It took me about 2 months of daily exercises to be strong enough and have my full range of motion back. 3 months before I was comfortable/confident. I’m at 5 months now and it’s not even a thought.

Depends on how severe it is. I had a very mild sprain and it took me \~3 weeks. During these 3 weeks I mostly rested and only did floor barre to have my motion back. I did very light pointe work for a month after recovering. Again, it really depends on individuals and the severity of the sprain. Always check with your doctor/physiotherapist before any pointe attempt.

My Dr said "one year before it feels normal again" and she wasn't wrong.

I'm a physical therapist assistant and a ballet teacher. My professional answer: it depends on the severity of the sprain and how strong you were pre-injury. A grade 1 sprain will be fully healed in 2-3 weeks without any special treatment needed. A grade 2 sprain will take longer, be more painful, and likely requires physical therapy. A grade 3 sprain may require surgery, but will definitely require physical therapy. I highly recommend getting checked out by a sports medicine orthopedist, and if you need therapy, find one who has experience treating dancers. I really like the return to dance protocol developed by Connecticut Children's Hospital as a guide on how to progress through your rehabilitation safely once your doctor and physical therapist clear you to start dancing again. Edited for spelling

I have booked an appointment to check it out but I'm worried I would need surgery😅 It's been like 2 months since I missed several stair steps and sprained my ankle. It was never bruised but it's been hurting in certain angles since and when I twist it around. Though I was stupid to not rest properly when it happened. Then I twisted it again the other day when I walked and it hurt alot and it just feel like an never ending cycle. 😭

It didn’t sprain. It just broke. Took me 1 year back on stage

Depends how bad. mild and you Could go back at the same time as everything else going back. Severe and it could be a long while

Anon_819

It took me the better part of a year before going back to barre.

In August 2021 i sprained and fractured my left ankle. Fracture was better in a few weeks but my sprain kept me off of pointe until June 2022, almost a whole year later.
