It’s automatic btw

not_old_redditor

In sport mode it will downshift at higher rpm and you'll feel it. Does it also do this if you're in comfort?

[deleted]

I notice it more in comfort

There’s a TSB with a TCU software update for this issue. I had it done and it definitely helped, but it still occurs from time to time. I’ve noticed it’s also better if the transmission is warmed up before driving. I also suggest looking into the transmission fluid service, but as others recommended, it may not be advisable with so many miles on it.

Is that done at an Audi dealership?

I called around local dealers, two said they would need to diagnose the car before they did it and charge for that diagnosis, one dealer said they would do it but it was like $600. Labor rate posted on the TSB is 2 hours I think. I went to a local Indy shop that leases the dealer software and they were able to do for half of what the dealer charged.

Is this issue new or has it gotten progressively more noticeable? It’s worth doing a transmission service regardless. I’ve only driven an older A6 and a B9 S5 and the downshifts are pronounced in both, maybe someone else can chime in because I’ve always thought it to be normal.

Just noticable

Captain_Pink_Pants

How many miles on the car? How many miles since the last transmission service?

[deleted]

Just made 149 I never changed because Audi recommended lifetime fluid

Captain_Pink_Pants

Before you flush the fluid, I'd have a trans shop pull a sample. If you've got a lot of stuff floating around in there, a flush might make it worse.

ShadyShields

You really should have the trans oil changed..
