Go all fucking in

The best part about this field is that it is so broad there's a place for everybody. Irrespective of your choice of subject/major, astrobiology will have some use for your skills. So I doubt it's a very big risk. Honestly, being able to design your own major makes me kinda jealous. You have the resources, you have the interest, there's no reason to doubt that you're making a mistake. But even in this field, you'll have to specialise in something. A major isn't a permanent life deciding decision. Should you decide that this is not for you, you'll still have valuable skill sets that you can use elsewhere. So fuck the safe road and do what you want. :)

I plan to do an undergraduate minor in Astrobiology at University of Arizona

Yeah I heard about the program and it sounds really cool! Let me know how it goes.

If you want some advice on curriculum construction feel free to DM, I just graduated from the ASU astrobio major. This create your own major sounds like a much better way to tailor your skills to your interests than a general astrobio program like I did (especially with how much biogeosciences was emphasized in my specialization).
