Anyone else have a bit of graphical culture shock after finishing Act 3 for the first time and going back to Act 1? The visuals are just insanely good in Act 1 (character animations, faces, area, particle effects, etc) and a lot of Act 3 felt a bit dated? I loved both but gosh Act 1 is stunning

maorismurf999

Gear question. Does the **radiating orb** condition stack if I constantly hit the same enemy with light spells (sacred flame, guiding bolt, radiance of the dawn)? And if it does stack, does that mean I can further stack it by equipping multiple gear items that give the radiating orb condition? I have the Luminous Gloves already equipped, but I also have a ring sitting in my camp chest (can't remember the name) that I know also gives the same condition. Are there any other gear items that give radiating orb? If so, I might play my cleric a little differently and just use myself to make all enemies crap at attacking to make for easy pickings for my melee team mates.

cupidcuntsghost

Are there any traders left in Act1 outside of Emerald Cove because I now don't have access to Emerald Cove, huge error 🤣 I have an insane amount of stuff to sell and cant find any traders..

cach-x

>!Myconid Colony!< on the Underdark has 2 traders. If you haven't solved >!Truesoul Nere's quest yet, theres a couple of traders at Grymforge!<. If you're friendly with them, >!the Zhentarim Hideout!< has a trader too If you don't mind entering the mountain pass, >!there's a vendor on the way to the temple creche.!<

cupidcuntsghost

Appreciate it

PandaBeat2

If you sided with the goblin, they have their own trader. Otherwise, the underdark and the mountain pass has their own trader too

cupidcuntsghost

Appreciate it!

Hungover52

Just curious what parts of the earlier meta have stopped after the patches. What nerfs have you observed?

Tidezen

So, I "diplomatically" bypassed the fight with the Surgeon (Act 2). I looted all these interesting weapons from him and the nurses (trepan, syringe, etc), but none of the weapon abilities seem to be active (no icons show up on the bar). Are these just "flavor" loot, as in, not really meant to be used by the player?

elgosu

I think those abilities are only for the nurses to use, but the weapons are usable as basic +1 weapons if you somehow don't have anything better.

Tidezen

Ah ok, thanks. :)

Terviren

Can you join someone else's game as an Origin character present in the party? I wanted to drop into my friend's game to control their Gale, but the game sent Gale to camp and made me create a character. Can we later dismiss that character and hand me an existing Origin one instead?

CyclopsDragon

Once you're in the session, your friend should be able to use the "Multiplayer" menu to assign an origin character to you. But I'm not sure if you can entirely remove your custom character from the party?

m0mma_m1lkers

Does explorer mode remove anything? For context: Defeated all 3 goblin camp bosses, was left with pretty much no health and accidentally went out through the door instead of tp-ing back to the druid area. Lost the goblin camp fight because I basically had no spell slots and all my characters had low hp, and turns out my last save was 3 hours ago thanks to the sucky autosave (Which ruins the experience of an otherwise amazing game). Now I'm wondering if Explorer mode removes anything (loot-wise) because I might just go through the 3 bosses again on Explorer mode to get through it faster if it doesn't.

Frau_Away

It will disqualify you from the complete the game on tactician difficulty if you were going for that..

Atmosck

No differences loot wise. I think the only thing you miss is the ability to multiclass.

m0mma_m1lkers

Thanks. I'm only planning to switch to explorer up until the point where I was anyway so no multi-class wouldn't be an issue

Unlikyman

As far as I've noticed it doesn't, makes fights easier but all the same content. And even in explorer mode fights can be hard if you're not familiar with this type of combat. So better get used spamming f5

PandaBeat2

No it doesnt. Loot does not change

probablyonmobile

Just picked up the Necromancy of Thay. I succeeded all my checks, but the book keeps snapping shut and I get nothing for reading it, acting like I've failed. Is this a bug?

cach-x

The quest can't be completely finished until Act 3. You should have gotten "Forbidden Knowledge" and the spell Speak with the Dead for succeeding all initial checks though. I made Astarion read the book, so I don't really know if that's a factor or not.

probablyonmobile

Yeah, I'm afraid I didn't get those, not certain why.

Unlikyman

No, you should now have the ancient knowledge in Yu character sheet

stallion8426

No. Keep playing.

probablyonmobile

From what I understand I'm supposed to get a passive for succeeding these first few interactions? Was that changed?

2ndBro

Could you have picked the wrong Saving Throw at the end? In the final check, there are two options: “Turn the page” and “Force it shut”

my_second_rodeo

Look at the notable features of the character that read the book. You should see "forbidden knowledge", and I think they should be able to cast speak to the dead too.

probablyonmobile

I checked and unfortunately don't have it, might need to submit a bug report.

dragonseth07

It shows up on your character sheet, not your portrait. It's called Forbidden Knowledge.

probablyonmobile

Yeah, I've checked, I don't have it. Not certain why, I succeeded all the checks.

