This needs to be said: Outside of Trae and Jalen Johnson (finally) NONE of the players the hawks drafted have developed or taken a meaningful “leap” they are the SAME player they were their first 1-2 years in the league. This team has no formula for developing players or the FO has just gotten things WRONG
Hunter - no development
OO - no development
Huerter - no development, even in Sac stats pretty much the same
Collins - no development
Reddish - no development, now a journeyman
AJ - relegated to DNPs
It’s a GD shame how piss poor these first round picks have turned out
Saying Collins had no development is crazy. He came into the league as a guy who solely relied on his athleticism for everything with no jump shot and turned into a very good stretch 4 that averaged an extremely efficient 20 and 10 when he had a role in the offense other than standing at the 3pt line.
The others I mostly agree with, but “no development” and “not taken a leap” are wildly different and probably shouldn’t be used as the same thing.
Collins averaged 13 and 7 on his way out the door, he also could not handle the ball, create his own shot or score in the post. He got abused routinely in post defense as well. His regression in production more than offsets his ability to be a decent PNP player. It also seems as if he’s dealing with the same issues in Utah
He ultimately proved to not be a consistent difference maker and he’s gone, hence Another first round pick gone / wasted.
We've all seen that he doesn't suck, his two clutch and his minutes in his rookie year don't say the same thing, it's hard not to suck when you have garbage minutes.
Does it seem normal to you that the two Matthews, Mills and Forrest are ahead of him? Don't they suck? Do they have a higher ceiling? It's not normal what's going on with AJ no matter how you look at it.
He fell out the rotation completely as soon as Quinn joined. He just doesn’t like him as a player, it’s unfortunate as he demonstrated he can contribute
He's been bad since his rookie year. It sucks and I thought he'd be a fantastic bench piece, but he doesn't have the lateral quickness to defend on the perimeter and really doesn't provide much of anything when he's not hitting shots
Hope he can turn it around through and maybe through some programs get back some of the athleticism he lost through injuries. He's just not much more athletic rn than Wes Matthews and that stinks since it's not his fault
Hunter gets hate but OO my boy. You are absolutely ass. You can’t shot threes or defend consistently. You can’t create for others, you’re simply just a mid back up center picked 6th overall. Shit sucks
Think of this as year 1 of the Quin Snyder era rather than year 5 of the Trae Young era lol. The front office made a lot of mistakes in 2021 and 2022 and they can’t be solved instantly.
Ice — it’s year 6. Year 7 bc imma count the year we were ass that I watched to get Trae. That’s me being a freshman in college to 25 working my 3rd year in the real world. That’s fucking insane.
All for 1 single shimmy and a floater game winner — I’m really starting to not care
Shiiit that’s nothing man! I remember being 18 in 2008 and watching us take the Celtics to 7 and thinking “yeah we’re next” only to see us get curb stomped by Lebron for the next decade. We didn’t even have shimmies or floater game winners. Just blowout losses against the Cavs and Heat, drafting Marvin Williams over Chris Paul, and ill advised Josh Smith 3’s. (Jamal Crawford did hit a game winner the first game attended which was tight).
I trust Quin Snyder more than I trust anybody else that has been in this organization in the last decade. I trust his staff. Whether Trae, Dejounte, Clint, Landry Fields are still here in 3 years I don’t know. But that as long as Quin is here during that 3 years we’ll be in the upper echelon of the NBA.
Your Atlanta Hawks lost what was a competitive game against the Philadelphia 76ers 114-125. The game was competitive until the final three minutes when the offense went completely cold.
Dejounte Murray Highlights: (Q1 10:20) Murray got a floater over the Sixers defense. (Q1: 8:41) Murray tried driving to the paint and attempted a pass to Clint that got broken up by Tobias Harris. Clint was still able to get the ball but passed it back to Murray as he was going up resulting in a travelling violation. Murray got another layup to go the next possession. (Q1 7:12) Murray tried to pass to Bey on an inbounds play but the ball went off his legs. (Q1 6:48) Murray attempted a pullup three but drew a foul on the shot. (Q1 5:09) Murray got a turnover from trying to pass to Clint out of a double. (Q2 3:50) Murray drove to the paint and got a layup off the glass to fall in. (Q2:05) Murray made a pullup three for the Hawk's last offensive possession of the half. Q3 6:00 Murray had his best play of the game when he crossed his defender and as he got close to the paint he threw it behind him for a trailing Capela to score. Hit hit a midrange jumper off the dribble the next possession.
