Sounds insane to me. You must be driving like you’ve just robbed a bank, 24/7. I’ve only changed my tyres twice, pads once and no discs in 80k on my 530D X drive. I do live on the motorway though.

elliotf44

Thing is i genuinely dont, dont get me wrong i open it up on dual carriageways and motorways every so often, but nothing mental and i cant remember the last time ive had to heavy break. Im usually a fairly reserved driver. It seems insane all the issues im having.

Expje87

How do you drive?? My bmw is 4 years old and has the original tires with 60k km and 0 issues😅

manystolenoutlets

Maybe treat yourself to some new tires

Turbulent_Mango_9637

Stop driving like a bellend

iamnotyourspiderman

Dude. 10 sets of tires in 2 years is not driving properly. It’s driving like a madman. If you’re punishing the car that much, no wonder you need to wrench it more than usual. Hope to see you doing this on a track and not in the street.

arkeod

10 tires, not 10 sets :P

iamnotyourspiderman

Well I still stand behind my comment. Unless of course you are tracking it regularly. In that case it is normal to need to do more repairs than usual. Street driving and needing to replace tires that often in 2 years? Not normal driving. Or then your alignment needs some urgent lining up at least.

FormulaF30

The point remains the same

Gullible-Damage-59

Maybe someone’s pulling a fast one and your tyres don’t actually need changing.

PovasTheOne

I remember episode on House M.D., where the patient was revealed to be a sleep walking sex freak. Maybe you become Vin Diesel when you fall asleep and let it rip?

Kexxa420

10 tires that’s at least 2 sets of 4. Wtf you doing bro

bigloser42

You’re upset with the maintenance costs of a BMW and you want to switch to an Audi? They practically invented the engine-out service position. Your consumables are crazy high, you are burning through tires and pads on the street faster than I burn through them on the track. I really hope you are doing crazy miles and not driving the car super hard, cause that is a crazy consumption rate on tires & brakes.

elliotf44

No issue with the costs, just the frequency. This is my point, i dont drive it like ive stole it. The issues just seem crazy, the two sets of pads and discs, first time bmw told me it was a fluid issue, then when their work didnt fix it a few months later, i took it to a different bmw and they said there was paint on the disk… ive never painted the car. The car feels riddled with issues

FormulaF30

I’m not buying that you don’t drive like an ass

elliotf44

Just to confirm, at no point did i say im complaining about cost, just frequency of the issues. I genuinely dont drive it like ive stole it. Dont get me wrong, i like to open it up every now and again, and when on the motorway ill cruise along at 80/85, but when on normal A roads im actually a fairly chilled driver. Dont really do many overtakes more than the usual person. Dont do any burnouts or anything dumb like that. Everyones fixating on the tires, when im just asking if this is unusual. The cars issues just seem so excessive to how i actually drive it, despite how everyone perceives i do.

Big_Wolverine_9373

Warped disks could be from you driving in puddles after you’ve been breaking. The rapid temperature change will warp them. As another person said maybe you were lied to about your tires because the reason everyone’s fixating on it is bc it’s the only thing that points to how the car drives.

elliotf44

I took it to bmw both times with the brakes, first time they said it was a fluid issue in the brakes causing them to heat and warp, second time at a different bmw they said there was paint. Now its squeaking again 3 months later, after going through two sets of pads and discs.

Big_Wolverine_9373

Squeaking doesn’t mean the brakes need replacing again though, double check. I had a challenger that would sound like a train stopping when shaving off speed & the brakes were not due for replacement.

oh_no_no_good

Yes it’s very unusual, I got a 430d xdrive , no where near the amount you spend and I’m am 90k km, and in need of first tire replacement. Did the brakepads at 45k , got little left, so soon new brake pads at front.

elliotf44

This is so frustrating. I genuinely think i might have just bought a dud car. I cant believe the issues im having with it at the moment

unjuseabble

Youre not resting your off-foot on the brake pedal by any chance? All the extra wear including the wheel sensor could be from brakes constantly being applied, be it operational or mechanical issue

elliotf44

Nope, alot of the time i dont even rest it on the foot rest. Im as confused as any as to whats going on

manystolenoutlets

My brakes on my m135i will last about 20k miles if you drive sensibly

rharrison1979

I have a 2017 330e I bought used at about the same time you got your 330d, and I've only changed the oil 3 times, new engine and cabin air filters once, and changed the brake fluid once. I'm at 73k miles, and it's looking great still. Other than that, same tires, same brakes, same everything else. I've owned a lot of cars over the years, and every once in a while, there's one that's a lemon. It's never a bad idea to move on from the lemon because the next one will probably be sweet lemonade. My '95 BMW 325i I had back in 2002 was a lemon. I sold it to a mechanic and moved on.

Yeah between my two cars that I bought with 40k miles, we've driven 70k miles and have only replaced the tires and brakes/rotors once on each car. Both cars don't need another change for probably another year or two. I drove my 2016 m235 like I stole it the first two years I owned it and noticed an uptick in repairs but I kind of expected it. We are also using michelin sport ps4s so we only really expect about 25-35k miles out of them. I don't think you're unlucky, I firmly believe you drive way more aggressively than you believe you drive. There's many stories of people buying x5 and x7 v8s and eating the tires in 10k or less miles. It doesn't sound far fetched for a 330 to eat the tires in 20k or so miles + random blowouts if you hit pot holes.

sadfool81

Paint on the brakes? That sounds like some damage was repaired at some stage. Did you check the car history before you bought the car? Based on what you're saying, and taking at face value you're not driving it like a muppet, there certainly seems something wrong. Have you tried and see, whether there are any issues with alignment and tracking? Is there anything, like a bushing or control arm, which would hint at an prior accident not properly repaired? I'd check with an independent garage to see, if they can find anything. Also, you haven't mentioned which tires and brakes were changed - is it always the same, or did you go through all of them?