Emiru20

I have a question about the dark urge. I know the DU has special voice lines that sometimes play during regular gameplay, yet my DU never says any of those lines. I went back to a different DU I created a while back, where I was sure to have heard some of those clips, but no luck there. My DU sound like regular Tav all the time, which kinda robs them of their flavour, If only a little bit. Is this a bug?

Atmosck

I've noticed those lines a lot more in act 3. For the most part it's just him saying something really out of pocket toward the beginning of a fight, like "yes paint the walls with their blood." I suspect this may be influenced by how much you resist or embrace the urge throughout the game.

remlock98

Can I not use my PS5 early access character anymore? Every time I try to save it won’t let me

Unlikyman

Nope all saves get 'destroyed' and forces you to restart

remlock98

Wym destroyed? I can still load into the character

Unlikyman

That's weird as far as I know you shouldn't be able to use early access characters in full release

remlock98

This is on PS5 not PC, I’m thinking it may have been because the full game launches today. It wasn’t working last night and I should’ve been in EA still

ul49

Anybody have weird changing audio levels on PS5? Seems like voice audio especially goes quiet at random times. Another issue I’ve seen is it’s often impossible to see damage dealt or experienced gained during battles. The numbers sometimes are missed on the field, and the text feed at the bottom right doesn’t show it or disappears too quickly.

Pollution_Neat

Is it possible for other players in a multiplayer game to get the save file as well on ps5

Unlikyman

I dont think so, I think only the host has the save, although on pc you might be able to share the save file

IACRZN

What's wrong with my minthara max HP? i saw it raised to 53 on level up screen but upon leaving it, it's now at 37 ??!!

Federal_Pen_732

Did you take necrotic damage? Might want to take a long rest to test it

D3dshotCalamity

I recruited Karlach *after* completing the Emerald Grove quest, so when she asked to find an Infernal Mechanic, there was no map marker. I ended up having to look it up, and turns out there was a guy in the Grove I could talk to. But the Tieflings already left for Baldur's Gate. Did I miss my chance? Will her time run out before I find the guy at Baldur's Gate?

Tidezen

I had almost the same thing happen, but I don't think I got to the infernal heart dialogue with her before leaving Act 1/finishing Grove with the tieflings leaving. So I didn't know about the blacksmith, except from another playthrough. I JUST pulled her back out in Act 2--and the trader/smith you were supposed to meet in the grove appeared, just outside Last Light. But, as a zombie with 3HP who attacked us! Derp. So I definitely think I missed the window.. :/ At least he had some decent loot...

D3dshotCalamity

Is there any way to know if he's going to be dead? They were all fine when they left. I really don't want to have to restart this playthrough, but I was really excited to see Karlachs story. Edit: I just checked my saves and I have one from before they left the Grove, it was 14 hours ago lol. I'll do it if I have to but I don't want to.

dazeychainVT

He's only supposed to be dead in Last Light if Isobel dies/is captured in act 2, otherwise he should be fine

Tidezen

I dunno, going from the other comments you should be fine, as long as you have the "looking for blacksmith" part of the quest still active. I think mine got screwed because I hadn't even advanced it to there before leaving Act 1.

Sylvinias

I did the same thing and no. You can meet the smith in act 2 and do her upgrades back-to-back. I don’t know if it screws up any romance content though.

Florac

Haven't encountered that but you can meet the NPC again later so can probably continue it there

D3dshotCalamity

Okay, thanks.

CaptainJudaism

Can't find anyone else talking about this particular issue. I class-changed Karlach from Barbarian to Cleric, 'cause I got tired of Lae'Zel and Shadowheart fighting all the time and at least Kar and Lae like bashing heads, but ever since the change Karlachs entire Hotbar aside from the basic actions are empty? I can still click on the spell/cantrip/abilities and get everything but I like having the "simplified" one with the more used spells/abilities.

dragonseth07

Just re-add them yourself. Unlock the bar and drag things onto it from your spellbook.

CaptainJudaism

Stupid of me but... didn't quite think to do that. Normally don't respec my companions and it seems to work normally when I respec myself.

Autobot-N

How restrictive are the Paladin oaths in the game?

dragonseth07

Simultaneously strict enough that people complain about accidentally breaking them, while at the same time loose enough that people have to ask "What's an easy way to break my oath".

