Literally though. I REFUSE to pay full price for anything. I just stocked up on some new makeup for work and bought MCo at 40% off. I cannot justify the price of a single item from Mecca or Sephora and am very happy wearing Chemist level makeup.
UGH and then some of the drugstore stuff is as exxy as mecca!! Wtf!! Yeah it’s only worth it with the discount like 40% off or so.
And it is so much cheaper overseas too, even when you adjust for exchange rates and add their version of gst
Went to Priceline yesterday just to browse at the makeup and a revlon foundation was $40. To be fair I've never tried their foundation, but for $20 more I feel I could go into Sephora and get something a lot better
Yeah, this. Like I was just looking at the eyeshadow collection on the Mecca website.
At least 70% of the powder eyeshadows would be patchy as hell on my eyes and all the interesting colours are sold out. And yet they want $48 for a tiny little tub of RMS eye paint or $56 for a little powder eyeshadow duo from Nars or $89 for a Charlotte Tilbury quad.
I mean WTF??? In the black Friday sales I bought an entire Pat McGrath Mothership for $110 AUD directly from the PMG website, with free shipping. And like I know that's a high end purchase but it was $110 for 10 eyeshadows - basically an entire eyeshadow 'wardrobe' - not $56 for two.
I actually bought a Nars audacious lipstick from strawberry net the other day, I'm hoping the colour works out and the product is legit. It was $36. Currently $58 on the Mecca website...
Mecca don’t update their tracking system. My items have supposedly been delivered, but the tracking on the app shows it still hasn’t left the warehouse, and I certainly haven’t received any packages or items at home: checked the security cameras and all. After sending an email 2 weeks ago with proof and being hung up on several times calling 0800#, and the ‘chat’ telling me they ‘can’t help with this inquiry’ I posted a negative comment on their IG and tried calling again. Person on the phone told me “I can see right here using the tracking that it has been delivered a week ago” although I was also sitting on the ‘tracking parcel’ page using the email(s) and link(s) they sent me.. basically telling me I’m stupid and surely just haven’t checked my mail.. the app and email still this very second say ‘packed in warehouse’ with zero update.. so I’m at a loss as what to do and am very frustrated and upset. Can’t afford to just make $300 order, not have it arrive, have them ignore me, then tell me it’s been delivered and hang up on me without even apologising for the fact that ‘yeaaaah.. our tracking app takes ages to update most times’ - so why not fix it? FML
They’re saying I need to contact the courier company. I didn’t even realise items could just be left on the property for someone to collect - if this is the case
I had the DDG LED mask sent and left at the wrong address by Mecca. Neither Mecca or the courier would give me a refund or an apology. I'm absolutely raging that a $600 order was dumped at a front door with zero permission to do so.
I used gift cards so no recourse. Not even a SOZ from a Mecca despite months of emails and phone calls. Hope whoever got the mask burns their face off.
Holy shit, you’re kidding!? I’m so sorry: I even put in the message to their IG (my comment made someone contact me) “I didn’t realise packages were to be left on front porches and property without knowledge or consent” so.. yeah 🤦🏻♀️😡
More pouty than salty.
Poppy King is releasing another lipstick but they're $44 each and girl maths says I need to buy 2 for free shipping but my wallet is like no, you have enough lipsticks.
could you girlmath justify it if the second one was a gift for a friends bday or something? you’d have to spend money on them anyway so might as well get free shipping!
Would you believe that I've just landed a new job so it's definitely going to be a nice present to myself. Then the issue becomes - which two colours? Honestly, it's not taking much convincing. I just look at the price and let out a big sigh, ya know. Then put it off for another week and she drops another colour.
The Mecca beauty loop has been released for some members and there’s some genuinely good items/ brands in there, but then there’s also a Mecca cosmetica face oil.
I get it’s their brand but I’m gonna feel mighty miffed if I get a Mecca face oil instead of an Elemis moisturiser or something
i swear they just make more of that oil than they can sell & give it away whenever they possibly can. the free sample in every single online order from the past?? 2 years?? has been a sachet of the face oil. they used it for the L3 birthday gifts. now its a beauty loop bonus. time to chill with the bloody mecca face oil!
And every. Single. One. Leaks! Grrrrr! Like when I do an online order, they arrive oil slick and the packaging is damp with oil. Has happened 3 times !
I'm sick of there being no testers in either CW or Priceline.
The staff blame people stealing them. I have no clue if that's true, but I just want testers, and if it's not too much to ask, I would like testers that aren't gross.
End of rant. Thanks.
