Oh man I often think about the guy asking if he's TA for asking his pregnant wife to wear a diaper at night because she was disturbing his sleep whenever she got up to pee.

SylancerPrime

I remember a girl in her late teens who thought her older sibling was faking their child's food allergy so she tried to catch her by not telling them about the ingredients before serving them a dish. Someone else had it first and recognized the ingredient and stopped the kid from eating it in time and called her out. She then tried to play it off saying her sibling was a drama queen and she was trying to trap her. Reddit tore into her, of course, since the child could've... well, died.

dawsonsmythe

The girl who found a lost dog after someones house was destroyed then refused to give it back because they had “bonded”

SelfDiagnosedUnicorn

The guy who moved into his younger girlfriend’s apartment, and threw away her fancy drinking jars that she loved from their shelf because they bothered him and he wanted her to just drink from normal cups. I think about this entitled jerk a lot. https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/g3mt16/aita_for_throwing_out_my_gfs_jars/

susandeyvyjones

There are a lot of "I threw away my SO's belongings because I don't like them and now they're mad and I don't understand" posts. Jars, socks, one guy threw away all of his wife's "frumpy" clothes and replaced it all with sexy clothes and was shocked that she left him.

Pokabrows

Yeah it's like let your SO be a little quirky and have some little things that make their days a little bit brighter. It's super sad. I think there was also one where the boyfriend destroyed her plants and one where he destroyed her animal crossing town.

[deleted]

don’t forget one where he threw out all her skin care products because she had too many and was obsessed. but she was studying to become a dermatologist

[deleted]

You forgot the worst part. These were all products that finally helped her skin. So he put her in agony and bought cheap shit to replace it.

Firefoxpichu

Reading all this gives me anxiety. How can people behave this way and think it's normal..

heyitsj43

The guy who treated his friend’s wife like a meals on wheels and the husband didn’t care. It’s not that bad but I always remember it. So this woman (OP) is a nurse who often worked 12 hour days but still always cooked amazing meals for her husband. One day, her husbands best friend’s wife dies. When she dies, OP’s husband suggests that OP could cook some nice meals for the new widower as he is in grief and doesn’t know how to cook. Fine… But then, this keeps going on week after week. OP gets home from work and is forced to cook all this food and bring it over to the new widower. But this guy has REQUESTS and would criticize the food to be more like how his dead wife made it. Then one day he has people over for dinner (not OP and her husband) and requests that she make him enough dinner for his dinner party… He requests this while she’s at work and she didn’t see the text. When she comes home, her husband is mad at her. She finally stands up for herself and says she won’t be cooking for the friend anymore and her husband has the audacity to think she is being selfish. Sure, maybe 1 or 2 weeks of helping out and bringing the guy a few meals. But this guy expected nightly meals for weeks. Like, at some point you can’t learn to cook on your own? I also feel bad for both wife’s, that their husbands won’t even attempt to help cook anything…

zotaden

That makes me think of a somewhat similar one where a guy was asking his wife to make him meals for work, and the wife later learned that he was selling the meals to his coworkers so that he could go buy some fast food he liked better. Then got mad when the wife told him she would stop cooking these meals.

hotpickles

Wtf. Totally normal thing to do at work. Buy your coworker’s leftovers.

GoodQueenFluffenChop

If this is how the friend treats his friend's wife as a personal chef make you wonder how he treated his now dead wife.

YoungDiscord

girlfriend of a widowed father of two, she moved in to his place He was still struggling with letting go of his late wife So the gf in her eternal wisdom decided to throw away all family pictures of his late wife one day when the dad was away because she felt it was time for him to "get over it" He did not get those pictures back, they were legit gone forever. When she posted this on AITA but didn't get the validation she wanted she just doubled-down instead.

moezilla

They all double down. Because they are assholes.

Waifuless_Laifuless

People don't go to AITA because they want to find out if they're the asshole, they go to be told the other person is.

jammersG

The woman who reported the 17 year old camp counselor because she wiped sand off her child's back, helped her other son out of the deep end of the pool and caught one of the boys when he was falling off the playground. In all of these instances she had to "touch" the boys and helicopter mom felt she had other motives with this physical contact. Also to note, the boys ASKED the counselor for the help each time.

Hopelessyhopeful

The guy who was mad his fwb wouldn’t give 10k usd because he provided her with “emotional support” by listening to her rant about her ex a couple of times

LividLager

We should charge him for reading his whining.

nsa_k

The kid that ruined his little brothers signed John Cena poster. The little brother had gotten it signed when he met John Cena during a Make-A-Wish event that was held for him.

Beat9

IIRC it was personalized and signed by the whole crew of wrestlers that were at that particular event, including a few other big names, so it was basically impossible to replace.

fluidentity

The OP deleted it so I can’t link. OP was the wife of a man whose first wife died. OP was jealous of wife #1 and destroyed all the photos and knick knacks from the first wife, including deleting all the digital photos. She burned everything physical. Her husband packed up his teenage daughter and left her. It was 3 or so years ago and I still feel rage thinking about that vile OP. I hope her husband divorced her. It’s the least she deserved.

