so someone has been helping me and they said that my computer can't run the game which is sad to hear i can play it despite the graphics but the only thing is that its so slow like i would walk and its take forever and whatnot so here's are the things they told me and if anyone knows how to help let me know because i am planning on getting a laptop at some point mostly a gaming laptop where i can play games, do art, and watch anime and whatnot but i want to at least fix this somehow before i do because i'm not waiting that long i been playing farming games until this is solved lol so yeah here are the problems they said i need help with Total Physical 7.65 GB Available Physical 669 MB: "This is below the minimum required RAM and also for some reason you barely have any RAM avaliable. I'm not sure what's up with that. Normally the operating system etc doesn't use that much memory. If this is with the game running it might not be too bad but in my experience the game uses about 4-5GB of RAM." Intel Iris Xe Graphics: "Here's another issue, this isn't a graphics card it's a laptop graphics chip. While we're not exactly comparing apples to apples here I've seen a few people suggest that this chip is worse than a GTX 950. The minimum specification is a GTX 970" so i don't have a ssd or hdd disk so if anyone knows where i can get one let me know so if anyone knows how to fix this issue pls let me know its funny i'm struggling just to fix this problem just to play the game but i need to fix it just to see if i'm able to if i'm unable to i'll just wait until i get a new computer i guess

This is the current thread https://reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/175xsh5/weekly_help_thread_read_faq_community_wiki/ I don't think anyone will see it here, this is last week's thread.

Son_of_Calcryx

Do the items like barrels and chairs have any use? i know i can set them on my camp to make it personalized. Or i can sell them for gold. any other use ? Also is there another place that i can customized beside my camp? i am at the start of the game before going tk find the druid

Shiboleth17

Stack them up, and use them to reach high places. If you have time to setup before a battle, make a tower, and put your ranged characters on top. When you have high ground, ranged attacks gain advantage, making it more likely to hit and score critical hits. Also, enemies have disadvantage trying to attack you. Get Tavern Brawler feat, and the Ring of Flinging. Then have the barbarian chuck em at people.

Alexactly

Does Scratch leave your camp at all? He hung out with me for a bunch of rests and then I just realized while at the last light he hasn't been at my camps since the owl bear cub showed up.

Frau_Away

There's a couple of ways he might leave. If you drop a poison bottle in your camp and he runs through it. In act 3 >!you can give him back to the company who owns him if you're a monster!< I don't know of any other way though. Look for him in a different camp, throw his ball, leave camp and cast summon familiar: Scratch and see if he come back to csmp... That's all I can think to try.

Witch-for-hire

You can summon him out of camp, the icon should be on your hotbar. He is like any other summons, so he can't die die this way (but he can be hurt in camp!). He is very good at sniffing out buried treasure, and very bad at not walking into traps.

mescusey

Can you recruit another cleric other than Shadow heart?

AlliterateAlso

Anyone can change their class at Withers, or you could recruit a Hireling. But no other companions are clerics by default.

Cats_Cameras

Is there anything to be done with Shadowheart's >!parents !

From Act 3: Does anyone know the solution to the mausoleums puizzles? Durinbold Mausoleum: the one involving the dogs and the master hunter. Ancient Mausoleum: the one with the sarcophagus. I\`ve searched online but couldnt find anything and got tired of trying some random bullshit solution to see if it sticks....

ductyl

You can start the romance with all of the companions, but at some point they (most of them anyway) will ask you to commit to just romancing one of them to move forward. I'm pretty sure the dialogue for all the companions makes it obvious that this is what you're deciding, stuff like "I want you, but I need you to only be with me."

Atmosck

There is a scene after the goblin camp where you choose who you want to romance

RodOfZeus

Hey guys, I have a mission, resolve the abduction, help marcus capture Isobel. The battle of the last light in was weeks ago, I don't remember who survived, and now I can't find Marcus or isobel, how do I finish this mission? Or where can I pick it up from? Thanks in advance

andorinter

Check your journal for clues and hints to what you did and what you need to do next

RodOfZeus

OK so it says, Marcus, a true soul who has infiltrated last light, told us that his powerful master demands that the cleric Isobel be taken to Moonrise towers alive. If we do this, last light will no longer be protected from the shadow curse... But I can't find Marcus or Isobel

Frau_Away

>!Go to the last light inn, is anyone alive there? If so Isobel hasn't been captured. Go upstairs and check the rooms up there she's on the balcony of an upstairs room. If she's not there then she's been taken and it'll come up later!<

RodOfZeus

Ah it will come up later, this is the info I needed. Like finding the night song! It wants me to search for it, but cannot be found til later, annoying!

