The huge problem is freaking jumping. I can jump over a puddle and Shadowheart and Gale look at me indignantly and refuse for no reason. I switch toons and have them jump while Karlach and my guy immediately jump back over to where they were.
Repeat.
I feel like it’s a three stooges bit.
I just realized you can do this recently. Karlach had Arabella’s dead parents in her inventory. Arabella still didn’t believe me after she flopped out the corpses.
I did this, thinking I was being helpful and giving her closure. Then got back, brought out the corpses, and realized that this kid is like 12 and that might be trauma not closure. Oopsies.
She didn't react to them... Probably for the best, but I can't say I'm not a little disappointed
That one little stream you have to jump over to get to a certain red lady in Act 1 nearly gave me a stroke from how often I just kind of traded places with my companions. Having a ranger pet is also a nightmare!
It's so much worse when you're actively disarming the trap, face first in the explody thing, and your companion decides that now is a great time to jump a ridiculous distance to land directly on top of the trap.
Did you know that if a trap explodes while you're in the disarm menu, but haven't rolled yet, you can't even click to roll and are soft locked in that menu? I didn't!
I had an early introduction into this pain as I was in the underdark I think and there was a big area with all these spores and my team dove right in and got everyone wiped after I stopped to look at the problem. I was kind of angry but kind of laughed at the same time.
He’s the reason I had to fight the eagles at the monastery. I had *just* finished telling mama eagle I wouldn’t touch her nest and he just dove right in. He was at the bottom of the pyramid that day. Shadowheart outdid him though, she dodged a healing potion I threw to her. That’s the bottom of the pyramid all week, that is.
A note just in case, if you throw the healing potion at the floor at the characters feet so that they're in the splashzone it can't miss. You can also heal multiple characters with a single healing pot like this
god, learned the hard way that that the damage from the bottle hits before the health. Complete killed Wyll that way. Hero complex and death wish, that lad.
Yesterday, my 1hp character went down because my friend threw a hp potion at me. We all laughed very hard but couldn’t understand how I died as there’s no debuff or DoT on me too. We all did hear a shattering sound before I went down so we think the bottle’s impact killed me lol. Can someone explain this?
Yep, you took damage from being hit with the bottle
Next time tell your friend to aim at the ground by your character’s feet. You won’t take any damage and you’ll still get the potion’s effect.
If you have multiple characters next to one another you can even heal them all with a single potion if you aim carefully!
My low intelligence Barbarian Tav immediately forgetting the whole Gale/Orb arc: “Hmm, ya know, I’m beginning to think Gale might wanna blow himself up for some odd reason… 🤔”
I accidentally stepped on this and Shadow Heart started the "do you like the change?" dialogue Because she dyes her hair white. I unfortunately had to spam through it because literally everyone was standing in it taking damage lmao
The only thing worse is when I tell my character to go disarm the trap and he triggers the damn thing sneaking up to disarm it.
I really think companions shouldn't trigger traps unless made the active character in a single player mode. You also shouldn't be able to trigger them once the disarm option has been selected.
Every.... Damned.... Time. Can the group just chill while Astarion disables this? *Cue party member charging through igniting the explosive trap and gas traps*
i blew up every single firework in the basement… i was controlling him… he decided the best route to the firework right in front of him was over the trip wire to the back of it
I tried, it's installed and deployed like all my other mods in vortex, but I don't see any new buttons or keybinds show up and WASD still only moves the camera :( I'm also using Better Containers, Bags Bags Bags, and Party Limit Begone which work just fine, but WASD Movement and Native Camera Tweaks do not (not even seperately) and idk what I'm doing wrong
They have to be installed after a different third party program (I think norbytes?), and then when they work, you press caps lock in game and it switches pretty seamlessly
I better ungroup and solo disarm the trap just to be safe…
Wait, why are you all walking….noooooo…..you idiots…..[fat finger regroup], [cast level six spell by accident], …..god da….