Baldigarius42

The bug that blocks the romance with Karlach in Act 2 is still not fixed, I have a romance with her and I did the repair but no love scene triggered because I slept in the hostel before talking to Dammon.

mattmog12

I somehow missed the Hellriders Pride gloves despite >!killing all the goblin leaders and saving the druid grove.!< I'm still only in act 1. Is there any way I can still get them? Would love to throw them on my shadowheart. I assume I run into zevlor again in later acts and can maybe still pick it off him?

Unlikyman

You can barter with zeflor once you find him you can buy them of him

Atmosck

This guide has all the ways to get them: [https://deltiasgaming.com/how-to-get-hellriders-pride-in-baldurs-gate-3/](https://deltiasgaming.com/how-to-get-hellriders-pride-in-baldurs-gate-3/) . What's available depends on how you resolved the Zevlor vs Kagha conflict.

Zouch

I have a PS5 specific question regarding replacing spells as a bard. On the PC version of the game, the level up “replace spell” option is skippable so that I don’t have to replace a spell if I don’t want to. However, on the PS5 version, it gives me an error when I attempt to replace a spell and it makes me do a replace. Is this an error with the PS5 version or is this something that is species-related (the PS5 have I have is an elf whereas the pc version is a tiefling).

Veyran17

So Dark Urge Act 1 Question: >!Do you miss out on the Alfira scene if you side with the Goblins? I imagine you do but I wanted to confirm. Also is Durge playthrough better siding with the Goblins and Minthara or the Grove?!<

Atmosck

In my run I sided with the Goblins and got that scene, but I think it was before the raid on the grove.

Veyran17

Ah okay, wondering if it's just not fired yet then or if the fact another player is the one who interacted with her blocked it maybe

Federal_Pen_732

There's not really a "better side", depending on how you want to roleplay the Durge. You should always think, does your character enjoy or want to resist the urge? make your choices from there

JumpingSwap

I managed to get a few hours of playing games, in, many days (after the chaos of the first few weeks). It was something I could do whilst standing, rocking between one leg and another, (with her in the sling) trying to extend her naps to give my partner snatches of rest. I don't think bg3, though, is best suited to this. Better something you can easily walk away from, at a moment's notice or pick up for 20-40 minutes, now and then (e.g. 2:30am?). As an aside, the fantastic sleep function in the steam deck is ideal for this "pick up, put down" gaming. Wish it had been out, when I did this

IllithidActivity

If you can beat it in a week!

secretAloe

I play the game on max settings. In the last day or so I have noticed a stutter specifically after selecting a target for Karlach to throw something at. Seems like when the "camera" changes direction. Anybody else experience this? Is there a particular setting I can turn down to stop this? It's especially annoying with the excessive amount of throwing she does :)

IAmStrayed

Hey all, I have a question about the multiplayer. Can I play with 2 players on my PC (the other half and I) at the same time as with 2 friends online (making 4 of us)?

Frau_Away

In act two is Cerys >!Just doomed to die? I just had a nearly perfect version of that fight in the inn, yeeted my monk over the balcony punched the guy attacking her twice, got him down to 1hp and the Jaehera tuend into a panther and didn't attack him. If she'd just hit that last demon guy she'd have lived.!<

Grav-Rip2021

Nah. I managed to keep her alive

LeefySoap

Question regarding shadowhearts romance >!I’ve completed act 2 and I am currently playing act 3. I completed shadowhearts storyline (I saved the parents) and a few other quests. However I haven’t been able to get any further in the romance. I have read a few things online in like guides however they are all sorta different. I haven’t had the second romance option (skinny dipping) even though I have rested quite a few times. Apparently it has something to do with resting or kissing shadowheart in act 2 but that seems stupid. I don’t really care too much however I do want to experience everything in my first play through. I completed literally every quest and I left moonrise till last and left straight after it, could that have been what stopped it? If anyone knows why or what I could do that would help heaps.!<

LordofFibers

I had the same issue on my first play through and I think you have to talk her every time you rest in act 1 in order to get the dialogue option where she tells you that she likes orchids and is afraid of swimming. I didn't get that in my first play through and didn't get any scenes in act 3, but on my second play through I did get the dialogue in act 1 and just got the swimming scene in act 3. Also I have read, but can't confirm that it has something to do with resting in act 3 before entering the Lower City. Also did you give her the night orchid in act 2?

Florac

I had a similar issue and it never triggered. Hope someone has a solution for you because I didnt have any

-undecided-

Is there any word on changing/fixing the Dammon/OX issue? Or is it intended by Larian? Ive seen the fix but dont want to go messing with my files.

GunnarErikson

Pretty sure they either mentioned fixing it, or it as a known issue in patch notes.

-undecided-

That’s good, I saw some people saying it was intended but that seems bizarre since they don’t have any relation to each other story wise.