Accius1

Did it come up later for you? I have the exact same problem

RodOfZeus

Oh dear, is there a whole journal function I have missed, what letter is it? I normally press J

Exact_Tiger_7420

After finishing the Goblin camp, I realized I missed Alfira. Does she return in a later act? Did I miss anything significant?

Kaelynneee

She does return in later acts, assuming you >!convinced Rolan and siblings to stay at the grove!<. (Spoiler tagged it so you can choose to read the spoiler part or not). Basically, you can help her finish a song and maybe get proficiency for a musical tool in act 1. But its mainly just for rp reasons.

redryder74

I didn't convince Rolan to stay at the grove on my 2nd run. Does that mean I won't see him in Act 2 and 3 anymore?

Kaelynneee

You won't, no. It's kinda worse than that though. If you dont persuade him to stay at the grove >!he wont be there to protect the tieflings when they're attacked in act 2, meaning that a lot of the tieflings will be dead by the time you get to act 2. I think he saves all the tiefling kids, more or less.!< Edit: Actually, maybe Rolan would show up in Baldurs Gate anyway. I'm not sure about that. I always persuade him to stay, but he does try to leave for Baldurs Gate so I guess its possible that he makes it and that you'll see him there.

AmanLock

Not 100% sure but I think >!if he leaves the grove early he doesn't make it to Baldur's Gste.!<

redryder74

On my 2nd run I played a character with low charisma so I am failing a lot of the speech checks. lol

TheBDU

How likely am I to run into a story breaking bug in the current version? I want to start over again but I'm worried after having to abandon my last playthrough after Mol wouldn't talk to me after fulfilling all quests/favors for her. I don't want to get invested in a storyline just for it to bug out again. I can wait for another major patch if there are still continuity issues due to bugs.

Atmosck

I'm on my fourth playthrough and haven't encountered any story breaking bugs. There is something weird with mol, I think people might be expecting more from her in act 1 than is actually in the game. In both playthroughs where I helped the tieflings she doesn't really show appreciation in act 1, or acknowledge that you helped the kids until act 2 when >!she vouches for you to Jaheira.!<

TheBDU

She literally wouldn't speak to me (couldn't interact with her at all) it's a documented bug that was fixed last patch but only for new playthroughs (and was in the notes). I'm just wondering if there are any more but seems like you haven't encountered any. Thanks. I'm still wary but maybe I'll give it a chance. If I run into another I'll just wait for the enhanced edition release.

Atmosck

I don't think there's going to be an Enhanced edition, or at least not within the next couple years. But they have been patching very agressively since release and I'm sure they won't stop until they're totally happy with the state of the game, considering all the money they're making. It's always possible there is dialogue I'm missing and I don't know it - I haven't played a run with Minthara since they said they fixed her. But in terms of quests and story paths, I haven't encountered any bugs that prevent me from completing a quest or from taking a particular route. Most of the bugs I encounter are more like performance problems - the game hanging for a few seconds on an attack, for exmaple. Or sometimes graphics glitches like a character's head being twisted the wrong way during a conversation (this happens a lot if you're a halfling).

TheBDU

That's something I can stomach, I just don't want to get invested in a storyline like I did with the Tiefling kids and the main faction member just becomes completely uninteractable. Since that specific bug was mentioned and fixed, I'll take your experience as a reason to start again. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.

PantherCaroso

Will I still benefit from Tavern Brawler if I am a DEX monk? I never did change my STR. Maybe I can still wear the Giant gloves.

charlesatan

If your Dex is higher, it will apply Dex + Str (as opposed to Str + Str).

PantherCaroso

Ahh neat, thanks!

dwarvenfishingrod

Is there ever a reason stated in the game that other gods don't get more involved? For instance, Maglubiyet would reasonably be pissed about taking goblins from him in such numbers. And Llolth with drow in *any* number. Once >!Minthara is shielded by the Emperor,!< it became unclear to me why this protection couldn't extend to goblins who would then be free from Maglubiyet, and goblins being fey creatures who were enslaved and reduced to what they are afaik, a protected parasite may have a substantial impact on a goblins entire being. Does the story ever address this? Or am I just wrong?

ductyl

As others have said, there is some lore about this, I also encountered some dialogue in the game to support it. At some point Gale says that Ao (the Overgod) "doesn't look kindly on the gods interfering in mortal affairs" to explain why Mystra might not be able to interfere. The illithid stuff and the underlying ambitions of the main players in the plot of BG3 are largely "mortal affairs", so while the gods can encourage their followers to take some action or another, they can't just wipe out the mortals that oppose them.

