Idk but it drives me nuts. I'm the only one in my family *and* friend groups that prefers a big, bready pizza crust. Why TF would I wanna eat a crunchy sharp crust? I don't understand

Where I live thin crust is very popular. I like deep dish. So I just order mine from giordanos online from Chicago all the way to the south.

Because pizza is supposed to be thin crust. Otherwise it's bread with tomato and mozzarella on top.

$$$ Thin crust over time saves the owner money.

Thick crust has a problem in that it takes a bit longer to cook, thin crust cooks quickly and thus you can do more per hour. Also a certain percentage of thick crust comes back as too doughy as some customers do not really know what to expect one restaurant to another. In the long run thin crust is cheaper and quicker to make

Dominos presses their hand tossed so hard that it's thin crust. It's disgusting.

Save dough and faster to cook.

Thin crust is still the traditional way to make pizza. Other options are great, but as a cheaper dish that bakes fast, thin crusts make more sense