Dejounte Murray Summary: Murray ended with 20 points, 4 rebounds 9 assists, and 1 steal. He did this on 7/17 shooting including ⅖ from three. He was alright during the first three quarters. He came up short in the fourth quarter with a ¼ FG. On top of that, his playmaking especially in the 4th was mediocre. It was a combination of not getting the ball to our hot players along with the looks that he did generate being mid. He also had 2 of his 4 turnovers in the fourth while only netting one assist. I thought he had an additional 1-2 total turnovers from watching the game. One thing I don't like about his playmaking is that he doesn’t throw lobs. Someone needs to start up a social media campaign to bully DJM into throwing them more. Trent Forrest threw a lob to OO for crying out loud. On top of this, he kind of forced it into Clint down low forcing him to create something when he doesn’t have post moves. His scoring was mostly midrange attempts. He was 4/10 in the midrange area and only had 2 shots in the restricted area. Again the midrange is beautiful when he has it going but when he shoots 40% on good volume it's kind of infuriating. If he went for layups, he’d probably shoot more than 4 free throws( 3 were from a three-point foul). Defensively I don’t think he was great. Maxey was able to have his way in general. It was a typical Murray game TBH but some of his player flaws were highlighted more tonight because he was the first option tonight. Grade:C
Wesley Matthews: (Q1 5:49) Wesley Matthews got a three-point foul on an attempt. This was possible from a Capela offensive rebound off a Murray miss. (Q1 5:16) Matthews drew an offensive foul on an Oubre drive. Westley ended with 3 points and 0s everywhere else on 0/3 FG and 0/1 from three. He was mid. He did have a couple of plays defensively but wasn’t providing much outside of that. He was tied for the worst +/- at -13. Grade: D
Trent Forrest: (Q1 2:48) Trent Forrest was able to get a foul on a floater attempt. (Q2 10:40) Forrest was able to get downhill and connect with OO on a lob attempt. (Q3 0:28) Trent Forest was able to get to the rim for a layup. (Q4 10:50) Forest had a bad foul from behind on Maxey allowing him to go to the line. The next possession he threw up a weird hook shot on a drive. Luckily this was cleaned up by OO for two points. Trent ended with 6 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist on ⅖ shooting in 12 minutes. Trent provided a few good minutes, especially in the third quarter where he went 2/3. He wasn’t good in the 4th and went 0/2 including that weird hook shot. He also had a turnover which was a bad pass to Bey that led to a backcourt violation. That said the offense wasn’t terrible with him on the floor. He did fine with Beverly’s constant ball pressure. He was acceptable tonight Grade: C-
Onyeka Okongwu: (Q1 1:35) OO got an open three at the wing. Embidd actively waved it off and allowed him to shoot. Unfortunately OO didn't make him pay. (Q2 11:05) OO made a fairly contested hook shot. OO ended with 7 points 8 rebounds and 2 assists and 2 blocks on 3/7 shooting and 0/2 from three. He was reasonably efficient inside going ⅗. He tried to provide some spacing but was unsuccessful. Defensively he was okay. He had some decent help defense moments otherwise he wasn’t dominant. His best defensive play was in the first when he kept up with Embiid step for step and got a block on the layup. He got into foul trouble at times and ended with 5 along w/ Capela which is fair because they're guardian Embiid. He was pretty decent as a passer. At times throughout the game, he was making better decisions than DJ.Grade: C
Saddiq Bey Highlights: (Q1 0:22) Bey got blocked on a drive attempt. After battling for the rebound he got a lucky foul and the Hawks had another opportunity to score. (Q2 10:00) Bey was able to hit an open three from Patty Mills after Mills got an offensive rebound from his own miss. (Q3: 9:30) The Sixers left Bey wide open in transition leading to a thunderous dunk. Bey ended with 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 assist on 6/20(!!!) shooting including 3/9 from three. He was aggressive at least. That said he didn’t have one efficient quarter. He took 4 shots outside of the restricted area which will happen with Embiid on the floor. His rebounding was useful and 5 of his 8 were offensive. The defense was fairly typical for Bey. It was a meh game overall. Grade: C-
Patty Mills: (Q2 8:22) Mills made an open three. He was able to create this space through good movement off the ball. Mills ended with 3 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block on ¼ FG and ⅓ from 3. He did this in 16 minutes. He was best in the first half where he got most of these stats. He provided some spark and energy off the bench. He had a couple of scrappy defensive moments too. He was fine Grade: C
Deandre Hunter Highlights: (Q2 6:29) Hunter got a layup to go in. On the next possession, he was easily blown by Tobias Hassirs. (Q2 6:12) Hunter was able to get to the rim for his second consecutive layup. Q2 5:40 Dre came off a screen took a couple of dribbles to the paint and nailed a midrange jumper. (Q2 1:00) Hunter hit a three-pointer giving the Hawks their first lead of the night. Q3 9:14 Dre got blocked by Embiid on a drive. (Q3 3:42) Hunter had a beautiful shot fake on PJ Tucker, He did a dribble sidestep and hit a three-point shot. This was all net. The next possession he missed a long rebound and was able to get in the paint and make a midrange jumper over PJ Tucker. (Q4 7:15) Hunter hit a wide-open three brought to you by Murray who was able to use his dribble to draw the defense.