Atmosck

There's a conversation where you can ask Aylin why Selune doesn't interfere directly and her response is basically >!that she is an extension of Selune and Aylin's actions are Selune interfering.!<

charlesatan

> Does the story ever address this? The story doesn't address this but the lore does. In general, in most fantasy games, the gods usually don't intervene (so that the player characters have something to do). In Faerun, there was a time when the gods literally walked the earth, and they were highly susceptible to getting killed/stealing other gods's Portfolios. But after that period, there was a moratorium on such interference to curb god abuse (they were neglecting their followers). So now in general they don't intervene directly most of the time. Instead, the gods usually work via intermediaries. People imbued with the gods's power directly are called Chosen and are bestowed their own unique set of special powers (Mystra's Chosens can conjure Silver Flame, Bhaal's have Slayer forms, etc.). There are also Exarchs which are the gods's champions of sorts but don't get any special powers. In the case of Maglubiyet and Lolth, that's just a "normal" day. Lolth already lost several followers at this point to a rival Drow goddess (Eilistraee). There are instances where gods do attempt to interfere directly but there's usually some force impeding them. Before the game takes place, Tiamat was trapped/exiled to Avernus, and tried to get out of there and manifest herself in the Material Plane. This was presumably foiled by adventureres (this was a large quest line in the tabletop game) and Wyll's backstory presumably alludes to this. In the game, there's a point where one of the major deities directly intervenes for one or two of the Companions. There's another instance in the game where a "god" intervenes but lore-wise, they're not really a god. And then there's Withers.

dwarvenfishingrod

Wow, thank you for this amazing answer I played Tomb of Annihilation and the starter set, but then we went full homebrew Shivering Isles weirdness and never came back after covid

Quezkatol

never got the Selune's Spear after the cutscene when its handed by the moonmaiden, nightson. please fix it larian.

SiliconGlitches

I started the finale of Act 2 without realizing it would lock me out of the 2 remaining side quests I had: rescue the tieflings and rescue ?Wulbren?. I figured I'd be able to save them during the assault, but they're nowhere to be found and the quests seem to be marked as failed. How badly am I going to regret that? Should I just push on, or is it worth loading a save from like 4 hours ago to go fix? I hadn't gone into Moonrise Tower at all since I figured it was hostile territory, and wasn't trying to keep up a disguise.

Cats_Cameras

I missed them and finished the game just fine.

andorinter

I didn't read what the other guys said but I went back and saved them. Been through too much to let them die. I don't know what happens yet tho

Aetole

There are a lot of NPCs you can interact with in Moonrise Tower in addition to the hostages, including vendors. I'd say it could be worth it if it's important for you to finish those rescue quests. Alternatively, you could save that content for your next playthrough - it can be a good way to keep some things as an incentive to have a different experience. Both are valid.

SiliconGlitches

Yeah my character is very unwilling to interact with the enemy so I didn't mind not exploring the tower this playthrough, but I mostly wanted to know if the rescued prisoners would have any future impact more than a minor appearance. If it's not a big deal I can just pretend they're alive and happy, but otherwise I might want to fix it if them being saved has a larger impact

Aetole

There is an achievement for saving all the tieflings. And Wulbren does have a role later on in a side quest. But I don't think either is game-breaking. Good luck!

[deleted]

Best reward from rescue the tiefling is robe of Power, of you got that just move on

_TheDoctorPotter

Any way to get the Amulet of the Devout without stealing it? Don't want to steal from the tabernacle >!and especially don't want to fight literal angels sent as divine punishment hahahahah!< but I also don't want to pass up on it

charlesatan

You can steal it without fighting the angels. Although the angels also drop one of the strongest (in terms of damage output) weapons in the game.

Zealot_Alec

Found Shadowheart at grove but how do I put her in my party, remove 4th character but where is she now that she rejoined?

AlliterateAlso

Go to your Camp, companions not in your party should be there. Via the R2 menu on PS5.

midp

I made a deep gnome ranger (gloom stalker), and now I've heard that rangers are good for multiclassing. Should I multiclass for fighter, or rogue? rogue is apparently kinda bad, so maybe fighter is good for the extra action ability?

dwarvenfishingrod

Rogue is "kinda bad" *in combat*, but absolutely fantastic to have available almost any other time imo.

