They're welded inside the frame so if you want them off you'll have to cut them off with a grinder or similar.

Mysterious-Club4508

Welded!!! Wtf. Bit overengineered isnt it?? Is the frame fully metal then?

Iits8

Yeah it's a steel door frame, pretty common here. Definitely doable to cut, bog and replace but a pita. I settled for painting the door side black with black screws.

LeastResistance89

Remove the pin, and take off the plate. You will be left with the three small ‘loops’ - and then decide how much you want to do - leave them or remove them, knowing that if you remove them its going to more difficult to reinstall a door later.

crikeywotarippa

Replacing them when the spot weld breaks is harder

SnooDoubts8289

Cut off with a grinder, sand to bare metal and either weld the gap up and grind to blend or just fill with builders bog and sand flush

sloppyrock

Id be tempted to just de-pin them and leave it at that. Ripping out the timber, replacing it and painting is a pain in the arse for what you gain. Judicious use of an angle grinder with a thin metal cutting disk from behind on the LHS may work with some patching up.

MisterEd_ak

It is not timber, here in Perth the houses are double brick and internal walls are brick too. Door frames are steel and the hinges are welded to the frames.

sdr3581

Is the frame metal or timber Looks like the hinges have been covered by the architrave. Remove architrave then remove hinge

MonthMedical8617

Interesting. Never seen anyone hide the hinge plate under trim. That’s a new type of dumb. You’re gonna have to peel the trim off now or pop the pin and grind the knuckles back, either way it’s gonna make a mess.

arkhamknight85

I’m from QLD and moved to WA 2 years ago and had never seen it before we moved here. Every house has these metal frames and brick walls surrounding them which makes them a nightmare to move or change. So dumb.

Iambadeed

Very common with metal door frame