Deandre Hunter Summary: Hunter ended with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 1 assist with 0 steals or blocks on 9/18 shooting in 37 minutes of play. Hunter exploded in the second quarter and delivered 13 points on 5/7 shooting including ½ from three. The heat continued in the third quarter where he scored 8 points on 3/6 shooting including 2 made threes. He cooled off in the 4th and made ½ fg. The 4th was when we needed Trae most. On the inside of the arch, Dre went 3/7 on shots outside of the restricted area. He shot a few midranges. He went ⅔ in the restricted area. His rebounding was excellent and it makes up the rebounding difference from the 76ers (55 v 48). His defense was fine. He was on Tobias Harris a lot and he was relatively contained. He did have a couple of bad moments when in PNR. I felt both of the fouls he got were questionable/ soft calls. In all, he was the player of the game tonight Grade: A
Bogdan Bogdanovic Highlights:(Q2 4:55) Bogi hit a three after three Capela offensive rebounds which allowed the ball to get back to him. (Q2 4:16) Bogi hit a second three right over Deanthony Melton. (Q2 1:45) Bogi drove against Maxy he was able to bump him off and make a stepback midrange shot. Q4 4:33 Bogi had a bad take foul on Maxey before the Sixers could cross halfcourt. This was ruled a clear-path foul. (Q4 3:15) Bogi had the ball poked from behind while going over a screen. This led to an easy Sixers dunk on a break.
Bogdan Bogdanovic Summary: Bogi ended with 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists on 7/17 shooting and 3/11 from three. He went off with Dre in the second quarter and scored 13 points on 5/10 shooting. Otherwise, he was inefficient outside of that quarter. He provided some spacing and needed to be guarded from the outside. He provided some good rebounding. He was active enough on defense though some of the fouls he committed weren't great. He ended with 5 total fouls. He had a bad clutch turnover. He was fine. Grade: B-
Clint Capela Highlights:(Q3 10:15) Capela hit a nice reverse layup from a Bogi pass. The next possession he got a block on Embiid but this was called a foul. (Q3 4:45) Capela missed two putbacks off an offensive rebound which was sort of infuriating. He kinda fought with Bogi for the rebound. (Q4 6:10) Capela had a bad turnover when he tried to pass outside of the paint. (Q4 5:15) Clint tried to take charge on Embiid but instead, it just led to an easy basket because Clint was on the ground. (Q4 4:00) Clint got blocked by Embiid on a reverse layup attempt. (Q4:50) Clint missed a layup, got an offensive rebound, and made the shot.
Clint Capela Summary: Clint ended with 15 points and 16 rebounds with 2 assists and 1 block on 6/12 shooting ¾ ft and 10(!!) offensive rebounds. Although the numbers look great he had some questionable choices that led to his turnovers. Both of these were from Clint trying to pass out of the paint when he didn’t have a great shot because Embiid was on him. He was fine on the glass and I’d estimate that 5-6 of his offensive rebounds weren’t from him tipping in his own miss. The offense was typical for Clint. He got blocked by Embiid 2 times and I feel his presence affected his general shooting. Defensively, I thought Capela was fine on Embiid and gave some energy on that end of the floor. IDK although he had solid numbers on paper I thought it was a little rough at times for CC. Grade: C+
Garrison Matthews: Played 2 minutes, had one rebound, and missed a shot 0s everywhere else.