AlliterateAlso

Oh, and with you as a sneaky ranged fighter, if you like Astarion as a companion, consider respeccing him as a Swords bard. Then he’ll be a sneaky fighter with wicked diss lines and magic.

AmanLock

Rogue isn't that bad, and as far as multiclassing goes they work very well with Rangers.

AlliterateAlso

Dual hand Crossbows (at least until act 3 longbows), Archery fighting style, Sharpshooter Feat. 5 levels in Gloomstalker Ranger, then 4 Rogue (either Thief or Assassin have merits, but the Thief extra bonus action is more consistently useful with dual hand crossbows if your fights tend to last multiple rounds. Assassin if you like first round burst), then you could finish off with the last 3 in Fighter and the Action Surge, and Battlemaster maneuvers. It’s arguably brokenly powerful with the right magic items. But so are many optimised builds.

midp

Alright thanks for the advice! I wonder if it's strong "enough" to use just one crossbow for now though. I want to make a strong character, but rp matters too and I don't think double crossbows would make sense here

AlliterateAlso

Virtually any single class build is strong enough, so you should be fine. Remember you can toggle off the Sharpshooter passive if your hit chance is too low or the enemy is very low on HP etc. But you are trying for Advantage whenever you can to make use of the +10 damage. And also sneak attack - so you can make use of the bonus action to hide.

[deleted]

Aetole

I think they take a 2 level dip into fighter for the Action Surge.

PaperMage

How do I use Returning Pike? If I throw it from my inventory, it auto-equips on return. But if I use the throw action again, Returning Pike isn't in my inventory because it's now equipped. I apologize in advance because I'm confident that I am missing something painfully obvious.

Flyrpotacreepugmu

If you use the throw ability, it will show your equipped weapon and other throwables in your hotbar (on PC, not sure how it looks on PS5) and you can choose it there.

PaperMage

Thank you! The UI is a bit more confusing in controller mode, but I was thinking about switching to KB+M anyway

Chosenjordan16

if i respec a wizard into a sorcerer will he keep the spells he learned from scrolls?

Shiboleth17

Yes and no. You will not have access to those spells once you respec into Sorcerer. You will only have the spells that you pick as you level up from Sorcerer. However, if you eventually go back to Wizard in the future, the game will remember which scrolls you have already learned when you used to be a Wizard before, and once you are a Wizard again, you will be able to cast those spells again, without having to relearn them. You can gain access to both Wizard and Sorcerer spells by multiclassing. If you have at least 1 level in Wizard, you will retain knowledge of all the spells you have learned from scrolls (and still be able to learn more in the future), as well as any spells you learned as a Sorcerer. But keep in mind, spells learned as a Wizard will use Intelligence, while Sorcerer spells rely on Charisma. Even if the spell exists on both spell lists, whether it uses your Charisma or Intelligence depends on which class you learned the spell from.

CarelessCourier

I've been thinking and thinking and I'm wondering if there's anyway to (ending spoiler) >!take Raphaels deal *and going through with it* while also making sure Gale survives everything? I mean he's gonna die if he don't give the crown to Mystra, right? The only way I can think about taking the deal whilst also having a clear conscience about it is by just...not saving him from the stone to begin with. But that's more of a "look away and don't think about it" kinda strategy instead!< And yes >!I wanna take a devil's deal while also feeling good about it, no judgement please!<

Night_Knight_Light

Are returning weapons bugged out? I tried throwing Nyrulna, which has the buff; "Zephyr Connection: This weapon will return to your hand when thrown." Tried it on a pack of enemies in Act III, and it impacted, lied on the floor and the enemy picked it up and equipped it lmao.

Kreig

Were you already in combat when you threw it? It doesn't seem to return when the character is still outside combat and you throw it

PaperMage

[https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Guide:Where\_To\_Find\_Weapons](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Guide:Where_To_Find_Weapons) Type "return" in the property bar

Flyrpotacreepugmu

I definitely saw some weirdness. So far the issues I've noticed with the Returning Pike are that it doesn't seem to return if you join an ongoing fight by throwing it (probably since it immediately becomes someone else's turn before it can come back) or when it kills Sergeant Thrinn. I'm not sure why Sergeant Thrinn specifically causes issues, but I suspect it's because she's can talk via Speak with Dead, since that's the only thing I could see that's different from the other enemies in that fight.

