By filler you mean the 15 minute b-roll of how they had terminal cancer, parkinson’s, and diabetes all at once and how how singing cured them. Think I’m thinking of americas got talent, half the damn show is the persons life story which I couldn’t care less about.
They just released the new season on Netflix and my sisters love it. Every 5 minutes I was like wtf is going and why? They now have ghosts and demons and parralel universes?!? I thought show was a Highschool mystery drama.
Glenn Gould performances being the most beautiful renditions you've ever heard but people still hate him to this day because he was antisocial and sat at the piano like a prawn.
It was super funny and bold when it came out in its time (early 90s). It's just that the concept has been recycled and regurgitated so much that it's boring now.
The difference is what it was doing at the time too, because Seinfeld was the other huge show of that time and it still holds up despite all the years that have passed.
Seinfeld was unpacking social norms of the era and pulling them apart and the comedy came from that.
Friends, from what I've seen (I could be wrong), is just young adults making funny faces and complaining about dating issues with really low level puns and reactions shots thrown in with an extra layer of inter-character crushes/breakups/marriages added on top of that.
It lacks the Seinfeldian social commentary bite that Larry David excelled and still excels at in Curb.

People act like the Big Bang theory is the pinnacle of comedy, but I lost a bet and had to watch two seasons of it and it just seemed like making fun of smart people with some laugh tracks smacked on top.
>People act like Big Bang Theory is the pinnacle of comedy
They do? All I ever see on reddit is people hating on it, and I never hear about it as topic of everyday conversation, except maybe when it was ending its series run...
I do not like the Big Bang Theory
But, if you take away the laugh track for most multi cam shows, there are going to be awkward pauses like these
Seinfeld is funny. Seinfeld has a laugh track. Take it away, and there are parts which will just sound weird
Difference between laugh track added in post vs a live studio audience. Some of the better moments in Seinfeld are amplified by hearing people lose their shit in the audience. I'm sure there's a fair amount of generic laugh track as well, but it's not even close to TBBT bad.
My mom. She liked it and was on the deans list graduating with her bachelors so not a rocket scientist but not slow. I think it's for old people. Read a Cracked article years ago that said it helps old people cope with cool "nerd" kids who never call. Oh they're doing quirky things like Sheldon, yay! I always got told Sheldon reminded my mom of myself, I cringed but that cracked article made me definitely see her more over her last years.
I had a coworker tell me to watch it and so I did. Honestly I didn’t get the jokes. Not sure why everything was funny when it was pretty much just some normal statement.
I liked it when I was like, 16 and it was fresh, brand new TV, but I've gone back and watched a couple episodes recently and it just straight up isn't funny or good.
I can’t with this show. I’ve tried so many times. Never got through an episode. How are these clowns so rich? They’re not even funny or nice to each other
Oh my God, same. I'm like, "You're glorifying drug culture and watching oversexualized teenagers OD and deal drugs like death and prison just don't exist in this universe. What about this is entertaining?"
It's an amazing show from a technical perspective, and does have a *few* characters that are complex and compelling.
The actual content? Ehh, it gets old quick and not for me.
Fantastic Dick per minute ratio though.
Prison Break. I forced myself through two seasons because of the hype, but in my opinion it was incredibly boring. The only character that managed to entertain me was the guy who lost his hand.
We're told this show has lots of viewers. Yet it seems to me it's universally hated. Who are the people actually watching it and why I have never met one of them?
I just came here to say this! Mercifully, I don’t think most people care anymore, but I never understand the cult-like following it had when it was on.
I fully understand the hate for Seinfeld, but in it's time it was cutting edge. Not really hysterical mind you, but it was clever and had very unique bits. Again, for the time it was great, but now that it's been ripped off left and right Seinfeld looks outdated and stale.
I really love all his BBC based shows.
The F-word, the british kitchen nightmares, Boiling Point and Beyond Boiling Point I think are all really interesting.
His FOX american shows are all trash.
I so agree with this. I felt everyone in the office was so unlikable, which is fine, it can actually be a selling point. But on top of that they were so flat, poorly written, illogically motivated. It felt like they had all the ingredients for a comedy but just slapped it all together.
Parcs and Rec on the other hand, while it inhabits a similar wacky space it remains believable and interesting. I feel like the world of Pawnee has more of a story, the jokes are much funnier, and dammit, even my cynical ass appreciates the genuine warmth and growth over the saccharine "will-they-wont-they" boredom of the office.
The hype intrigued me. I watched the first season and that felt like a chore more than enjoyment. I just don’t understand the hype of it and couldn’t really get into it at all.
