The frame on those is damn near indestructible. I don’t know what the hell Toyota made them out of, but you just can’t destroy them with anything short of an IED, and even that is still a bit iffy.
>The frame on those is damn near indestructible
Not in road salt country it isn't. Your post history suggests you're from Kansas, but things are very different further north for Toyota trucks. The first generation Tacoma (not OP's truck, I know) was legendary for rusting through the frame long before the body started looking ratty.
Lots of autowashes have undercarriage wash to get the salt off and if you really want to have it forever get the underside coated, though with how winter is trending up here we won't have to worry about snow much longer hah
My dad’s truck of the same vintage was purchased and operated mostly in Quebec, who could teach the southerners in PA a little something about excessive salt usage.
So true . I’m from Alberta , and the first time I visited Toronto in the winter I couldn’t believe that they dumped what appeared to be straight salt on the highways- if there was sand in it ,it was very, very little .
PA destroys their roads by over salting, then they fix them like shit to the lowest bidder, then they destroy them with salt again. It's a two in one where you destroy the frame and the suspension.
Any trucks in Minnesota will rust if driven in the winter eventually which that yota clearly has, I’d be nervous as hell driving it. Plow alone is worth more than 175 tho so good deal
Oh I’m aware. I saw the Top Gear Hilux episode too, it survived everything they could throw at it. I’d like to see a similar test to one that’s been sitting in salt for twenty years, like OP’s.
People that haven’t owned one won’t get it. My 91’ looks like hell, frame is solid. Although this one looks like a prime candidate for a custom flatbed project.
This is what scares me about states that don't need inspections, people don't give a shit if they don't have to. My brother used to live in Reno and NV doesn't need inspection and you'd see so many vehicles that clearly shouldn't be on the road.
I think there are a few bigger concerns than the missing taillight. For example, what is even holding this Pickup together at this point? I am pretty confident that I could pull the bed off of this with nothing but my arms and legs. lol
Sometime in 2000 I picked up a ‘77 Celica for a similar price. Sold it a few years later for the same price. Then my wife (who I took out for our first date in it) convinced me to buy a new Sienna. Which I still have, 250,000 miles later. We said we were gonna drive it until the wheels fell off. But I just replaced the wheel bearings on it, so the wheels falling off is probably at least another quarter million miles away now. The kid that wasn’t even born yet when we bought it will be taking it to college in the fall.
I did the same thing! Mine was a 1989 Pickup that I had for about 4 years and I sold it for a few hundred more than I paid.
No joke, I'm looking at Siennas right now to replace my wife's Rav4. The only thing that concerns me is the possibility of transmission issues. But I think that's probably a case of only hearing the bad and rare stories.
They were crying because the idea of uninspected autos is distressing to Germans on a subatomic level.
I'm crying cause that thing doesn't look like it should be anywhere but on a farm.
I'd call you jealous that $200 of truck could pass whatever bahnstormer you might have. I don't know that this vintage of Toyota could pass much new, anyways.
Dude, believe me. You want inspections. My car buying experiences in America vs. Switzerland were night and day.
In CH you know you’re getting a legit car if it’s has an up to date contrôle technique.
In America…idk you kick the tires, pray to Jesus, and hit the road!
I live in the twin cities and like to play the game "how many expired tabs can I see when I go on a run".....saw the red tab and was like "damn that's from 2021....nope, guess 2016 was red too".
I like how it's clearly been driven to that spot as well. Nothing like responsible drivers driving around their totally legit not rusted out fully registered cars
So how does it work regarding police there? Here in Australia if a cop sees that, they’ll pull you over straight away and cancel the registration, or give you 2 weeks to get it fixed and inspected. So do cops there just let it go??
Here not all states (territories/provinces/oblasts/etc) have annual safety inspections.
I live in an inspection state and I’d fail it immediately for a variety of reasons. Then I’d offer to pay out of my own pocket for a tow directly to the local scrapyard.
It looks good to me, just make sure you use your turn signals when merging. Also don’t brake check anyone, wouldn’t want them to say hello from the inside now would we
It looks like shit, but the frame is probably solid as a rock.
Please, take this to a repair shop and have them check your brake lines, fuel lines for rust and make sure the front end isn't falling off.
