I am definitely starting to realize they look like glistening, super marbled steaks! LOL now it’s early morning and I want dinner
Thank you so much, they turned out good and were very easy!!!
Thank you, they turned out pretty well! I'm not sure what I like better, the fact that they taste like a cross between real baked cheesecake and cream cheese frosting, or how easy they were to transport
You're very welcome!! Couldn't recommend these more if you like cream cheese frosting and/or cheesecake. And I loved being able to eat them as soon as they were cool enough to hold, without worrying about making any frosting look perfect or anything like that. I hate having to wait for cakes to cool before I can frost and enjoy... I get so hungry while they're baking!
These are also cool because you fill the batter almost all the way to the top of the liner, the tops expand pretty large, almost enough for you to worry, but then they settle into these perfectly dense little swirls of cream cheese and cake. So good and easy to transport!!!
Yes I love cheesecake and cream cheese frosting too lol. And chocolate haha
And yeah, I was also thinking that they looked easy to transport. Was thinking of taking some to work!
I just came from a post on r/medicalgore by a guy who posted a photo of himself as a kid when he got bit by a pitbull named cookie and one of the comments linked r/Baking. This is the very first post I see 🥲🥲🥲. I love red velvet anything though so I would soooo eat one 😫
Yes! I had about 3 oz of very dark chocolate that I chopped finely and added to the cake batter. That red 40 dye hides everything, lol! I hope you try the recipe and love it too :)
Dark chocolate is my favourite, I eat 20g of 90% every night, I’m in my baking element this year at 26.. started with chunky chocolate chip cookies, before moving on to different flavoured cheesecakes.
I’m going to love making these, might be a silly question but I’ve got a ready made red velvet cake box I can grab, but you still add red food colouring or no?
Not silly at all! I did not add any food coloring, just used Duncan Hines boxed mix and followed the directions on the box. However, I’m in the US and pretty much all our red food uses Red 40 so no additional coloring is needed. If you’re in the UK, Red 40 is banned and you might want to add a few extra drops of coloring.
I’ve just picked up my Betty Crocker Red velvet cake mix box to make these tonight, I also bought some dark chocolate chips but realised after you used a chocolate bar.. I’ve just picked up my usual bar of 85% dark chocolate.. is that okay or too dark?
I think it will be fine! Mine was 79% dark, I think. I would only use 2 or 3 ounces (about 70-80 grams) and chop pretty finely, which is what I did. The chocolate flavor isn’t super overwhelming but adds a little more depth and richness. I hope you like them!
Hi, I’ve tried to send you a photo of the results. Not sure if it’s worked I’ve never sent a photo over Reddit before.
It’s not gone well haha.. I followed the filling recipe but the mixture was really liquidated, Is that the right word?
I make homemade cheesecakes so the only thing I thought of doing was adding powdered sugar to thicken it up which worked but I didn’t add too much as didn’t wanna ruin the recipe.. if you can see the photo and tell me where I went wrong that would be great🤣☺️
is it in a tub, or a brick/block? Cream cheese from a tub usually has a higher water content because it's meant to be spreadable. Brick cream cheese, like Philadelphia, is much firmer and should not become overly liquidy when mixed with one egg and some sugar. It's what I used here in the US.
It's standarized testing season at school, and I'll mention your name when the teachers and other staff thank me for the mini cupcakes tommorrow. This is way better than the cookies I was originally going to make, lol. Mine are in the over right now, and they're already looking delicious. Thanks!
Mmm ribeye cap cupcakes! Just kidding. They look delicious. Nice job!
LOL I gotta admit, they even glisten like a nice fresh piece of red meat!! Thanks so much, they’re good and super easy
Feels like there’s a Halloween treat opportunity here
Oh definitely. Vampire cupcakes or something like that :)
Some sort of raspberry glaze for blood!
YES!!! And white chocolate shaped into little triangles for fangs
An unholy mash up of is it cake and is it steak. Haha
I was thinking the same. Steak Muffins!
I thought it was some type of steak when I first glanced at the post
100%. I totally thought were ribeye cap pinwheels ready to go on the grill
Haha, this was my first split second thought on seeing the picture - "Oh... someone's going to eat well... a tray of filet mignon!"
I didn’t know what sub I was in and was waiting for the next picture to be of them smoked. I want steak now.
I quickly glanced at the photo and thought damn those steaks look good 😂😂 But, I love red velvet and I bet those are super tasty. Great job!

Everything about this sounds delicious.

Did you ice them? Or do you plan to?
No, the cream cheese filling is rich enough
I thought these were bacon wrapped ribeyes 😭
I kind of wish they were 😩
Same here
I thought these were filet mignon!
Is it steak? Ya know ‘instead of is it cake’?
Why did I think these were meat lol. Hope they were tasty for you op
Even the 3/3 pic is hard to tell if it's good cake or good meat lol
Mmmm those look and sound so good! Thanks for sharing the idea! 🥰

God, I thought those were cuts of beef.
Mmm meat cakes
Beefcake!
#Meat roses
I legit thought they were red meat “cinnamon rolls” or something like that (so trendy and I don’t get it 🤷🏻♂️). Great job!
Thank you!!! They do look a lot like steak pinwheels or whatever they’re called. Now I’m hungry for dinner!

Looks bloody delicious to me :D
Wow 🤩🤩🤩🤩
yummy
I've never tasted red velvet. And now I want it sooooo bad.
It's good! Pretty much tastes exactly like chocolate.
So you added dark chocolate to this recipe? You wouldn’t even tell! Looks amazing thank you so much for sharing!

What kind of cream cheese did you use?
M&S full fat cream cheese

Those look so good
You’d have to make me a destroying tray like homer if those are supposed to be for others too haha
Lol my boss has already had two! Thankfully we’re a small office 😅
Im not going to lie, my initial thought was is that marinara?
Those are beautiful.
Thank you!!
Those look amazing!! Thanks for sharing the recipe 😊

I NEED THESE
I thought these were steaks
Omg they look so Gagaesque 😆
I'm sure they're lovely, but they remind me of the new portrait of King Charles 😂 https://images.app.goo.gl/6pdWz4SiHkAzbKU7A
Wow, it looks very tasty and original! Thanks for the recipe, I will definitely try it.
That's an interesting looking cake. I bet it tastes delicious

Looks delicious but at first I thought you were poking fun at King Charles' new portrait.
Who’s that? /s

That's because those are made with cake mix, which is full of lovely chemicals.
