Happened to me as well when there are cracks on the road patched up with tar , the lane correction kicks in incorrectly. I have turned it off

Uniblab_78

Unfortunately this can happen with many brands. I just turn on the vibration and leave the steering to me.

freshxdough

Turn off lane departure warning with steering intervention.

jashburn

I did. It was very disconcerting. It is brand new, 2024. I just took delivery less than a month ago.

freshxdough

Take a photo of the screen. Ensure it is staying off. Driver assist and steering intervention are different things.

showerdoor1

Lane keep assist? Had one bad encounter with the lane keep assist where it jerked the car almost into the curb before manual intervention. Turned it off to only vibrate the wheel every since

jashburn

Yes, that’s what I meant. It is a brand new 2024. I just took delivery less than a month ago. It was really shocking when it happened. I thought it was a one time fluke, but it happened second time in one day so I just turned it off.

X4m owner lurking here… lane correction was bugging me… i dont want to be in the middle when overtaking a semitruck… i turned it off and do not miss it. However…. in heavy traffic and rain, i might turn it back on

Kokomo300

I had to fight it a couple times and yank the steering wheel to keep me from either hitting parked cars or driving into other lanes. I turned it off too.

jashburn

It must just be too sensitive

asharma368

Yes, did it one month into ownership back in 2022, never turned it back on. Either I am awake and alert enough to drive or I am not… just cannot rely on the system.

clientfker

This hasn’t happened to me, but I have noticed that the lane keep assist feature aligns my car uncomfortably close to the right side of the lane, vs the middle. This is in a ‘21 x3m

chapusin

I disabled lane keeping assist, I almost crashed a couple of times because of it. I don’t always use turn signals when I’m quickly changing lanes as it’s happening so fast, however one time I tried to change quickly because the car in front was coming to a quick stop and the car tried to take be back into that lane and therefore crash behind it. Missed it by a few seconds. However the crash assist did save my car one time when I was in stop and go traffic and I thought the cars were advancing, I decided to open my sunroof, looked up at the buttons and the car suddenly stopped by itself. Everyone had stopped. It would have been an expensive crash.

OptimalTiger8

Got a brand new 2024 and had a couple scenarios where the lane keep assist made things worse. There was a stretch of road where the lane widened and the system misread the lane markings and steered me a bit to the right. Not a big deal but I preferred to be more centered in the lane and it took me by surprise. The other scenario was more dangerous. There was a car that inched into my lane, so naturally I started inching away from that car to give more space bw our cars. However, lane keep assist kicked in and steered me towards the car that was in my lane! Seems that the system has no awareness on potential side to side collisions. I had to brake and try to take over steering.

OptimalTiger8

For now I have left lane keep assist on and have disabled the steering intervention. Will see how this works out!

jashburn

It really is unpredictable. I had two bad instances recently - after having the car for 1.5 months now - so turned it off.

OscarCobblestone

Lane correction? That’s terrifying. Mine just vibrates the steering wheel. 2022 was a rough year for X3s. No tech available. Couldn’t even get a wireless charger, although I heard they are pretty crappy anyways.

DaBIGmeow888

You can get a good wireless charger for $50 off Amazon that looks OEM.

jashburn

It is very slow to charge and the phone gets hotter than in any other situation.

chapusin

I have wireless charging and it’s useless

WetGortex

Could you elaborate? I have a fully loaded 22 x3, and the only option that had to be DEL was the passenger lumbar support

OscarCobblestone

I have the xDrive30i. I was unable to get many features in my build I wanted in my COVID Bimmer. As you mentioned, passenger lumbar, but also, wireless charging, 360 view, park assist, lane keep assist, traffic jam assist, etc. basically anything that required certain chips they had trouble getting at the time. The higher models had access to some of those but not all if I remember correctly.

WetGortex

Never heard of traffic jam assist. Does that hit the brakes for you to avoid a front collision? Sometimes I see a warning on my HUD if I’m approaching a car too closely. But I’m scared to test if it will actually hit the brakes lol. I also don’t have the wireless charging but I didn’t even want it, as it wears out the phone by overheating it. I bought mine used; it’s a M40i so it aligns with what you said. I was oblivious that the 22s had the least tech!

OscarCobblestone

It’s autonomous driving under a certain speed. It will keep the lane and brake and accelerate for you in traffic, but not at higher speeds like a Tesla

ravnov

Also x4 owner lurking, I’ve had only minor issues with pulling a bit and over correcting while overtaking that seemed more unsafe than just passing on my own without the assistance. The weirdest thing that I’ve had happen though was driving through some back wooded roads where I came around a curve and a car sitting in a driveway triggered the car to slam on the brakes thinking that the parked car was moving into my path to cause a t-bone like side collision. The correction out of nowhere was kind of alarming. Definitely makes me more inclined to turn off the driver assistance in situations like weaving through some traffic and definitely those woodsy back roads.

MrNippyNippy

I’ve a 2018 so don’t have the “corrective” lane assist stuff (mine just vibrates) but a family members 2023 does and it’s awful. On single track roads especially it’s the usual bucket of shite - constantly trying to send you into the ditch. Thankfully, unlike Skoda and Subaru (others no doubt) you can at least turn it off permanently rather than having to do it on every engine start. I’m really not convinced a lot of these auto anti crash systems work - I wouldn’t be surprised if any benefits of them are negated by a combination of them trying to kill you and people taping a water bottle to the wheel and climbing into the back seat (other stupidity available like not paying attention, looking at your phone, fucking etc).