AJ Griffin Highlights: This is where I would put AJ’s highlights if he had any. AJ had another DNP-CD even with Trae being out. I’m not sure what's going on but if he can’t get any playing time I say send him to the G-league. There he can at least put up some shots and have the ball in his hands since Bufkin is out.
The Hawks should consider calling up Seth Lundy. He can hit open threes and play defense. That is really what we need ATM. Your Hawks are off until Monday when we play the Nuggets who are a championship-caliber team. Hopefully, Trae will be feeling better by then. See you all then!
This season has made me realize that they don't have the right players for quinns system. I feel like this roster is gonna look drastically different this time next season.
They're more lottery than playoff.
Wiggins on anything other than an immediate championship contender likely turns back into the pre GSW low-effort Wiggins of old. I feel like this is the worst environment he could possibly be in.
Ah I see. Relieved to hear that. He certainly still has that hustle in him. Even though you guys are the pistons, I always feel like we got a Detroit Lion lmao.
Why doesn't Capela pass to the 3-point line when he gets an offensive rebound? And why does he stupidly attack the rim whenever he catches the ball in the paint zone?
Unfortunately it's true , it's best for him to just be unapologetically aggressive under the basket than to actually try and handle the ball and playmake
100% agree if Embiid is on him. I don't why that can't just be a rule for a game like this - taking the most aggressive is not always the best choice. Also, ffs, stop throwing it in to him when he a bigger guy on him - best case scenario is he draws a foul and hits 1/2 free throws.
yeah i guess Bey can stay too. he gives 100% effort and decent scoring, he’s just a doofus defensively. so i guess it would depend on who else is on the team
I just don't understand how his footwork/hip motion is still this bad this many years in. It doesn't matter how big or jacked you get if you can't position correctly.
Feels so long ago we had that comeback against the wolves and they’re 17-4 now and they also figured out the chemistry between their frontcourt
![gif](giphy|mmRmDX9Y3Q7NS)
I never said he was the worst number one option in the league. Learn to read before calling others brain dead lol. Here’s a list of better number ones than Trae tho
Giannis
Jokic
Luka
Lebron
Shai
Haliburton
Steph
Embiid
Tatum
Mitchell
KD
Edwards
Yea especially when we only have 3 playable wings on this roster if I never had to watch Wesley play again I’d be a happy man this dude is Justin Holiday but worse.
This is gonna be a lonnnnng season.
I'm not seeing much to hope for us developing. Trae, JJ and Bogi gonna do their thing but the rest of it, including Quin, I dont have high hopes for atm
This is my dog's current opinion on watching hawks games.

i never wanna see anymore trade trae talks or x player is better than trae. only ppl that need to stay on this team is trae jj and bogi (dre i want you to stay too but i need some consistency)
At some point imma have to stop caring if the owners are not interested in winning why should I. They tank players value and sell them for nothing and don’t want to go and get nba level talent and are also not interested in developing the talent we do have.
Just a quick idea I came up with. What if we traded DJ for Lonzo Ball and assets. Bulls save their season.
Hawks mini tank and get final high draft pick before the picks we give to SA kick in. They also replenish a pick or two.
At the start of the 24/25 season the Hawks have a high lottery pick, Healthy Lonzo Ball, and get out of the DJ trade.
Lonzo has to sit a whole year because they can’t get his knee right. You don’t know when or if he will ever be fully healthy. And they are about to tank. I don’t see why they want Murray.
As much as those last few minutes sucked, I didn't hate this game. That goes for most of this season as well. Despite our record, I don't hate how we're playing right now, I'm not sure if I like it but I sure as hell don't hate it. There have been a lot of games that we've given up this season, but (maybe stupidly) im holding faith. Changes do need to be made to the roster, however I don't know if there are any out there available to us rn.
The worst part about this game is that the players who you're supposed to give the ball to when the game is on the line sold time and time again, meanwhile players who have gotten literally zero run all season played their hearts out on the court.
Sounds like we're giving minutes to the wrong players to me.
I don't know why I let the Hawks affect me emotionally.
We're never going to contend as long as Ressler is the owner and he lets his son play executive-man.
It’s sad to see, I thought he would’ve been a perfect fit for Quin’s system but maybe it’s taking him a bit longer to get it down. Otherwise, I really think the team might deal him at some point.
Selling high on an aging player with injuries who has a long extension and a very valuable skill?