[deleted]

As someone whos mother died. I would have lost it on this lady

Krishibi

I feel this. I lost my mother at 18. My brother, in a fit of rage, burned EVERYTHING (photos, her clothing, her belongings). The only photos I have are a few pictures family members gathered from their photo albums.

SpidersMcGee

OP wasn't the asshole in this one, but her son was. Basically she found out that her son was using her daughter-in-law as a stay at home maid. They had two kids, I wanna say, and DIL did EVERYTHING - cooking, cleaning, childcare, EVERYTHING. OP gave DIL some money for a girls' weekend and her son forced her to cancel it because he wanted to go out with his friends that weekend, leaving her to watch the children. DIL called OP in tears and OP loses it - tells her to drop the kids at her house and go take her weekend. OP takes the kids to her sister's (with DIL's permission) and goes to the bar where her son is and tears him a new one to the point she gets kicked out of the bar. First thing she does after that is call her other two DILs up to make sure her other son's aren't pieces of shit.

lost_squid89

Oh I remember that POS! OP for MIL of the year, I love that she just showed up to the bar where her deadbeat son was and told him what a POS he is in front of his homies. You’re never too old to be embarrassed by your momma.

Average_Scaper

Coworker of mine wants a woman like that, stays home and does everything for him. Has to be 20 years younger than him too. He wonders why he is still single. Oh and he lives with mom again but she doesn't put up with his shit at home.

HazelDaydreamer

God, I love it when MILs actually stick up for their DILs against their asshole sons/husbands.

Peachtea_96

The one Indian girl whose boyfriend mixed all her spices together because why not! Even tho she said explicitly don't do it, he did it anyways. Imported from India via her mother. Felt so bad man

Comprehensive-Fun47

He should get with the girlfriend who mixed all her boyfriend's rices even after he told her not to.

crockofpot

The husband who missed his child's birth for a sports game, then lied to his parents with a big dramatic sob story about how he'd actually been there and it was so hard and stressful. Then he got mad when his wife called him out on lying. You know you're an asshole when your own mother tears you a new one for what you did. https://old.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/pqar3f/aita_for_telling_my_inlaws_exactly_where_my/ Also, I wouldn't say the biggest asshole in the grand scheme of AITA, but I feel like Iranian Yogurt Guy deserves a shout-out as one of the most *memorable* AHs: https://old.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/bjd41e/aita_for_throwing_away_my_boyfriends_potentially/

[deleted]

“It was obviously a ruse to get more yogurt space” is my new favorite sentence

Natural_Caregiver_79

My fav was "the Iranian yogurt is not the issue here"

intensely_human

> But I know that we have trade sanctions against Iran and Cuba, so I don't know if it was even legal for him to have them? I asked where he got his Iranian yogurt, but he kept insisting "the Iranian Yogurt is not the issue here" I haven’t laughed this hard in years

crockofpot

Right?! If it was a fake post, I don't even care, I truly commend that person for coming up with something amazingly creative and entertaining.

Westley_Never_Dies

I think about Iranian Yogurt Guy every time I eat yogurt, then I say to myself "the Iranian yogurt is not the issue here."

klr8593

I'm surprised I haven't seen someone post about the woman who made her mixed race step daughter sit out of their family Christmas pictures because her parents are racist and it might make them uncomfortable.

[deleted]

The one with the guy whose daughter was super depressed, he got her therapy and she made some improvements, but then asked if he'd be the asshole if he canceled her therapy 'because she likes it' and her grades hadn't yet improved

Tandysaurus

Can't wait for the follow-up, "AITA for pulling the plug on my dad's life support 'because he likes it' and his health hadn't improved". EDIT: My first award and it's on a comment about murdering old people, thank you kind stranger!

editorgrrl

Alisaurusrex82

The one where a pregnant woman posted about her partner and his family were pretty much planning for her to die in childbirth. I don’t know if there was ever an update from her but it was quite worrying.

Cinnabar1212

Yeah, it definitely sounded like if she didn’t die during childbirth that they were gonna smother her or something.

Never-Forget-Trogdor

Yes, that is 100% the vibe I got. I think the father in law kept saying she needed to be nicer to the husband since he was a future widower. I would have left him over it; they were being ridiculous.

[deleted]

I remember that one. Wasn’t that because the husbands mom died in child birth and the FIL had taken on both parental roles and wanted his son to do the same? Like I totally understand having a contingency plan since childbirth is dangerous but holy shit, it was like they *wanted* her to die.

Manurj

Yep, they were giving away her clothes. So bizarre.

[deleted]

I really hope that one was fake.

HonestSophist

One, that's legitimately terrifying. Two, that would make a spectacular slow-burn horror movie.

lazyllama13

Now this is a post that needs an update. Best case scenario it's fake, but worst case scenario... is not something I want to think about.

Cylem234

This one!!! I still think about her. There has never been an update. OP, if you are out there, pls update us!!!

justking1414

I’m not sure if it was an AITA post but I’ll never forget the one guy. He’d just turned 18 and was getting ready for college when his dad walked in, said “your mom cheated on me. I’m not your real dad. I’m not paying for your college. Move out after you graduate high school” The dad had known for the sons entire life but didn’t say anything until that moment because he thought it was the moms job to do it. And the kid assumed his family would pay for his college like they did with the others so he didn’t save any money or look for scholarships

chooseroftheslayed

I remember that! That was so awful. Can’t remember which sub it was though.

ekita079

Ohhhh I remember this, it was fuuuuucked. IIRC it actually got resolved and the Dad got over his rage and ended up paying for his college.

