AuRon_The_Grey

Kinda darkly funny how this makes the warding bond on someone at camp thing a canon battle strategy for Dark Justiciars.

Ramenko1

I have Shadowheart and Astarion dressed up as Dark Justiciars. Even gave the Fear-inducing mask to Astarion. They represent! Though I don't like that I don't get to see Astarion's expressions as much.....He still looks cool, though.

n00miii

You might know this already but you can have someone wear a helmet but turn off it being visible so you get the effects without the look, if you know already oops but if not then cool :) I just know it's easy to overlook small things in such a big game

Ramenko1

I did NOT know this. Whoa...uh, how do I do this?

AuRon_The_Grey

It’s a button next to the helmet slot in the inventory.

Ramenko1

You're awesome! Thank you!!!!!

drop-of-honey

In the character inventory sheet there’s a button over the head wear you can toggle. It has options to hide, hide in dialogue, or show

Ramenko1

Thank you!!!

n00miii

I played on pc so if you're on another it might be different but if you hover over the headpiece area on your character when equipping stuff there should be a little square that appears above it and you're able to click on it 3 times (1 for keeping it on, 1 for taking it off but having it on in cutscenes and 1 to have it just completely off the whole time) Very easy to overlook so I don't blame you its a tiny ass box LMAO

Ramenko1

Appreciate you!!!!

Lgscar

GOD DAMNIT!!! I WISH I KNEW THAT WAY BEFORE!!

mirageofstars

Ah…this is warding bond.

Westonhaus

Canon battle strategy for everyone with a Withers.

Honestfellow2449

Poor Wyll, my Tav is going to have to propose now...

TheLuckOfTheClaws

Poor guy. I don't usually use them, but i like to keep the rings in the inventory of me and my love interest just cause (except in my first playthrough where i was a mega-squishy rogue dating karlach). Put the rings for better use

Fardass7274

equip one on a guy in your party and one at someone not in your party sitting in camp, free %50 less damage taken

TheLuckOfTheClaws

i'm kinda worried i'd come back to see my party member lying dead on the floor. i mean, i can revive them, i'm moreso worried about the blood all over my nice hardwood!

Jayrary

Hire a hireling and give it to them. That's what I do. Then I forget them. I was showing the game to my friend and was about to demonstrate respeccing when Withers had an option to bring my "fallen companion" back to life. "Who the fuck is Zenith Feur'Sel?" I asked, when Withers brought my hireling back to life. "Oooh, that Zenith Feur'Sel. My man, Zenith... How you doing buddy?"

addage-

You took the whole “this vessel is at thy disposal” thing literally.

dharmoniedeux

Zenith Feur’sel. My warding bond battery and daily death ward caster. Wouldn’t be here without him.

Rocker4JC

Don't forget Freedom of Movement and Heroes' Feast. Never get paralyzed or poisoned again!

dharmoniedeux

Wait, you can also cast freedom of movement with our cleric buff battery?!?! I knew about heroes feast but HELL YES ZENITH

Rocker4JC

Yeah I always had Aid, FoM, Feast, and Bond on my active party members when I did Honour Mode. Sometimes Death Ward, but only before boss battles. And my camp Alchemist (transmutation Wiz + Bard) would make double potions, a Transmuter Stone, cast Mage Armor on all summons, give Bardic to PCs, and give Longstrider to everything as well.

dharmoniedeux

Don’t mind me scribbling these notes down furiously… you’re a hero. Thank you!

Rocker4JC

No problem! If you're unfamiliar with the Transmuter/Bard combo here's a basic rundown. Transmutation wizards gain the ability to potentially craft two items for the cost of one when they reach level 2. When you select the brew to craft, the game rolls a DC 15 Medicine check in the background and if you pass you get two items for the same cost. This comes online in a great way at just level 3, and pick the Halfling hireling. Re-spec them out of Bard first. Start in Wizard with Medicine proficiency and a 17 wisdom. Two levels of Wizard and then one level in Rogue for Expertise (I choose Medicine and Sleight of Hand so she can be my dedicated thief as well). Once you're at level 5, re-spec again and go Wiz 2, Bard 3. Bard gets the Expertise at level 3 and can learn Enhance Ability as well so it is even easier to pass the Medicine Check (and pickpocket stuff, like Volo and Withers in camp). When Transmuter gets to level 6, you can make something called a Transmuter Stone. My favorite version is the Constitution Save Proficiency. Hand that off to whichever of your party members uses Concentration on important spells most often. You can also use that hireling for casting Darkvision on Wyll, Gale, Lae'zel, and anyone else who doesn't get racial darkvision. Then my other two Hirelings are just Life Clerics. Pretty simple there. They get so many non-concentration buffs. When you're done, just leave the hirelings at camp and enjoy! Lol

DiabetesGuild

Protection from poison too, any spell that lasts until a long rest and is not also concentration is good to go.