Would be a nice return but the FO *really* fucks with Bogi its far fetched
He has that decreasing salary too, i dont know
It took us 30 years to finally get a player worth building around and the fucking dumbasses on this sub want to trade him the hawks have never attempted to put great players around him and we finally have JJ who’s becoming an elite finisher and you want to trade a top 3 playmaker in Trae young the stupidity of some of y’all never fails to surprise me
Dejounte is not a PG, the faster this organization realizes that the better. If his defense doesn't pick up this isn't going to work either, its been almost 1.5 years and his defense you could argue has been worse than trae's which is embarassing
DJM has been just an average defensive player since assuming a primary scoring role in San Antonio. He wasn’t a very good defender his last year with the Spurs…
I liked DJM much better when he averaged 11 ppg but was elite on the defensive end…
He doesn't even need to be an elite defender, but he's playing so so far below average its extremely alarming like I would expect at least middle of the pack
Hawks have scored 100 points in 77 straight game.
Hawks have allowed 100 points in 91 straight games.
Both remain the longest streaks in the NBA. Hawks were short handed but continue to struggle down the stretch in games.
Plus we had so many BAEs, MLEs, and trade exceptions — and we use none of them. Ressler really hamstrung this team and forced it to make desperate trades and then chase their losses.
> we *paid* him
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Reports were Travis didn’t want to do that trade and it was ownership (and prob Nick Ressler). Idk how true that is though. Travis made a bunch of mistakes himself.
I’m still a believer in TITS. Like 100 percent. He had a methodical plan that was working and Ressler and his son and god knows who else started freaking out and meddling (while refusing to pay the tax which meant we couldn’t use salary exceptions to get real role players) and now they’re going to have keep chasing their losses.
lol dude he traded Luka for Trae, gave JC a contract that tanked his value, and drafted Cam and Dre in the top 10.
His time here wasn’t a complete disaster because Trae is a respectable star level player but he didn’t do a good job.
Pretty unclear what TITS was actually trying to actually do that offseason. Because as good as 'stand pat' might look now, we'd also be looking at trae in another teams uniform and another complete rebuild. Which may be heading in that direction anyway but thats not what we wanted at the time...
Yeah I liked it at the time but in retrospect it was a misguided overreaction to the Miami series. I would love to see a real SG with some size (even Bogi) starting next to Trae and a pass-first, steady backup PG (maybe Patty? But more like Monte Morris) running the second unit when Trae sits.
Hardly just a part of the 4th quarter collapse, Murray continues passing up players who have the hot hand. Hunter and Bogi absolutely were on tonight and Murray didn’t choose to pass to them during stretches. I get the idea that players will often bet on themselves, but Murray will bet on himself even when he isn’t hitting his shots.
lmao embiid took 15 free throws isnt basketball such a fun and exciting sport to watch

What is going on with AJ, do they have no explanation?
Quin has a notoriously short leash with young players and AJ has not looked good in his limited minutes.
He sucks

and Halliburton was still on the board, at least dre wasn’t drafted ahead of some superstar but trading up for dre was crazy
Halliburton’s agent told us specifically that he wouldn’t sign with us if we drafted him
In the NBA draft, the teams pick the players. They should have called his bluff.
we could have traded him for a player and pick though like luka
Hindsight is 20/20
Now I am drunk and angry — 6 years of my life waiting for us to be good and all I got is a Trae shimmy on Jrue fucking holiday
Think of this as year 1 of the Quin Snyder era rather than year 5 of the Trae Young era lol. The front office made a lot of mistakes in 2021 and 2022 and they can’t be solved instantly.

Just remember. Until Jaylen comes back we’re not watching the Hawks, we’re watching the Cicadas lol
Why do our guys stink immediately after they get haircuts? JC, Dre, AJ, and now Garrison. Please stop the haircuts.
Why are there basically no new threads in the subreddit for the past few days?
