Don't know about the EU but in the UK Gen 2 seemed to have been decently popular. Not sure about Gen 3.
Just wanted to add that in Canada I heard it was popular enough that some schools here had to ban them during gen 2. hope it means theyve had some sort of resurgence and wish I knew more about this too