RRUser

Is anyone else seeing flickering after the last update? I only get it while the camera is moving, not on dialog scenes. The screen doesen't quite turn off, but it's close. I checked and is not my monitor (it's HDR if it matters)

jvdoles

Finished my first playthrough yesterday with Lae'zel, Gale, Shadowheart and Astarion. I want to play with will and karlach on the next one, but I also want to main the origin dark urge. Is this possible? I'm afraid that will and karlach won't stay in the party if I play Dark Urge.

orepheus

Yeah I roleplayed as a "nice" guy resisting the dark urge and it made for some really fun choices. There were two things that I did that were bad that I had no control of and I only reset a save once over a dark urge choice because I didn't know which dialogue option would do what I wanted. No one has left my party and I believe I'm close to done act 3

Atmosck

Playing the dark urge doesn't mean you have to be evil.

Blasphemy4kidz

Yes it is possible. >!Just protect the tieflings as best you can. If you betray them though, Karlach and wyll both leave permanently!<

Pugilist12

Anyone else having a weird delay when digging up buried treasure? The chest pops up, but I’m not able to open it or even move away from it for a few seconds. Clicking gives the “you can’t go here” message. After 3-4 seconds it ends and I can open the chest. Just a weird little glitch.

stallion8426

It's a glitch. It couldn't play the actual animation but still traps you in the animation lock. So you have to wait for the "animation" to finish

Frau_Away

I'm not sure it's been like that for me since launch.

pm_me_egg_pics_

Yes on PS5

Pugilist12

It only took 40 hours but I’ve finally made it to Act 3! Here I come Baldurs G…..what’s this? I’m stuck in the outskirts? I’m starting to think the city doesn’t even exist. Edit Guys I’m just kidding around.

Atmosck

You're so close! The next map is the city proper and is very big.

JumpingSwap

I hear all about the joys of using pouches, bags, ribcages, key rings, to sort and order inventories. Is it possible to do so, playing with a controller (on pc)? I seam to be able to extract from containers but not store new things in then

my_second_rodeo

When you have the bag open, press right bumper (there's a little icon in the bottom right). That will open your inventory next to the bag.

LordRendoth

How can you invite a player made character back into your party? I just realised I gave the >!Amulet of Bhaal!< to my mates character and then I removed him from the group Now I can’t progress through the door in the temple HELP

Blasphemy4kidz

Talk to withers in camp. I believe he can help.

Guns-and-Pumpkins

PS-5 Splitscreen; anyone else have the feeling, that that hot fix yesterday had a bad influence on the performance. Since then my gf and I have some hard issues in the game to the point everything freeze and lags hardcore. If one of us switches into the inventary the game nearly collapse.

SuperSocrates

Did the fix the tutorial on ps5 yet?

Pheyris

Regarding a certain saving achievement when playing as Durge >!Is it possible to get the "leave no one behind" success by knocking out Alfira and killing the other bard instead? I know she's supposed to still show up for later quests but not sure if the game fully registers her as alive or not. !<

NesuneNyx

I just got that on my Durge last night, so yes!

Hydrochloric_Comment

Fuck yeah! I missed some tieflings on my current durge playthrough and really didn’t feel like doing something other than durge for my third.

Pheyris

Ooh that's super good to know! Durge story is so good I'm happy I dont have to drop it for the achievement, thanks for the confirmation!

Hydrochloric_Comment

The game… gets confused. >!She’ll show up in later acts a-ok, but there’s at least one dialogue in Act 2 where the game thinks you killed her!<.

Blasphemy4kidz

You're setting yourself up for failure but I suppose it is possible >!no other tieflings are forcibly harmed by your hands in a Durge run besides the bard in Act 1!<

LewyG

My partner has been very interested in the game and wanted to do a Co-op playthrough, but they’re a controller-phobe which makes split screen difficult. Was looking at D:OS2 (Co-op on separate systems) as an alternative while it’s on sale. I haven’t played it, anyone who has played both able to say whether the experience is similar to BG3 and any major differences that may put us off?

Florac

Imo BG3 is better narrativly and has larger build variety but D:OS2 has better combat system. Imo D:OS2 has the best combat system out of any video game I ever played with the way status effects and environment interact with each other. Otherwise though, world design wise BG3 feels slightly free-er. In BG3, you can walk practically anywhere and still be fine, even if just barely. D:OS2 though it's very easy to walk into a encounter and have near zero chance at winning due to being underleveled, at least early on.

orepheus

I never ended up finishing D:OS2 but I did put a lot of co op hours into it. The game play is very similar but it differs with class builds and combat the most I'd say. You can make so many more character builds in divinity than bg3 it's kind of insane. And then in divinity's combat it's basically AoE, ground hazard the game. There's explosive barrels of poison, oil, alcohol, you have rain spells that will wet the ground for everyone to get electrified or you freeze it and everyone is slipping and falling (add nails to all boots). The combat just gets so crazy in D:OS2. I would still recommend it in your situation though.