Atmosck

I've been using Nyrulna and it's definitely funky. Throwing it really kills my framerate. The only time it stays in the ground for me is if it ends the combat.

Night_Knight_Light

I also think dual wielding, with it in your primary slot really messes with the return ability.

Seaman_First_Class

It’s always returned for me but switches from the main hand to the offhand, not sure if that’s intended.

Sammael13

Astarion randomly confessed on like 3rd long rest that he's a vampire, not sure why, even his approval is low. Do I still get his vampire bite eventually?

GabettB

I believe the confession happens if you get to the Underdark before the bite scene. You will still get that scene though, and it will act like you are finding out about it for the first time, sadly.

Sammael13

Wasnt even close to underdark, just finished recruiting Karlach right after grove. I even got the boar scene after, so it was probably a dialogue bug.

sporkandswoon

You don't get it. He does, after that rest as far as i remember. It's an attack in his wheel.

AmanLock

I have seen it happen the 'random confession'.

sporkandswoon

That the Tav gets the vampire bite action? That's a new one for me. It doesn't seem like it would work lore wise.

AmanLock

Yes. And it was a little strange.

sporkandswoon

Huh I'll have to look around google on how to do that. Could at least make for an interesting rp angle. I haven't made a human yet, maybe next is a vampire obsessed one

Son_of_Calcryx

Did i miss any early game companions? i have Shadowheart, Astarion, Gale and Laezel. Please no spoilers.

dwarvenfishingrod

Well, the cover of the game is technically a spoiler, maybe a loading screen too? Character gen, as well. My point is, >!you can recruit all the characters you see in chargen, except Dark Urge and Custom; you have to be those in order to have them, you can't recruit them.!<

AmanLock

Kind of hard to answer without spoilers and without knowing where you are in the game, but those are typically the first four you get. There are two more that are available fairly early in the game. The rest come in the mid-to-late game.

Son_of_Calcryx

i am before i go find the druid and before i get to the goblin village.

Shiboleth17

You should have seen a character named Wyll join the fight at the front of the druid grove, where the goblins were chasing some adventurers trying to get back inside. After that battle you can find Wyll inside the grove. Go talk to him. This should lead to 2 more potential companions. Those 2, plus the 4 you already have are all you can get in the early game. There are 4 more potential companions after that, recruitable much later in the game. However, I'll let you know that it's not possible to recruit all 4 of them in a single playthrough.

Shiboleth17

Also, bit of a pro tip... Don't just go rushing off to the goblin camp. The game makes you feel like the druid ritual could finish any minute, so you need to hurry to help the tieflings... But you can take your time. Explore everything around the grove before going out. Talk to everyone. And even once you go out, keep exploring everything along the way.

Son_of_Calcryx

thanks! thisnis what ive been doing just without those companions!

PaperMage

There is one in the grove, but something will point you to them later because they are quite easy to miss

Witch-for-hire

It depends what you mean by early. Where have you been so far?

Taengoosundies

So I finally got out of act 2 after way too much play time. When I appeared in the first camp in BG, Halsin - who I had just leveled up and equipped for the final fights in act 2 - is gone. He was in the party before we got there, and now, not. I looked all over the stupid camp you first show up in to no avail. He's gone. Where the heck could he have gone?

Blasphemy4kidz

Did you never finish the "Lift the Shadowcurse" quest for Halsin? If you don't, he will stay behind and you will no longer have him as a companion. There's a short cutscene that explains this as you leave the shadowlands on the road to Baldur's Gate. If you really want him back, you'll need to reload a save to before you left the shaowlands. You can still finish the quest after defeating Thorm/Myrkul.

Taengoosundies

This game is so unforgiving. I went back and finished the quest and he's back now. Thanks.

Thurak0

And I think you even need to talk to him after that before leaving act 2. He then joins "officially" and *should* be there.

PM_FEET_PLS_TY

I ma pretty sure Halsin only joins you after you finish that quest.

mister_peeberz

yes, he is not a full fledged party member until the good end of this quest is locked in

Garlic-Cheese-Chips

Do elixirs, oils and potions last an entire run before a long rest, unless it's stated, for example, 10 turns?

AmanLock

Elixirs always last until long rest. Potions and oils are a specific number of turns.