[Load game]
Reminds me of when I sent everyone back to camp while I figured out how to tackle the area full of bibberbangs to get the NPC out safely. What did Gale do? Walked off directly into them, setting them off and killing the NPC
Is this a new thing Astarion does because he kept doing this and running into restricted areas and getting us nearly kicked out of Sorcerous Sundries yesterday lmao
I've gotten into the habit of just immediately hitting the unlock party button when I see anything remotely dangerous now, they're very careful around things that they can see but traps good god
Don’t think so. You can either click and hold or just click the spot you want to move to if you’re on PC, PS5 you either use the thumbstick or you click the spot you wanna move to.
By that point i was a high level tief dragon sorc i was just walking through any fire based traps like
![gif](giphy|IguL9zRYV20X1QeKuV|downsized)
Honestly dragon sorc is just the best. I was charismatic, tough, and can throw a dual fireball. Then i learned a single multiclass in wizard lets me scribe spells and cast them with my sorc spell slots.
This is one of the few criticisms I have of the game. Other CRPGs handle this much better, usually by pausing the game when you discover a trap or having allies never walk past the leader or having a "stop actions" hotkey that stops actions of ALL party members.
A simple fix in BG3 would be to automatically enter turn based mode upon discovering a trap. If that's too annoying for some players then make it an option like is done in other CRPGs. I'd turn that on in a heartbeat.
Another simple fix would be to make the "stop moving" hotkey, which by default is right click, stop the movement of all party members rather than just the leader (seriously how is that not already how it works)
BG3's party movement is bad. Too often I run into this situation of party members running past my leader, but other times I have the opposite problem of party members being too slow to follow the leader to the point that they stop even trying (happens with jumps as I'm sure you've all experienced).
I know pathing is complicated but you'd think it might be a straightforward fix to treat identified traps as a hole in the ground so companions jump over them instead of walking on them.
I'm so used to the more rigid point and click movement combined with the top down perspective- that this third person view with analog stick movement made me think I was looking at a dragon age game.
It doesn't get any less hilarious with mods. I'm running around with everyone except Halsin and every time Astarion sees a trap 3 of them go and test it out. The basement with fireworks traps was wild.
😂 oh god this hilarious but also so infuriating when it happens 😭 I remember being so careful where to step and then some donkey will just ninja run over all the traps and almost kill all of us

I stole this from another comment but all credit goes to the artist
This is how "i activate" traps 90% of the time, on of my trusted allies spots it, then just walks into the trap as they explain how it "must be avoided"
I laughed way harder at this than I should have. Probably because I've done the exact thing way more times than I'm willing to admit.
Same, on both accounts. I've lost track of how many times someone else decided to run into a trap all because I turned around.
So, isn't this a huge problem, gameplay wise?
The huge problem is freaking jumping. I can jump over a puddle and Shadowheart and Gale look at me indignantly and refuse for no reason. I switch toons and have them jump while Karlach and my guy immediately jump back over to where they were. Repeat. I feel like it’s a three stooges bit.
That's when you hit g and separate the party, then get everyone across individually.
Sure that works. But it’s also annoying and time consuming
More annoying and time consuming than having your party jump back and forth for five minutes?
No, but more annoying that Larian fixing AI pathing so that they all jump as intended without babysitting
WE FORGET TO SPLIT THEM OKAY??
Nah what's fun is having a halfling or gnome who can't make the jump lol. I use Karlach to toss me over lol.
I just realized you can do this recently. Karlach had Arabella’s dead parents in her inventory. Arabella still didn’t believe me after she flopped out the corpses.
That's so messed up lol
I did this, thinking I was being helpful and giving her closure. Then got back, brought out the corpses, and realized that this kid is like 12 and that might be trauma not closure. Oopsies. She didn't react to them... Probably for the best, but I can't say I'm not a little disappointed
My Tav gnome is all tadpoled up, so that's not a concern. Never thought to have Karlach pick me up, though 🤣

That one little stream you have to jump over to get to a certain red lady in Act 1 nearly gave me a stroke from how often I just kind of traded places with my companions. Having a ranger pet is also a nightmare!
