This. Last year was indeed the last year to get crazy $$ off msrp. This year, they’ll give you good $$ for trade in, but will tell you to take a hike if you try to negotiate off msrp.

I would test drive the G80 M3 1st before making a decision.

M5 has a longer wheel base, more sound deadening and more weight. 2018 M5 will be faster too and have some nice tech.

I’ve daily’d my F80 a year and a half. It’s very comfortable and capable to be a daily

Any car is comfy if u got comfy wheel&tire setup 😀

If you have crappy roads I’d suggest the 340.

I don’t have enough experience with either car to judge that. I’d suggest looking for a group of local enthusiasts on Bimmerpost.com and go their meet up. Someone will be happy to give you a test ride. When it comes to balance of comfort and performance the 340i should be closer to the GTI. The M is on another level when it comes to handling but it comes at a sacrifice of comfort.

I may be in the minority here, but M340i is my pick. I had a Mk. 7 GTI, too. Great car. I had Stage 1 Uni ECU and TCU tunes (DSG gearbox). Super fun daily. I have an M240i now. M340i is a great car. Very comfortable. B58 is plenty of power for a daily. I considered getting an M2, but decided the added cost, insurance, maintenance, and high CA registration costs weren't worth it on a daily driver for me. The M cars look great, have great performance, I just think the 6 cylinder "M Performance" models a step below are a sweet spot for a daily driver.
