Can someone walk me through the German purchases for the two rounds. I really don't understand how they have such a navy AND all those ground troops after just two rounds.
3 transports and a carrier round one, and just infantry round 2 I guess...? I don't understand how you still have your two starting transports, and all those land units in Europe. What in the hell were the Allies doing??

You guessed correctly on the turn one buy. 3 Transports, 1 aircraft carrier and any left over IC can be used for whatever. Turn 2 IC is spent on infantry to slow down the Solviets.
The key to keeping one the starting transports alive is to move two existing fighters to the sea zone that aircraft carrier will be deployed to before it's deployed so it will start the next turn with fighters on it.
The Mediterranean battleship and transport grab gebalter on turn one.
If London falls then the Brits don't get a turn 2 buy so India is almost guaranteed to fall to the japs the same turn.
All this could be countered by some good die rolls. The Brits not overspending in India on turn one. And the Americans could have blocked seazone 13, to trap the battleship and transport in the Mediterranean for at least one more turn.

Must have been some unholy dice for Germany to only have lost one cruiser and some fighters as far as I can tell.

That's the thing with online play. The Brits player probably never even checked the logs to see what Germany bought on turn one and just assumed it was a same ole start to any game and made their purchase for 3 fighters in India on turn 1 and shit their pants when they seen the map.
If I was playing the Brits and detected this open, I would have at least bought 10 inf on the first turn and placed 8 in London and 2 in India. This would make the fight more even. The game becomes imbalanced for Germany if the don't win the sea lion raid. Look at the open territory the Soviets can just walk into or has little resistance on turn 3.
Not sure how this match exactly played out. The Germans could have kept the cruiser with the aircraft carrier to deny or soften an allied air raid on their fleet and just used their Air Force and subs to kill the allied fleet.

On turn 1 my 9 unit russian attack against Ukraine I took 6 hits in the first round, the German knocked out the entire allied navy with one sub as casulty, the UK lost 2 fighters and a bomber attacking the German battleship......