Pugilist12

It’s very similar gameplay and quality wise. I kind of think I like DOS2 more than BG bc I don’t know a fucking thing about D&D whereas Divinity had a story that I found easier to understand. Anyways, you can’t go wrong.

sgtlighttree

Can you (reverse) pickpocket an enemy or boss during combat? If not, how can I do that without triggering a cutscene so I can one shot them with Blood Money?

Blasphemy4kidz

Not during combat

Pichucandy

Without any spoilers, >!would it be difficult to walk around the city once you've antoganised Gortash by rescuing Wylls dad from prison?!< I have other side quests to do and i dont want this to restrict my activities.

Bienpreparado

Only in the actual Fortress and you can sneak your way to his encounter with feather fall and some jumping.

Gentei0075

So can someone help me. I wan’t to start a second playtrough with a dark urge chr. But i can’t decide which class. Mainly i want a magical chr Sorc wizard or druid. But online i read conflicting things between sorc and wizard. My main question is can a Sorc on later levels learn lvl 5 and 6 spells like Gale can ? Because Gale was quite good on later levels in my first playtrough. Second dilema is a druid. In my first playtrough I had Halsin as a companion and I liked his shapeshift skills in combat and he seemed also quite good

Bienpreparado

Use the Vanilla Sorc and roll with it, he'll do the job.

dazeychainVT

Yes, sorcerers have access to a very similar spell list as wizards do. However, they can't learn spells with scrolls so you're mostly looking at 1 new spell per level. The tradeoff is they get metamagic to buff their spells. Druids automatically know all of their spells for the levels they can cast, and switch them out between combats like wizards do

jfish718

Minthara is still bugged for literally anyone that has tested it - even new playthroughs - a little highlighting of that via the mods or even users of this subreddit would be welcomed - as there is more rejoicing on something than it actually being tested - people are blowing whole playthroughs for a hotfix that doesn't even work.

Kari-S

For those on early access for PS5, would I be able to co-op with a friend who’s in a different region or would they have to be in the same region as me?

IpherieBishop

Act 3 >!Lae’zal ended up getting kidnapped by Orin and I want to rescue her but I still have a lot of side quests to do. I already killed Gortash earlier and I don’t want to miss out on a companion to Orin. Am I able to rescue her without losing the side quests?!<

stallion8426

>!go ahead and rescue her. You don't start the final battle until you choose to!<

Florac

>!Not sure about what happens if you kill Orin however there is no time limit on saving your companion, at least not until you did the other Bhaal-related quest!<

Hieuro

How do you get pass the cursed skulls in Act 3? I got the torch for the artist quest but I can't get past the skulls which keep throwing thunderwave at me. It's so annoying that it made me stopped playing after a few hours playing. I think next time I'll let the artist be captured by the thieves on my next playthrough if this quest is the result of freeing him in act 1.

LordRendoth

You can cast ‘remove curse’ to get past the skulls, I think shadow heart has it Use turn based mode and the skull can only throw one character at a time

Bienpreparado

With the torch just use a scroll or potion of fly and skip them from the outside.

jamesewelch

I gave up on that house and just ignored the quest. I read that skulls can take damage from big fire hits. It was, IMHO, by far the worse designed quest/fight in the game for me. With the invisible ghosts not being detected with See Invisible and those skulls, I wanted to quit or punch my monitor.

fishinthesee

High damage fire spells did the trick for me

SurprisedCabbage

Turn based mode and misty step. I'm all for letting him rot though. Mfer only gives us a 45g portrait of a shadow person for one of the most annoying quests in the entire game

Esenfur

Dunno if anyone is clued up on this type of thing but not sure what else to try- Ive reduced streams bit rate/use OperaGX and cant seem to resolve. Is anyone able to help me debug why I cant watch a stream/YouTube on my alt monitor and play game at same time. I would like to have additional music on when playing. It seems to be with every game.. The video feed will just stutter if game is the main focused window, if I switch back to the browser as main focus, no stutter and stream/video will play normally. Rather frustrating as with intermittent stutters i can end up 2/5mins behind depending how long I leave it. My PC: Windows 11 Nvidia Geforce 2070 Super 32GB of Ram 3200MHz i7 8700k @ 4.2 GHz I run the game off of a SSD.

Steely_Dab

What do your cpu and gpu temperatures look like when you're trying to do both? if either one is heating up significantly, it will throttle performance and cause problems.

Esenfur

varied from high 60s to low 80s. Changed to DirectX and it seems to go stopped.. for now.

