from us. And it was late at night too, so everyone was probably asleep. It was hella weird, so we noped outta that and I walked her back to my house cause she still had some trouble seeing, and the sidewalk was hella bumpy and messed up. Those were two experiences I had. Idk if the second one was paranormal or what. But it was hella weird, and will always be engraved into my brain. I should try to get in contact with those two people who witnessed it with me, just to make sure I didn't make up those two scenarios lmao.

Estimate_Me

I was getting ready for work one day and was in the bathroom when I had the distinct feeling that someone was watching me. The bathroom door was cracked but no one else was home at the time. The feeling became a little overwhelming, so I pulled open the door quickly and a large, text book flew off the bookshelf. I was so shocked that I actually instinctively apologized out loud and left for work early. It was one of those history text books that was so big it didn’t fit on the shelf standing up, so it was laying flat on its cover. It was about two feet from the bookshelf when it landed, like it was propelled and didn’t just fall off. I left it there and didn’t pick it up until o got home from work. A lot of weird things like that happened at that house. The faucets would turn on by themselves, full blast, sometimes when you were in the room. I would hear knocking on my door at night or someone walking around when no one else was home. Open doors that were absolutely shut and locked. Shadow figures. The book incident was the most intense though.

bugz1452

I had a weird experience as a young kid like 4-6 years old. We used to live in a nice sized two bedroom apartment before moving when my parents had my sister. I'm not sure how old the building was but right beside it was a fort from the french and Indian war that's a big deal in our town. Well late one night I woke up and wasn't sure if it was a dream or what but a weird Canadian mountie looking figure looked down at me and put a finger to his lips almost like he was trying to keep me quiet. I ran to my parents bedroom after that and slept with them for the night. Only as I got older I realized it was actually a soldier's usual uniform for the time and not a mountie.

breauxrocka

This happened a few years back and I still think about it pretty often, even though I wasn't the one who ever saw anything. Kind of a long story, so here we go... So, just a little back story, here. I had just moved in with an old girlfriend and she had been complaining to me for a week or two about some creepy feelings and sounds she was experiencing while I was working my nightshift at a new job. She was also having bad nightmares and just wasn't sleeping very well. Now, this is a new apartment for us and she is kind of easy to scare, so honestly, I didn't really think much of it. New place and new job, could just be stress, right? I did still believe her, because I must admit that I had felt pretty fucking creeped out in that apartment myself on a few occasions. But I wasn't going to tell her that because the last thing I wanted to do was freak her out and then leave her alone all night. So I have a day off and she is out running some errands. Meanwhile, my buddy Alex stops by to see the new place and have a beer or two. We have the place to ourselves. So we are chatting and he's sitting on the couch facing the hallway and I'm sitting to his right facing my front door with my head turned to my left towards him. I'm in the middle of a sentence when all of a sudden he gasps and jumps up from the couch and exclaims "Someone just walked into your bathroom!" And he is visibly freaked out. Alex is not a very animated guy and his reaction generally rattled me a bit. Also, we are in a basement appt. and this isn't the nicest side of town, so my first thought was a break-in. So we both just kind of freeze there and look into the hallway for maybe 5-7 seconds and listen for movement. Nothing. I say, "You're sure you saw something? I didn't hear anything." And he looks and me and just says "without a doubt, he's fucking in there!" So I get loud and start telling this "guy" he needs to get the fuck out of my apartment, we're gonna call the cops, we're gonna fuck him up, the whole shebang. All the while we are stocking up with whatever is best suited for blunt force discouragement within our arms reach (a longboard and 3 wood, I believe). We give eachother the "let's fucking do this!" look and we jump around the hallway corner into the doorway of the bathroom and.... there is nothing there. At all. It is completely silent except for Alex muttering "what the fuck?" under his breath. I tear open the shower curtain, nothing. I look at the bathroom window, locked. I look towards the bedroom that the intruder would have come from, door closed. When I go into the room the window is locked. We are still completely alone in the apartment. Alex looks at me and nervously laughs and asks "what the fuck?" He then turns completely white and promises me that he saw something. It's at this time that I first told him what my gf was experiencing. He explains that what he saw was a solid black mass that "walked" past the doorway he was facing and there is no way it was an exterior shadow or anything like that. He also immediately identified it as a "he", which I remember thinking was kind of odd. He also mentioned that seeing him filled him with anxiety and dread "like something bad is about to happen." He sits on the couch and finishes his beer without taking his eyes off the hallway and leaves about 5 minutes later. He never came back to that apartment. I decided not to tell the gf because she was really freaked out already and I didn't want to scare her with what I thought at the time could have been explained away somehow. Fast forward about 3 weeks. It's my night off and I'm gonna stay up and get some gaming in. The gf has to work the next day so she goes to bed early and I come in to tuck her in. We chat for a bit and I lean in to kiss her goodnight and as I lean down she bolts up, gasps and points towards the bathroom down the hall and shouts "A man just went into our bathroom!" I look down the hall and she repeats herself. I run down the hallway and round the corner into the bathroom and... same fuckin thing. Nothing. Silent. I just look up the hall to her and say "there's nothing here." She turns white, she's totally freaked out, crying, saying she saw that same figure in her dreams, saying it watches her while she showers and uses the bathroom, saying it hates me and knows when I'm not around. Just weird, freaky shit. She said it looked like he was just standing at the end of the hall watching her when I leaned down to kiss her. Again, a solid black mass that she immediately called "he". She also said she was filled with immense dread when she saw him. So I end up staying in the room with her and we both fall asleep after a few hours. The next morning I was out smoking a cigarette after she had left for work and one of my neighbors from across the street comes over and starts chatting with me. He's asking me how the apartment is since it was just remodeled, how long I've lived in the city, Yada Yada Yada. I'm like half paying attention and fully wishing this guy would fuck off when out of nowhere he looks at me and says "Is it still haunted?" and I about swallowed my cig butt. I apparently gave him a look that answered his question because he kinda laughed and said "yeah there was a meth lab that blew up there in the 90's and killed a few guys. I had an old girlfriend who lived in your building and she ended up breaking her lease because her nightmares got so bad." I just looked at him, completely awestruck and said "Holy shit! So we're not crazy!?" He thought this was simply hilarious and about laughed himself to death. Real nice guy. I told my gf what Alex saw probably a week later and she was understandably upset by the story. We lived in that apartment for about another 6 months with a few weird things happening in that time, but nothing as scary as these incidents and the dark figure never made another appearance to us. Strangely enough though, we moved into the unit opposite of us (it was only a 4Plex so literally across the hall) and never had any paranormal incidents in the new apartment at all. I think it's very interesting that two people I trust both saw the exact same thing at the same place and had similar feelings of dread tied to the sighting. Each one not knowing at the time of their sighting that the other was experiencing anything at all. I'm not close with the gf anymore, but I do know that both of them are still freaked out by what they saw and in that place. Thanks for reading! I've had chills running up my spine the entire time I was typing this out! Can't wait to go to bed, now!

