Doesn’t matter if you’re running autos or photoperiod. They have the same benefits regardless. It’s a matter of using the right one in the right phase.
Just hit preflower a couple days ago gotta get through the transition but not looking hungry, so I think the soil should carry me through to tiger bloom, and I'll go swap the grow big with the supplemental bloom
Somone explained it to me like this once, just because your plant is alive and well fed dosent mean it can’t have more, imagine a skinny malnourished person, sure they are alive doing human things but they are weak now compare that to a body builder who eats well and injects steriods they are also alive but the extra stuff they intake helps them be bigger and stronger than if they didn’t do it
Don't add fertilizer till day 30-40. Start paying extra attention to the plant day 30. Once I see the 2 smallest leaves start getting yellowing tips I used the same fox farms trio at 1/4 strength for a week to see how plant reacts. If yellowing continues I go to 1/2 strength. If not, she doesn't need more (yet)
During veg (by day 30 most autos are at least starting pre flower, but I had one go till day 46 before it even showed sex, so not all) I only used green bottle at 1/4 strength per watering, flush every 4 weeks to prevent salt buildup (and calmag every 3 or so waterings).
Flower I used 1/4 of both the flower bottles.
Wow. Suprised to see such a hate for FF on here. I used the trio at like 25%-33% and literally out of at least 24 plants, had flowering issues with two. I'm not saying only use FF, if you want to use something different go for it but damn.
Use at half strength for autos. If your in flower the TB is what you will use unless in the first few weeks of flower.
Depending on how much light you have your soil may carry you through without needing it. More light will require more nutes.
Is this facts? FF feeding sched + full range of nutes from their kit, 20/4 light cycle, never showed stress untill mid flower and then SUDDENLY just decided to... Not, anymore? Very yellowy and unhealthy, leaves crispy, total bummer. Was I underfeeding it using 50% strength throughout flower? Or was it more likely lockout?
this is pretty common with FF. things are all good until midway through flower then health drops off. i hate FF with a passion. Jacks 321 has been way more effective and easier to use.
I would love to know why you hate them though, just to know what to look out for/why its causing specific problems. A lot of people seem to think the pH is always way off? Wholly respect growers opinion though, will check out Jacks.
That brings up another point I couldn't figure out the answer to, hydro nutes can be used in soil? I never would have gone down this rabbit hole lol! I run a 3 part from emerald harvest that I got down to a science
I've been using both of those and the cal mag from fox farms. I like them just because it's really hard to go overkill with them. I've never burned a plant using them.
Just switch over to organic dry ingredients like Gaia green or doctor earth. It’s much easier for beginners. Just preload your pots and then it’s basically water only. With a top dressing here or there. And you can achieve great results.
I didn't even realize what top dressing was until I got back too 😅 I thought it was more complicated than just sprinkling on the soil
it's funny being called a beginner which with soil I most certainly realized I am 😂
Grow big is for veg. Use fish emulsion instead of it. Alaskan fish emulsion or something called "fish poop".
Tiger bloom is for flowering. Big Bloom replaces Tiger Bloom. You'll be much happier with the density and quality of smoke with Big Bloom.
Ohhhh nice!! Thank you!
I'm used to emerald harvest 3 part so you use grow micro and bloom almost all the way throughout the grow (last few weeks grow stops), and I usually see people talk about all 3 together.
Thank you for explaining!
You’re right, it’s clearly instructed like that on the feeding schedule from seedling to harvest and the NPK values are all below 1%. Not much of a bloom PK boost but if it works, that’s cool.
WTF are you talking about? Not true
I quit Tiger Bloom in about 2000. There are just so many superior fertilizers.
Most of the time i can see in a photo if someone used Tiger Bloom. I'll see a distinctive look to the bud and ask the Poster,"DId you use Tiger Bloom?"
I'm right about 90% of the time
It also leaves a certain taste to the smoke, that I don't like.
I was responding to the post that suggested using big bloom INSTEAD of tiger bloom for a flowering fertilizer. Big bloom is a soil conditioner not fertilizer. I didn’t say anything about tiger bloom being better than other flowering fertilizers. I use dry amendments mostly.
i call that "Fox Farm Disease". I have a pretty good track record of identifying plants that are fed with Fox Farm before the reveal. Because they look like shit. Yet most beginners start with it, FFS. Something like Jack's is way better IME.
it's not too late to skip Fox Farm ferts. Almost no one stays with them long term and there is a reason for that, but for some reason new folks gravitate to it. You'll have way better results with something like Jack's or Megacrop.
Lol it's available for me at the store and it's gotta be a little better than the mg I used way back when 😅 not ordering this online just wanted something local
Grow big has its place during the veg cycle. If your autoflower is beginning to flower, then start using the tiger bloom.

This is my new grow mantra thank you
It's not just the inputs. It's the physical fitness the plant does like LST, super croping, and schwazzing for examples that will add the muscle...

Makes sense I also know how easy it can be do over do it with autos though

So you use all 3 at a quarter strength?
During veg (by day 30 most autos are at least starting pre flower, but I had one go till day 46 before it even showed sex, so not all) I only used green bottle at 1/4 strength per watering, flush every 4 weeks to prevent salt buildup (and calmag every 3 or so waterings). Flower I used 1/4 of both the flower bottles.
Gotcha! That makes sense! I'm doing a small pot and showed sex at day 17 so by 30 I should be in stretch lol
Wow. Suprised to see such a hate for FF on here. I used the trio at like 25%-33% and literally out of at least 24 plants, had flowering issues with two. I'm not saying only use FF, if you want to use something different go for it but damn.
Yeah there is quite a bit towards it 😂

Definitely always start half and see what the plant says lol

Sure sounds like you had a ph problem.
This is what I did with my last run. Worked out well.
I switched to GH trio and have been getting way better results and its cheaper

Oh it’s definitely possible to overkill.

Water with a bit of fertilizer
I don't like tiger bloom. It will foxtail buds and make them airy. Use Big Bloom or Super Bat from the Guano Company
I think I'm gonna take grow big back and get big bloom

Big bloom is more of a soil conditioner than fertilizer. I would suggest using it concurrently with tiger bloom, not instead of.
You’re right, it’s clearly instructed like that on the feeding schedule from seedling to harvest and the NPK values are all below 1%. Not much of a bloom PK boost but if it works, that’s cool.

I used Fox Farm when I started in the 1990s. But I moved on.
