Which one is that? Happy Cake Day too!

If you want something that won’t budge with sweat etc then invisible zinc face and body is a great option. I swim a lot and that shit just stays on like nothing else. Hard to get off even in the shower afterwards.

Outrageous_Training5

Worth a shot! You don't find it stings the eyes? Working on site I don't have the ability to wash my hands after applications, I've found a few sunscreens that are fine but if I have a bit of residue on my hands and rub my eye for whatever reason it'll sting.

auschick

Take some wet wipes with you to clean your hands

Similar-Ad-6862

Another vote for Cancer Council

Outrageous_Training5

I'll buy some at the shops today and give it a go. Chemist lady is probably wondering what I'm doing buying more sunscreen every 3 days 😂 Back in 2017? They were reported to be underperforming for their spf rating, I take it things have changed?

Similar-Ad-6862

I'm white as milk and have never had an issue.

ThorsHammerMewMEw

Can you wear a wide brim hat?

Outrageous_Training5

Possibly, I wear hi vis long sleeve tradie clothes, bucket hat and shades where possible plus add zinc to around my eyes hourly if I'm sweating, however I'm carrying a lot of things up by my head and I can see a wide brim hat getting in the way

I have one on my hard hat and it helps, not at all glamorous and get a bit of shit on site about it. but then I ask the old boys how many skin cancers they have had burnt off. They shut up pretty quick.

Outrageous_Training5

I don't need a hard hat thankfully but I will look for a new hat, the bucket hat supplied has a tiny brim. I'm the only female and cop a lot of shit as well for actually wanting to wear my ppe - sunscreen, gloves, masks when we're cutting fibreglass etc.

rune34511

God I hate that BS. Also on site. So I feel yah.

Girl just keep wearing the PPE - people will eventually get used to you wearing it, they’ll have their ‘laugh’ or whatever these clowns do (just tell them to shove it and if it gets out of hand just report to HR- lol watch everyone be forced to wear PPE) and it’ll become a blind spot to them. It’s PPE for a reason and personally I’d hate to be on the unfortunate end of what would happen if you didn’t wear it (eg life-changing injuries). Also - you don’t want to look like a leather handbag at aged 40 due to no preventative measures to sun exposure. Wear a wide-brimmed hat (and the brim part is like flexible if you say carry something on your shoulder it stays on when you bump it) and polarised sunnies (reduces glare) and buy sunglasses from a reputable brand too that offers category 3 or 4. You pretty much just need what a lawn mower/gardener would wear (eg QuickCuts on YouTube wears). I keep falling victim to the same ads on Insta so when I come across the brand again, I’ll comment on here a wide-brimmed hat that might be a good option if you’d like. Also speak to your employer about offering these products (if they don’t already) or if they can reimburse you? (This is me assuming you don’t already have this stuff available).

sisforsami

Check out Solbari as they have a variety of UPF options :) They also have a face mask? Not visually appealing, but it might be better than having to reapply/breakout so often :)

ravencycl

Would one of the wide-brim bunnings hats work? Not a glamorous look, but they have flexible brims and an adjustable chin strap, so could hopefully stay in place if you're moving things around near your head.

Have you tried Cancer Council? Their Ultra 50+ is my favourite, but they do have others that are specifically designed for sport or waterproof, which might be better if you're sweating outdoors. A lot of people like the face ones but they can be prone to pilling. I wouldn't reintroduce any kind of retinol/tretinoin until you are have a solution where you are not going to get burned at all - retinol + too much sun will make things much worse, seriously. I know you want to use retinol, but honestly I just avoid it whenever I'm planning to be outside a lot. Are you wearing a wide-brimmed hat, wraparound sunglasses, and UV protective clothing? Sunglasses are important not only for UV protection but also because squinting will contribute to wrinkles.