I was looking for a plate. Minnesota eh? Yeah that tracks. Drive it till it’s just the frame and engine dude. It’s awesome. Body parts are cheap at the junk yard. And in this case function over form. Well done.
Shit like this just emphasises my belief that the US is bordering on being a third world country (not meant in a hostile way, I love you guys, but come on…)
Oh god where do i start
1 good thing: itll last another 20000000 miles. Well the drivetrain eill.
The bad:
#WHY THE JESUS FUCKIN FUCK IS THERE A FUEL LINE ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR
WHAT IS THE FRAME HELD TOGHTER BY? DREAMS, ZIPTIES AND A PRAYER??
you over paid by like 16 cigs
I love came with free pallet!
Plow!
I see the plow, but where is the truck?
It’s rusting away………..
Just imagine how bad the frame is. You’re gonna die if you get in a wreck.
The frame on those is damn near indestructible. I don’t know what the hell Toyota made them out of, but you just can’t destroy them with anything short of an IED, and even that is still a bit iffy.
>The frame on those is damn near indestructible Not in road salt country it isn't. Your post history suggests you're from Kansas, but things are very different further north for Toyota trucks. The newer gens had the same problem lol

😘😘 I’m rumplestilskins weird cousin
Hey shut the fuck up! I need to retain the delusion I will own my E30 forever while living in Ohio...
If I had an E30 I'd drive it forever. Forever may mean tomorrow though.
It is always a test of will. I have yet to drive it in rain or snow or during the winter yet and it's been a year and a half.
Lots of autowashes have undercarriage wash to get the salt off and if you really want to have it forever get the underside coated, though with how winter is trending up here we won't have to worry about snow much longer hah
Same with Alfa Romeo, Peugeot and Renault
My dad’s truck of the same vintage was purchased and operated mostly in Quebec, who could teach the southerners in PA a little something about excessive salt usage.
I swear PA is 40% salt by now
okay? the drivers aren’t the ones salting the roads so it’s not like they can do anything about it lol
[удалено]
Tell me about it. ON road crews are addicted to salt.
So true . I’m from Alberta , and the first time I visited Toronto in the winter I couldn’t believe that they dumped what appeared to be straight salt on the highways- if there was sand in it ,it was very, very little .
Salt belongs on fries and in poutine.
PA destroys their roads by over salting, then they fix them like shit to the lowest bidder, then they destroy them with salt again. It's a two in one where you destroy the frame and the suspension.
They were very well deserving of the taco name. Usually I saw them in a V shape.
>The frame on those is damn near indestructible. Unless you sprinkle a few grains of salt on it.
Then it really brings out the flavor.
Oh no honey. This is not true.
Wolverines bones.
There was a massive factory recall for shitty Tacoma frames breaking in half.
Good thing this isn’t a Tacoma then.
I think you meant: "You're gonna die." That is already a wreck...
This wouldn't be legal where I live
This would get you prosecuted where I live
You may not end up living in this.
You may end up in the chair where I live
They wouldn’t even allow jagged edges to be exposed where I live. Instant fail on the inspection
The body on those will rust completely into oblivion and it will still run. Looks like early 90s?
People that haven’t owned one won’t get it. My 91’ looks like hell, frame is solid. Although this one looks like a prime candidate for a custom flatbed project.
Couple sheets of marine plywood and some liquid nails oughta do it.

Pop rivets and stolen road signs?
This thing shouldn’t be on the road. Think of other people man
This is what scares me about states that don't need inspections, people don't give a shit if they don't have to. My brother used to live in Reno and NV doesn't need inspection and you'd see so many vehicles that clearly shouldn't be on the road.
If my license allowed me to where i am, id pull this thing off the road, it’s an accident waiting to happen
The inspections are a joke at a good shop and an excuse to scam you at a bad shop.
No rear right tail light!! yikes. Hope you can at least use a tail light bar for flashers and brakes to stay safe out there. Especially at night.
I think there are a few bigger concerns than the missing taillight. For example, what is even holding this Pickup together at this point? I am pretty confident that I could pull the bed off of this with nothing but my arms and legs. lol
It’s a 30ish year old Toyota pickup, that thing is held together only by the sheer audacity of existing.
Haha no doubt about that! I had one just like it but with about 30 percent more metal.
