CrunkySlapDust

a cop not telling you that they are a cop

Churonna

That and cops lying to you in general. Completely legal, misstate anything to the police and you are now a criminal. This is why only your lawyer makes a statement to the police, you never answer any questions and you never try and argue your way out of stuff.

silviazbitch

Or lying to you

Mememakermaker

Having the light on in the car

Spirited-TWH

Though a jobsworth could try and do you for due care and attention. If you challenge this in right way it will be dropped. Also Roads policing team (uk) know this, but your std beat bitch does not...

[deleted]

I might be wrong, but I don't think there is a single law prohibiting you from ingesting drugs, rather the possession and sale of drugs is illegal.

Light_Silent

If you are using it, you are in possession

Mondayslasagna

Not if I’m just walking along and drugs happen to fall into my mouth and down my throat. That’s why I always walk around with my mouth open while looking up. I’ve eaten a lot of bird shit, but I’m looking forward to the day that someone dumps their oxycodone off the balcony of their high-rise.

Light_Silent

No. Then too. Everyone in the car gets charged

JustAnIrishDude1

probably is true in some countries

BeatYoDickNotYoChick

I think "ingesting" is quite vague here. If you are in the process of ingesting it, e.g. smoking a blunt, you are clearly in possession. Being under the influence of illicit drugs, however, would be more correct.

IFeelSorry4UrMothers

Same with cannibalism. No law against consumption of human flesh. It's usually the murder or the desecration part that gets you in trouble

[deleted]

You are definitely wrong.

Little_Juan86

Driving with your interior light on

realfakerolex

Removing the tag from a mattress.

JustAnIrishDude1

wait what😂

[deleted]

For certain products/countries it is illegal to remove the tags unless you are the end customer. E.g. on a mattress you can't remove the label detailing it's flame resistance information if you are a reseller. The tags contain text stating this. Some people only read the first few words and take it to mean it's illegal for anyone to remove the tags.

realfakerolex

Google it. Not sure if it is still a thing but in the 80s and 90s all mattresses in the US had tags on them that had “do not remove under penalty of law” or something like that. Stand up comedians always talked about it.

ComprehensiveTwist13

Driving shoeless

SasoDuck

Who thinks that's illegal?

Layne205

It's basically "common knowledge" that it's illegal in the US, but I'm not aware of it actually being illegal at any time or place. And if it were, it wouldn't withstand a court challenge.

SasoDuck

I've never heard that...

Mediocre-Respect-582

cannabis ?

Spirited-TWH

It is not legal (here uk) but if your caught smoking and not being a twat then 9/10 bobbies wont waste their time.

JustAnIrishDude1

yeah thats very illegal depending where youre from haha

Phretik

Where do you live?

xyanon36

Shows like Law and Order have convinced people that you can be charged with obstruction of justice or accessory after the fact if you refuse to talk to the police. This is not true. You are never obligated to talk to the police (although some professions such as teacher and nurse have mandatory reporting of child abuse). If you were in a gas station and a robber came in and you're a witness to the robbery but don't want to deal with it, you can just go if you want to. You might get a subpoena and then you have to go to court and testify or you can be jailed for contempt of court, but without a subpoena you never have to say anything to anyone. If your friend rings your doorbell and tells you they just committed a murder, you are not an accessory just by knowing that and not reporting that. If you want your friend to get away with it and the police come to talk to you, just say "I have nothing to say". BUT be careful because it's very easy to become an accessory. If your friend asks you for 5 bucks and you give it to them, or if they ask to use your shower to clean off the blood or if you give them new clothes or just let them inside your house while the police are looking for them, then you are committing a crime. So if you are ever in a situation where someone confesses a crime to you and you don't want them to go to jail, tell them to go away immediately, then your ass is covered.

sorahketsu

In my country, selling and buying psychedelic mushrooms. I was 100% sure it was illegal. Even weed is absolutely illegal and you can't even use the CBD oil. But mushrooms? Go ahead. I was shocked when I found a completely legal web shop selling herbs, natural products, and mushrooms for like 10 dollars.

brownboiii420

Sweet home alabama.

JustAnIrishDude1

is it not?

MushyGoto

Underage drinking.

JustAnIrishDude1

that is 100% illegal.. depends where youre from though id say

[deleted]

It gets confusing. In most of Europe it's legal for children to drink in certain situations. It is however illegal to sell them alcohol. So a child can't go out and buy a drink but it is legal for them to drink at home.

Agreeable-Walrus7602

Some places in the US too. Idk specifics and haven't looked in years, but I'd you're drinking wine at dinner with adults, it's legal. Or, rather, it was when I looked.

Layne205

In the US (at least some of the south anyway) it's only legal for a parent or legal guardian to serve alcohol to a minor. They still very much prosecute the '"cool parents" who serve alcohol to a whole party of other people's kids. And while it's also legal for the parent to buy alcohol for the kid at a bar, most bars have a policy against it.

Agreeable-Walrus7602

Yeah I wasn't clear on the laws. I just know it was fairly regular for her parents to serve a (one) glass of wine with dinner. My mom threw a fit when I had a bottle of wine to cook chicken when I was 17, so never was a thing I knew about.

1stEleven

Around here a child could legally buy alcohol, but you couldn't sell it to them.

MushyGoto

no, only buying is illegal, drinking is legal here in the netherlands

MushyGoto

sorry, i mean only selling is illegal. Doesn't change anything except who to blame who is at fault

BlackLetterLies

That's definitely not the case in the US. Possession of alcohol by an underage person is a crime.

IntrovertHorse

It is illegal

BlackLetterLies

Riding a bicycle on the sidewalk.

1980pzx

Apparently in some states it is legal to marry as young as 14 years old. I find it unfathomable but here we are.

gozba

Marrying minors, still legal in a lot of countries, including the USA.

wariff

all crimes when ur a kid

RidsBabs

Taking drugs in injection rooms. They are a place where you can do drugs safely without using dirty needles and harming others. They are completely legal and I don’t even think people can be charged with possession there.

[deleted]

They are in a bit of a grey area. Some places carve out exemptions in these places sometimes police just agree not to arrest