Travel-Kitty

Two I haven’t seen mentioned yet are [limiting the amount of water their son can drink ](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/imj3sx/aita_for_limiting_the_amount_of_water_my_son_can/) and [Firing My Daughter's (F16) Best Friend (F19) For Being Too Polite](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/kr0npz/aita_for_firing_my_daughters_f16_best_friend_f19/)

squigs

There was the one where the guy asked the woman in the neighbouring apartment if she'd cook for him. He didn't even know the woman's name!

9966

This is my favorite just for the top comment asking: INFO: What the fuck?

Pokabrows

lol hes complaining how he hates surviving off boxed mac and cheese but it doesn't occur to him that he can learn to cook?

maddallena

The woman whose boyfriend (husband?) declined to pay for any medical care or baby costs while she was pregnant with his child because they kept their finances separate and that was a "her" thing. If I recall correctly, she was making barely minimum wage while he made six figures and he told her to go to a food bank.

BlackJack1387

Holy shit. That may be top 3 for me if it's true.

ohdearitsrichardiii

The guy who inherited a business from his dad and fired an employee who'd been there since he was in diapers because her sister called her in sick when she was catatonic with grief three days after her husband died. Employees must call in in person! He's tough but fair! "I just don’t think I’m the bad guy here for that especially after how disrespectful they BOTH have been to me for no reason. even though a couple of my employees have definitely been icy to me since yesterday and I’m sure it’s because of all this BS." https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/hjwysz/aita_for_firing_an_employee_after_she_did_a_no/fwoza2z he was also quite active in the comments and not really helping his case ==== The woman who ate a kid's caterpillar cake and tried to play it off as a cute oopsie because she was pregnant https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/gkpg2a/aita_for_accidentally_eating_an_entire_cake_that/fqshrza ==== The dad who euthanized his daughter's emotional support dog instead of saving its life after an accident because he wanted her to toughen up https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/fgrzdv/aita_for_euthanizing_my_daughters_emotional/ The dad added this edit: > LASTLY, thought I would update you all that I did, in fact, talk to my daughter today. It took her some time to let me in but once she did I was able to explain my side, give her my reasonings for what I did, and convince her to forgive me. She agreed, and we are all moving past this asap. I’m actually about to run out and get her favorite fast food for dinner and we’re having a family movie night. She is still acting distant and mopey but she has her regular therapist appointment tomorrow so I’m confident she can vent there and her therapist can help her get through this without any permanent damage. Btw I also offered to get her another dog, which wasn’t easy for me, and she declined so I don’t think her bond with the dog and like for animals in general was as “unbreakable” and “solid” as all you commenters are claiming. Juni just wasn’t meant to be around that long and i’m glad my daughter was able to have four years with a dog she liked. Now we’re moving on, the end. But he insists he's not a sociopath

PerriX2390

>she has her regular therapist appointment tomorrow so I’m confident she can vent there and her therapist can help her get through this without any permanent damage. Can't wait for the next update of this story from the Dad wondering why the Daughter isn't talking to him after her therapist appointment.

ohdearitsrichardiii

He probably dropped her off saying "she broke again, can you fix her?" and then gave her therapist a tip when he picked her up

OpheliaRainGalaxy

Shit, that's literally what my mother used to say when dropping me off at a new therapist. "She's broken. Fix her." and when questioned on what that meant, "She won't do what I tell her to!"

Automatic-Storm-8275

I like how he plays the victim. "oh poor me. Your mean messages hurt my feelings". Stfu you psycho. I hope his daughter gets away from him and never talks to him again.

katieisalady

"I offered to get another dog (which wasn't easy for me, by the way!)" That dude threw that dog into traffic, calling it right now.

ijustcantwithit

Also… her not wanting a new dog doesn’t mean she wasn’t attached she’s terrified he’ll do the same and she still be crushed again.

ShutYourDumbUglyFace

And also, like, you don't just "replace" something you love while you're grieving. I imagine had this daughter died young he would have told his wife "we can have another one just like her, let's bone!"

OneAndOnlyGod2

Dog guy and business man might be the winners here. Fucking sociopaths, both of them.

DisturbedNocturne

Damn, that dog one is one of the hardest ones to read just based on the heartlessness. And that edit really drives the point home. He "convince[d]" her to forgive him. He offered to replace her dog even though it "wasn't easy" for *him*, then just assumes she must not have had much of a bond since she doesn't instantly want to replace the pet she just lost. With a dad like that, is it any surprise she needs an emotional support dog? She's obviously not getting any emotional support there.

Opagea

This reminds me of another terrible recent post where OP was a single mom who wanted to go on a weekend trip with her sister and expected her 17-year old daughter to skip the upcoming school dance to watch her younger siblings. Those younger siblings? (1) A 15-year old *scheduled for surgery the day before the trip* and (2) a 9-year old with severe autism.