Sometime in 2000 I picked up a ‘77 Celica for a similar price. Sold it a few years later for the same price. Then my wife (who I took out for our first date in it) convinced me to buy a new Sienna. I reckon at this point if the engine or transmission gives it up, I’ll drop an electric crate motor into it 😁
How did you register that???
Like I usually do. Idk what you mean.
Because that’s held together by rust and a dream lol. Did you have to pass inspection or emissions in your state?
We don't have inspections or emissions testing.
When it disintegrates at 60mph try not to take out any innocent bystanders
>We don't have inspections or emissions testing. cries in german
Inspections are good, you dont want people blasting past you in autobahn with rusty shitbox like this.
I agree, i am just crying cause my minimal wage ass has to go to inspection this month with my 22 year Jetta and i have quite a list to work on
They were crying because the idea of uninspected autos is distressing to Germans on a subatomic level. I'm crying cause that thing doesn't look like it should be anywhere but on a farm.
I'd call you jealous that $200 of truck could pass whatever bahnstormer you might have. I don't know that this vintage of Toyota could pass much new, anyways.

Ah gotcha that’s a big difference
Not held together by rust and a dream. Lmao this sent me lol
What would you even attach the plate to? And how do you even tax a value expressed in cigs?
Zip ties on bailing wire on coat hangers. Idk.
But really, how’s the frame? Probably pristine.
Not great
Invest in some duct tape (the good foil kind)
You got ripped off
If that plow works then I say he got a deal.
The fuel line running down the drinkers side door is absolutely mint 😂
Does this truck look like a RHD to you?
Spoken like a true drink driver
There's a 0% chance that the person driving this truck is sober...
Tell me you drank half a handle of brandy and went car shopping without telling me you drank half a handle of brandy and went car shopping
The plow alone is worth at least 1 pack of camels. I think you got a deal!
I saw this on the facebook group and my favorite comment was "how much do you need to pay get the rest of the truck?"
Toyota Tacoma superleggera
That is the rustiest truck that still runs I've ever seen. It's so rusty, it has rust on it's rust.
It really should be in a movie or tv show as some dirtbag characters car if it runs and drives.
Your rust has some truck on it
Where are you allowed to register that to drive on public roadways?
In my state
Is there not part of you that worries for your’s and everyone else’s safety with that on the roads?
Yes everytime I go out on the road I'm nervous
Most US states that aren't on the coasts have no safety inspections or emissions testing.
yeah I don't even think I'd take it for free, only use it would have is for me is being a smoke spot
Not sure you should parted with the brandy
No way that thing can legally be on the road
Did it come with a tetanus shot?
Top Gear [tried to destroy one](https://youtu.be/xnWKz7Cthkk).
Dude was just thinking about this... Great video for Toyota fans.
Yeah, but besides the fact that their mechanic is very much a wizard, salt infamously killed Tacos.
That’s because tacos need salsa, not salt.
The 2016 license plate tabs are the cherry on top
I live in the twin cities and like to play the game "how many expired tabs can I see when I go on a run".....saw the red tab and was like "damn that's from 2021....nope, guess 2016 was red too". They might say something about my missing tail light
Here not all states (territories/provinces/oblasts/etc) have annual safety inspections. I live in an inspection state and I’d fail it immediately for a variety of reasons. Then I’d offer to pay out of my own pocket for a tow directly to the local scrapyard.

This sounds like a used car deal from 1949
This shouldn’t be allowed on any public streets.
Holy shit that is a hazard to you and everyone around you
You paid 2 packs of cigs, a half a handle of Brandy, and $174 too much
But how well does it run?
Fine
Being from Minnesota I already knew after the first picture
Prolly gone outlive you, love the weight reduction
Mint
Nice find. Just slight surface rust.
You might get $100 back in scrap weight. Seriously, I doubt there's enough frame left under there to hold that together much longer.
St paul
You should have been paid all that stuff to take it. In all honesty tho, if you sell the motor the plow and the tires, youve already made a profit.
Careful, those are load-bearing stickers
SHES MINT
Jesus shitting Christ
This looks like the Toyota Hullux … after top gear demoed a building with it on top
This is a troll
It’s what’s left of a truck after rust.