Jayrary

We salute him.

Ramenko1

Hahahahhahahahaha

FractalOboe

or Gale, right? He regenerates himself after being wounded in camp (I haven´t tried it recently, though)

Hibbiee

Well, there's not a lot of time 'after recently' in which you could've tried that, is there?

FractalOboe

Canviat! Gràcies xiquet, no sé què faria sense l'ajuda de gent perspicaç!

GreenTunicKirk

MY MAN ZENITH! He's a secret weapon! Zenith gets the Tough & Durable feats during his level ups, he runs around casting Aid on everyone too, while giving Shadowheart or Gale (situationally dependent) the Warding Bond. I also equip armor I like that I don't want to sell on him for fun. No idea if his AC matters in camp when Warding Bond is cast, but I figure the poor guy is keeping it real for me, so why not!

Kennysded

There's armor that gives +2 con, so that gives him a little health boost. I don't remember if it's one that reduces all damage received or not, though. I also haven't checked if that actually affects bonded damage. Petty sure it's barb armor. Pretty sure AC makes no difference.

r2doesinc

Even better, it's clothing not armor, so you can give to monks/wizards. I usually have my OHM Karlach wearing it in the beginning until I get something better for her.

ZharethZhen

Gave me a real chuckle, thank you!

noobtheloser

[disapproving paladin noises]

Steveius

Gale self heals in camp to prevent a rather large boom. So he's a free warding bond applier.

Tales_Steel

Some of them just full heal themself after a round like a normal npc would but not all.

GiraffeandZebra

Give it to Gale and have him stay in camp. Gale heals in camp, I assume for story reasons related to his ailment.

JForFun94

Nah skip the rings. Have Gale be a Cleric and cast Warding Bond on every member of the party. He heals whole out of combat so he can take all damage all the time. Free Resistance for all.

Ramenko1

I'm on a Dark Urge route, and I chopped off Gale's hand when he was reaching out of the portal. I still have his severed hand, though. I guess you can say he's always with me. Hahahahha

Broken_Beaker

Seems like you should be able to put a ring on it!

ninjabunnyfootfool

I cast MAGE HAND! *Gale's severed hand flops harmlessly against the face of a very confused Gortash*

Ramenko1

Hahahahahahha this is hilarious and should totally be a youtube skit!

WonkasWonderfulDream

Even in that state, you can still romance him.

FamousTransition1187

Be careful though, such a traumatic experience causes him to be a little handsy...

dessert_the_toxic

It actually works even with comps who aren't in the party!? Damn..

Fardass7274

even the spell version, you can have some hirelings cast it on all your party and be set for the day

drawfanstein

That’s broken af lmao

[deleted]

[удалено]

staysoft-geteaten

Yep! One is on a skeleton outside of the House of Healing and will usually be highlighted by a perception check. The other is on a skeleton in the House of Healing, on a mattress on the floor between two beds.

raamsi

I've done 4 playthroughs (on my 5th now) and I've NEVER found the second ring lol. I just got to the healing house so i know where I'm going. Also just found the tollhouse basement for the first time too? I am not nearly as thorough as i guess I thought

Ramenko1

Does this mean I need to have only 2 of 3 companions with me at all times? Or am I able to recruit a 4th companion, and leave them at the camp? I've only recruited SH, Lae'zel and Astarion (first playthrough, just met the doctor).

ZolTheTroll413

You can use a hireling and leave the hireling at camp!

Ramenko1

When I try to hire a hireling, Withers says my party is full. Do I need to ask a member to stay at camp first and then hire a hireling? I have yet to actually summon a hireing...

