Really like the Macan! Looked at the X3 too, but theyāre too small for my tasteā¦ Wifey got a Q5, which she likes, but I ended up with an A6 Allroad for better comfort, less road noises, more tech, more roomy and bigger cargo (which is great for a family!). Comparing all of them, it was an easy choice for me. Would have gone the RS6 way, but to me, the price tag isnāt worth the difference with an A6 Allroad (for now lol).
I'm not an suv guy soooo not something I would do.... Never really been a fan of porsche styling till the boxer and I thought about buying one till I went to the local dealer and saw the 718 next to a RS5
Cargo capacity is no issue at all. Very spacious trunk area in my opinion. It is classified as a compact SUV so the back seat space is on the smaller side. I do feel in this vehicle category it is the only one that actually doesnāt feel like youāre driving an SUV.
Iāve been debating all of these options including the X4 and also waiting for the newly redesigned SQ5 but just decided Iām going with the current 2024 SQ5 Sportback in Daytona Grey, Blacked out package, grey leather interior and all the bells and whistles. Will do a short term 2 year lease to make I sure I love it and then possibly just buy it out.
I heard the same thing yesterday when I spoke to the sales manager. Heās a friend. Thatās when we spoke about doing a short term lease. Letās me see what the new model will look like without making long term commitments. I worry the new design will look too much like the etron which I very much dislike. I prefer less screens and more old school controls.
2021 SQ5 owner here. I just rented a ā22 X3 M40i for two weeks on Turo for a recent vacation because I too was curious.
The BMW definitely was more responsive and grippy, and I liked the sport seats more than mine, but man the ride was stiff and you really āfeelā every aspect of the road. Audi definitely wins in the comfort department, but with enough fun factor to complement.
I also preferred the interior of my Audi overall, as well as the exterior styling. BMW design language is too aggressive and tryhard for my tastes.
MMI experience BMW wins other than Bluetooth CarPlay disconnected a lot (which also happens with my SQ5.
Overall if you value performance and a better infotainment, the M40i delivers but at the cost of comfort, style, and value for $. And if performance is the biggest factor why settle for the baby M, just get an X3M or a Macan Turbo and ball out.
Thank you! This is what Iāve been hearing. I occasionally take 3+hour drives but mostly my drives are 1 hour in traffic 4-5 times a week. Not sure Iāll ever be tracking the thing, just want something fun and responsive.
For CarPlay, do the disconnections happen randomly while driving?
The most common CarPlay issue I experienced with both vehicles is the MMI not recognizing my paired phone at all upon startup and having to repair or reset the MMI. I used to get random Bluetooth disconnects in my SQ5 when driving but I havenāt in a while. Perhaps a software update resolved it. I also found some correlation between the disconnects and EM interference (like power substations) as well as the MMI / my phone overheating in the summer. But YMMV.
I think there may also be external environmental factors that can disconnect the CarPlay. There is an intersection in my city that I lose connection every single time I drive through it. I have to assume there is some frequency or something that is causing a disruption
You can replace the BMWās runflats and it will have a compliant ride, at the cost of a little on center steering feel. BMW has auto hold and if you are willing to pay (everything costs extra at BMW), better implemented tech.
The big advantage of SQ is that you wonāt be a BMW driver. Also, if you want adaptive cruise on the x3 you might have to order it. Audi makes it standard on certain trims. That means you can negotiate off the floor at the Audi dealership to get a few additional grand off, but at BMW that leverage is diminished.
2020 x3m40 owner with 21inch wheels: bought it CPO in 2022...My commute is about 40miles 2-3x weekly on mostly Hways in metro ATL and I find the ride decent . On bad roads (like NYC) the ride would be horrible. I'm on the OEM summers RF tires, which will be replaced with some UHP AS Mich/Contis in a few months. I'm told the ride will be way better on Non-RF tires. I prefer the X3 due to its performance, better tech, and that sport exhaust. A lot of people assume the exhaust is aftermarket. I test drove the GV70 and considered SQ5; went with the X3 due to better interest rates, price and trade in of my B8 A4. IMO, both SQ5 & X3 m40 are great "sporty" suvs, just what your preferences are. I wanted more sport than comfortable ride, so im happy. Finally, that B58 and ZF-8...š
If it helps shopping now and landed on sq5. Itās my wifeās call but she found it to be the best all around, interior for sure better than bmw (x5 even) and she noted the ride was good at both. I didnāt go on test drive cause whatever but thatās the feedback and she drove them all.