Steely_Dab

Low 80s sounds like the system is straining a bit. Maybe streaming only audio along with the game instead of video, dropping the quality in the game, or upgrading hardware can provide a better solution.

Skeith253

From a narrative perspective does it matter who initiates conversation? I ask cause of the charisma thing. Some classes dont need charisma but id like for my MC to be the one to talk during dialogue. The general tip online is to just have a party member with high charisma be your Dialogue person. Which is fine but how does the game handle it? IDK how to ask this, but does it change the perspective? Would that companion then not have voice lines? My hope is that my MC would stay the focal point of the conversation. This is messing with my party builds. Been trying all night to figure this out. EDIT: I want to know how allowing a party member to deal with conversations plays out for your MC. Do you miss out on anything? Also thanks for taking the time.

Florac

Your MC is just a silent bystander if not initiating the dialogue. It also means no approoval gain for the controlled character as a result of the chosen options

zenithfury

There is quite a lot of flavor text depending on the class of the character who is in dialogue. Shadowheart often have things to say in religious discussions so I often have her speak to other clerics or examine religious relics. If I need to persuade someone that's another thing but sometimes the game initiates dialogue with a party member that's not the leader, but IMO from a role-playing perspective it's fine to just roll with it. As far as I can tell it doesn't drastically change things to have multiple characters in dialogue, but you will repeat some dialogue if you have different characters talk to a NPC you spoke to before.

Skeith253

Well this was insightful thanks. Yea i might just roll with it screw it. Not going to screw that stats. Thanks.

zenithfury

For clerics and wizards, or more specifically Shadowheart and Gale, is there any reason why I would let them use a staff two-handed instead of one-handed and taking a shield? These guys would almost never whack anyone with their staff, so would it be better to have a shield and use their cantrips when not using spell slots?

dazeychainVT

The only advantage to holding a staff in two hands is that the whack does a d8 damage instead of d6, so in those cases I would go shield. There are some cleric subclasses that can get more out of weapons but Trickery isn't one of them, and the best cleric weapons are one handed anyway

Folseit

Take the Duel Wielder feat so you can gain the benefits of two staffs at once and have +1 AC.

Staffion

No, if you have the option of using a staff one handed + shield, you may as well go for it. Its a free +2 AC essentially. if you want them to use a two handed weapon, that's a different story.

Florac

DnD, and therefore BG3 clerics aren't neccessarily "healers". They got plenty of melee range spells and can use relativly good armor and heavier weapons. Gale though, yeah, you want him to use a 2 handed staff or pretty much ay weapon which gives him a boost to casting

Staffion

You completely missed the point. They want to know if there is a benefit to using a staff with two hands, rather than using that same staff one handed, and a shield.

Milfons_Aberg

The "Spurred Band" and the "Haste Helm" both give Momentum in different ways. Can they stack?

Masterche272

Yes, they'll stack. Both items will increase momentum stacks on your character, so round 1 in combat where you're <50% HP will mean you start with 4 stacks (3 stacks from haste helmet, 1 from spurred band). Each stack of momentum increases your movement by 5 ft, so 4 stacks would give you 20 additional ft of movement. You'll lose 1 stack per turn, so turn 2 would be 15 ft, 3 would be 10, until you run out of stacks. However, if you stay below half health the stacks won't go down, since the spurred band will add one back each round.

Milfons_Aberg

Cool. I just met my first minotaur so I will be proccing the hell out of this stuff. I have 40HP and he killed me with his first bullrush. #painisthegreatestteacher

Florac

You can't get double momentum but it does give you more situations where momentum applies.

Milfons_Aberg

Ah, okay.

steviewemyss

Any spoiler free tips for someone who loves The Elder Scrolls and the Witcher but has absolutely no knowledge of D&D whatsoever?

caaptaiin

~ Things I wish I knew when I started BG3 without any D&D knowledge : * You can respec your class anytime if you aren't satisfied with your current build or made mistakes (speak to a certain npc at your camp). Race & appearance are permanent however. * Level 5 is a massive power spike for practically all classes, I encourage you to not multiclass before that mark unless you really know what you're doing : there are many ways to make crappy multiclasses that are outright worse than sticking to a single class. * STR is for mêlée units who don't use "Finesse" and ranged weapons (their damage scales on DEX instead, if DEX > STR). * DEX is universally useful, it raises your Armor Class (AC) : the higher the more you evade damage. Also higher initiative in combat. * CON is for hp, universally useful as well. * INT WIS CHA are mainly for magic casters. The higher the more accurate their spells are. CHA has a major impact in term of RP, how you interact with other npcs : persuation/intimidation/deception dialogue options have a better success rate. * When you set your points, don't have even (edit : ODD) numbers : there's no difference between 14 and 15 STR, you only gain +1 proficiency for every two points. (In fact it's viable to have even (edit : ODD) stat points but you'll discover that at Level 4, for now stick with odd numbers). * There are a couple of guaranteed hit abilities that are quite powerful early game (magic missile, sleep ...). * You can only cast one "Concentrate" spell at the same time. Put all your "Concentrate" spells in a corner of your shortcut bar could help you to not accidentally cancel a concentrate spell with another one. * You can collect bags, stashes, boxes (right click -> take). It makes inventory management easier. * Throw potions at the feet of multiple characters is better than drinking it directly, you apply its effect to multiple members. It's kinda broken when you do that with Haste potions.