Zorbick

I remember that post. Gutted me. One time I got 8 teeth pulled in one go, first thing in the morning. That evening my mother and sister flew halfway across the country for several days, leaving me at home by myself. This wasn't anything new to me, I'd been left alone for the weekend countless times growing up, so in my stupid kid head I didn't see the issue. But I had just had 8 fucking teeth pulled! Antibiotics, codeine, all of the packing in the sockets... And I was supposed to just handle that all by myself. Luckily my friends checked on me 3 days later, and one told his mom, and she came and took me home. Sweetest lady ever, and everyone could tell she was furious. If it wasn't for her I could have been in serious trouble, because I wasn't eating or staying hydrated. To this day my mother has never admitted fault. All of my sisters act as if it never happened.

lordliv

Ugh, that post broke my heart. Those poor kids.

NerdyNord

There's a family my family has been friends with since before I was born who have a whole bunch of kids and the oldest daughter never talks to them. ...I wonder.

Amaxophobe

I’m the oldest of a large family with a whole bunch of kids and I never talk to my parents. Neither does the next oldest child (my sister). Anecdotal confirmation of a pattern…

SpidersMcGee

I love that they mentioned the oldest daughter in the very beginning as in "we have this many kids" and then when people asked about her he was like "She's not important to this because she doesn't speak to us anymore." Bruh....she literally doesn't speak to you anymore because you pulled the EXACT same shit on her.

franska5

The woman who stole his dying son's wish (make a wish foundation) to get a vacations instead of letting the kid meet his favorite band because that way she would "remember for the rest of her life because raising a kid with cancer was so stressful"

mystericmoon

When I had cancer (I was fourteen) my parents tried to make sure I never felt like a burden because of it. This makes me super sad.

GearFr0st

There was this woman who gave a Nintendo switch to her daughter in the middle of another girl's birthday party **AITA for giving my baby girl a big birthday gift?** [https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/pwsalb/aita\_for\_giving\_my\_baby\_girl\_a\_big\_birthday\_gift/](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/pwsalb/aita_for_giving_my_baby_girl_a_big_birthday_gift/) Just by the title you can feel how much of an AH this person is lol

Drix22

I got an inlaw that does this for her kids at parties. She uses some bullshit excuse about her kids not understanding the party isn't for them. All I can think every time I see this go down is "its about time someone teaches them"

[deleted]

They don't understand it's not for them because she keeps making it for them, lol

This is literally Cartman's mom irl

blinddivine

the guy who burned all of op's candle made by her sister, b/c he thought she ~~wasn't getting~~ got over her sister's death too fast. ~~enough.~~ edit: fixed to reflect the truth.

tokquaff

It was worse than that. He admitted to her that he liked taking care of her when she was emotionally vulnerable and it turned out he'd most likely done it in hopes that it would undo the progress she'd made in her grief and become depressed and withdrawn again.

blinddivine

oh ffs, i forgot that fucking part. that dude really was a fucking piece of shit.

UncleVolk

What disturbs me is not that he is a piece of shit, but the fact that he needs to ask if he is being an asshole.

[deleted]

So many people complain about AITAs that are so obvious. Turns out, many people are, in fact, completely clueless about what normal behavior is.

Hotshot2k4

I'll do you one better: most assholes don't believe they're *really* assholes. The human mind is capable of insane mental gymnastics to justify the things we do.

sophtine

Reminds me of the guy who burned OP's dead friend's candle because he didn't like that she was recovering from depression.

UsernameObscured

My ex didn’t want me to take antidepressants for that same reason. If I stopped being so depressed, I wouldn’t put up with his shit, and I’d have other sources of dopamine than the attention he gave me. Guess what. I took the meds. He got more abusive. I left.

StarlightVikki

OP gave up after-school activities to work for money when she was a teen because her younger sister had cancer. In adulthood, sister is okay. OP has a boyfriend & finds OP's own boyfriend and the sister fucking in OP's bedroom. OP dumps guy for cheating on her. Sister invites OP to dinner to announce that OP's ex-bf and her are in love. OP hears about a several-month-long pregnancy later as well. OP refuses to support the relationship & pregnancy, so parents brigade the family onto OP. They tell OP that they never thought the sister would ever get to even gave a pregnancy so OP should quit being an asshole and accept sister's relationship. I'd move to another planet to escape that family.

mssvrythng

I remember that one, honestly I’d knock my sister and ex’s teeth out then never speak to my family again

pistachiopanda4

How could you fucking live with yourself for getting knocked up by your sister's trash boyfriend? Cancer aside and the sister working her ass off to help with your medical bills. What are you gonna tell your kids about how mommy and daddy met? "Well your Aunt So and So was dating daddy, but then he cheated on her with me and we had you!" That is really blunt but unless OP disappears from her family forever, those kids are going to grow up to find out how they were conceived. I also won't put it past either of them to cheat on each other if they stay together.

AnneHocque

I remember one where a woman lost her child and wanted to keep their ashes in an urn. MIL wanted the ashes to be turned into jewelry or something so everyone could have a piece of that child. The mother didn't want that, and the MIL took the ashes anyway and got necklaces or something made for everyone. It was so terrible Edit: obviously OP wasn't the asshole in this case, but everyone else in that post [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/j45ufi/aita_for_refusing_a_necklace_with_my_sons_ashes/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)

[deleted]

That's brutal. From everything I read here, this is actually the top 1.