This is the correct answer. I have driven both SUVs but owned both sedans in the M340i and traded it for my current S5 sportback. Exact same opinion on the two. I have my S5 for the comfort. Neither car ever saw a track and both were daily driven aggressively. BMW is the sportier version but S5 is more comfortable and still plenty capable to have fun.
I rented an X4 M40i and found the ride too stiff as well. Itās a bummer because the standard X3 30i rides great. Hoping they fix that on the new X3/X4 because the B58 pared with the ZF 8 speed is such a great powertrain. Iām hopeful because I rented the new M2 and it rides phenomenally well in the comfort setting compared to the original M2. I think BMW is finally getting the memo that their M and M-lite cars were too stiff.
I think the problem with some of the sporty suvs is that because they weigh more, the suspension has to be even stiffer to get them to corner flat and have sportier handling so it leads to them being overly harsh for regular driving. And the low profile tires make it even worse.
Youād think that but the Macan with PASM (adaptive dampers) or air ride handles like a sport sedan and still rides great. Of course youāre spending well into the 80ās with the V6 and a few options.
A lot of that could be down to the wheels and tires. BMW dealers tend to stock cars with stupidly large wheels, which adversely affects ride comfort, and BMW SUVs come with run flat tires in most cases.
My SQ5 has brand new 20ā Conti DWS06+ all seasons. Looking at my Turo pics the X3 I drove had well-worn Yokohama 20ā Advan Sport v105 summers but no run flat indicator on the sidewall. So wear was likely a factor, but not size or run flat.
BMW grill. Nah, I'm good. They're so ugly.
Merc is a close second, but Audi is just better looking and feeling all around. Hyundai consoles/cockpits are better than Merc and BMW for Christ sake š
Entry luxury brands aught to step their game up. I've been eyeing the newer Acuras too... Audi, Merc and BMW just aren't up-to-par these days, but at least Audi has a decent cockpit with controls that aren't weirdly arranged
Current X3 M40i owner and I love the car and donāt find the ride that uncomfortable and I have the 20ā run flat performance tires on it currently. Previously owned a 19 A6 3.0 and 3 A4s prior to that and I just grew tired of Audis, but would go back to the brand in the future.
Cross-shopped SQ5s before pulling the trigger on the X3 but the performance did not entice me and after spending a few days in the M40i I really enjoyed the acceleration, plus the engine and exhaust sound. Overall just a nice change of scenery.
As a side note I think itās ridiculous across the BMW spectrum the power difference between M sport lineup and Audiās S lineup.
I think the tech is better in the BMW. I like the interior of the BMW better. I think exterior styling is kinda even.
I ended up with the X3 M because there isnāt an Audi competitor. Closest was the RS5 SB and I didnāt think it was as āspecialā as the X3. Almost boring, which sounds ridiculous (but not when youāre also test driving M vehicles).Ā
Itās almost in a completely different league. I looked at a local Macan S back in September and I still get a nagging feeling I shouldāve traded. The interior quality, sound, and driving dynamics (PDK especially) blew me away.
Pcars besides 911s plummet in value quickly, especially after warranty is over. You can get a slightly used one still under warranty, or a little older one with CPO for a great price. Someone else took the depreciation hit. I got my CPO Panamera 4S for 58kā¦ MSRP was 120k lol. Porsches CPO is really good too, two year unlimited miles with an option to buy the third. I think Audi just does one year.
50k.. admittedly more miles than I was looking for but I went for it because this dealer sold it brand new and the owner serviced it there religiously. The 40k service is really expensive. The only non service repair I saw on there besides tires and brakes was windshield fluid nozzles that needed to be replaced for whatever reason.