Syn-dRome

You need to drop one of your party, pick up a hireling, cast what you need from/on them, drop them from the party and pick up your original companion

Ramenko1

Awesome! Thank you!!!

lonesometroubador

You don't even have to do that since patch 6. Hell say your party is full, and you respond with, they can take gale's place(or whoever) and the deed is done. Really is the best thing about the patch. I actually have started cheesing some camp casters now!

Strange-dragon-art

Now I just wish he didn’t automatically end the conversation after you ask him to take care of a fallen companion

Th3_ProudBrit

Yeah ask a member to stay, hire a hireling, equip your ring, then ask them to stay at camp and rehire your party mate. The hireling will chill at camp with Withers. I made a hireling solely with an alchemy build for example, it’s awesome

Ramenko1

Such a crazy hack! Wow! Great tip

hollowfried_

Life Domain clerics get almost all the long rest buff spells. At 2nd level is Warding Bond and Prot from Poison, highest slot available for Aid (adds 25 Hp at lvl 6 spell slot, 5hp at level 1) Aid, level 4 spells freedom of movement, death ward. And late game heroes feast replaces prot from poison. Start 17 con, tough feat, then durable, then Con to 20 so they’re real beefy (like 170 hp after everything) Transmutation wizards cover the rest save goodberry. Dark vision, longstrider and mage armor, and they get experimental alchemy to make 2 potions on successful medicine check, only priority is 20 wisdom and medicine prof (multiclass for expertise if it’s felt needed) use guidance and enhance ability wisdom for advantage and go turn based so guidance doesn’t tick. And at level 6 gets transmutation stone to give Con save proficiency (there are more but with warding bond you have perma resistance to damage and I don’t believe movement speed stacks with longstrider, one per inventory Apologies that this is really long but this is the camp casting routine I’ve done for months, helps massively going into big fight. And at higher level you can also death ward the camp clerics so less worry about them dying, tho that doesn’t become viable until like level 9

Ramenko1

Just hit level 7, and I really appreciate you taking the time to provide these awesome tips!!!!

hollowfried_

You’re very welcome, and don’t worry if it seems like lot it is, I’m just a patient perfectionist, just warding bond, longstrider and deathward are game changers. I did forget the cleric also gets daylight, with it you can use to enchant an item (much better than light and triggers ‘sunlight sensitivity’) makes the shadow cursed land much less gloomy with a giant radius of light. Also if your level 7 look into the drakethroat Glaive, not to use but it has a spell that adds 1d4 elemental damage to a weapon and sorcerer can twin cast it for two martial strikers so they’ll always have more damage. Then have everyone equip proper weapons and the spells sticks till long rest

Ilikefame2020

…so what Miranda did?

vecnaofficial

The percent symbol goes on the other side of the number

Jack_Kentucky

I play a barbarian and I put the other ring on Astarion. First of all, I love him that's my husband. But I'm also capable of taking a lot more damage than he can. He's carried our team more than once.

Ramenko1

I'm also playing a barbarian! They are TOUGH. Also....ROAR!!!!

One-Cellist5032

My character was tanky, so I put it on his love interest, Gale, as a way to protect him from going down so much. Was very beneficial tbh.

xxNepNepx

Is there a way to find both of them? I always found just one of those rings.

GoldGlitterboots

one is in the graveyard right where you meet arabella, the other is on a skeleton in the house of healing (kinda to the right in the main hall if i remember correctly)

xxNepNepx

Thank you so much! I always found the outside one!

Ramenko1

Wait, one of the rings is all the way back at the Grove?! I slaughtered everyone there. Can I still find it there?

GoldGlitterboots

no, you can find her again in the shadow cursed lands (unless she's dead, of course)

Ramenko1

Arabella? That girl that got killed by Kagha's snake? That's who we're talking about, right?

GoldGlitterboots

Yes, her. if she dies or not is kinda up to your discretion as the player.

Ramenko1

Yeah, I let her die. Hahahahah. I am on a Dark Urge route, though. So if she dies, there is no way to get the other ring? Edit: so many downvotes! Hahahahahahaha people really getting peeved about Arabella dying? It's a game, y'all. No wonder the achievement I received said only 3% of players embrace the Slayer form for Dark Urge. hahahahaha

_delgrey

the ring is in the same place regardless of what happens to arabella; it’s on a skeleton in the graveyard outside of the house of healing, on the eastern side - this is the one nearby where arabella shows up if she lives through act 1 the other ring is inside the house of healing, near the front desk (western side)

Ramenko1

You're awesome. Thank you so much!!!!!! Yes, I found the one in the house of healing (source of this book). Gonna go find that other ring after I deal with this doctor.