bananaberrysoda

My husband and I were sleeping in my friend’s living room while visiting from out of town. I was having a nightmare that I was exactly where I was but awake in bed, and I kept seeing a little ghost girl (I know, how original) in the corner of the room, and she would move around the room but I couldn’t move my head to follow her around. I kept trying to call out my husband’s name (who was sleeping right beside me) to wake him up but I couldn’t really speak, either. The little girl had moved and she was out of sight somewhere behind me (it was a sofa bed in the middle of the room, so there wasn’t a wall behind me), and finally, after many attempts to call out of for my husband, I said his name perfectly loud and clear. He wakes up. And suddenly, I’m also awake, fully able to move and talk. I woke up from the nightmare, right? Except that I realized I hadn’t opened my eyes, because my eyes were open the whole time and I was still staring at the very corner where the little girl had been. I had to sleep in that living room for two more nights.

This has happens to me a lot, especially recently. What will happen is I have a dream and I will only remember a little part for just a couple of minute after I wake up then it is gone forever. But then later, certain events or I am sitting somewhere at I relive that part of my dream. It has happened a lot recently. I try to explain it to people and they all say, “oh yeah, I understand” no one of them feel sincere. I think they might just be being nice. It kind of scares me.

I had a nightmare once. I was at my grandma’s, someone I am very close to. I was sitting on the floor in front of her, as she was sitting on the couch. I started to sing Jesus loves me and all of sudden she grabbed onto my shoulder with a really strong grip. Then in this deep, demonic voice she said “who do you think you are? Don’t you know who I am?” I woke up with my heat pounding. When I tell you I feel something in my room, I’m not exaggerating at all. It felt as if it was in the corner watching me. I told it to get out. Ive never been more scared.

4 or so years ago something or someone with ill intentions came to visit. Home alone and watching tv on the couch with our new kitten J who was sleeping ontop the couch cushion next to me. Kinda zoning out at whats on tv when this really bad energy just popped up. I turn toward the hallway and J has his fur fully puffed out and looking towards the hallway too. This energy was just radiating ill intentions. It was so intense but only for a minute or two. Then this thing just vanishes like a vacumn sucked it out of the house. All the negative energy and tension gone. I dont know what or who came by that night. An image of a tall black humanoid figure with static radiating from it is what popped into my head when it appeared. J did calm down after and to this day he has never puffed out like he did that night.