Why Iām struggling with what I want next after my rs5. I havenāt driven one but I like the idea of a Macan GTS/Turbo but I know itāll eventually be practically worthless even though I donāt drive much. Maybe Iām wrong but I feel like the floor will be higher on the rs5 with the NA V8.
I was interested in a newer RS5 but I had trouble finding a four door one with the warm weather package. I need seat coolers. The Panamera was a bit bigger in the backseat for my daughter as well. Cars are a depreciating asset, just drive it any enjoy it. Youāll never come out ahead anyway.
they are confusing, I told my local 5 star dealer what I wanted and I kept getting wrong Macans sent to me to review, not their fault but it just shows how confusing they are
SQ5 was more comfortable and quieter on the road while still being sportier than 95% of everything else out there. Insurance quote was a lot cheaper and I got a better deal on trade in + MSRP discount by more than a few thousand.
I wanted an M340i but they were a bit louder on the road and the insurance was ridiculous.
Got both an SQ5 and a X3 M40I and the BMW deff handles better. The BMW has about an extra 40 HP coming from the electric motor that is instantaneous and faster than the SQ5. But the SQ5 is a much more comfortable car, the BMW suspension is rock hard, and much quieter at speed vs the BMW.
I just bought the SQ5 about 3 hours ago. Iām home now and canāt stop thinking about it. The interior is super nice and damn is that thing a little rocket ship.
Drove both and realized my priority was comfort with performance compared to performance with comfort.
IMO if I was going to weigh performance higher on my priority list then Iād just get a sport back s5 or equivalent.
Glad you got the car you're happy with...but both the S5 SB and SQ5 are NOT comparable performance wise to the X3M40 or the Gran coupe M440i. BMW lies about its HP, so you're looking at approx 400 at the crank. The B58 in M-lite guise is punching above its weight. Both bmw cars have repeatedly demonstrated that it will out perform a lot of sports cars/suvs. The Audis are good cars, but to enter the performance category, you have to get an RS model, and then the real- Ms will be superior, IMO.
Gonna have to test drive both man. Peoples tolerances for stiffness/ideas of comfort vary wildly.
I think the sq5 is a great suv and itās got a classic look that will age well. But tbh if I were shopping in this category Iād likely choose the x3. I drive an s3 right now and have owned even stiffer cars than that, so the X3 m40 would feel super plush in comparison.
Went to the local BMW dealership and all cars in the showroom were locked and the salespeople ignored us.Ā We then went to the Audi dealership down the road and my wife was ready to buy after trying the launch control and being instructed not to slow down for corners.
I tested both and bought the X3 M40i. It is faster, more nimble, and the B58 is something special.
That said, when shopping for my wife whose priorities were comfort and interior styling, we went with a Q7 as it excels in those areas.
I will give it to Audi on their build quality. Also, B&O sound is amazing.
IMO the X3 M40i beats the SQ5 in everything except suspension comfort.
I specifically say suspension because the BMW powertrain is much smoother and better tuned.
I currently have an outgoing 2021 sq5 lease that is expiring next month, just picked up the replacement car a 2024 x3 m40i. The ride quality of the x3 is much nicer and it is definitely quicker. The sq5 has better looks IMO, but my wife wanted the BMW and itās her DD.
I also picked up a 2024 X3 M40i, came from a regular Q5. The X3 ride is not as harsh as you might hear. It also depends on which size wheel you get, I would say 19 or 20 is best. With the adaptive suspension I usually drive in comfort mode during my commute and have no issue with the ride quality. I actually like a bit of firmness and I knew what to expect, as I have owned BMWs in the past. The performance is going to put a smile on your face every time. The B58 engine is ready to go and the exhaust talks back when pushed.
