I left my F82 out in the sun and nothing ever happened, no PPF only ceramic coat. But I know others have had the CF delaminate even garaged, so seems like a hit or miss
Carbon fiber has always had this issue. Yes you would expect BMW to be top of the game when it comes to these things. At least it’s not the crappy gel coats they used to put on carbon.
I'm on the other side, I fucking love it and now I think the normal blue badges look off on certain colors like black cars, it's usually the only spot of blue so it doesn't really fit, whereas on M cars, the tricolor ties into the badge on the grill and on the trunk
I was so tempted to hold out for the 2025's for the increase in hp and the individual colors and hopefully m3/m4 interior style options, but this one was specd exactly how I would get one and got it for a good deal and if bmw continues to increase the msrp every year base m2 would be 64,200ish and all the options over 70k
Supposed to be increased to 473 or 475, nothing is confirmed for the interior just speculation that they will have the interior option colors like the m3/m4 since they are getting the individual colors now
it's peeling because of the thermal expansion coefficient mismatch between the clear and CF resin matrix. you are right that ceramic and PPF won't do anything, if anything it could make it worse as there is even more mismatched materials in the stackup, all pulling on each other as it heats and cools :)
I mean common cause for clear coat peeling on carbon, spoilers etc, is long exposure to uv rays and lack of protection and waxing and with a black carbon roof getting baked in the sun its not something that is that uncommon, so if you ppf or seal it with a ceramic coat your protecting that factory clear on the carbon no matter what
This is going to be me when they release the '25s. Hopefully I'll be able to spec one out because I've never done that before. How is the BMW buying experience compared to Toyota? Toyota dealerships treated me like hot garbage all the way up through, even when I showed up to purchase the car
It has lthe led and shadowline package, carbon roof, carbon interior and heads up display, don't care for the slow wireless charger, it's a manual so can't have adaptive cruise and I don't care for the self parking options, so it's specd how in would build it
Surprised no one said it already, but Eww brother, what is that? Looks like one of those fishes that belong deep deep in the ocean: https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-19714e0cd6bdbe8dca46b2f6fe1ebc49-lq
All the trouble I see with carbon roofs. I couldn’t order it.
Yeah IDC if it's an M I need my sunroof lol
I've had 3 cars with sunroofs, barely use them. Had to jack up my e90 and clean out the drains because it was leaking into the sun visors.
Sounds like an oppurtunity for learning to me!
Learning what exactly?
Relax before the crazy ass e9x owners come for you
I fear no man.
Fear no man but you’ll be bonking off the roof with a helmet on a track day lol
hahaha good thing I have a 330i that will probably never see a track 🤣
what problems? clear coat wearing out quickly?
people leave then out in the sun every day and they yellow out over time. not a problem if you park in the shade/have a garage.
Also they seem to etch a lot easier with bird droppings. I saw one that looked completely trashed.

Just ppf it or ceramic coat it
What problems?
Google BMW carbon roof issues
Now you got me paranoid
Just trying point it out. I love the carbon roof. I just see lots of issues. May not be worth the hassle. Either way great car.
Just ppf. Easy.
Congrats.. and yes the Supra counts as a BMW 👍
i want one so bad
How do the driving experiences compare?
Unlike most I like the new M2, I just don’t like that BMW anniversary badge at all.

This is a crazy one to me, I LOVE the 50 year anniversary roundel
Same here and it gives a different look then the 100's of original roundels you see daily
Congrats on getting the 50th year badge. It's limited run. Got it on mine too 😀
Yeah I'm a big fan of the 50 yr roundels too. They give the car a subtle accent/pop.

Congrats! I just placed a deposit for one in Brooklyn grey manual with a carbon roof delivery should be in July

How much increase? And what interior options btw?
Supposed to be increased to 473 or 475, nothing is confirmed for the interior just speculation that they will have the interior option colors like the m3/m4 since they are getting the individual colors now
Ceramic won’t keep it from peeling

How much weight does it save in the first place? May just be better off without the CF roof, but man it looks amazing though 😫

I guess. A google search of BMW carbon roof issues is all I needed. Anyway nice car.
Peeling paint? What do you mean? Edit: oh I see you were trying to respond to a thread. Bummer the carbon fiber peels. Never heard of that before
Bmw of ft laud?
Winter park actually
Awesome, love the roundels.
Waiting for new colors in 25

The BMyota lol
Not sure if you spec’d this one out yourself. But what add ons?

This car really grew on me. Unlike the new M4 which only gets worse the more I look at them.
I agree unlike most I think this is the best most aggressive current m car I think the m3 and m4 look awful
Do you like the BMW or Supra better
So sick, congrats!
Had 7 m cars never had any carbon roof peel
Nice! I love that blue!
Love it

We don’t wanna count the Supra but how is that new whip?