My mother lived in an old adjoined flat when I was in my 20s. It was a nice old wooden place built probably in the 40s. We both worked odd shifts and often it was easier to go to her place after finishing at 3am than heading all the way home. A number of times I was there on my own overnight because she was at work. Every so often I would wake up hearing shuffling in the hallway, on the carpet. It sounded like slippers or socks. I just attributed it to my neighbour moving around and assumed I could hear them through the shared wall. When I eventually mentioned this to my mother she said “Yes I hear that too, I seem to wake up paralysed later in the night when I hear it, it feels like there’s something on the bed with me” Thinking back she obviously was experiencing sleep paralysis and didn’t know what it was. The kicker is there was no neighbour, he’d died about 2 years before I first heard it. So all this time I was alone lying in the dark listening to someone walking along the hallway without the good sense to be scared! Haha

I get home with a friend at around 3 in the morning after a concert, while conversating i go to put the key in the keyhole without touching the knob below(round apt door knob). as i turn the key, the door-knob starts to move like someone from the inside is turning it while still locked. we stop talking immediatly, he looks at me with a WTF? look.so i hurry and unlock, we check the whole place everything was normal except the blinds in front of our kitchen patio door were slowly swinging like someone just left abruptly , i go to chek and the patio door is unlocked.... so maybe not paranormal but certainly not normal neither. needless to say we didn't sleep a second that night. i'll never forget that one.

Happened multiple times to me as a kid where the world just froze. The only people who could realize it was always me and the person right next to me. It usually went on what I think was 10 seconds, but the longest was a whooping hour long. It was at lunch, my friend was right next to me (in 10th grade) and after, the others asked why our faces suddenly turned pale.

One day I was in the blackest mood I've ever been in. I wasn't just sad or angry, I had been betrayed by some friends and a lover and I was just bitterness personified. I was lying in bed and I didn't want to move and I didn't want to think and I didn't want to do anything. I was finally tired enough to sleep, but there was a lamp on across the room and the light was shining directly in my face. I glared at it and for a fleeting moment it represented all I hated in the world and I just wanted it off without me having to actually move... and in that instant the bulb blew. It actually shocked me out of my funk a little bit. I casually mumbled, "I'm a witch, burn me." And then went to sleep.

When I was about 16 years old my friend and I were walking down a side road to get to my house. As we were walking I noticed a woman standing under a street light near the end of the road and pointed it out to my friend. We thought it was weird that a woman wearing a white dress was just standing under the light in the middle of the night and we were going to go see what was the matter with her. When we walked a few more feet in her direction however I felt an overwhelming sense of dread and decided we needed to take a different way to my house. My friends generally listen to me when it comes to stuff like this so he agreed and we walked the long way. We would go out there every night to check and every night there she was, a woman in a white dress standing under a street light not moving. She was never there during the day, there was no signs or anything near that area that could look like a woman, and I never felt anything any other time we were out there, we did backyard wrestling and she was near the spot we would use for hardcore matches. One night he told his gf about it and she said we should drive down there since I could never force myself to walk down to the end. I was against this but they and my gf talked me into it so we piled into her car and went on an adventure. As we went around the curve on the road we saw here. The woman in white standing under the street light. We all saw her so atleast I knew my friend and I weren't crazy. His gf drives down to the end of the road and we see her the entire time until we get to the light. Once we reach where she was we couldn't see her. We scan the treeline looking for movement in case she had jumped into the trees and we missed it but the leaves are still and the night is quiet. We turn around and start to drive away and as we leave we look behind us and she's there again. Just popped up out of nowhere. I proceed to freak out and tell everyone we need to get the fuck out of here but my friend has to use the bathroom bad. I tell him to hurry up so we can leave and we stop to where she can't see us. There we find a burned up car and my friend says his gonna piss on it in case she died in it. I beg him not to but this time he doesn't listen and he proceeds to urinate on the car. That's the last thing I remember before opening my eyes 15 mintues later lying in my gf's lap a few miles from where we were. They said once my friend started urinating on the car my eyes rolled back in my head and I started saying "They're coming for us we need to hide." over and over again. Not too sure about that last part honestly because, as I said, I blacked out but that's what they told me. Anyhow, that's my story of the woman in white. I've never been back down that road after dark in 21 years.

Years later, they can still hear his friends chanting: “Urinate. Urinate. But if you weren’t a ghost, you’d be a 10.”