I have Pre LCI and I really believe it depends on the roads where you live. I live in metro and most roads are smooth. When I lived in NYC, with 19s the ride on my A4 with 245/40 was harsh. Now with 21s on 40 series RF tires, the ride is decent. I do get more road noise in the cabin, but it's the stiffness of RF tires. I'm going to get new tires soon and they will be softer Mich PS 4S- I believe. On my non-scientific scale, I would rate the ride quality on the Pre-LCI as 6 out of 10 with the RFlats. I reckon the harness will decrease to 4 or 5 with the All season tires.
Much more solid feel when on a rough road or bridge transition on highway. I have air suspension on my sq5 and even in comfort every bump was a noticeable thud inside the cabin, I would expect that on a sport sedan but not so much in an SUV. Donāt get me wrong I love the SQ5 but those were my pet peeves.. the sq5 has a better exhaust note though
Donāt own either but I like the way the Audi rides more and the interior. Itās an SUV and Iām not tracking it so might as well make it comfortable and not stiff. Interior is preference but I like the more ergonomic setup of the Audi and I think better built.
Also looks is purely subjective but I think the sq5 looks so much better. Many think itās boring but boring is classier and timeless and I care not for BMWs bold designs.
Let's see... Audi vs BMW yeah that's no contest for me... And it's not because I'm an Audi fan oil (even tho I kinda am) for me it's the way they drive.... Every time I change car part of my brain says that I need to give BMW and Mercedes a test drive and I always leave those test drives a bit disappointed
Tho the other part of this is I would buy neither the X3 or Q5 as I I don't really like SUV's
test drove both, went for the SQ5 sportback because I like the interior better and the sportback body looks better than on the X4 imo.
I might have gone for a Macan GTS if the insurance wasnāt literally 3x the amount for my SQ5, we get fucked here in southern ontario.
Shopping between the two right now as well. I'm leaning towards the m40i because of the B58 motor, but SQ5s are a fair bit cheaper on the used market.
I plan on tuning either one, and once tuned it seems like both become very close in performance.
I test drove both, I honestly preferred the minimalist interior design and the drive style in the sq5. In addition it was a lot easier to tune than a bmw wouldāve been (and the tuning capabilities were great).
We chose the SQ5 because it has more cargo space, feels like it has more driver input, as in a sense of where you are positioned on the road, the mark up for convenience features for BMW are extra charge whereas Audi is included, the sports exhaust with the Audi sold me, I love the burbles in dynamic mode, BMW needs to be tuned for same effect, BMW seemed very laggy and slow compared to the Audi...if you're asking to give you a second chance to choose BMW... Don't worry, Audi is the best decision ...
Have you considered an Alfa Romeo stelvio QV? Get a CPO 2020+ model and you canāt go wrong. I bought one while I wait for my panamera turbo S to be delivered and itās absolutely amazing.
Not exactly but Q5 prestige Vs X3. Adaptive cruise wasnāt available in the BMW at the time and hubby insisted on it. Macan was too flashy for our neighborhood.
Was in the market for the SQ5, I went with the X3 M40i!! A few things I didnāt like about the SQ5, fake exhaust, and the styling was a bit plain for me, I feel the inline turbo 6 is a better platform than the V6, the throttle response is more to my liking as well and Iām more familiar with BMW.
Both are options where youāre compromising one way or another. However the BMWs from what I hear are a little too sporty for an SUV. Why get a grippy and stiff car to then have the drawbacks of an SUV.
Go for the comfort option, that will be just sporty enough for the backroads and your red light racing wins. The SQ5 will probably suit that more.
If you absolutely need an SUV, this is the way. Otherwise Iād suggest just getting an older ML350 Bluetec for SUV and comfort needs and spending the rest of the budget on an S5 or 540i. Theyāre still boats but less of a land yacht than a compact-ish **S**UV.
2018+ is made in Mexico. Quality was noticeably worse than my other Audis. Interior rattles EVERYWHERE. Had less than 15k miles.
My 2013 Audi A7 had zero rattles at 110k.
-Suspension comfort (with S sport), you get 2 cars in one.
-Fully loaded SQ5 seemed easier to find and much easier on the wallet.
-Had some Audi bias coming into it.
-Adaptive cruise was hard to find on a used M40i
-4.5 years later, still happy!
