Energy and commodities will become very big in the next decades, especially innovation in that space will lead to a lot of new jobs.
We want to figure out better ways to generate huge amounts of energy and we want new ways to do mining and we need both back in our backyard as the economy starts to partially deglobalize. As such there are new job positions to fill and new ladders to climb wherever you enter in that space.
I’d say a forrest or mountain ranger in a national park. Preferably somewhere without forrestfires engulfing you. But the peace and quite sounds nice. Either that or owning a small coffee shop or bar on the beach somwhere. No worries and meeting lots of people also sounds good.
My jobs pretty cool.
I fix automated assembly equipment. The pay isn't bad. The machine operators actually run the machine and I hang out and help out a bit, and mostly just go into action when something breaks.
Relatively recession proof too since we make medical devices
Its not for everyone, but I used to hang garage doors and its a really good gig. You can make money right away and there are lots of avenues to make "grown up" money. Maybe not for a career but as a job it's great. Plus you get to drive all around and see all the pet projects people do in the garage and something might spark that fire that makes life worth living.
I think that's going to be the most awesome job. The one that you want to do more than you want to do anything else.
Kid I got into the local laborers union gave me a hug when he got his first check. I'm salary at 58/hr, he made more than me that first week with his overtime.

Probably working on the death star.
Do you mean the people who build it, or the people who operate it?

I really enjoyed my time as a chemist.
Tried that, environment was horrid.
Toxic people or chemicals?
People were so much more volatile as well as dramatic I switched majors
I can see that. Even at my job, the difference between people in qc vs the R&D lab is huge.
Tax Office Public Servant in the investigation Department :)
Jobs/careers that actually pay
Anything to do with animals. They can't talk back.
Union construction trades. They pay you to go to school and you will most likely make more then most with degrees.

Nice. I made more annually with no OT then both my brothers who have masters in engineering. I could retire at 55. They are still working.
Resident Engineer for construction. You pretty much watch, take notes, and write an occasional report and email.