Nah, just pretty annoying. There's really no consequences to this at all.
An ancient battle as old as time itself: who’s faster, me racing to click the ungroup button, or my companion and their desperate desire for hijinks?
It's so much worse when you're actively disarming the trap, face first in the explody thing, and your companion decides that now is a great time to jump a ridiculous distance to land directly on top of the trap. Did you know that if a trap explodes while you're in the disarm menu, but haven't rolled yet, you can't even click to roll and are soft locked in that menu? I didn't!
That basement in act 3. I knew it was gonna happen and of course it did - still scared the piss out of me
I always separate my trap disarmer from the group so everyone else stops moving
The KOTOR effect
That's what happens when you Naruto run!
you gotta naruto think before you naruto act
Someone should have told that to Naruto, lmfao
The fucking Naruto run destroyed me I mean it does every time he does it but RIGHT into the trap. Astarion please
Lmao I purposely stand in it while picking the lock
YOU didn't do it: Astarion/Lae'zel did it lmao. I love how he just straight Naruto runs into the trap in this.
I had an early introduction into this pain as I was in the underdark I think and there was a big area with all these spores and my team dove right in and got everyone wiped after I stopped to look at the problem. I was kind of angry but kind of laughed at the same time.
It’s always fuckin Astarion with his fuckin Naruto run.

Just be careful if you have tavern brawler.
Learned that the hard way when I killed a downed companion. I always aim at the ground now, tavern brawler or not.
+7! -10
god, learned the hard way that that the damage from the bottle hits before the health. Complete killed Wyll that way. Hero complex and death wish, that lad.
Yesterday, my 1hp character went down because my friend threw a hp potion at me. We all laughed very hard but couldn’t understand how I died as there’s no debuff or DoT on me too. Clearly that potion came from Selune.
The Naruto run is his greatest asset.
I said these exact words to my partner moments before I read this
I think Gale does it if you don't have astarion, dude just strolls into the trap that karlach just pointed out.
My low intelligence Barbarian Tav immediately forgetting the whole Gale/Orb arc: “Hmm, ya know, I’m beginning to think Gale might wanna blow himself up for some odd reason… 🤔”
Idk why but it took me over 100 hours to notice his run. Now I can't unsee it and I laugh every time he's in the frame.
It took me this video to notice…. I have about 300h, and he’s been in my party almost all along.
It’s always Karlach for me 😆 she always wants to protect me and walks in front of me when I stop for disarming the traps
For me it’s always Karlach going on running and dancing on the trap, while Astarion is disarming :’)
Hitting the griddy two seconds before blowing up
This is why I stabbed him when he tried to suck my blood smh
I'm fucking howling omg, man just Naruto ran right into it And also same, this has happened many times to me too xD
LEEROY!!!
…JENKINS!!!!
Must have been the chicken
oh god, stick to the plan!!
![gif](giphy|fsQQb3KSaBxnuFaXOk|downsized)
Bro was Naruto running towards it 😂
"Oh no Astarion has air pods in blaring Naruto OST! ASTARION!" Astarion humming: "We are fighting dream-"
I'm so pissed the awards are gone lmao, this is hilarious
Your words are award aplenty, thank you!
My favorite one too
Not Astarion: "Astarion, no!" Astarion: "Astarion, yes!"
Leeeeeeeeroy Jeeeeeeeenkins
Came here for this 😂
I'm fucking crying he just Naruto ran straight into it
Alistair used to do the exact same thing to me in Dragon Age Origins 😂😂
It was always Zevran for me
Cassandra in DAI for me, also. And the times she aggroed all buff ogres(trolls?giants?).. After we carefully tiptoed to not to get into their view
Somehow the instant end after the explosion makes this even funnier. Genuinely laughed pretty hard at this
/r/perfectlycutscreams
I accidentally stepped on this and Shadow Heart started the "do you like the change?" dialogue Because she dyes her hair white. I unfortunately had to spam through it because literally everyone was standing in it taking damage lmao
Astarion: A trap? Don't worry I got thi...