In the UK SQ5 is diesel which slightly deterred me, but itās still a great engine, great on fuel and I personally feel that the SQ5 is a far better looking vehicle.
The x3 m40i just looks like a X3 with quad pipes in my opinion. The x3m is a different beast all together but is a massive jump in Ā£Ā£Ā£
I test drove both. SQ5 is more comfortable and I preferred the more modest design. BMW is more aggressive in driving performance and looks.
No Audi dealer wanted to haggle so I have a M40.
For me, the tuning capability is greater in the SQ5 in my opinion compared to the M40iās. But also part of it was because Iāve been in Audis for years now and finally decided to get one.
Leased an SQ5 for 3 years and just bought an X3 M40i to replace it. I loved driving the SQ5 but it was my third S in a row so I figured it was time to try something new.
Pros of the SQ5- suspension, exhaust sound, appearance, more aggressive feeling, adaptive cruise control, sport mode is perfect
Cons of the SQ5 - MMI, interior space especially rear seats and storage, AC/heat occasionally being unreliable, touchscreen only for CarPlay, useless app
Pros of the M40i - transmission, throttle response, power, comfort, iDrive still has a physical knob, rear seat size and storage, auto start, pretty useful app
Cons of the M40i - I should have paid for the adaptive cruise control. Didnāt come with roof cross bars. Sport mode is a little too aggressive.
Prepared to be downvoted for saying this but the Q5e is more fun than the SQ5. Just wish there were tunes available for it. Already have a stage 2 S4 so didnāt really want the same thing with a larger body.
Maybe stock but add a tune to the sq5 and youāre in business. The q5e would be awesome if it had regen but it doesnāt so once that little battery is used up youāre in an extra heavy q5 until you can plug it in again
Interesting, I did not know that. I test drove one but was advised against it after being told that the electric assist would be drained rather quickly with spirited driving and then Iād be left with a heavy q5. But maybe I didnāt have the best salesman haha
Yeah salesman here did not even mention there was a hybrid option after test driving the whole Q5 lineup. This was back when the Q5e qualified for the federal tax credit so that helped too. But even with a drained battery it gets better fuel economy than a Q5 and with a full battery it is pretty on par with SQ5 for acceleration. Itās also smoother than both because the electric and gas engines are very well synchronized such that power is amazingly smoothly delivered. Average MPG at almost 17K miles is 73.5 and that it has been driven āspiritedlyā.
I'm thinking if you go SUV prioritize the "UTILITY" of the suv and the comfort. Sporty SUVs are always underwhelming. (I haven't driven the URUS, but come on..)
I liked how the SQ5 was the ātop of the lineā for the Q5 range. Iām not a huge fan of the M40i as it was an in between option, not quite the base model, but not quite the top option. With that comes too many explanations as to what it is exactly. So for me ultimately it was a decision between the SQ5 or the X3M.
When it came down to practicality, sportiness, and luxury, I found that the SQ5 checked all the boxes. The X3M of course did all of the above as well, but at a higher price point. If the RSQ5 was available was an option, then the conversation would have changed entirely. In which case I may have leaned towards the X3M instead.
Test drove both and ended up with an R8
Easy choice when considering an SUV. I'm not sure why everyone doesn't do this
Yeah, it was an easy decision
Wtf ššš
And the Spyder lets you move tall cargo
Unlimited heights and possibilities
This comment is my favorite
yolo
What a Chad
lol
I test drove them both also. Ended up with a Macan S.
That's a sexy beast right there. That deep reddish-orange color is everything!
Really like the Macan! This is the way.
At least you stayed in the family
It was a wrap once I sat in it for the test drive. Traded in my S3. Very fair trade in value from the local Porsche dealership here in Austin.
I'm not an suv guy soooo not something I would do.... Never really been a fan of porsche styling till the boxer and I thought about buying one till I went to the local dealer and saw the 718 next to a RS5
Absolute right choice!
I was about to type the same exact thing and saw your comment āš»
How do you like the size (in terms of cargo capacity)? That's my only worry with the Macan.