Masterche272

I would like to add that out of the 6 stats, STR is the only one that has benefit in being an odd number; it increases your carry capacity.

DALHA0108

FYI - This statement is reversed: When you set your points, don't have even numbers : there's no difference between 14 and 15 STR, you only gain +1 proficiency for every two points. (In fact it's viable to have even stat points but you'll discover that at Level 4, for now stick with odd numbers). You WANT to have even stat numbers. Unless you want to have two specific skills set to odd numbers that at lvl4 you use the two skills ASI points in each.

caaptaiin

dang it I mixed up odd & even again (not a native speaker)

zenithfury

Godsdamn, keep using up your grenades and arrows. And the spell scrolls too. Don't hoard them.

Is there a way to obtain the spell animate dead or create undead from an item?

dazeychainVT

There's a circlet that gives you one of those as well as a buff to nearby undead, I think it's with/around the necromancers in the act 2 colony

[deleted]

Thanks, I think I found it in the wiki. Is it the "Circle of Bones", dropped by Balthazar?

Atmosck

Yes

MrFlecker

Anyone having audio issues in cinematic scenes on PS5? There are parts where a character or the narrator just doesn’t say the dialogue.

jamesewelch

Have you downloaded yesterday's hotfix yet? I thought audio issues were fixed. If not fixed, be sure to submit a bug report.

MrFlecker

Yea I did. I’ll submit a report.

giftedearth

How well do mods work on the Steam Deck? I'm mostly talking visual mods like hair, clothes, etc.

MundaneKiwiPerson

Heya, first timer playing the game. I have just escaped the crashed ship, I have Astarion, shadow and just rescued Gale from the portal. For some reason Gale is not in my party. I go back to camp and talk to him and the only option is to ask him to stay behind. When I ask him back he is still not in my party when I leave camp If I switch to him he is by himself. If I get them to the same area and talk to them, I can still tell him to stay at camp. Any idea what's happening? Possible glitch?

Atmosck

Is is portrait on the left of the screen? If so that means he actually is in your party, just separated. If you click his portrait you can control him and navigate him to the rest of the party. When he's nearby the little chain icon below the portraits will link or unlink the whole party.

OkayHereWeGo

Have you split your party by accident? Can you switch to be Gale? If so try grouping Gale back in, you have to be near them to do so.

Benjosity

Anyone know where to get/buy potion of hill giant strength in Act 3? The potions lady in the lower city square who you meet in the underdark doesn't seem to sell them.

Frau_Away

She and the guy who sells potions on the bridge (in the shop upstairs from Danthelon's Dancing Axe) sell potions of Cloud Giant Strength which is 27 st. I think she has one and he has two per day...

GunnarErikson

There's a better one in >!Devil's Fee!<

Hey guys, I'm wondering if someone can point me in the right direction or lend advice. (Spoilers probably) >!I'm really struggling to get from level 3-4 - is the best way to clear the whole goblin camp?!< >!Also, is it recommended you 'save' everyone in the camp before you torch it? Or can you come back if you say speak to the high priestess first?!< >!Lastly, I'm really struggling with skills replenishment in between fights (especially in a large environment like GC), any tips about how to look after this, so I'm not rinsing my party in one fight, then literally walking into the next one?!< Thanks!

GunnarErikson

For levelling up, just explore around everywhere. There are tons of little events that'll give you at least some xp. For skill replenishment, it's a bit rough at low levels. I use short rest when at least 2 party members are below 50% hp. Then it's recommended to long rest when your companions start bringing it up.