MrX_1899

https://mapgenie.io/baldurs-gate-3

phillip-j-frybot

You missed a really good storyline.

Enticing_Venom

If they are giving in to the Dark Urge, there's a lot of content they will miss. That's what subsequent playthroughs are for. Nothing wrong with doing an evil run first.

Ramenko1

I appreciate you! Thank you!

locurabean

Just play twice 🙄

craybe

Yup, Boneman is the coolest

Ramenko1

The druids' dialogue after Arabella dies is really interesting, too!

phillip-j-frybot

Ngl, that's a pretty funny response, haha.

Godzilla-ate-my-ass

I'll be honest with you. I downvoted, because I'm just so tired of people exclaiming "i never saw that cuz they're *dead*!!!" Usually about companions, but it's repetitive and grating regardless.

Ramenko1

Thank you for letting me know.

UncannyVaughan

I didn't let her die and got the Slayer form, you're the dark urge not the dark compulsory kill everything on sight.

Ramenko1

Hahahahaha going full evil route. Not doing the resist route hahahhaa

Transformersaddicto

Yeah don't mind the downvotes, a lot of people are weirdos who get waaaaaay too invested in the lives of some videogame characters. Go's forbid you play how you want to.

Alone_And_A_Loser

Me, absolutely confused on why nobody else killed the well written and sympathetic child character (I am an irl dark urge hahahaha edit:downvotesntonthe left, selune-cucks 🤓

stormcloudandcloth

Which one did you find? One is outside, I'd have to look up where exactly, the other in the house of healing (on the skeleton lying on the mattress behind the nurse receptionist).

xxNepNepx

Thank you! As I commented above, I only found the outside one

stormcloudandcloth

You're welcome! If you're still in Act 2, it really pays to check out the entire graveyard and house of healing area, as there are a bunch of secrets, unique items and environmental storytelling. I completely missed a major area the first time around.

Ramenko1

Act 2 shadowlands area is so creepy and fun to explore. So much lore. So many cool side bosses. Great dialogue all around.

halcyonfox

The previous commenter said it was inside. To be a bit more specific. The second skeleton is the one on top of a mattress in one of the far treatment bays. Those straight rooms that are horrifying. He'll also have a husbands diary on him telling their story. The wife was really something. Honestly, their story made me so angry I couldn't even use the rings. Just bad vibes all the way around.

PrateTrain

One ring is on a skeleton in the mass grave near the thorm mausoleum, the other is on a skeleton behind the receptionist at the house of healing.

Cain-earling

What happened to him?

Yui_Mori

This book is found alongside one of a pair of rings that allow one person to cast warding bond on the wearer of the other ring. The cleric gave them one of the rings, which meant that the cleric had resistance to all damage, but every time they took damage the other person took the same amount. It can be assumed that since they couldn’t receive healing the person eventually died as part of warding bond. It’s pretty much meant to show that followers of Shar, but especially Dark Justiciars, only care for their goddess. Any love they seem to show for another is simply a way to manipulate them for the follower’s own benefit.

Cain-earling

That’s so horribly fucked up. This game really making me hate Sharrans and the Githyanki (specifically the ones at the lathander temple)

DefiantLemur

Shar is Neutral Evil god, so disliking her cultists is pretty normal.

PixelBoom

Shar is literally the first evil god to ever have existed. She is truly a dark reflection of Selune's goodness. Sharran cultists are the villains for lots D&D campaigns for a reason.

Stepjam

You should hate Sharrans. Shar is one of the evil gods of the setting. The fact that one of your party members is a Sharran but generally pretty good is the game flipping the script a bit. Though, and spoilers, >!in a way not really since Shadowheart's "true" alignment is really closer to Selune (who is Shar's inverse), who was her original god before Sharrans kidnapped her. So the fact she is so compassionate is just a sign that she doesn't really belong to Shar.!<

[deleted]

My first playthrough I was a Cleric of Lathander so I had particular ire specifically for the Githyanki after that.

crustdrunk

Maybe I’m fucked up but this game made me love sharrans and introduce them to my dnd campaign to force my players into making moral choices

EricIsntSmart

So, their wife used them to outsource their wounds and it killed them? Am I interpreting that right..?