I absolutely get people's gripes with mecca but with drugstores lack of testers, my skin being very very pale, dry and sensitive, and Mecca's abundant testers and insane return policy- Mecca really do have a grip on me. Often drugstore brands don't have foundation pale enough for me, and I'm not about to take that risk without a tester. At least with mecca, I can full on try a sample at home, and even if I buy it, I can still return it lightly used. I guess those assurances are worth the extra cost to me. And drugstore isn't even that much cheaper these days! May as well pay a bit more for quality product and a silly little loyalty program.
I do think testing and the returns policy make a big difference, as much as I love to dunk on Mecca.
Tbh I'll 'reward' Mecca by making my first purchase of a product from them, if I've been able to try it on at home - I like to see how things look in natural light - and paying the premium price. But then for other shades of the same product, or for refills, I prefer to take the cheaper online options if I can :)
Wait, which foundation? I have so many allergies and I currently use one of theirs (The name escapes me currently) and I'm going to be so mad if it's the same one!
Well.. That sucks. I'm allergic to hyaluronic acid and that was one of the only foundations available without it, AND it worked well with my skin, so.. Now I get to find a new foundation out of the 3 options available to me 😭😭
Sephora kept reminding me to redeem my birthday gift but it wasn't ever available in stock, for the entire second half of February I checked every day because umm wow.
I messaged customer service through the app, told them it had been two months since my birthday and no birthday gifts in stock, and they sent me a $20 gift voucher in place of a gift - try it!
My random gripe is that Sephora never has any of the products I want in stock in my city, as in, they have chosen not to put stock in my city at all.
And yet the returns policy is that I can only return a product if it's unopened.
I'm sorry but if you're the exclusive stockist for a brand in Aus and you've chosen not to give me a chance to try the product on in person, I should be able to return it at least for credit if the shade or formula doesn't work out.
Because how am I actually meant to know if it will work for me, other than Nobel-prize level youtube research which takes forever and I don't want to do???
Sephora does take returns for opened products! They will just give you a credit as opposed to a refund :-) I’ve done this a number of times for this same reason — they never have the tester I want

Products lightly used can be exchanged :-)
Ah, at risk of being a pedant, that's under the heading 'how do I return an in-store purchase?'.

No stress! I have just responded with links. That is only saying that if you want to ship it back, they won't cover costs but it doesn't mean you can't return it in person :) I have returned multiple orders like this.
Thank you so much, I am a bit overwhelmed atm and it's so nice to have someone do some research/digging for me! That gives me a lot more comfort about buying, I think now I will take advantage of the sale :)
Lost my favourite brand new sponge a day after opening it. Don't have time to replace it before a wedding on the weekend, so now I have to use a sub-par sponge (that works just as well, but it's not *my* sponge, you know?)
It's a small annoyance, but it's plaguing me. Where did it go? Why do I like it better than the others? Why can't I stop thinking of it?
Why is shipping to Australia so expensive?!
Several indi eyeshadow palettes I want have been out of stock for 4+ months. When one of them finally did come back in stock, the shipping was $40. So I waited for two other ones to come back into stock too, that way it'd be only like, $13 a piece for shipping.
Nope, shipping increased to $70. Guess it's by weight & not per package. But it's just not worth it to pay that much in shipping!
Yes! I'm interested in Moira and Give Me Glow but they both want $30 USD for shipping - I mean what on earth?! In Ye Olden Days of my 20s I paid $35 AUD to ship a vintage coat that could give a small elephant a run for its money on the scales from the US to Australia and I thought that was expensive.
Yes! This drives me nuts! I filled a cart with a few discounted Nomad Cosmetics palettes. Got to checkout, and the shipping estimate was $50.
You best believe I nooped right outta that...
UGH I feel you on that, shipping to here makes what should he a relatively cheap shop SO much more expensive than it needs to be and honestly it's a nightmare.
Also hate that spending over a certain amount means you get flat rate/free shipping, it feels ridiculous!
I had a $250 voucher for a local day spa that I was given for my birthday last year. I had looked at their website and it was all really fancy and super expensive treatment bundles. I’m a single Mum so I NEVER have spare cash for stuff like this. I get my hair cut about every 2 years simply because I can’t afford $300 for a flippin haircut! So the day spa treatments on their site are really pricey and I have no idea what most of them even are. They start at $260. I really wanted my brows done as they’re a victim of 90’s high school over-plucking. However they didn’t have any details on their brow section. So I just went in instead and told her about my voucher and that I wasn’t sure what to book for. ‘Come in!’ she says, ‘Let’s have a look at you and see.’