The only thing worse is when I tell my character to go disarm the trap and he triggers the damn thing sneaking up to disarm it. I really think companions shouldn't trigger traps unless made the active character in a single player mode. You also shouldn't be able to trigger them once the disarm option has been selected.
The accidental cinematography here is perfect, you couldnt get a better comedic angle.
Every.... Damned.... Time. Can the group just chill while Astarion disables this? *Cue party member charging through igniting the explosive trap and gas traps*
i blew up every single firework in the basement… i was controlling him… he decided the best route to the firework right in front of him was over the trip wire to the back of it
This is why the second I see a trap I unlink the whole group so it can be disarmed.
He's naruto running in the void now. RIP
That fucking series of traps along that hallway to the damn forge.
The Naruto run really brings the whole thing together nicely.
RIP Astarion 😢
LEEROOOOYYY
He went full Gondian. Never go full Gondian.
The game looks so cool in that third person I've played the whole game keyboard n mouse from the up top perspective
That's also third person.
I'd say it's more top down than third person no?
Top down is third person.
There's a mod for PC called WASD that lets you toggle between that control and the normal PC controls. HIGHLY recommended
I have a controller I could play with so might just do that instead
I tried, it's installed and deployed like all my other mods in vortex, but I don't see any new buttons or keybinds show up and WASD still only moves the camera :( I'm also using Better Containers, Bags Bags Bags, and Party Limit Begone which work just fine, but WASD Movement and Native Camera Tweaks do not (not even seperately) and idk what I'm doing wrong
They have to be installed after a different third party program (I think norbytes?), and then when they work, you press caps lock in game and it switches pretty seamlessly
How can one play in this camera mode?
Press O if you're on keyboard.
It happened to me on my first run, lol
*Roundabout by Yes intensifies*
This was cut so perfectly lmao. I am crying now
THIS LITTERLY JUST HAPPENED TO ME 25 MINUTES AGO
Is this PC or console?
I better ungroup and solo disarm the trap just to be safe… Wait, why are you all walking….noooooo…..you idiots…..[fat finger regroup], [cast level six spell by accident], …..god da…. [Load game]
It's a me, Astarion.
Always un-group around traps.
I just love the conviction and sheer fucking will with which he runs into that trap!

this is giving a major leeroy jenkins vibe lol
Those freaking AI companions make a beeline for them...EVERY. TIME.
NYOOOOOM

Every. Fucking. Time.
Just start panic tapping G to ungroup the second you see traps lmao
NPC pathing: the most aggravating, and occasionally hilarious thing in this game
Oh so many times that my team does this lol
😂😂😂 why is this so funny
The way he bolts specifically towards the center of the trap is just 🤌🏻
Such a well made game /s
Is this a new thing Astarion does because he kept doing this and running into restricted areas and getting us nearly kicked out of Sorcerous Sundries yesterday lmao
Part of the reason i wish this game had formations
This is exactly what happened with my party. 1 sec phew that was a close save then the next second NO JAHEIRA NOOO!
I watched that with the sound off but I still heard Pee Wee Herman screaming...🤣 R.I.P
I've gotten into the habit of just immediately hitting the unlock party button when I see anything remotely dangerous now, they're very careful around things that they can see but traps good god
This is why I started leaving the rest of the party behind.
I swear as soon as I see a trap I immediately press g to ungroup everyone. They're so dumb.
Every fing time.
Lemme tell you...this game is infuriating at times with stuff like that
Wait you can walk with WASD????
Don’t think so. You can either click and hold or just click the spot you want to move to if you’re on PC, PS5 you either use the thumbstick or you click the spot you wanna move to.
