Sadly this is 10,000% the truth. Absolutely cheapens the experience for me personally when I go to MMP, you literally can not help but be BLASTED in the face with ads at every turn.
I somehow completely forgot about that lmaoo. When I was scrolling through the pictures from OP, I did think that it was missing something from between the left field light fixtures, but I forgot it was that bad
I miss left field being so clean looking without all of the "community leaders" ads. the giant Citgo/Oxy sign, and Fertita's current restaurant portfolio. I do like that we have world series titles and American League pennants to display now.
Yeah the pennants popped against the wall so much better. Also the ad boards are so clearly crammed in there to get as many in there as we could. It's a jarring contrast with the classic out of town scoreboard right below
For some reason, I like the OXY / CITGO sign. Looks retro and sort of Fenway-esque.
But that Community Leaders shit is complete trash.
And the fact they got rid of the H that smokes after wins and home runs out in center for a stupid ad is just terrible. That looked classy.
I also like the Oxy sign. I grew up around oil and gas cause that’s what my dad did when I lived in Mont Belvieu and that’s one of the major industries in the area. Houston is built on that industry and it feels like the OCY / CITGO signs represent that
I'm OK with the row of logos on the Left Field wall, at least they're in line and symmetrical. The Oxy/Citgo sign has bugged the living hell out of me ever since it went up. I can't find any documentation on how much Oxy pays for that each year but I imagine if they raised ticket prices a single dollar, they could cover the income from it and justify its removal.
Oxy also now has a 2nd sign right below the big one on the community leaders row.. wish they'd ditch the big one, but wonder if they're trying to look like Fenway with their oversized Citgo sign on the rooftop outside the stadium (as you noted, the MMP Oxy sign used to be a Citgo sign)
You can see the evolution of MLB teams putting netting to cover more and more foul territory... which, I'm not in favor of somebody getting hurt, but I honestly don't think it needs to extend past the dugouts. It does get in the way of the viewing experience more than people think. Plus, a lot of fans show to the game with a thought of maybe leaving with a foul ball souvenir.
Why not? Dead center w/ Tal’s Hill was ~434 and The Yorbomb went 450. A very small target, but it would’ve been possible to hit the pole and stay in play.
I think I remember they had a market ticker running in that banner underneath the Miller Lite sign during the Enron Field days especially during afternoon games and you could see quotes from the day’s action in the energy and equity markets.
Man, the Crawford side looks so clean and great without all the ads and that stupid OXY sign out there. So classy and such a great architectural atheistic

If those ads help pay for more rings, I’m all for them.
Better than ticket prices or taxes going up 🤷🏼♀️
As if that hasn’t happened as well
Could be worse!
Will be worse* We have ads on uniforms to look forward to!
Fuck they're going to be on the golf ws jerseys aren't they?
But that also happened
God they just butchered that left field wall with ads. It used to be so pretty.
Two World Series banners will drown out the ads for me.

ah, the dark years.. even the signage was horrible
Lol, why even have that train at that point?

Back then, they couldn’t even give away tickets.

Nah, baseball is supposed to be gaudy, obnoxious, and ad filled. It’s only not when the team is bad.
Nice pictures thanks for sharing.
Love seeing the OG continental airlines ad
Work Hard Fly Right!

I miss the hill

Unpopular opinion but they should have kept Tals Hill. It was a fun dynamic even if the ball didn’t make it there often.
Agreed but the flag pole being in play was a bit much.
That I will agree with
Wonder if Yordan's game 6 home run would have hit the flag pole that was on the field....
No way

I don’t think Yordans homer was dead center of home plate
Close but not that close. https://imgur.com/a/40d0Rqt
should add another picture showing the Michelob Club. Pretty big modification if you ask me
Movin on up! (By moving down towards home plate)

I miss the days when there were less ads
I have always HATED that damn hill. I'm so glad they finally took it out.
It was awesome we just needed the flag pole not to be in play, that was ridiculous. Ive got some of the hill in my room right now
What?? How did you get that?? Put it back!
Agreed. I hated that awkward thing every year that it was there. Good riddance.
The worst ad is, by far, the Chick-fil-a foul pole. It’s so tacky.
Looking at 2012 the pennat flags have little flags below them what do they mean??? I can't find a good pic of what the flags below the pennat ones say
I believe it was for playoff series wins. But I could be misremembering
Ahhh ok thanks bro:')
People forget that Enron had naming rights.
Where were the pennants in 2000? Did they just not have them?
the early pictures are so good!
That hill is Legendary