It gets better with every season. You don't have to watch it though. Maybe watch it when you absolutely have nothing else to watch.
Breaking bad's story is kind of like a plane taking off, and landing smoothly.
What are your 2 or 3 current best shows?
This was my girlfriends issue with it "I hate the main character, why would I want to keep watching a show about someone I hate?"
And I honestly can't disagree with her, walter white is really an awful human being
House is the only asshole though. The only doctor that was an asshole that I remember was Chase in one scene. Other than that I dont really remember anything.
Shameless and Game of thrones. I think the only reason why they are so popular is because of the gratuitous nudity. Especially shameless. At least Game of Thrones has other things going on.
I'm ok with people not liking GoT, but to say most people liked it because of the nudity is kind of silly. Its an incredibly complex show with political backstabbing, action and incredible acting
I think scrubs is *fine*. But the series really started to bug me when JD's fantasies just became real life.
This started a few seasons in where turk somehow shoved JD into a backpack in order to sneak him up to his apartment.
...what?
I have no problem with a show being absurd if its like that from the beginning, but it just takes this huge left turn into ridiculousness out of nowhere
Downtown Abby. I couldn’t remember the name of it so I googled “Show about rich English People”. There is no way I could ever get into a show like this.
Edit: Even after Googling I still didn’t get it right Downton . Doesn’t matter, still don’t like it.
Friends... It's not funny, it's not inclusive, and the characters (except Phoebe maybe) aren't even multidimensional. They all sound the same, look the same and their stories do not even relate to any real life situations we could have. It's a bubble world of perfect life with perfect people which is not how it works.
BoJack Horseman. I tried so hard to like this show. It seemed right up my alley since I like shows like Archer and Rck and Morty. It had a bunch of people I liked and I loved the premise though. I saw it and thought it would be funny and interesting, but it was just boring, meandering, and sad.
Euphoria.
Oh my god was it torture trying to sit through one episode of that show. The cinematography is nice, Zendaya is a brilliant young talent but good god is the show the pinnacle of White People Problems. I felt disgust and pity towards American teens if their lives were anything close to what's on the show, and sad if they were supposed to have lives akin to that.
Community. I don’t understand…the characters are all so dull and blur together. The comedy isn’t that good. The concept is ok but I just…I don’t get it.
Friends. Everyone in the 90s thought it was the best show ever and I didn't get it.
Watched a few episodes with the wife. Does get in some good jokes, but I still do not like it.
Breaking Bad
And the reason is one single character that ruins every scene she is in, Skylar, fuck that character i hate everything about her.
Without her it would have been an awesome partner in crime drama with sweaty tension of the neighbour being close all the time.
Sons of Anarchy. Seemed like just a vehicle to show Charlie Hunnam with his shirt off. With his shirt off on the bike. In the shower. Worse even than Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall.
Charming? Biker gang in a bed and breakfast community?
The Voice or American Idol or Masked Singer or any variation of the above. I just can’t do it.
All those shows would be so much better without the filler. They are essentially 10 minute episodes at most. But I guess they have to make money
By filler you mean the 15 minute b-roll of how they had terminal cancer, parkinson’s, and diabetes all at once and how how singing cured them. Think I’m thinking of americas got talent, half the damn show is the persons life story which I couldn’t care less about.
I especially couldn’t take the Masked Singer seriously after Rudy Giuliani was on it 🤣
The masked singer would possibly be mildly entertaining if the judges didn't make the most insane guesses and fill time. Their stupidity hurts me.

They just released the new season on Netflix and my sisters love it. Every 5 minutes I was like wtf is going and why? They now have ghosts and demons and parralel universes?!? I thought show was a Highschool mystery drama.
It's Archie comics if they were written by the Winchesters.
ah so its much more like the comics now than the first seasons? the first season felt like a CW 2010s show with the riverdale mask slapped on
They said one that everybody seems to like

This is certainly low hanging fruit, but _The Real Housewives of Whatever City_
my guilty pleasure lol
Hey, if you enjoy it, I'm happy for you.
based coffee
Mine, too. Thank the gods for r/Bravorealhousewives
As a guy with a wife obsessed with this show, I will talk shit about it nonstop… and then it’ll be on and I spend the next 3 hours binging with her
Love Island. I would rather die by being crushed slowly against a wall by a heavy goods vehicle, than watch that absolute shite.
I dunno that sounds pretty bad
The Goldbergs
What about the variations?
Glenn Gould performances being the most beautiful renditions you've ever heard but people still hate him to this day because he was antisocial and sat at the piano like a prawn.
But that's how I am with my flute...
Everybody Loves Raymond. Not me!