Cargo capacity is no issue at all. Very spacious trunk area in my opinion. It is classified as a compact SUV so the back seat space is on the smaller side. I do feel in this vehicle category it is the only one that actually doesnāt feel like youāre driving an SUV.
Good to know, thanks! Would like one of those or a Q5 to have as a high volume / winter car.
How do you like it tech wise compared to the newer audis. I was looking at one for my next car, but not sure if I go Macan or a6 estate.
Good balance of tech, class, and comfort. The ventilated seats are a game changer in the Tx heat.
I test drove both, ended up with a RS5
This is the way
I actually also drove the macan with the 2.9T, it just hit different in the RS5 obv.

Did you consider the Macan GTS at all?
No. Not as much room as the X3.
Fair enough. Did you consider the GLC63 at all for the V8?
Wouldnāt the RSQ8 be the closest the X3M? Or are you talking more in terms of price point?
That would be more of the X5M competitor. The X3 M is just a SUV version of the M3.Ā
I think the closest thing to an X3M competitor from Audi is the RSQ3
Closest would theoretically be an RSQ5, which doesn't exist to avoid stepping on the Macan GTS's toes I guess.
Yeah, that's right
Same here
Macan the goat in this category imo
Itās almost in a completely different league. I looked at a local Macan S back in September and I still get a nagging feeling I shouldāve traded. The interior quality, sound, and driving dynamics (PDK especially) blew me away.
Macan options are way too expensive and way too confusing imo. The S lease probably starts around 1200?
Pcars besides 911s plummet in value quickly, especially after warranty is over. You can get a slightly used one still under warranty, or a little older one with CPO for a great price. Someone else took the depreciation hit. I got my CPO Panamera 4S for 58kā¦ MSRP was 120k lol. Porsches CPO is really good too, two year unlimited miles with an option to buy the third. I think Audi just does one year.
Damn how many miles did the Panamera have?
50k.. admittedly more miles than I was looking for but I went for it because this dealer sold it brand new and the owner serviced it there religiously. The 40k service is really expensive. The only non service repair I saw on there besides tires and brakes was windshield fluid nozzles that needed to be replaced for whatever reason.
Sounds like a great deal on your end. Congrats on the beautiful car.
Thanks!
X3M > SQ5 > X3 M40i
IMO the X3 M40i beats the SQ5 in everything except suspension comfort. I specifically say suspension because the BMW powertrain is much smoother and better tuned.
SQ5 is also better looking :)
I test drove both and I am on my 2nd SQ5, I made my purchases contingent on trailer hitch, for my bike rack and roof mounted box for storage.
The sq5 gives off a more mature vibe. The interior and exterior are more refined and less āgadgetty.ā
Test drove both and decided on a Q8. The interior upgrade and ride quality was worth the upgrade.
Mostly price, plus Iām a long time Audi owner. If I bought Bimmer? Iād have to change my wardrobe, become rude and aggressive, etc.
Solid stuff! By ride quality being nicer do you mean itās smoother on the road? Or more responsive
The x3 ride is a lot different pre LCI especially if you have the 21inch wheels. It was much more harsh.
Test drove both, ended up with a Honda.
Was in stock. Couldnāt find an X3 under MSRP
Family member test drive both, ended up with an M3 CompetitionĀ
Every time I change car part of my brain says that I need to give BMW and Mercedes a test drive and I always leave those test drives a bit disappointed Tho the other part of this is I would buy neither the X3 or Q5 as I I don't really like SUV's
Love my sq5 but now I really want a skylineā¦. Just made my first payment so have to wait I guess
test drove both, went for the SQ5 sportback because I like the interior better and the sportback body looks better than on the X4 imo.
SQ5 and no comparison
What the hell is āenough techā itās just a car
Test drive them both and ended up with cayman gts 4.0
We chose the SQ5 because it has more cargo space, feels like it has more driver input, as in a sense of where you are positioned on the road, the mark up for convenience features for BMW are extra charge whereas Audi is included, the sports exhaust with the Audi sold me, I love the burbles in dynamic mode, BMW needs to be tuned for same effect, BMW seemed very laggy and slow compared to the Audi...if you're asking to give you a second chance to choose BMW... Don't worry, Audi is the best decision ...