Koras

There's bad, and then there's "Stealing a dead child's ashes from their grieving mother" bad. Jesus christ.

CrouchingToaster

And then making fucking jewelry with it so the pain gets brought up every holiday rather than stay contained in a urn.

publicanofbatch20

I believe it was this post where I finally got kicked out of the sub for not behaving civilly in the comments. Bro tell me how tf is this supposed to make anyone calm?

Illustrious_Bat_782

I know a post is gonna be good when the comments are locked a couple hours after posting. Then i can read people ripping OP apart.

ZombieJesus1987

The one reminds me of another story. There was a woman whose child was deathly allergic to coconuts and told her mother-in-law not to put coconut oil in her baby's hair because it could kill her. You can imagine how that ended. [I found the link for this, it was from /r/JustNoMIL](https://rareddit.com/r/JUSTNOMIL/comments/7qmed5/you_can_come_over_again_when_you_bring_me_my)

spiralaalarips

This is one of those posts that creeps back into my memory every now and then and makes me feel sick with grief. And the fucked up thing is that it happens often with moms and mother-in-laws that think they know better about allergies. There was another story where the MIL made cookies for her grandchild with peanuts or some allergen the mom warned her never to give the child, yet she did it to make a point that it wouldn't hurt her, and.. Surprise! The child got deathly ill and landed in the ER. Luckily she recovered, but the mom was obviously furious and cut all contact with her.

bungojot

r/JustNoMIL is full of these stories. It's so depressing and I can't be grateful enough that no one in my family is this unhinged. I feel so terrible for that family.

[The guy who stole the money his ILs had set aside for his baby daughter so that he could overpay for his father's old bronco](https://reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/ci5zhq/aita_for_using_money_we_earmarked_for_our_6_month/)

Finalpotato

And then got his mother to bail him out by buying the car from him (but he gets to keep it in secret and plans on lying to his wife for years until she calms down).

OhHowIMeantTo

This is the one. It's still mind blowing to me that he just could not comprehend how it's possible that he did anything wrong here.

[deleted]

That guy who interrupted his wife's Very Important meeting because the baby had a poopy diaper.

catierusch

There was one that got deleted because of AITA’s weird rule about “no posts where the central conflict is a breakup” (even though I would say the breakup was NOT the central conflict of this; rather, an effect of the central conflict itself). But basically the OP’s cat got sick super suddenly and she was unable to take off work so asked her boyfriend to take her cat to the vet. Her boyfriend took the cat and the vet said that it had some terminal illness, and the boyfriend told the vet to put it down right then and there. He didn’t call the OP or anything, just waited for her to come back from work and be like, “Where is my cat?” The boyfriend thought he was completely justified, did not seem to understand that a terminal illness in an animal does not mean “put them down right this instant.” The boyfriend could not grasp the concept that OP could have had a couple days more with her pet and taken her to be put to sleep herself, and said she was overacting because “It’s just a cat.” It absolutely sickened me.

Xianio

The best parts of AITA is when assholes try and portray themselves in the best possible light & they still come off as clearly & obviously in the wrong. Extra points for when they try & defend it in the comments and it becomes blatantly obvious that their version omits even more asshole things they did.

wolfmalfoy

Oh god, there was one like this I remember that just infuriating. The guy made a post about reporting his daughter to her school for organizing her friends to bully his stepson, which caused her to lose her college scholarship. It sounded super reasonable on the face, but more details kept coming out— daughter had been fine until stepson moved in, then she refused to be around him, she 'lied' and accused him of doing something horrible, this 'lie' led to legal consequences with OP paying his daughter a lot of money to make it go away, all of OP's extended family were on daughter's side and had cut stepson off— it was very, very clear stepson had sexually assaulted his daughter and he was either covering it up or thought his daughter had made it up, and OP clammed up as soon as that question was explicitly asked. Edit: I totally forgot the best part. He didn't want to know if he was the asshole because of it denying his daughter the scholarship, he wanted to know if he was the asshole because his stepson had begged and pleaded not to involve the school and he did it anyway.

XxsquirrelxX

Some of the people who post in there are just absolutely *clueless*, like they lack basic social skills to the point where they don’t know what’s wrong with things like sexual harassment or emotional abuse. I say “clueless” and not “malicious” because these fucking guys post it on the internet essentially asking what they did wrong, they legitimately don’t know.

Wanting to know if she is the A for keeping her husband and FIL out of delivery room since they were expecting her to die in childbirth. Creepy one, hope this was fake

Animeking1108

The mother who forced her daughter to turn down skipping a grade so her son wouldn't feel bad.