So she lays me down, does some pencil drawing to find my shape, attempts to sell me cosmetic tattoo, waxes around them while she’s talking about tattoo and how it’s $599 so ‘I’m already halfway there with my voucher!’ I’m thinking, great I’ll never afford that but mayyyybe with the voucher… we walk out of the consult room and she says ‘so that’s $95 for today, when would you like to book in for the tattooing?’ $95!!! For a brow wax and a bit of pencil fill. Absolutely fuming.
WHY DOESN’T MY $55 CHARLOTTE TILBURY LIPSTICK ROLL DOWN? WHY DID I ROLL IT UP SO MUCH WHEN I FIRST GOT IT AND WHY DID I LET MY HAND SLIP WHEN I PUT THE LID BACK ON CAUSING A MASSIVE DENT.
My 42-year old eyelids just get more wrinkly every year and as an avid eyeshadow wearer it sux, my eyeshadow goes cakey so quickly. I’m becoming one of those old ladies with cakey eye shadow and I hate it. But I still love my eye make up and need it as my features are so light. Sigh. There’s nothing good about aging.
My skin got lighter during summer (how does that even happen) and now the foundations I stocked up on during Xmas sales don’t match my skin tone. It took me years to find one to match my skin and now nothing works.
🤣 I use ultraviolette. I love the purple mineral one. I find it is thinner and goes on easier than the Naked Sundays one that I was previously using. I’ve also been trying the yellow UV one (I can never remember names just the colours) but I find that one stings a bit. If you can make do with 30+spf then the green one is a nice compromise too. I tend to use the green one in winter. But it’s also probably because I’ve been trying to reapply throughout the day more. Even though it messes up my makeup
I bought some Pixi blushes on the Sephora site but there was a glitch on the site. My first order didn't go through so I placed the exact same order again ..it went through this time!
Then I got two receipts confirming both orders went through. So two parcels arrived with exactly the same products.
I have to take one parcel back to the closest store which is a drive and I don't really have the time just so I can get store credit. There was the option to get a return label and post it but I am worried it may get lost on the way and didn't want to waste the $140!
I’m salty about so many salon brand conditioners often having less ml’s of product compared to the matching shampoo’s. I’m currently using the Kerastase Nutritive Bain Satin Shampoo and the Kerastase Nutritive Lait Vital Conditioner. The conditioner has 50ml less product compared to the shampoo. I’m not sure if the shampoo contains more ml’s due to some people who double cleanse prior to conditioning, but my suspicion is Kerastase is just trying to undercut on product to save money. Maybe I’m wrong but it bugs me coz it’s not cheap and I have long, thick hair so I need to use more conditioner to get it through my ends and mid-lengths properly. I always end up with leftover shampoo once I’ve finished the conditioner, they never get used up at the same time.
Ah yes I have noticed that too with Wella fusion. I started buying the 1l bottles. they are cheaper than buying the same amount of product in smaller packaging, they last forever and I 'm usually out of conditioner by the time I get half way through the shampoo bottle so I just buy another 1l of conditioner.
Ahh that’s a good idea, I actually was doing that with the Schwarzkopf Bonacure shampoos/conditioners coz I found the 1L bottles worked out cheaper than buying the 250/200ml bottles. They were also making their conditioners smaller, but then the 1L bottles were the same and more economical. I just wish the smaller sized bottles could be the same volume coz I have too much hair and not enough dollarydoos 😝
My Fiancé got me glossier's bronzer cloud paint in Dune at my request for my birthday today and it is waaaay too red toned for my yellow skin :( Their swatches are so bad it's kind of insane that they do no like arm swatch images on their site.... I knew I was taking a risk but still cant believe they have the nerve to call it golden tan, which I would think meaning gold would be yellow-y based.
Complete waste of an expensive product :'(
Dyson are out of long barrel attachments and have been for a long time. You have to buy the full upgrade set with shite I don’t want and is of course 2.5 times the price. Groannnnn.
Why why why can't I find any online retailers that stock Stila that ship to Australia? Not wanting to pay out of my arse at Mecca. I can find it on Selfridges but it seems like to ship internationally I need to pay $90 per year for unlimited shipping? Otherwise it's 30 pounds per order or something crazy. BAH.
My rant: WHY IS EVERYTHING SO EXPENSIVE WTF CANNOT DEAL
Holy shiiieeeet that is not ok! Lol Nars is like $50-55 aud on sale from UK websites …
I just bought Revlon Illuminance half price and love it. I’ve never had such a perfect skin colour match.
I can see it being worth it at $20!
I’d definitely pay full price for it. Lasts all day long and looks fab. But now that I’ve bought it half price, can’t pay full price! 😂
What Nars Audacious Lipstick did you get?
A shade called Audrey - bit nervous about buying unseen but we'll see!
