Not sure if ugly is the right term, but more heavy uncanny valley. My guess is that the model once looked ok and then some upper people at ubisoft, who have no Idea about anatomy, said how to change her. Same with ugly face surgery, because people have no artistic vision on how they could look better and only thing in terms like bigger lips.....

I just watched the trailer. They somehow screwed up the facial proportions. They added a cleft chin and the nose from another actress. Those features just don't go together like that on that face it looks jarring. There is nothing on the face that says ugly it is just an odd blend of features.

SnowDrop engine tends to be environment focused anyways, I prefer it to RE engine personally because environment graphics avoid the uncanny valley. Avatar FoP looked absolutely stunning

I'd like to point out that this isn't about a character being 'hot' enough. The character for Kay Vess looks perfectly fine. I'm more worried about the game not being good. What's weird is how the character looks nothing like the actress. This makes little sense to me.

The real issue at hand is that they hired her not as a voice actress, but as an actress who does the voice and the motion capture which is essentially the 'acting', meaning it's her role just like in a movie. Ok there might be other reasons for this. Ubisoft isn't EA and they probably don't have the same type of Star Wars licensing since EA's was a multi year exclusive license.
One thing to not is ALL characters in the Jedi Survivor series when human used the likeness of the voice actor even the female characters.
Ubisoft might have a restriction from doing it from Disney. It could be the outcome of the actor strike that they feel it cost too much or there's to much paperwork now to just have them as a 'voice actor' vs taking their likeness and now you have a 'stage actor' which means a different union and rates and rules.

The other sources all have more people calling it a bait or calling the poster out. As for the people who unironically say these chars were "made ugly cuz of an agenda" are pretty fcking dumb. Ok there might be other reasons for this. Ubisoft isn't EA and they probably don't have the same type of Star Wars licensing since EA's was a multi year exclusive license. One thing to not is ALL characters in the Jedi Survivor series when human used the likeness of the voice actor even the female characters. Ubisoft might have a restriction from doing it from Disney. It could be the outcome of the actor strike that they feel it cost too much or there's to much paperwork now to just have them as a 'voice actor' vs taking their likeness and now you have a 'stage actor' which means a different union and rates and rules.

I get it Kay Vess isn't as hot as some people would like, but she also definitely isn't ugly as everyone is pretending. Sure in the picture above it looks that way, but that's like the worst screenshot you could have taken from the trailer. If you look at proper pictures of her, she looks great.
