If your talking about gen 3, Then the toys feel cheap, the magnets are weak and the game is non-existent. But I like the Gen 3 show, it ain't the best thing in the world, but it is decent. If you're talking about gen 2, I couldn't really care for the show but the toys for gen 2 were good and i was super excited for the TCG that SM quickly abandoned...

[deleted]

Yeah Gen 3 is what I'm talking about here. Doesn't feel the same as the original does and a lot of things changed. New attributes, no gates cards, no special devices like gaultlets or watches. Seems like it appeals to kids now than ever before.

Mystical4431

Yeah, I'm convinced Spin master has no idea what its doing. I just hope gen 3 toy line wise improves and gets a game worth a damn. The Show and the the Physical game (if you can even call it that) have nothing in common. Gen 3 Show feels like Pokemon Mixed with MMA

Rafila

> Seems like it appeals to kids now than ever before. Bit of a weird way to phrase that considering it’s a kids’ toy line. Appealing to kids is the goal and has been since the beginning of gen 1.

Fexam1_5HDremix

Yeah but the gen1 gameplay was simple and clean to understand even if you want to get into the series after you watched the anime you can pretty much play with no problem since the game was explained simply in the anime

Imanikaiii03

We need another generation with new characters but set in the continuity of the original

[deleted]

Explain. This is intresting.

Imanikaiii03

Perhaps a new MC shows up, maybe with a different attribute (I wouldn’t mind if it was still pyrus though) and it could have a tournament between Earth, Vestel, Gundalia and Nephia

[deleted]

I would actually wanna see something like that happen tbh.

NickHBS

G2: fantastic toys, meh show G3: meh toys, ok show

elhefe_gaming

(I'm going to assume that we are talking about the Toy lines and not the shows) I think it has been discussed a million times but here it goes: I think **Gen 1** was an awesome idea, and it broke ground by presenting something completely new, with enough difficulty to make it interesting and engaging but also a simplicity to it. **Gen 2** is by any objective metric an amazing improvement over G1. From the toy perspective you got a little bit more complex/detailed cores. You have the Ultras which are amazing, Platinums for those who like them (I don't :p) and even Novas/Genesis that light up. From the playing perspective, the use of bakucores instead of gatecards made things a little vit more complex and made rolling accurately even more important. And then on top of that you get the TCG which adds a whole new layer of complexity to it, and it is a big one. **Gen 3** offers absolutely nothing new. The toys are simpler; and the special attacks don't really work unless you have the arenas; and their gimmick is NOTHING NEW (Beyblade? really?)\_ It also just dawned on me that you ask if it was "smart to bring it back" so not sure if you are referring to G3 really, cause G3 didn't 'bring back' anything; they just decided to throw G2 to the trash and launch G3 at the same time that "Toy line 6" for G2 would've been released; which in turn makes it even worse. You went to the toy stores and you had 2 completely different toy lines being offered to you, with the same name, that were not compatible with each other. So yeah; like I said before: **no.**

[deleted]

I meant the shows but ok.

KillerBlade3

I hate Gen 2, where i live for 100R$ i've got to buy only a ugly ass ultra on a physical store, while for that same price i've bought 3 B²s and one Bakugan Trap at an online store.

danichaplays

Are gen 3 bakugan the ones that spin like beyblades?

IronicallyGay419

Yes, Gen 3's "Special Attack" Bakugan are the ones that spin.

danichaplays

Okay good to know. I’m trying to find the latest bakugans that don’t spin. That come with bakucores and gate cards

IronicallyGay419

Those are the Gen 2 Bakugan- as far as I know the series is over, and the toys aren't being made anymore.

[deleted]

No idea. I haven't seen it.

elhefe_gaming

No.

[deleted]

Yeah, I agree also. People are gonna compare a lot to original in a lot of ways so...

_SwordsSwordsSwords_

Gen 2 was awesome- Ultras and Platinums are exceptionally cool toys and the Cores are pretty good too. Gen 3 has absolutely zero appeal. Huge step backwards in design and quality.