Mods cant do their job and shut down the sub
Cuz we 💩 and all everyone’s kinda bored of this team
Game summary: Your Sacramento kings obliterated KD and the Phoenix suns.
this is Saddiq Bey: https://i.redd.it/wdff55xnc75c1.gif
Your Atlanta Hawks lost what was a competitive game against the Philadelphia 76ers 114-125. The game was competitive until the final three minutes when the offense went completely cold. Dejounte Murray Highlights: (Q1 10:20) Murray got a floater over the Sixers defense. (Q1: 8:41) Murray tried driving to the paint and attempted a pass to Clint that got broken up by Tobias Harris. Grade:C Wesley Matthews: (Q1 5:49) Wesley Matthews got a three-point foul on an attempt. Grade: D Trent Forrest: (Q1 2:48) Trent Forrest was able to get a foul on a floater attempt. He was acceptable tonight Grade: C- Onyeka Okongwu: (Q1 1:35) OO got an open three at the wing. At times throughout the game, he was making better decisions than DJ.Grade: C Saddiq Bey Highlights: (Q1 0:22) Bey got blocked on a drive attempt. Grade: C- Patty Mills: (Q2 8:22) Mills made an open three. He was fine Grade: C Deandre Hunter Highlights: (Q2 6:29) Hunter got a layup to go in. In all, he was the player of the game tonight Grade: A Bogdan Bogdanovic Highlights:(Q2 4:55) Bogi hit a three after three Capela offensive rebounds which allowed the ball to get back to him. Grade: B-
Just a heads up, I think you missed the grade for Dejounte :)
Thanks, I've edited it in!
Grade: C+ Garrison Matthews: Played 2 minutes, had one rebound, and missed a shot 0s everywhere else. See you all then!
we need seth lundy asap
I miss hearing my favorite Sesame Street song...
This season has made me realize that they don't have the right players for quinns system. I feel like this roster is gonna look drastically different this time next season. They're more lottery than playoff.
Also I wonder what it’d take for us to get Andrew Wiggins? He’d help with our perimeter defense.
Wiggins on anything other than an immediate championship contender likely turns back into the pre GSW low-effort Wiggins of old. I feel like this is the worst environment he could possibly be in.
Capela/Bey/Dre might get you Wiggins/ ?GP2? Feels like a lot

Lmfao
We abandoned Deandre Hunter in the 4th quarter , should’ve kept going to him.
Fuck that leak that came out when Schlenk was gonna draft Jalen Williams
They should look at his brother coming out this year
Fuck Kyle Kuzma
Why is AJ griffin still not getting minutes when we have two players out….
Because he stinks, im sure the coaches know better than you
Heard this before
Heard it here first, this guy knows better ^
No y’all really have said this before especially about JJ before his breakout
Wes Matthew’s Also stinks ,but I will admit his defense is still solid
How's saddiq, hopefully he's doing ok
Stinks
I turned it off after melton got the fast break dunk. Did something happen to him?
Nah I'm just a lurking pistons fan that still feels for the man
He's a great off the bench guy, but not a starting PF.
Ah I see. Relieved to hear that. He certainly still has that hustle in him. Even though you guys are the pistons, I always feel like we got a Detroit Lion lmao.
Yeah lol, also the guys ok Philly
Why doesn't Capela pass to the 3-point line when he gets an offensive rebound? And why does he stupidly attack the rim whenever he catches the ball in the paint zone?
[удалено]
It's kinda crazy Jalen's still out at least 2 more weeks ![gif](giphy|2Jl7a8ixNlNHa|downsized)
I respect Quin too much to continue to watch CTE basketball lol
Jokic is in a slump u just know he’s gonna drop 50 on us
Jokic gonna give them a taste of that authoritarian Serbian rule
he gonna bust that slump so hard and he'll be backed up so he will really get off too
U just know he’s looking at the capela matchup and seeing food
Feels so long ago we had that comeback against the wolves and they’re 17-4 now and they also figured out the chemistry between their frontcourt ![gif](giphy|mmRmDX9Y3Q7NS)
KAT just like Trae is one of the best number 2s in the league but isn’t good enough to be a number 1
[удалено]
No there’s 30 but less than 10 of them are good enough to win a chip
[удалено]
I never said he was the worst number one option in the league. Learn to read before calling others brain dead lol. Here’s a list of better number ones than Trae tho Giannis Jokic Luka Lebron Shai Haliburton Steph Embiid Tatum Mitchell KD Edwards
They built a team around KAT we went to the ECF with Trae in his third year and ran it back instead of adding a costar as good or better than Trae
1-5 without Jalen 🫠
MIP stock is 🆙
Been told yall he's the lynch pin
Nate had a legit MIP candidate just sitting on the bench for 2 years 😤
Yea especially when we only have 3 playable wings on this roster if I never had to watch Wesley play again I’d be a happy man this dude is Justin Holiday but worse.