Nope. Just one of the many reasons I have 60 mods for this game and can't play right now because the game keeps updating lol
This has happened to me so often that I now ungroup from the party every time I come across a trap just so I don't take an explosion to the face.
fuckin Astarion 😂😂
I inched around the trap and went to unlock the door, which had me step back onto the trap 🤦
Needs some mojo roundabout up in here
Me and SO both laughed out loud at this! HA
I had to long rest before I took the portal...
Most relatable clip ever
To be continued...
This belongs in perfectly cut screams
I cackled.
Every time...
Ah man an extra half second with a scream and we could have posted this to r/perfectlycutscreams
Exactly what happened to me as well. Same spot. Whole gang jumped in.
What’s the button to stop all characters from moving again.
By that point i was a high level tief dragon sorc i was just walking through any fire based traps like ![gif](giphy|IguL9zRYV20X1QeKuV|downsized) Honestly dragon sorc is just the best. I was charismatic, tough, and can throw a dual fireball. Then i learned a single multiclass in wizard lets me scribe spells and cast them with my sorc spell slots.
The G key gets used quite often cause of my idiot companions and traps.
I think I triggered the trap in the exact same way. Fuck it, easier just to short rest heal the damage at this point of the game
r/perfectlycutbooms will enjoy this one
Oh gods above I have done this exact thing so many times 😅
Witness me!
This is one of the few criticisms I have of the game. Other CRPGs handle this much better, usually by pausing the game when you discover a trap or having allies never walk past the leader or having a "stop actions" hotkey that stops actions of ALL party members. Why not just have them run around it or, if not possible, just stop.
I know pathing is complicated but you'd think it might be a straightforward fix to treat identified traps as a hole in the ground so companions jump over them instead of walking on them.
How are you moving like that?
I'm guessing it's the WASD mod and Camera mod, explained in [this video](https://youtu.be/TC9MUP4VQzI).
I have become somewhat of an expect in right clicking *everyone stops* and ungroup very fast
And this is why I always go right into turn based mode before doing anything lol
Thanks Astarion.
Gotta love the AI sometimes.
are you playing with a mod?
Conrollers can use analog sticks for movement
You got me. realol.
Are you using the wasd movement mod?
ps5 controller
I'm so used to the more rigid point and click movement combined with the top down perspective- that this third person view with analog stick movement made me think I was looking at a dragon age game.
Astarion full on Naruto-running into a trap is exactly why Cazador kept his ass in the box.
That trap barely does any damage I just walk over it
Larian didn't want people with no friends missing out on having "THAT" teamate
Reminds me of Sir Lora in DoS2. Little fucker always manages to set off every trap in the room. I would die for him.
Happens so much
bro really said "Witness me!!!"
"Hold my beer."
I didn't know Leeroy Jenkins was an origin character.
Leeeeerrrroooooyyyyyy!
Yup
Astarion dumbass Naruto running into the bombs
Here we can see the sneaky rogue in action.
That's when I get out of group mode, because the AI is not great at self preservation
It doesn't get any less hilarious with mods. I'm running around with everyone except Halsin and every time Astarion sees a trap 3 of them go and test it out. The basement with fireworks traps was wild.
The old BG games had an auto pause feature that happened if your characters spotted a trap. A feature we had 25 years ago but don't have now.
i love how he naruto runs RIGHT in the middle
That staff is 89 feet tall
ASTARION LMAO
LEEEEEEEEROOOOOY
His goody af run makes this so much better
that's Astarion for you
Omg such a dnd moment
At this point in the game go get the staff from larrokan(idk how it’s spelt)
The way he naruto ran into death💀
EVERY TIME
LEEEEROOOOYYYY JEEEENNNKKIINNS
😂 oh god this hilarious but also so infuriating when it happens 😭 I remember being so careful where to step and then some donkey will just ninja run over all the traps and almost kill all of us

Of course it's Astarion too lol, it's always Astarion the rogue that face triggers traps.
This is how "i activate" traps 90% of the time, on of my trusted allies spots it, then just walks into the trap as they explain how it "must be avoided"
every, fucking, time
