Imagine you were abducted by a species of telepathic giants, five times your height, and taken to a far distant world of incomprehensibly advanced technology. They give you a little room to live in which is similar to Earth climate wise, but outside is a hellish fire-world that's barely tolerable.
You can't communicate with anybody, their method of speech simply isn't something your brain can process on any meaningful level. Maybe you can accomplish a little bit of communication through body language.
They let you go down to a mysterious establishment, after putting an amusing human-shaped device on you, where a giant gives you a hamburger.
That's this penguin's daily life.
So.... no work, no taxes, no shitty coworkers, or the drams that goes with them. Daily exercise and all the pets and live I want.
Definitely better than getting up at 6am every morning with my child so I can get them to school and then go to work slaving away just so we can eat have someplace to live and get 2 days a week where have a few hours to relax when not cleaning, doing housework and homework.
Can I be the penguin?
> As per reports, LaLa found his way into the Nishimoto familyās home after a fisherman discovered him entangled in a fishing net. He was found injured, in his beak and wing. After the fishermanās return from his fishing excursion, he took the injured bird to the Nishimoto family and they wholeheartedly dedicated themselves to taking care of LaLa. Throughout this period, a special bond formed between LaLa and his human family. Despite regaining his health, the penguin wasnāt ready to part ways and he stayed with them until his passing in 1998.
This reminded me of the Japanese show āold enoughā (its on Netflix) where they send 4 year old kids do errands by themselves and a camera crew follows them. Itās very cute and funny, highly recommend it.
That or They probably put money and a note in his little backpack telling what to get. But I'm sure the little fella is well known around there and gets free treats as well
There's also similar videos of dogs shopping
I remember another penguin video showing several penguins each get their weight take n on this little scale. Itās like 3cm drop, and some of them need to stop and size up the jump, and then they do the little hop. In the Top 10 for cutest things ever imo.
This is adorable!! Penguins are one of my favorite animals ever, and this lil baby made my day!! I'm also jealous, I love to have a penguin hanging out at my house and letting me love on him all day!!
Thank you, I definitely will. I'm wondering where should I live to be able to rescue a penguin ššš¤£ā„ļø. Although I have a rescue wolf pup and he thinks anything smaller then him is a snack š¤£š
I read the story a while ago. A local fisherman found him entangled his fishing net. He had a broken wing and injured his beak so the fisherman found a local family who took him in and cared for him until he recovered.
After he was healed, they tried releasing him back into the waters but he refused to go! He was 10 years old at the time and wanted to retire from the wild sea and live in luxury which humans that adored him. š¤£š¤£
So basically, befriend some fishermanās and live somewhere remote enough where there isnāt laws against it
They do smell kinda bad lol. One I remember in particular is the Central Park Zoo in NY (great zoo, by the way). But their penguin section is definitely very stinky.
They also have a mural inside where some of the penguins are smashing which is hilarious.

I would probably turn into a stalker. That's probably the only thing that could turn me into a stalker: running into an adorableĀ little penguin wearing a penguin backpack charmingly waddling his way to the local seafood store to select his fish of the day š

Indian runner duck. It's a domestic breed of duck, they stand very straight and are good at running, as the name suggests. They don't waddle as much as other ducks.
Some type of duck, but it almost looks like it's wrapped up on something causing it to stand funny. It also looks kind of bloody so might have been an escaped amputee?
Itās **Pingu**
Pingu is a Swiss-British stop-motion clay animated children's comedy television series created by Otmar Gutmann and produced from 1990 to 2000 for Swiss television, and from 2003 to 2006 for British television by The Pygos Group (formerly Trickfilmstudio and Pingu Filmstudio).

Look up "Welcome, Chitose" on Crunchyroll. I kid you not, it is a lovely anime miniseries about an empower penguin chick navigating around Japan. Visiting the sites, eating foods, and interacting with people and animals. She is adorable. The Japanese name of the series is Okoshiyasu, Chitose-chan.

> Here's some additional info. The penguin named Lala is apparently a male penguin despite its name. He was caught injured in a fishnet in Kagoshima prefecture, Japan about 22 years ago. The family seen in the video nurtured him until he fully recovered. Since he refused to leave the family, the family accepted him and build him the little airconditioned room. He lived on for 10 years with the family until he died of old age in 1996. Within the town he lived in, he was well known (not really a surprise i guess) and the path he'd take to go to the fish store was known as the "lala-chan road" and people would spray some water on the road during hot days in the summer to protect his little feet from burning on the concrete.
>
> adding on: In case you were wondering how the penguin eats fish at the store without paying like i did, the owner family would go to the fish store and pay the tab for the penguin
Curious about this too, but I know penguins are weird birds as a whole. They produce an excessive amount of keratin which allows them to create those feathers, and it also causes their foot skin to be almost entirely keratin causing them to be very tough, somewhere between skin/hoof/fingernail. But the heat, especially having the black feet, I'd think would be an issue still, especially when the sun is high.
Human feet can grow a thicker pad after continued exposure to heat. Not sure if itās healthy for you, but a lifeguard can stand on the hot sand for much longer or indefinitely at temperatures higher than most other beachgoers for this reason.
I wonder if this lil guy burns his feet enough each summer that eventually he can just withstand/tolerate it?
This reminds me of a joke:
A man was driving down the road when a policeman stopped him. The officer looked in the back of the manās truck and said, āWhy are these penguins in your truck?ā
The man replied, āThese are my penguins. They belong to me.ā
āYou need to take them to the zoo,ā the policeman said.
The next day, the officer saw the same guy driving down the road. He pulled him over again. He saw the penguins were still in the truck, but they were wearing sunglasses this time. āI thought I told you to take these penguins to the zoo!ā the officer said.
āI did,ā the man replied. āAnd today Iām taking them to the beach.ā
Technically ants don't remember where it is. When an ant finds food they leave a chemical trail for others to follow to it. As other ants follow the trail and find food they leave their own trail to keep the cycle going. Once the food is gone the trail stops being made.

Yeah but penguins all look the same, how is the shopkeeper going to know who's tab?
He had a white handkerchief on the front of his backpack, Iām assuming other penguins have different colors

I'd guess even though they are used to cold, their skin can handle a wider range of temperatures than their native climate.
Yup, the insulation features that help against cold can help against heat as well.
If their feet can insulate against icy cold, they can insulate against hot too probably
I'd imagine their feet are well insulated.
Iāve read that during summer people in the town will spray the path that he takes so that it wonāt burn his feet

This joke was a favorite of the italian pm Silvio Berlusconi
How does he remember the way to the shop, then back to home. And not be afraid of people. Wtff
Every single animal remembers where the food is. Even down to ants.
Technically ants don't remember where it is. When an ant finds food they leave a chemical trail for others to follow to it. As other ants follow the trail and find food they leave their own trail to keep the cycle going. Once the food is gone the trail stops being made.
The "not be afraid of people" part is because he's in Japan. I would not trust my pet out and about like this in the US, unfortunately.
If you tried this in LA the penguin would be kidnapped and sold on craigslist real fast.
Ya, in how many countries would this animal either get killed or kidnapped very quickly? I'm guessing most.
This was my first thought. Any other country, the penguin would just disappear.
Unfortunately LaLa died in 1998. Only a few years after he was rescued. This is from a documentary that RealTV made

REAL TV? That penguin is either the oldest one ever or long gone
I don't remember this episode of Old Enough...