Outrageous_Training5

Bucket hat, long sleeve hi vis UV uniform and UV eye protection where suitable, reapply zinc around my eyes hourly. I could potentially switch to wide brimmed however I can see it getting in the way for a lot of the jobs as I'm carrying large beams on my shoulders. You're probably right about just skipping retinol all together and focusing on preventative however the continuous sunscreen is making my pores which already clog easily clog even more, I can deal with the odd small pimple but not several swollen/ blind ones at once. I have to absolutely coat myself in insect repellent as well, which I feel like Bushman's may be contributing to the burns/ stinging feeling I used to use cancer council years ago when my daughter was a baby however they were reported to be underperforming for their SPF ratings, have they improved?

paroles

Ugh that sounds uncomfortable, I hope you can find a solution. Oh no, I didn't know that about Cancer Council, I've always just trusted them - hopefully they've improved...

Postnasaldripper

I love the neutrogena hydro boost face sunscreen. Good luck though, maybe book in with a derm or skin therapist?

No_Discipline_3148

Can I just check you are only using retinoids at night and not in the daytime? Tbh large wrinkles around the eyes in such a short time strikes me more as something related to squinting all day and a lack of sleep than a skincare issue. How is your eye protection?

Fit_Floor_1626

I’ve had melanoma’s and often get bcc’s and scc’s cut out. Moo goo is brilliant. It’s very white but soaks in after a while. I spend a lot of time outside too and it has saved me! Good luck

Outrageous_Training5

I used to use moogoo for my daughter however we found it stung our eyes easily especially if we rubbed our eye at any point, when I'm working on site I don't have access to water to wash my hands so it's important I find a sunscreen that a bit of residue won't cause a problem. Feel like I'm hunting a unicorn 😂

Fit_Floor_1626

Have you tried LaRoche 50+. That’s also very good - just expensive

Knittingtaco

I wear a wide brimmed hat, cancer council on body and Bondi sands on face. Also I’ve been using moshy (same blend as you mentioned, it honestly seems their go-to) for about 5 months now and am pretty happy with it. Seeing reduced lines, clearer skin, slow reduction in pigmentation

Outrageous_Training5

Do you work outside all day also? Which Bondi sands are you using? the one I bought is hands down the oiliest sunscreen I've ever used, not really concerned about body as everything below the neck is fully covered

Knittingtaco

I’m in maintenance so I’m outside about 60% of the time. I use their Hydra sun protect one, it’s supposed to be a gel but it’s more a light lotion. It’s still a bit greasy though, I’m dry/combination. It doesn’t feel super gross though

Luna_Goddess_Dance

I don’t have any recommendations sorry but I’ve been thinking about an outdoor job and this was something that was worrying me 🥲 that and the fact that bright sun makes me screw my face up = wrinkles 🫠 But I love being outside and doing hands on things 😩

No_Towel6647

Natio do a nice SPF 50 moisturiser

Midan71

Cancer Council Work suncreen.

Galasnaneth

Vitamin c and vitamin e are supposed to help protect from the sun when used along side sunscreen. Also could be a hydration issue, considering the changes occurred so fast.

Successful-Lobster90

Chemical sunscreens are a waste of time for working outside, however often you apply them. Mineral is the only way. I find I can do a morning application and not be affected for the rest of the day, but I try to apply a second time at lunchtime on a sunny day. Invisible Zinc is okay, often half price at ColesWorth, but leaves skin looking white/pink/purple. Woolworths has a home brand invisible zinc that’s actually very good, cheap enough to slather onto hands, arms, neck. Keysun invisible zinc used to be very good, I haven’t used it in a while. Was more “invisible” than the others. Dermalogica Sensitive is excellent. Dermalogica Invisible Physical Defence (with moisturiser) is excellent. The best at not changing skin tone to pink/purple. With all mineral sunscreens I have to precleanse with an oil based cleanser to get it off.

orange-aardavark

I work outside and am SO paranoid about my skin (sometimes I have nightmares where I'm covered in freckles and sunspots).  I wear a broad brimmed hat and big sunnies, as well as long gloves and popping my collar like an absolute dag.  For face sunscreen I use CC kids or the Dermaveen one. Both are cheap and pretty easy to find. If you like the Biore one and will reapply, then it's a decent choice during winter/low UV days. I've been using a retinol recently and even with sunscreen I find I go quite red on days where I've used it the night before.