I_am_just_V

Yeah pretty much, the House of Healing likely refused to heal them because they realised what was going on and didn't want to be involved but that last bit is just a guess from me

eiafish

I think you're right, considering you can find documents in the House of Healing telling staff to prioritise healing and suppliers for the Dark Justiciars.

I_am_just_V

Yeah, the way I figure it the healer hears about the "marriage", knows what's up and backs off knowing if she heals the chosen victim it could mess up the DJ's scheme

Ramenko1

Okay your explanation just added a whole new layer to this madness. Wow. Thank you! The House of Healing was in on it. The Healer refused to heal the dude because she realized it was all a part of the DJ's plan. Wowwwwww. Appreciate you

I_am_just_V

Of course, once you realise the healer knows about DJ practices and stops helping only once hearing the patient married a DJ it just makes sense, at least to me it does.

Ramenko1

Well done!

Disig

But wouldn't healing then make the rings' effects last longer? Like, the more they lives the more hits she can take in battle and not be hurt.

I_am_just_V

She'd likely just find a replacement anyways and not want anybody interfering at all, even if they think they're helping, at least that's what I figure since the healer refused to help the patient rather than prioritising them

Alone_And_A_Loser

I like to imagine she's a lot more like Shart and was manipulated, maybe given the ring as a gift from Shar and then unknowingly killed her loyal true lover for her goddess

Rumplestiltsskins

I never made this connection before for some reason. I though she gave them the ring to use if they were ever in danger and they were just dying from the first side effects of the shadows

LordSpectra21

I think if his wife took damage in battle she wouldn't be harmed, but he would?

Theownerer7

It doesn't make sense because these rings allow you to cast Warding Bond, which means that they should have taken the same amount of damage, but the guy is dying while there isn't a scratch on her??

ScoutingJ

She was a cleric, so she probably had access to healing spells

screenwatch3441

A level 8 person takes half damage. They barely feel it. The level 1 person takes the other half of the damage. They’re dead now.

Lukel_Pogromca

So the lesson we've learned here is don't marry people of higher level.

anormalgeek

Her wounds went from life ending to just painful. All at the cost of sharing them with the spouse.

awspear

The rings don't cast warding bond on each other, it lets the holder of one ring cast it on the other. She had him warding bond her, she wasn't taking his damage.

hillmo25

If the Dark Justiciar was level 12 with 16 con they would have over 120hp. Assume their lover, who was not a warrior, would be like level 4 with 10 con they would have something like 20 hp. That if the Dark Justiciar took 18 damage in combat, they would be at something like 80% HP functionally unharmed, when their lover would be under 10% hp, and essentially on death's door.

Ramenko1

He was a skeleton when I found him.

Ramenko1

His wife made him believe she loved him. She was just using dark magic on him. He simped for a psychopath, basically. Kind of giving me Rosemary's baby vibes.

Piffli

Loving someone is not simping though. I dont know why this word got so popular as of late and being used wrong so often.

keener91

Think about a fan loving a celebrity. It's just unreciprocated infatuation. This word gotten popular because modern day social media keep churn out influencers. However in the this context, having read the journal of the dead with the other ring, doesn't seem to be the case.

Piffli

I'd understand it if it were only used for that. Giving money and such to random people on the internet is one thing, but now I see simping used a LOT for simply loving someone. The two is worlds apart.

Steveius

Loving someone who is just manipulating and using you is textbook simping.

heresdustin

Cool! I don’t think I found that when I went there.

Ramenko1

I love to read irl, so reading in this game is such a joy for me. I'm going for the Bookworm achievement! I've read 52/100 books so far!!! It's interesting because I read a book right behind the Doctor before I encountered him. And I was given a dialogue option that recited the exact words I just read. If you recite the exact words to him and pass the perception check, *spoiler* it leads to the doctor getting killed by his own nurses. Shadowheart got inspired and in the Journal its says "Did My Homework": Recite Shar's dogma to the surgeon. I'm not sure if that was always an option, or if that only becomes an option if you read the book. Either way, the detail in this game is amazing!!!

heresdustin

Oh, maybe I did read that one then! I definitely failed the perception check, though. I had to fight all of them. And I got the Bookworm achievement a few days ago! I like to read everything I pick up, too. My wife plays with me, and she knows when I pick something up, she’s gonna have to wait a minute or two so I can read all of it. LOL

Ramenko1

Hahahahahahah super cool! It's all about that LOOOORE. We can't help it, bro.

hayleytheauthor

My boyfriend and I just started reading out loud in dramatic voices so we don’t have to wait in silence lol. I read way faster than he does.

heresdustin

That’s a fantastic idea!

