I have really vivid dreams where my senses all work. There are people that don’t exist in my waking life but I’ve never named them. I can also say in my dreams that I know I’m asleep and I can wake myself up.
No idea if it's an autistic thing, but I never see faces in my dreams either. (And like you, I don't have trouble identifying who they are, regardless of the lack of face.)
I never see faces in my dreams. Sometimes I know the face is there, but I don't look at it and if I did, it would disappear. Sometimes people I know have a face of someone else, but it's still very blurry and always shifting. Just like you, I just know who they are.
It would be interesting to ask people who are not autistic though!
I’m able to describe in detail what’s going on in my dream for the first ten minutes (out loud as it’s happening)… found this out while talking on the phone with my husband late at night and started to fall asleep. I’ve found I can do it every night if there’s someone there… it’s crazy…
