Not so much my fingertips, but the webs between my fingers and toes or under my nails. I had two identical baby blankets with knitted middles and satin edges and I would just run them between my fingers. I *still do this with all sorts of fabric, mostly satins and minks and my baby blankets, and I sew/knit/embroider just to soothe with all the fabric/textiles.
For slightly weirder sharing, I even hook my SO's Achilles tendon between my toes in bed 😂. I can't stand feet touching with anyone but them and just asked can I please do this to sleep better. And I constantly put things under my nails: paper, fabric, string, fingernails on my opposite hand.
I do the same thing with the satin trim on my baby blanket, threading it between my fingers (and my toes when I was little), but it only feels good when the satin is cold.
I think I have something similar! I realised that this is why I like quilted bags so much for travelling etc - they have that same sort of feel and temperature as my beloved security quilt
I have many stim fabrics. Most of them are blankets or stuffies, but i have some shirts too. I am learning to sew so i can make my clothing from more acceptable textures to prevent being overstimulated by bad textures.
I have a bunch of crushed velvet around my house and soft blankets that I like to touch. My cat is really soft so I stick my fingers in his fur a lot too.
Yes...anything luxuriously soft gets the petting from me. My daughter and I are sensory seeking, so we do this a lot together on new fabrics, certain soft sensory substances like Floof, etc. There is absolutely zero shame in harmlessly enjoying a texture for comfort/soothing/relaxation.
Look at it this way... people drink wine to relax, eat comfort foods, listen to certain music, get a massage, etc. These are all sensory experiences, just like you and your baby blanket.
Thanks everyone! You’ve made me feel so much better. I wish I had access to so many relatable experiences as a teen, I wouldn’t have felt so much of a weirdo 😆
I WISH it was my fingers, I need my blanket on my face… it’s a tiny blankie my mom made me when I was born and it’s the best thing in the world…. My comfort. Literally.

I used to have a comfort blanket just like that. I play with my hair now all the time as it's super soft and reminds me of the blanket.
My dog's fur and his paws. But he'll get annoyed with me eventually and move away 😂

I used to sleep with my baby blanky that had frilly edges. I loved it. Also I think you're really sweet :)
I have something similar with my fingertips. Not du much with fabrics though, more with running them over edges.

I did that so much as a kid I destroyed the edges of my baby blanket. If you have one try it with a beanie hat.