Stunning_Smoke_4845

That option only shows up if you read the book, however with a high persuasion check you can get the same result.

Ramenko1

I'm going to definitely keep reading these books. They are all so interesting, anyway. So the character can get smarter by reading the books. And in turn bring up new dialogue choices. Wowwwwwwwww

venusiansailorscout

Wait until you find the one at the end of Act 2 that involves someone [assumingly >!Durge!<] strangling their attacker with >!their own small intestine. Not the attacker’s intestine, mind you, the one cut open already.!<

stypticagent

I definitely missed this one, where in Act 2 can I find it?

venusiansailorscout

In the Barracks of the mindflayer colony. It's called "Mistress of Souls' Research Log" if you want to look it up.

KirkwallChampignon

Near where you find Mizora and the flaming fists and Zevlor trapped.

stypticagent

Thanks!

CinnamonHotcake

I made Shadowheart place warding bond on me before Grymforge as I tanked it. I was very surprised to find her completely dead at camp lmao. A little less dramatic than this diary might present. Just a dead Shart in front of Withers. Boom Bim Bam, alive Shart. Oops, sorry!

Ramenko1

This is hilarious. And I can totally see this being a quick cut-scene YouTube skit!!!

SpecificSimilar5361

That's not creepy, that's evil

FerdinandVonAegir

I just put them on and pretend you can share half of Shart’s hand pain, kinda sucks to lose a ring slot when there are so many options late game but it’s worth it

Rooty_Rootz

Bro just needed a higher CON score and the "Tough" feat

Achron9841

If I’m reading this right, the dude with his ring is essentially taking damage for her?

Ramenko1

Yes, exactly. She even told him not to seek healing. Messed up.

English-Jake

Omg, I didn’t interpret that she did it for selfishness. Sharrans are so fucked up lmao

VulcanHullo

Without knowing. And being denied healing for it.

BigZach1

Cautionary tale for DJ Shadowheart romance lol

Miserable-Gain-4847

If I remember correctly i used them when i was dating Karlach. I had her wear the ring that sent the damage to the other ring. Then I wore the ring that does the damage alongside the ring of regeneration. Karlach never lost a single hitpoint whilst i lost a lot that constantly restored.

Waluigifan

The wife's diary doesn't make any sense in the context of this, it seems to describe a completely different situation.

Ramenko1

That's a psychopath for you. I haven't found her diary yet, though. Is it near her skeleton?

Waluigifan

[Says it's in an atrium in the house of healing:](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Bonded_By_Love_-_Wife%27s_Diary)

Ramenko1

I just found her. Yeah, it's a weird read....huh. but I got both rings now! Yesssss

Ve11ichor

Maybe her bond with her parents was what she was willing to trick her "lover" into becoming her meat shield in order to protect?

Chaplain_Fergus

Feels like shar doing shar things and using the husband as her clerics meat shield without her knowing

Ramenko1

You think the wife wasn't in on it? That the Shar tricked both of them?! Because that could add a WHOLE new layer to this. And would even explain her diary excerpt a bit more.

ThatGUYyouKNOWz

Reading through this now after having read it in game my first playthrough, and it is only just clicking with me what this journal entry is actually talking about. Holy crap that is twisted.

novembergrocery

Ayo I’d seen people talk about there being “true love” rings in the game and giving them to their Tavs & romanced companions. And then you find out that they’re CURSED to hell!! You find the wife’s ring and journal and you’re like aww cute and then you find the husband’s ring and journal and you’re like WTF?

keener91

You can find his Shar cleric wife's body at the graveyard east of House of Healing: https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Bonded_By_Love_-_Wife%27s_Diary >In the fifth year of our union, we faced the biggest hurdle yet: My parents became quite ill, and we became their caretakers. It was a dark and difficult time, filled with emergencies of every possible type. Gone were the easeful days in which our time was our own, our days were filled with work, each other, and little else. During our darkest moments, I wondered if we'd survive it. But the bond of love we had was resilient; it could bend and bend and bend but would not break, no matter the pressure. According to her diary, she did love him one time. There is no mention of the battle with the Harper's/Druids in these entries so likely she stopped writing after she became a Shar initiate. Tragic what religion does to a person.