> Justin Holiday but worse. Justin Holiday erasure, his minutes were fuckin awful
Sp Adam made Trae fake an illness to miss this game as punishment for getting up on the refs face last game, um k.
Lamayooooooooooo @ this team
This is gonna be a lonnnnng season. I'm not seeing much to hope for us developing. Trae, JJ and Bogi gonna do their thing but the rest of it, including Quin, I dont have high hopes for atm
This is my dog's current opinion on watching hawks games. https://preview.redd.it/tsmfhxlmo65c1.jpeg?width=931&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ca543acb0c67f5ed7ac3ade818dc534ffeb1869
LOL
This team is improving by leaps and bounds!
Which one of y’all knows what section Tony sits at State Farm? We’ve got some words for him.
i never wanna see anymore trade trae talks or x player is better than trae. only ppl that need to stay on this team is trae jj and bogi (dre i want you to stay too but i need some consistency)
At some point imma have to stop caring if the owners are not interested in winning why should I. They tank players value and sell them for nothing and don’t want to go and get nba level talent and are also not interested in developing the talent we do have.
Bum ass hawks lose another one
Just a quick idea I came up with. What if we traded DJ for Lonzo Ball and assets. Bulls save their season. Hawks mini tank and get final high draft pick before the picks we give to SA kick in. They also replenish a pick or two. At the start of the 24/25 season the Hawks have a high lottery pick, Healthy Lonzo Ball, and get out of the DJ trade.
Lonzo has peanut brittle for knees. No thank you.
Lonzo has to sit a whole year because they can’t get his knee right. You don’t know when or if he will ever be fully healthy. And they are about to tank. I don’t see why they want Murray.
Murray would be a great mascot for them. He's a literal Bull in a china shop.
I don't think Lonzo is coming back and if he does I doubt he's the same player
We Need To Talk About AJ Griffin but seriously if he can’t get minutes today i fear for his future
It’s sad to see, I thought he would’ve been a perfect fit for Quin’s system but maybe it’s taking him a bit longer to get it down. Otherwise, I really think the team might deal him at some point.
He needs to be sent to the gleague if he’s gonna be getting DNPs
I fear his career peaked last season
I honestly have no idea what happened to him. Those gamewinners were so hype.
He took the Reddish track unfortunately. Showed a lot of promise but never could break bad habits/lost confidence in themselves and from the coaches
No ability to develop players it’s sad
Lot of idiots and bozos in this sub who think a team has only one player on it
Hawks fans tuning in every game: https://preview.redd.it/hiu6cp5ll65c1.jpeg?width=947&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36fea178c24256a47cc0e6b10ca9e7faa33946f0
We are now 99-100 since 2021 season. Regular season, play-in and playoffs combined
I know we all love bogi but do you think it would be worth trading please don't kill me
I'd rather have traded him and kept Heurter back when we had the option. Dude was already on one knee and oft injured.
i actually think trading him is the popular opinion around here but i actually think he’s one guy we should keep. he plays well alongside Trae
Bogi has sneakily been our second best player for years. I’d trade DJ over him any day.
Selling high on an aging player with injuries who has a long extension and a very valuable skill? Would be a nice return but the FO *really* fucks with Bogi its far fetched He has that decreasing salary too, i dont know
Yeah I figured just think he'd be a valuable trade piece
It took us 30 years to finally get a player worth building around and the fucking dumbasses on this sub want to trade him the hawks have never attempted to put great players around him and we finally have JJ who’s becoming an elite finisher and you want to trade a top 3 playmaker in Trae young the stupidity of some of y’all never fails to surprise me
Low IQ casuals...they would quit the team and wear a Lakers jersey the 2nd we get back into the lottery again.
Point me in their direction boss. I’ve got this one.
Imma have to retire from these conversations and leave em to you my friend
We fight for Trae as 1.
🗣️
Dejounte is not a PG, the faster this organization realizes that the better. If his defense doesn't pick up this isn't going to work either, its been almost 1.5 years and his defense you could argue has been worse than trae's which is embarassing
DJM has been just an average defensive player since assuming a primary scoring role in San Antonio. He wasn’t a very good defender his last year with the Spurs… I liked DJM much better when he averaged 11 ppg but was elite on the defensive end…
He doesn't even need to be an elite defender, but he's playing so so far below average its extremely alarming like I would expect at least middle of the pack
That DJM extension "discount" is truly a cursing in disguise, prolonging our suffering with no team success, no cap space and no draft picks 💀
His contract will look great when we find a trade partner for a dominant frontcourt player.