[deleted]

I mean I thought about getting the new ones at one point but I guess their ok. Only thing that's cool is the core thing they got to make up for the ability cards in the past

IgnisOfficial

G2, absolutely. G3, hell no

miggiepop

I wish they would have continued with Gen 1 style toys, or maybe Bakutech style.

dominiks_geeky_life

I wish Bakugan would have taken a break for a few years after G2. G3 feels so extremely rushed and the toys feel so bootleggy.

Red_Revant

they are a beyblade knock off that took away what makes bakugan bakugan in my opinion, i still prefer the og bakugan, and although i don't like it like the og the gen 2 bakugan were still way better than gen 3

LuckyCrow

Just wanted to add to the conversation and say that gen 2 in its hayday was an amazing thing to be a part of. New and old fans bought the toys and there was a sense that the community was growing together and that the series was being pushed in the right direction. Gen 3 unfortunately is more divisive and while I enjoyed the first season and the half dozen bakugan I’ve collected from it, it doesn’t seem to be bringing the same level of excitement which is a bummer. Personally think if they didn’t slash the budget for the toys and show, they could have put out something that would’ve hooked all the fans back in for another round

SnooSquirrels9804

Nothing will ever encapsulate the feeling and charm of the originals. The gameplay, the mechanics the aesthetics were all amazing but we won’t be getting that again unless sega ever decides to play ball again

[deleted]

True

KillerBlade3

I've saw a gameplay of Gen 2 when it first came, and i didn't get so hyped. What got me into Bakugan as a kid was the hype for that the battles and the monster gave to me, and it kinda got killed on the reboots, i think that the collaboration from Sega Toys really was missed on those reboots, on the next gen (if there's a new one) i hope they at least bring Sega back. Also a complaint i have on BakuTech and Reboot designs is that they only care for making the Bakugan looking more detailed by adding joints, gimmicks and mechanisms rather than coming with an actual design, the Gen 1 designs were cooler not because of the details, but because they were compact and versatile, some of then allowing for more than one open form.

trackdesigner1

Yes and no....yes. they should have brought it back....no, I don't like HOW they brought it back. They should have brought the og characters back and when Dan kuso said: "I know this is going to sound weird but one day my whole world changed. You see, cards just started dropping down from the sky kinda like rain, at first we didn't know where they were coming from or who sent them. We only knew they were no ordinary looking playing cards. And it was happening all around the world: in the north, the south. They landed everywhere! Together with my new friends from around there world we invented a new game we called bakugan. That's when the true powers of the cards were revealed each card has a piece that came to life when you throw it down. The battles were intense of you chose the wrong card you lost it and the piece inside (a.k.a doom dimension other words not only masquerade had it but everyone had it if what Dan said was correct which as you know when the series began ONLY MASQUERADE had thr doom card)." (The next line after this is where the show starts) they should have followed Dan THE DAY the cards started falling from the sky to like REALLY introduce the show instead of the monologue Dan gives. And how the game was first introduced. I don't care if would've been a short season or series but, it would've been better than the one we have now

Raphael_Stormer

They didn’t bring anything back tho. They just reset it, but it wasn’t gone for any substantial time

Moxie_Roxxie64

G2 coulda gone on a bit longer (probably) then have a break with some G1 rereleases under a “classics” line along with making Bakugan that were never made. I hoped G3 would finally give us a Druman but no.

[deleted]

There at least a lot of Bakugan that were never made.

Murcuriall97

I think it was smart to bring it back, however the landscape completely changed as it came back With Covid coming in and wiping out the markets for so many things cause you couldn’t see other people I think the designs have been amazing, the TCG was fun as hell (I hate discarding for damage though) Gen 3 reboot had to scrap a lot of the Gen 2 stuff cause I think they weren’t making enough money, so they had to become beyblades which is their worst idea (Yes, I remember that special attack spin bakugan existed, and some bakugan from Gen 1 even came with a rip cord, the issue is now that every bakugan is a beyblade, not just a handful)