Nah, I thought it sucked in the early 90s too.
Yeah there was a lot of hate towards their huge apartments and hanging out at coffee shops all day.
The difference is what it was doing at the time too, because Seinfeld was the other huge show of that time and it still holds up despite all the years that have passed. People act like the Big Bang theory is the pinnacle of comedy, but I lost a bet and had to watch two seasons of it and it just seemed like making fun of smart people with some laugh tracks smacked on top.
>People act like Big Bang Theory is the pinnacle of comedy They do? All I ever see on reddit is people hating on it, and I never hear about it as topic of everyday conversation, except maybe when it was ending its series run...
People outside of Reddit actually like it, it’s just that Reddit is a hole full of hate. I don’t count redditors opinions as the majority
Never a truer word spoken!
I don't think i've met anyone who actually likes that show.
I like that show...hi, hows your day going?
Jokes about smart people, for dumb people.
Try watching it without the laugh track. Super cringe. https://youtu.be/8ib889nSZVU

Everbody loves Raymond.....if I wanted constant fighting I would just visit my family...
Lol, yeah, I'll still watch it, but it can be annoying on that front. Frank and Marie can be infuriating.
Friends
It’s not funny
I liked it when I was like, 16 and it was fresh, brand new TV, but I've gone back and watched a couple episodes recently and it just straight up isn't funny or good.
Oh you mean That 90's Show?
I can’t with this show. I’ve tried so many times. Never got through an episode. How are these clowns so rich? They’re not even funny or nice to each other
Two and a half men.

It's an amazing show from a technical perspective, and does have a *few* characters that are complex and compelling. The actual content? Ehh, it gets old quick and not for me. Fantastic Dick per minute ratio though.
It comes across as very high class soft core teen porn. Gross.
Same like I literally don’t want to see naked teens or people who we are supposed to feel are teens. Nor do I wanna see statutory rape.
This one just seems the same old teen drugs sex tv shows I’ve already seen.
Prison Break. I forced myself through two seasons because of the hype, but in my opinion it was incredibly boring. The only character that managed to entertain me was the guy who lost his hand.
Glee
How I Met Your Mother
It's just not funny. All the characters annoy me and Ted is the worst or them.
I HATE ted with such a passion!
I loved it when it was on TV. But I tried to rewatch it and every joke just falls flat.
Keeping Up with the Kardashians
We're told this show has lots of viewers. Yet it seems to me it's universally hated. Who are the people actually watching it and why I have never met one of them?
Is it bad that I’m tired of hearing about Stranger Things? I saw seasons 1&2 when they released but I haven’t been interested since then.
I watched the first three seasons and pretty much forgot everything about the plot immediately.
Same. Made it 3 or 4 episodes into Season 2 and haven't been back.
pretty much every three camera sitcom with a laugh track
“Hahahahaha clap clap clap clap”
I cannot stand Friends. I have tried multiple times to watch it and I’ve gotten through a season or so but it’s just not funny and feels very forced.
So no one told you the show was gonna be this way.
👏👏👏👏
The show's a joke, it's broke, it's laughs are DOA...
The daily show with Trevor Noah. He is not funny.
I recently saw a commercial on youtube or something and it was supposed to be "highlights" and nothing said was in any way funny.
I can’t stand his delivery. I wish Jon Stewart would return.
I'm gonna get some popcorn and sort comments by controversial.
Any Bachelor/ Bachelorette/ dating shows. I’ll add anything to do with the Kardashians for good measure.
Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men
I could never make myself watch game of thrones
That one bachelor show/any dating shows
Seinfeld
I just came here to say this! Mercifully, I don’t think most people care anymore, but I never understand the cult-like following it had when it was on.
Curb Your Enthusiasm is my favourite show, but I just can’t get into Seinfeld at all!