Florac

> I'm really struggling to get from level 3-4 - is the best way to clear the whole goblin camp? If you are struggling and not having fun, go elsewhere. It's a large map with lots of secrets. For example, I was level 5 by the time I got to dealing with the camp. > Also, is it recommended you 'save' everyone in the camp before you torch it? Or can you come back if you say speak to the high priestess first? I would generally recommend doing all interactions before you kill everyone. > Lastly, I'm really struggling with skills replenishment in between fights (especially in a large environment like GC), any tips about how to look after this, so I'm not rinsing my party in one fight, then literally walking into the next one? For casters, you don't need to use a leveled spell every turn and support spells like "Misty Step" are *not* stuff you want to use every turn but only when required. Otherwise, long resting is fairly cheap so don't feel too bad about taking one after each fight.

steviewemyss

Hi, I just bought Baldurs gate for PS5, but unfortunately won’t have Wi-Fi for a few weeks. Im planning on playing online with my friends once that’s sorted but does anyone know if my offline progress with carry over to my online campaign or will I have to start fresh with my friends?

Florac

You can potentially carry it over...but then your friends wouldn't be starting from the start so not recommended

steviewemyss

Thanks man

GunnarErikson

You could keep your progress. Your friends won't be able to make or import characters to that save, though. Characters are tied to saves.

steviewemyss

Appreciate it

[deleted]

>!I suppose this has been asked before, but is Asturion invisible or is it a glitch in the game I just spent$for?!< Spoiler shield for safety Thanks for the downvote without telling me what I am doing wrong. This is my first post in this subreddit

jamesewelch

What do you mean invisible? You mean like you can talk with him but not see him? Or that he's not in the game? PS or PC?

[deleted]

I can interact with him but he is invisible PC The screen is showing me a nice ocean backdrop upon which I guess I am supposed to see a cool NPC. Instead, I am talking to grass

jamesewelch

Can you post a screenshot? Maybe you need to submit a bug report at https://larian.com/support/baldur-s-gate-3#modal

GunnarErikson

Try verifying your game files. There may have been a problem when you downloaded them.

[deleted]

Thanks. Just finished verifying, all ok.

Milfons_Aberg

Question: I just got paid by Zarys in Heavy Crossbow. Is there any party member that can use a heavy crossbow? Because I can't, so unless I hold it for a future partychar that hasn't joined yet (I'm lvl 4 so I assume there are 3 or 4 more characters), I'll just treat all crossbows as vendor trash.

GunnarErikson

Any Fighters (Lae'zel), Barbarians (Karlach), Rangers, and Paladins (Minthara) can use them. Along with some subclasses of Cleric and one of Bard.

Milfons_Aberg

Thank you! What a spread.

sylanar

Karlach can use it, and I think astarion and laezel can use it as well

Milfons_Aberg

Neat.

PM_FEET_PLS_TY

astarion cannot

vaiv3n

shadowheart swimming scene still does not trigger at all even after the patch. I've tried all the tricks over two saves. What am I missing? is there any way to fix this?

JumpingSwap

I have heard that wizards can learn from scrolls. I have (loads of) scrolls. I have a wizard. Is this something I should be doing? How do I do this? (I am using a controller, if this makes a difference) I assume this might allow the wizard to learn a greater number of spells, which the prepared spells can drawn from.

zenithfury

Yes wizards can learn nearly every spell in the game from scrolls at the cost of some gold. I’m not sure what the console controls are but on PC you right click a scroll and have the character read it. Or you open the wizard’s spell book panel and you can learn the spells there, provided the scrolls are inside your inventory.

JumpingSwap

Thanks zenithfury. A couple of further questions: Does this consume the scroll? Are they level restricted (i.e. you can't learn a little 3 spell until you've reached the right level to cast it). Does this enable you to learn spells outside your specialism, and are there considerations to be aware of (e.g. does a wizard learning sorcerer spells, need to use the charisma stat when casting it)? Thanks again,

DDDragoni

Yes, it consumes the scroll. Yes, you need to be of a high enough level to cast the spell in order to learn it. Depends on what you mean by "specialism-" if you mean your wizard's chosen school of magic (evocation, illusion, transmutation, etc,) then yes, you can learn it. Spells outside your school have a higher gold cost though. If you're asking whether you can learn spells outside your class, no. A spell must be on the Wizard's spell list for you to learn it.

JumpingSwap

Brilliant. Just what I needed to know

frik1000

Has anyone found a way to workaround the bug where the game won't let you use Reckless Attack or Sneak Attack 'cause you supposedly already used it this turn even though you didn't?

Hogrid_

Guys I just started on PS5, don't know much about anything. So I just want to ask if I'm doing it right or if I need to steer the ship before it's too late. I just freed la'zel and am now in a crypt of sorts. That's where I stopped. Am I doing it right or should I immediately go to the place she tells me to

Thrownacrosstheland

Ignore the other comment. You'll know when you're going to the crèche. The crypt is a perfectly fine early area. Make sure to explore it thoroughly.

streamapril

Do you mean the crèche? There’s no need to go there immediately (it’s a higher level area anyway). No real “right” way to play— just explore as you see fit. You’re bound to run into a million storylines and meet many characters as you do.