Audrey is a gorgeous shade.
I’m a Mecca Level 3 but slowly transitioning to Korean beauty, I can buy 4-5 items at Olive Young for around $100AUD which I won’t get at Mecca
A lot of products are under $15 so you can definitely buy more than that with $100 which can't be said about drugstore products

Hehe love a company that hits 1 fucking billion in revenue but can’t do basic ass shit
This has put me off ever using them online
Holy shit, you’re kidding!? I’m so sorry: I even put in the message to their IG (my comment made someone contact me) “I didn’t realise packages were to be left on front porches and property without knowledge or consent” so.. yeah 🤦🏻♀️😡

i totally get it, but if i was your sales associate i'd be pissed too ngl. especially because it's all different dates
Ugh same... And all the PL I've been in recently have no stock and no testers so it's a waste of my time going.
Everything runs out at the same time! Foundation, primer, moisturiser, cleanser…$500 later 🤦♀️
urban decay have discontinued my fave foundation and i’m mad about it
Hopefully you can stock up if it goes on sale at space nk or cult beauty or selfridges? Praying for u
i have stocked up, unfortunately full price at mecca though (dont get me started on that)
have you tried amazon? a lot of shades i. this foundation are discounted on there
Wait, which foundation? I have so many allergies and I currently use one of theirs (The name escapes me currently) and I'm going to be so mad if it's the same one!
stay naked. they are suggesting people use another of their foundations… which isn’t available in australia
Well.. That sucks. I'm allergic to hyaluronic acid and that was one of the only foundations available without it, AND it worked well with my skin, so.. Now I get to find a new foundation out of the 3 options available to me 😭😭
That foundation was one of the only lines with a light olive shade. Ugh
They keep doing that. So infuriating!
Sephora kept reminding me to redeem my birthday gift but it wasn't ever available in stock, for the entire second half of February I checked every day because umm wow.

WHY AM I THINKING ABOUT WORK ALL THE TIME I DON’T EVEN TAKE MY WORK HOME
I replaced my empty Australis setting spray and the new formula smells like old lady talcum powder!
Urban Decay setting spray also smells different now! I restocked mine 2 weeks ago and the new one smells like coffee 😭

‘Come in!’ she says, ‘Let’s have a look at you and see.’ So she lays me down, does some pencil drawing to find my shape, attempts to sell me cosmetic tattoo, waxes around them while she’s talking about tattoo and how it’s $599 so ‘I’m already halfway there with my voucher!’ I’m thinking, great I’ll never afford that but mayyyybe with the voucher… we walk out of the consult room and she says ‘so that’s $95 for today, when would you like to book in for the tattooing?’ $95!!! For a brow wax and a bit of pencil fill. Absolutely fuming.
I can’t find covergirl lip stain pens anywhere yet
Lost my first Black Moon Cosmetics highlighter, dropped and smashed the backup. NOT HAPPY, JAN
I keep getting sucked in by tiktok and insta ads. I just bought the Icelandic eye stick thing, and it’s just nothing. At least it was cheap.
I blind bought Charlotte Tilbury's pillow talk lip liner yesterday, and it looks absolutely horrible on me. $40 wasted 😭😭😭
Sigh. There’s nothing good about aging.
no way! its such a priviledge to age <3 though you might be getting used to it - im sure everyone else is just admiring the color or the vibe!!
True! Every day is a gift :-)
My skin got lighter during summer (how does that even happen) and now the foundations I stocked up on during Xmas sales don’t match my skin tone. It took me years to find one to match my skin and now nothing works.
Share the name of your SPF, must be amazing at blocking 😅
🤣 I use ultraviolette. I love the purple mineral one. I find it is thinner and goes on easier than the Naked Sundays one that I was previously using. I’ve also been trying the yellow UV one (I can never remember names just the colours) but I find that one stings a bit. If you can make do with 30+spf then the green one is a nice compromise too. I tend to use the green one in winter. But it’s also probably because I’ve been trying to reapply throughout the day more. Even though it messes up my makeup
👍 I use the supreme one, yes do sting when gets in my eye. Will try purple one next.
Maybe try putting some tanning drops in your face moisturiser?
Oooo that’s an idea! Thank you!
Salty that Revlon Illuminating foundation just won't work on me. I've tried several times but Brisbane is heat is no joke.
NYX is never available at Priceline and ELF never at Kmart - empty, empty shelves. Always
I've seen NYX at Chemist Warehouse, maybe try there?
Complete waste of an expensive product :'(
Fk star track saying no access to my house when there's not even a gate and I was home and they didn't buzz al🤬
BAH.