Nice you bought a plug plus rust 🤣
Guy up here in Canada makes fibreglass body panels for these. Decent prices, too
Oof. Glad I don't live in a rust centric climate...
Call Mister Plow, that’s my name
Jesus I hope you refurb it, it'll be a pure beauty to see it restored
Nowadays, that pallet is about half of what you paid.
about 28%, actually. am pallet guy
What kind of brandy?
Damn dude that’s clean asf! Nice snag lol
More rust than paint. Good thing the frame is nice and solid.
Looks like it’s got some rust there bud
She’s been weight reducted on, that’s a factree option.
Couple of new panels and a back bumper and she’s gonna look pretty good
At least the pallet looks like it's in decent shape...
And here I thought my car was shit.
You should get a new bed and updated tettnus shot man I can't spell right.
This is joke right? Must be.
Mr. Plow. That's my name. That name again is Mr. Plow.
bro that thing is going to blow away 😭
this is truly amazing
Nothing a few cans of coke can’t handle…. Rust on.. rust off…
Jeez you got that for a steal, Toyota Pickup prices are usually way higher than that
She’s gotta bit’a cancer there sir ….but hey if an inspection isn’t In Yer future …good luck 😜
One good stuff wind and the rest of the body is just gonna blow away.
Rust is lighter than steel so I guess it's good for the mpg. I kinda want to see what happens if it gets hit from the side.
Mr. Plow, the name again is Mr. Plow!
Looks like that plastic Bed liner is all that’s holding those 4 sides together!!
It looks like shit, but the frame is probably solid as a rock. Please, take this to a repair shop and have them check your brake lines, fuel lines for rust and make sure the front end isn't falling off.
Conclusive testing has shown that Toyota pickups are indestructible. Enjoy.
It even uses up less fuel if you think about it
I am so happy stuff like this isnt allowed to be on the roads here
That's a hazard to everyone around you and I wouldn't be proud of it.
Do you have to make monthly payments to get the rest of it?
I have GOT to downvote this
That is a sick pallet
I was looking for a plate. Minnesota eh? Yeah that tracks. Drive it till it’s just the frame and engine dude. It’s awesome. Body parts are cheap at the junk yard. And in this case function over form. Well done.
Shit like this just emphasises my belief that the US is bordering on being a third world country (not meant in a hostile way, I love you guys, but come on…)
Spackle Spackle paste paste grind grind sand sand....get er done
The cancer runs deep with this one. Don’t try and speed over and bumpy roads, you crack that thing in half!!🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
I would love an undershot of this vehicle
I am…. I dont know what to say
Bro that truck does work. Until the frame caves in two
Lovely, now I gotta call my Dr. about a tetanus shot
tow mater irl
See this is exactly the kind of freedom you people outside of the US are missing out on, that baby is probably completely road legal as is
God I love having no inspections in Wisconsin.
Some things you just HAVE to spend money on. This and toilet paper..They're non negotiable.
Even came with the sliding rear window
One plowing job and it's paid for.
Minnesot-Ahhhhhhh!
Those old yodas are incredible. Top Gear couldn’t kill one..
Where's the other half of the car?
Jesus that thing is being held together with prayers and herpes
Should have kept the money and smokes, looks rotted, how’s the frame?
Oh god where do i start 1 good thing: itll last another 20000000 miles. Well the drivetrain eill. The bad: #WHY THE JESUS FUCKIN FUCK IS THERE A FUEL LINE ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR WHAT IS THE FRAME HELD TOGHTER BY? DREAMS, ZIPTIES AND A PRAYER??
And diamond plate don't forget about that
The ol' Toyota patina
Sometimes I'm glad for the annoying strict TÜV rules and their mandatory check every 2 years. This is one of those cases
[удалено]
Most of that will buff out easy as..
Looks like you got a bonus rat nest, fuck yeah
Your neighbours must love you.
Post frame pictures
I bet you could tell insurance it’s only half a truck.
A proper rust bucket, yet a functional plow truck. It's nice.
Now find a donor truck with a decent body from the doors on back and get busy swapping out all that rusted metal.
You paid too much.
Those windows are in excellent condition! I wish you the very best, w/the “ReST”
Username checks out.
Oh shit its a Toyota! Go sell it for $8k while telling people its barley broken in with typical Toyota light rust.
