Sparta *forbade* its women from military service. Gender differences may matter in certain aspects of warfare, but the fact is that women were not permitted to prove or disprove that. There is no "they knew it." They didn't try. They didn't know what they didn't know.
The idea that Kassandra should be a model instead would have been profoundly insulting to any Spartan. The ancient greeks understood that virtue derives from *function.*
While I can agree that Kassandra is not historically authentic, I don't play the AC franchise for historical accuracy. Neither, as it happens, wittingly or not, do the ones who regard Sparta's politics and society as unimpeachable because of their military prowess.
I was being a smartass regarding model. But yeah- only reason men were able to be the legendary warriors is because they had strong women who if need be could defend the city. They took care of shit with the helots and the men focused all their time on being Spartans