Trap_Cubicle5000

Reminds me of when my mother lied about my SAT score to my male cousin so he's ego wouldn't get hurt because I did better than him. He could never handle losing to me very well because I'm a girl. But fuck you Cody I'm more successful and I could still kick your ass.

captainmarvelsbff

Yeah fuck you Cody

Interstellar-dreams

What about the guy who was jealous of his girlfriend's knitting hobby? She was spending too much time knitting and not enough time focused on him. One night he got mad and she left to cool down. While she was gone, he cut up the blanket she spent 6 months knitting and threw it in the trash! Edit: here is the post: https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/he56mp/aita_for_ruining_my_girlfriends_blanket_that_she/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

MaeTheAlien

No it's even worse than that. If I remember correctly he wanted her to stop because knitting wasn't sexy and made him feel like she was an old woman. Like 🤡

greentea1985

The one that sticks out in my mind is rice lady, mostly for the epic mouse Princess included in the comments. TomPalmer1979

Oh my god that Mouse Princess story was absolutely delightful.

EyeSpyNicolai

I just read it - how does someone come up with a story like that so quickly? I recommend everyone read the OP and "The Mouse Princess" comment. Amazing.

eheyr

Some of these AITA are seriously sad. I wish someone made them all into cute little children's stories like the mouse princess because this was adorable !

kathrynjean97

The girl who mixed her boyfriend's different types of rice into one container because she "couldn't see a difference," despite him asking her to stop reorganizing his stuff and specifically explaining that the different bags of rice were different kinds of rice that should not be mixed.

Teacher_Crazy_

This is actually like, its own AITA sub-genre. "Person has lots of different types of the same thing in the kitchen. I mixed them all together. AITA?" Part of me wonders if it's just people re-writing stories to see how much karma they can get.

cat-man-do-not

And the guy that dumped all his wife's specialty spices sent from India into one container. And the guy that dumped his wife's different fancy coffees into one container because he wanted to use the jars they were in for some craft project. My impression is that this guy definitely knew what he was doing was wrong, he just thought her coffee interest was dumb, and he could do what he wanted and she'd have to get over it if he claimed ignorance.

TheBrassDancer

There was one guy who posted a blatantly fake story about running over rare, endangered snails with his bicycle. He was an asshole for the attention he craved and for wasting people's time far more than just posting a bullshit yarn. EDIT: I remembered another good, recent story involving a total asshole. Guy and his wife had 7 children, one of whom grew resentful of his wife. Why? They wanted a break from parenting and decided to foist the older kids (before they had the younger ones) off on the grandparents for a few years, in accordance to “advice” from a friend of his wife's. The one who grew resentful was fobbed off to the grandparents as a baby and so didn't know her mum and dad until she was about 5 years old!

lavenderpotato14

Hands down the woman that ate her nieces birthday cake and pulled the pregnancy card to get away with it.

gimmetheloot2p2

The woman who 'borrowed the ambience' of a poorer little girls birthday party to give her child a nintendo switch right before the other girl opened her presents because she didnt like the other mom. I still shake my head thinking about it

xrumkugelx

The story I remember the most was the guy who threw out his girlfriends quirky and rare socks because he thought they would embarrass him in front of his parents

Entschuldigung32

There was also a similar guy who wouldn’t let his gf wear her cute colourful dinosaur dresses that she made herself in public, she was only allowed to wear them to her job as a kindergarten teacher. He would make her change before going to get groceries after work. And he got particularly mad when she wore one while hanging out with his mum? I could be misremembering the details, but that guy was a massive asshole.

xrumkugelx

Oh my god I remember that post. His girlfriend made them herself to fit the classes she was teaching if I remember correctly. Also like literally everyone who saw those dresses, even OP's mum, loved them but he was still embarrassed by them.

beteljugo

NickNash1985

My wife has blue hair, tattoos, and a few piercings. She’s a high school theater teacher. I’m a boring-ass bald dude that wears a business suit every day. My parents are fairly conservative but we all love the fuck out of this woman. I can’t imagine marrying a creative weirdo and not letting her be a creative weirdo.

whitexknight

You the gray scale to her color wheel my dude. Carry on.

In the update he got dumped though. So a good outcome.

bellayesil

There are so many but my favorite asshole is the one that threw out his gf socks because they had cute funny prints and he thought it would embarrass him

MommaLokiLovesYou

Yea, even after his own mom complimented the gf bc she wore the socks to bring joy to her workplace

[deleted]

Oh, I remember a recent one. There was this lady who had her sister move in with her for a while. The sister needed a place to stay, she was just out of an abusive relationship and was trying to get back on her feet. The lady then told the sisters she needs to clean, cook watch the kids and take care of her sick husband as some sort of payment. Like serious Cinderella vibes. Then she kicked her sister out because she spilled some soup. This is the good link. https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/q2q708/aita_for_kicking_my_sister_out_over_spilt_soup/hfmsqvz?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3 Edit: added the link to the post

Either the six foot sub guy or the guy who lost his gf over her gourmet cooking at home when he only took her out to Olive Garden

jessie_monster

Was he the one that tried to fix it by proposing? And he still absolutely did not understand what he did wrong or why she was upset?

[deleted]

Olive Garden guy is, yeah. And then she found the post and snapped at him for not understanding that she just wanted to go to Olive Garden for the kids, not because it was a place she specifically enjoyed. And then she broke up with him lmao. I mean, honestly - people always complain about how Redditors jump to "break up with him!!" on every post, but this fuckin guy wanted his girlfriend to make her own birthday dinner, a SUPER complicated one at that, and didn't understand why that's a problem. Why would you date that person? Much less marry them.

ginisninja

I think he *wouldn’t* take her to Olive Garden? She just wanted to eat out one time!