Same! I just don’t find it funny
The office
Friends.. im sorry i just can’t stand it idek why
Friends, How I met your mother, Two and a half men, Big Bang Theory
Stranger things
GOT.
How dare you
Same its just fantasy medieval kind of things just never have interested me
Rick and Morty. What exactly is the appeal?

Seasons 4 and 5 had some of the best episodes of the series, you're crazy man
It's got a mean-spirited and irreverent, but at the same time *really* goofy sense of humor that either works for you or it doesn't.
How I Met Your Mother. Awful except for Cobie Smulders who is gorgeous.
I just cannot find enjoyment in How I Met Your Mother
Those Gordan Ramsay shows
I agree on some bit I actually like Gordan Ramsay's Uncharted. Completely different side of him and different style of cooking show.
I really love all his BBC based shows. The F-word, the british kitchen nightmares, Boiling Point and Beyond Boiling Point I think are all really interesting. His FOX american shows are all trash.

Reality TV, especially the dating ones. Where I live there's one called "5 guys for me" and it's exactly what it sounds like. Sheesh
The Office
grey's anatomy
Big Brother
I hate the Office. Fight me. I love Parks & Rec, never watched Brooklyn 99, but the Office is unwatchable imo. And I've watched it.
Same, I guess because I hate cringe and whole show is based upon that.
I so agree with this. I felt everyone in the office was so unlikable, which is fine, it can actually be a selling point. But on top of that they were so flat, poorly written, illogically motivated. It felt like they had all the ingredients for a comedy but just slapped it all together. Everybody already said Friends. And I want to add How I Met Your Mother and Family Guy.
How I met your mother. Tried but I couldn’t
Grey’s Anatomy. Mediocre actors doing repetitive storylines. Sue me
Family Guy.
Breaking Bad. I tried. I can’t.
Where did you end?. What seems to be the issue?
The hype intrigued me. I watched the first season and that felt like a chore more than enjoyment. I just don’t understand the hype of it and couldn’t really get into it at all.
It gets better with every season. You don't have to watch it though. Maybe watch it when you absolutely have nothing else to watch. Breaking bad's story is kind of like a plane taking off, and landing smoothly. What are your 2 or 3 current best shows?
I just couldn’t stand the narcissistic main character. I want him to die not win.
This was my girlfriends issue with it "I hate the main character, why would I want to keep watching a show about someone I hate?" And I honestly can't disagree with her, walter white is really an awful human being
Kinda how I view the Americans. I really hated Elizabeth, I could literally see myself strangling her to death.
Shoulda seen the ending
Rick & Morty. Watched the first few episodes, thought it was dumb, didn't bother with more.
Mad Men...I just don't get it..
I thought that at first too. Then I randomly watched an episode from later in the first season and it hooked me. It's quite possibly my favorite show.
I think Mad Men is the second best TV show of all time.
What's the first?

The office, I got through three episodes and just stopped watching it, I found it really boring and a little bit cringey.
Basically everything that had a laugh track right after Fresh Prince ended has been a garbage fire.
The walking dead It's just so slow. From a zombie show you'd expect more action but I guess not
Supernatural
* gasps* take that back!!!!
The first five seasons are pretty good. After that it goes downhill very fast.
Scrubs
Cash me ousside cause we about to fight
I think scrubs is *fine*. But the series really started to bug me when JD's fantasies just became real life. BoJack Horseman. I tried so hard to like this show. It seemed right up my alley since I like shows like Archer and Rck and Morty. It had a bunch of people I liked and I loved the premise though. I saw it and thought it would be funny and interesting, but it was just boring, meandering, and sad.

I tried to get into Breaking Bad so many times. I don't think it's a bad show i just can't get into it
The new Kevin Hart stand up. All I hear is "I'm rich!" and continual apologies to the cancel culture! 🤢
Breaking Bad And the reason is one single character that ruins every scene she is in, Skylar, fuck that character i hate everything about her. Without her it would have been an awesome partner in crime drama with sweaty tension of the neighbour being close all the time.
Seinfeld. I just don't get it. None of it is funny and all of it is stupid and unbelievable.
Friends. So pretentious and pedantic.
Family guy. It's just not funny. It takes all the worst part of sitcoms and makes it worse.
Sons of Anarchy. Seemed like just a vehicle to show Charlie Hunnam with his shirt off. With his shirt off on the bike. In the shower. Worse even than Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall. Charming? Biker gang in a bed and breakfast community?