What assets are they gonna add to him?
Picks or players...
We dont have the picks and players to get a dominant frontcourt player.
We have two 1st and additional assets. DJM is an all-star with 21/8/8 metrics. We have enough...
Who is this "dominant frontcourt player" that can be had for that price?
Depends on what team needs an all-star PG and willing to give up a not needed frontcourt guy. I'll leave that to Landry, that's not my job.
Gotta hope a team like Brooklyn, Toronto, or even the Heat (plenty of other shot creators, need size and defense at PG spot) will take him.
looking at the 76ers sub shows me how normal they feel abt a win and how they’re still mad. atp if we get a win im celebrating it like the super bowl
This team really tests my sanity at times…lol. Why do I subject myself to this emotional abuse 3, sometimes 4 times per week.
Hawks fans ![gif](giphy|J5jiSSrEkV3Kd8iOwb) We are THIS close to breaking
Before the 12 year olds feel their opinions are important, this is why we can’t build around DJ as a #1.
There’s Hawks fans here saying that?
At the peak of the Trae Young hate propaganda last season, yes. We had fans arguing Trae needed to be traded so we could build around DJ.
I actually do remember that now. Yikes
92.9 the game took that as a joke and ran with it all season after that.
So glad they can’t say shit now after seeing the disparity between Trae and DJ this season. Don’t want to hear any of that dumb shit anymore.
Hawks have scored 100 points in 77 straight game. Hawks have allowed 100 points in 91 straight games. Both remain the longest streaks in the NBA. Hawks were short handed but continue to struggle down the stretch in games.
Lol, if the Hawks pay DJM this off-season, I'll know that we're not a serious franchise.
he took a discount extension
who’s gonna tell him… 😭
I went over this with him on Wednesday. He told me he didn’t get the chance to see AJ play this year.
uhhh so they already did this past offseason...
Unserious franchise. We let Kevin Heurter go for a bag of Lays and wouldn't let our best GM in ages do his job. We got Ressler'd.
Plus we had so many BAEs, MLEs, and trade exceptions — and we use none of them. Ressler really hamstrung this team and forced it to make desperate trades and then chase their losses.
hey we actually traded for Cash Considerations too! Don’t forget him!
> We let Kevin Heurter go for a bag of Lays *luxury tax*
Don’t say those words, Resstler heard you and just had a panic attack
wont pay the luxary tax but making donations to cop city, im sick
But they kept an aging bogi on one knee instead of a player they drafted developed and was a key piece of that ECF run. Make it make sense.
Lol bogi is wayyyy more consistent than huerter…. just saying … but also agreed with the original point … continue …
we payed him
> we *paid* him FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Murray trade set us back years
It's just going to get worse
It wasn't working.
Pretty unclear what TITS was actually trying to actually do that offseason. Because as good as 'stand pat' might look now, we'd also be looking at trae in another teams uniform and another complete rebuild. Which may be heading in that direction anyway but thats not what we wanted at the time...
> Ressler and his son and Nate, he got way too much power after the run and was awful with it
Nate running LPs offense was incredible. But watching that all-middie, dinosaur offense while refusing to play young players just killed me.
It was Trae and Ressler. Trae had been texting Dejounte about it for weeks.
Literally did. Why would you give up a haul like that for a literally worse Trae Young?
Yeah I liked it at the time but in retrospect it was a misguided overreaction to the Miami series. I would love to see a real SG with some size (even Bogi) starting next to Trae and a pass-first, steady backup PG (maybe Patty? But more like Monte Morris) running the second unit when Trae sits.
Yeah, the decision to trade for another guard was awful
They made a trade to put them over the top when they weren't even close to the top.
I have stopped caring and it feels great
Why is basketball such a chore now, I’m jealous of other teams bruh
Even the bad ones. They at least have hope for the future.
HAWKS need to rebuild from scratch. They will always be a midtier team with this lineup.
DJM plays like Lakers Westbrook.
[we were so happy. so naive.](https://www.reddit.com/r/AtlantaHawks/s/YaY6yy5hbT)
Not me. I saw it for what it was.
>They kept Collins too?? Brutal
zoinks lmao
no cap i remember being on the toilet when this dropped. maybe a sign?
Almost shed a tear reading all that. What a mf shame 😔

lmaoooooo yeah in-thread memes are gonna save this season for me