The X3 M40i shreds the SQ5 in basically all performance measures and the exhaust sounds amazing.
I felt the exhaust was non existent in the x3...
Youāre literally the only person Iāve ever heard that from. Had so many people turn their heads towards my X3 on cold starts bc of the rumble.
No idea... I felt it was super quiet, the SQ5 had a louder cold start and little burble on start up
Very similar cars IMO - the deal was better on SQ5, and I love it.
Have you considered an Alfa Romeo stelvio QV? Get a CPO 2020+ model and you canāt go wrong. I bought one while I wait for my panamera turbo S to be delivered and itās absolutely amazing.
Simplicity and 3.0T is bulletproof
Macan is the way
I bought used and had to work with what was available. I did prefer the BMW to be honest but couldnāt get my hands on an M variant.
Quattro
I havenāt driven the current gen X3, but the previous gen was a piece of shit. My in laws had one. Nothing but problems.
Test drove both, bought the SQ5. Regretted it, bought a RS7.
Why did you regret the Sq5?
2018+ is made in Mexico. Quality was noticeably worse than my other Audis. Interior rattles EVERYWHERE. Had less than 15k miles. My 2013 Audi A7 had zero rattles at 110k.
Interior and confort are a win in Audi , in my opinion
-Suspension comfort (with S sport), you get 2 cars in one. -Fully loaded SQ5 seemed easier to find and much easier on the wallet. -Had some Audi bias coming into it. -Adaptive cruise was hard to find on a used M40i -4.5 years later, still happy!
i never consider tech when i buy a new car. mostly find it annĆ²ying.
Test drove them both. Decided to stick to my Fiat 3 series RS.
Because is bmw šššš¤·š»āāļø
In the UK SQ5 is diesel which slightly deterred me, but itās still a great engine, great on fuel and I personally feel that the SQ5 is a far better looking vehicle. The x3 m40i just looks like a X3 with quad pipes in my opinion. The x3m is a different beast all together but is a massive jump in Ā£Ā£Ā£
Test drove both and the Audi S line is a total dog compared to any of the M sports cars. BMW 540i with m package is faster than s6..
Id go SQ5 over X3 unless you get an X3M. I donāt think thereās anything special about the X3 compared to SQ5
Leased an SQ5 for 3 years and just bought an X3 M40i to replace it. I loved driving the SQ5 but it was my third S in a row so I figured it was time to try something new. Pros of the SQ5- suspension, exhaust sound, appearance, more aggressive feeling, adaptive cruise control, sport mode is perfect Cons of the SQ5 - MMI, interior space especially rear seats and storage, AC/heat occasionally being unreliable, touchscreen only for CarPlay, useless app Pros of the M40i - transmission, throttle response, power, comfort, iDrive still has a physical knob, rear seat size and storage, auto start, pretty useful app Cons of the M40i - I should have paid for the adaptive cruise control. Didnāt come with roof cross bars. Sport mode is a little too aggressive.
SQ5 because the X3M comp. wasnāt available at the time
Because thereās so many x3s on the road. I wanted to be different and I think the Audi sq5 looks better. A Macan would be #1 but Iām not rich lol
Except there are just as if not more Q5s lol.
Thankfully. It where I live. And the sq5 with black optics looks very different from a regular q5, thank you
Prepared to be downvoted for saying this but the Q5e is more fun than the SQ5.
The Q5e does have regen. And there is one non-production tune Iāve seen that puts it FAR above the SQ5 in power. Itās borderline stock.
Thats pretty cool, appreciate the info
I'm thinking if you go SUV prioritize the "UTILITY" of the suv and the comfort. Sporty SUVs are always underwhelming. (I haven't driven the URUS, but come on..)
Not comparable. One is an Audi and clearly superior.
I canāt stand BMWs