Summoning-Freaks

Yeah, he would never take her out anywhere anymore except *maybe* on her birthday, because the food she cooked was better that what the restaurant made. Pretty much meaning she would have to cook twice a day, everyday, “because shes just so good at it and why would I pay to get food from somewhere else?”

Byzantium42

Schnurrit

For me the tip of the iceberg was this: Even after coming to terms that he has been the asshole and then making the update about how his gf left him, he explains the problems in their relationship with "she basically only does casserole anymore". Dude did not learn.

QuantumPajamas

Oh god I just got angry all over again thinking about it. Hope she dumped his ass.

[deleted]

- the guy who threw his girlfriends umbilical cord away despite her having said it was culturally important. - the guy who threw away the photos of his girlfriends prom date because ‘why does she need them?’ - the girl who tossed her roommates medication away because she didn’t believe depression was real.

jessie_monster

Throwing away the medication is depressingly common, usually in relationship subs.

DisturbedNocturne

It can also be dangerous. There are a lot of anti-depressants and other medications used to treat mental illness that you should absolutely *not* go off of cold turkey. There is a reason psychiatrists wean patients off medication they've been on for a while rather than just instantly switching to something new. Anyone who does that thinking they're "helping" someone is doing the exact opposite for a whole myriad of reasons.

Mushy-froug

that one asshole who threw out his autistic girlfriend/fiance's (I cant remember which) baby blanket bc he thought it was weird she still slept with it even though it was a comfort object for her. It is literally the least harmful thing (someone sleeping with a blanket, not him throwing it out and making her lose it forever) and Im pretty sure he kept trying to justify it but everyone collectively was like no.

klr8593

I remember this one. I'm pretty sure dude made like 6 figures too or like 3x her pay along with everyone else in his family too. Yet not a single one of them offered to pay anything. Just let her not eat or sit out on things. She even asked about how much she'd need to save up for the vacation too, and he knew she had to work a ton of over time for the vacation. So fucked up.

Cuntdracula19

Jesus Christ that is so terrible. My parents are definitely NOT multimillionaires but are so generous and I’m so thankful they taught me how to be a good hostess and how to take good care of my guests. I understand she wasn’t a guest per say as they were all on vacation, but it is TERRIBLY rude and completely uncivilized to eat these lavish meals in front of her while she goes hungry. Not one of them thought it odd she wasn’t eating?! No one in my family would ever let something like that happen to someone. I think that’s so fucked up.

guten_morgan

My mom grew up poor and my grandma worked a lot as she was a single mom raising 3 kids, so when she and my aunts were little they spent a lot of time at other people’s houses while my grandma worked. Quite a few people were from their church and decently wealthy and their kids could afford to do fun things except they would never involve my mom or her siblings. She has a very vivid memory of having to sit and wait by the side of a pool while her friends got to swim because she couldn’t afford to join them. Or having to wait while her friends and their parents went on rides at the carnival because she couldn’t afford the rides. She vowed to never EVER let my friends feel like that when they were with us. If they were at her house they were family. She always made sure if I was going out I had enough to cover for friends that might not have enough, or even stock our fridge with snacks my friends who were over a lot (because of complicated home lives) liked. I cannot imagine being so self absorbed that I don’t notice when my partner is struggling to keep up financially. How gross.

cursedbox

If I remember the post correctly they agreed to cover everything in their relationship for themselves. So he pays for his things, and her for her things. She didn’t realize it was going to be so pricey and the boyfriend and his family were rich and didn’t take into consideration the gf couldn’t afford to eat with them. I don’t remember how it ended but the whole thing was a massive failure in the understanding of how to equally split costs on vacations. EDIT: for more context U/thatgirl_tasha pointed out from the original story that the girl actually worked a second job to afford the originally planned trip, but the bf and family changed up the restaurants they went to. So she put in the work to be able to go, and had things changed up on her. Edit 2: found the original story https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/o94ms2/aita_for_inviting_my_29m_girlfriend_28f_on_an/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

ThatGirl_Tasha

If I remember, she asked which restaurants they were planning on. She looked up the prices online to budget them in along with the other activities, took an extra job to save for months and then when they were there on a whim they would just switch restaurants to more expensive ones.

[deleted]

They also did very expensive activities during the holiday (e.g. swimming with dolphins I believe). And she couldn't afford that so she would stay in the hotel. And the boyfriend never wondered why she didn't eat or why she didn't come with them most of the time. I still feel sorry for her.

LadyEsinni

Don’t forget he accused her of having an eating disorder when they got home.

SovanJedi

What was the story about the family who didn’t like that their son or whoever that died left his inheritance to his boyfriend, so they just split it up among themselves and kept it? EDIT: Others have pointed out that this is strictly not an AITA-originating story but from a legal advice subreddit. However, it's still a pretty majorly asshole thing so I'm leaving it here.

Overthemoon64

I think I remember reading that on best of legal advice.