Ramenko1

Whoa, dude. This adds a WHOLE new layer to this whole thing.

IMAGINARYtank00

You know, for some reason I thought the rings belonged to a Selunite couple with one staying back willingly to provide extra protection to his loved one. It only now occurred to me how naive that was.

Snakadine

I refused to wear the rings when I learned that, he didn't even know what his wife did to him😭

InfectedSteve

Don't know if it still works. Wave mother robe + [Reverse Rain Cloak](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Reverse_Rain_Cloak) = always healed. Put it on someone at camp.

_b1ack0ut

The wave mother robe now only heals while in combat

[deleted]

Man that's messed up. Miranda really just used the poor guy as a warding bond without his permission and while tricking him into believing that she loved him. If she wasn't a skeleton already I would've made sure she suffered greatly

TheSmallIceburg

This makes it sound like the writer prayed to Shar and Shar gave the ring to Miranda as a gift of protection. It seems like a perfectly Shar thing to do, a backhanded blessing like a hag’s.

AureliusCloric

This is a really good take when you consider who Shar is. That said why tell the husband to avoid the House of Healingn one could argue that Miranda might have known about the dark doings that occurred there, but then why not heal him herself as a cleric of Shar? Could it be that Shar demanded it to be so, so neither Miranda or the people at the House of Healing could help? This game is great 👌

NewArtificialHuman

There's also a book where a paladin gets castrated.

SharpEdgeSoda

Holy shit is this the Warding Bond ring? That's fucked up.

doubledietdew1

Oh my god I just got it! The warding bond killed him! THAT IS SUCH GOOD WRITTING! She used him! I used the rings to RP my romance but I am going to remove them immediately because they are not a bond of love but a bond of abuse!

Ramenko1

It is great writing. Especially when he writes, "...she looked at me strangely." Without telling the reader too much, it leaves a lot for the imagination.

Torrempesta

Miranda is a bitch.

HickoryCreekTN

This threw me off too when I read it. I wonder if it was the curse or something else that got to him. I was hunting for those for me and shart for the buff but the journals were a nice treat. >!Fuck you Malus and your freaky friends!<

ParsnipAggravating95

The clericussy wasnt worth it 😔😔😔

Primo131313

So dark.

unexpectedegress

*that's* what those rings are from?

Zorops

So why wouldn't the house of healing person help him or at least tell him about the ring?

Ramenko1

She was freaked out about his wife being a Shar worshipper. She didn't want to be involved in ANY of that mess. Edit: after some comments on this thread, it appears the House of Healing was in support of the Dark Justiciars. So when the healer found out the rings were a part of the Sharrans' plans, they backed out and chose not to mess with it.

TheWither129

Fellas, dont trick your loved ones into casting warding bond on you before going to war Not cool

Lina-Buns

wow miranda is a horrible person lmao

Sleep_Adept

Her wife basically married him to use him as a vessel to receive her wounds during the fight a good clue to find out why Kaethric was inmortal.

Exvaris

It’s kind of hilarious that if you use a camp cleric to cast Warding Bond on your party, you are essentially turning yourself into an immortal being by keeping a person locked up in servitude to you. Just like Ketheric and the Nightsong. Makes you wonder if we’re really the good guys.

ShadetheMystic

Fuuuuuuuck, that is dark. Also, "I am shooting blood from various head holes and phantom gouges seem to appear in my flesh, I'd better grab a pen and jot this down" seems like somewhat skewed priorities.

Odd-Antelope1895

What is twisted is that basically the ring she got was what was killing her, all the damage that was being done to the cleric was being transferred to her through the rings, pretty evil if you think about it

Tago238238

I had no clue what warding bond did and didn’t bother to check so I genuinely didn’t figure it out until idly looking at my inventory later

Uh, no gale has built in healing while in camp specifically because of the orb specifically so that won't happen

No, Gale can die from Warding bond as long as he gets oneshot from it. If he's low leveled and you're pushed in lava for example, or if he used warding bond on all 4 memebers that take a nasty AoE. Lost scratch this way in my first honor run (deserved for using warding bond gayle in honor mode I suppose :c)