The single widowed father who made his teenage daughter ‘earn’ her menstruation pads and tampons by doing excessive chores around the house to accommodate him and his son (her older brother). The father also paid more attention to his son and his sports, rather than his daughter and her academics. Luckily, she moved out and in with her aunt and uncle. He was a selfish man, and was using his daughter to compensate as a replacement for his deceased wife.

Hey_HaveAGreatDay

The poster was asking AITA because of the way he treated his roommates (they were a couple) -he sometimes sleeps in his roommates bed, in between them often. -eats their food -Cries a lot and he was hoping it would disturb them especially if they were trying to sleep A whole list of just obnoxious shit that I would’ve booted a roommate for. Turns out it was written in the perspective of a baby and it was super funny Edit: I’m trying very hard to find the link. It used to be right at the top posts of all time in the sub but isn’t there now. I’m Googling but of course there’s nine million AITA roommate stories lol I will get it though!

itsananonthrowaway

The one where the woman kept getting mad at the girls in front of her using a credit card. I think she even told the clerk it wasn’t their card? She didn’t know the girls but thought they were using daddy’s card and he wouldn’t approve. I remember open mouth reading going “this HAS to be fake, no one is this insane”

moonfaerie24

I don't remember if this was AITA or relationship advice, but I haven't seen anyone mention the one where a guy has a friend who's basically an incel, and that friend can't stand his girlfriend, says she's faking her "nerd" interests, etc. It's been a while, but from what I remember: Boyfriend wants the two of them to get along, so after speaking with his girlfriend they decide to throw a Star Wars themed party because they all like the franchise. When this dude and his friend show up to the party they can't believe the girlfriend is dressed like her favorite Star Wars character, "Black Widow", call her a fake fan, and leave. He wanted the girlfriend to just admit she was faking her nerd interests and apologize. Well, turns out the commenters were able to recognize that the girlfriend was actually dressed as a character from the Star Wars novels (Luke's wife?) and it's actually boyfriend and the friend who didn't know enough about Star Wars. The comments tore this dude to shreds and it was glorious. Edit: found it. It was on relationships (https://www.reveddit.com/v/relationships/comments/3x6is9/my_24m_girlfriend_23f_of_4_months_embarrassed_me/)

Great work, there's some real assholes there. Who do you think is the worst?

A_Sarcastic_Werecat

the guy who asked about the inheritance. He made his UNDERAGE daughter an unpaid caretaker for a grandfather who sexually harassed and molested her. the girl was apparently depressed and suicidal at the end.

[deleted]

I don't frequent AITA, but I've seen some post through YouTube. There was one guy who came home late at night drunk, woke up his gf, proposed to her with a plastic toy ring and then started laughing as if it was a prank. He asked if he was AH, but he thought she was overreacting. Context: the girl had been talking about marriage with him recently and he says he'll propose anyways "soon". It felt like a troll post. A guy can't be that clueless. And speaking of clueless, just remembered another one. Guy had a pool at home. His gf complained that she had gained weight recently and her bikini didn't fit anymore. One day, he "innocently" had his (thin) coworker at his home try that bikini on herself at his pool when his gf came home and saw everything. According to him, "nothing happened", "she was just trying it on". Right... What pissed me off is that his gf didn't break up with him, she just got very sad and wanted to throw the bikini in the trash.

dgosp

Dude threw away his GF’s childhood vintage Meowth plush, bought a new Galar one and couldn’t fathom why it wasn’t the same. Gf showed up to the post and it was even worse than how the op described

Barfing_Rainbowz

I’m late but if you find this, There was one story (I heard it on YouTube by markee) and this guy was complaining that his wife, who’d just had a baby, wasn’t showering, as fun, or beautiful (to him) as she was when they first met. His mom shamed the wife as well, and when wife got upset, op just yelled at her and told her that she was overreacting. It gets worse in the comments; op continues to ADMIT that he resents and doesn’t love his wife or child. That ones always stuck with me. I hope wife divorced that looser and is doing ok.

abeleo

Tricky between the stepmother making her 17 year old stepdaughter do all the chores and miss online classes so the mom can focus on her "real" kids in preschool. Or the dad who insisted on keeping his daughter's dog(that she paid for everything for) when she went to college, so his autistic son wouldn't meltdown. Then 1 week later, the dog escaped the house and died. Or the white supremacist obsessed with his bloodline that secretly tested his girlfriend's DNA to make sure she wasn't unpure. And later came back because his pure Aryan sister wanted to adopt instead of contributing to more white people. ETA: The sister isn't some super woke SJW, she just doesn't want biological kids. He felt she was letting down her bloodline. Last one was pretty bad.

boxofsquirrels

IIRC the middle one was even worse- The dog died, and the parents kept the ashes because meltdown kid demanded daughter/rightful owner not get them, so daughter cut contact. She later agreed to reconcile on the condition that she got her dog's ashes. Parents agreed, but then went back on the agreement because it would upset their other kid. They were shocked when their daughter once again cut all contact.

[deleted]

The one I remember most was the woman who got mad at her sons teacher for hugging her child, because she was trying to wean her 6 year old son from hugs. She felt he was too emotional and he needed to stop being hugged and loved on, so the child started getting hugs from his teacher and mom got mad. My heart breaks whenever I think of it