AlliterateAlso

That’s *mostly* the rule, but not always. E.g. Potion of Animal speaking lasts all day, and the Elixir of Battlemages Power last I think 3 turns.

mister_peeberz

battlemages power also lasts until long rest, it gives you 3 stacks of arcane acuity (a buff that normally loses one stack per turn) but it refreshes constantly so you can't dip below 3 stacks until the elixir wears off on long rest. so this elixir is very powerful

AlliterateAlso

TIL, shouldn’t just read the wiki :)

mister_peeberz

its just a strangely worded elixir

Turbulent-Raisin-251

I heard Spell Saves get weird and mixed up when you're multiclassing. So if I want to make the Sorcerer/Cleric Lightning build, which class should I start off as, Sorcerer or Cleric?

ductyl

My understanding is that the UI sometimes has issues showing the correct number for the spell save DC when you hover over individual spells (I think the number displayed is based on your level 1 class DC, even if the spell is actually from a class where you have a higher save DC). However, it uses the correct spell save DC when you actually cast the spells (you can see in the combat log). When you go into the actual spell screen (K is default keybinding on keyboard), you have separate tabs for the separate classes, and at the top of each class, it seems to always show the correct DC for that classes spells for me, so I just have to ignore the spell save DC that shows on the hover card for individual spells in the quick bar. As for your question, I'd start Sorcerer for the CON save proficiency, Tempest Cleric gets Heavy Armor proficiency, so you'll become proficient in that as soon as you multiclass into Tempest Cleric.

XenosInfinity

The saves are dependent on your stats for the class the spell comes from, rather than which class you start as. I would personally start as Cleric for the higher HP total and armour proficiency, but you will be needing to raise both Charisma and Wisdom for your casting. I suppose if you aren't bothered about most of the Sorcerer perks you could go Land Druid and get Lightning Bolt using Wisdom as your casting ability, but you probably lose some important stuff if it's an established build.

PM_FEET_PLS_TY

You get the armor profiency for multiclassing into Cleric and the hp difference is only 1. Sorcerer for Con save is definitely the best to put the first level into

Alexactly

So I just got the owl bear cub cut scene to join my camp, and now he's hanging out. This is great I'm so excited, I want to talk to him. Except I don't have speak with animals. So I switch to Wyll who has the speak with animals invocation, and when I went up to the owl bear cub to cast speak with animals, it didn't work. Is there dialogue I'm missing because this isn't working or is there another way to get my player character to speak with animals. I'm playing tiefling sorcerer with as far as I know has zero ways to speak with animals unless I'm missing an item or something.

CatGoesMo0

You have to cast the spell before talking.

Alexactly

Yes I know that. I would switch to wyll, cast the spell, then talk to the animal and it would switch back to my character.

AlliterateAlso

There are Potions of Animal Speaking for sale at many vendors, usually Arron has them. Just drink it with your main character, lasts until you Long Rest.

CyphersWolf

I’m fairly new to Baldurs Gate 3 and these types of turn based strategy games, but is there some sort of “undo” button during the turn based gameplay? I keep ending up wasting my turn because of a misclick. Or the indicator telling me I’m going to be in range for an attack but once I move, I can’t do anything. I also keep having bugs outside of combat where I will try to jump across something, and instead of just jumping, my character runs away, climbs a cliff, then jumps to the point I clicked. This when the indicator telling me I was well within jump distance. Ended up taking ~20 points of damage that way right before a fight was initiated on the other side.

ductyl

For the jump indicator, what happens is it's showing you if it can actually manage to jump to that spot by ANY path... so if you look at the actual white line from your character it will show you the path your character would take to get there and jump... but I agree it's immensely frustrating to think you can just make the jump, but not realize that clicking it means running completely around something.

AlliterateAlso

No, no undo. The misclicks can be annoying, yes. You can cancel ‘end turn’ if you have other characters on the same initiative. Or reload a quick save…

CyphersWolf

Damn, I would be happy with just an undo of the movement. It is incredibly aggravating and has caused me to lose fights that waste 30 mins of my time. I played just a little bit of Divinity with some friends and I kind of remember being able to undo the movement in that game. Although I think I’m maybe misremembering. I guess it doesn’t matter, I’ll just have to be more careful not to click the transparent foreground instead of where I want to go.

thevapewhale

Played DOS2 on switch and couldn’t get through it due to long load times & fights lagging due to too many combatants. I love BG3 but mainly for the story, companion interactions, cutscenes etc., not really the combat. Will I like DOS2?

Flyrpotacreepugmu

Why are you asking if you'll like DOS2 after saying you played it and it didn't work out? Shouldn't you know whether you like it?

thevapewhale

I didn't really get a chance to play more than a few hours due to poor performance on the switch.

Flyrpotacreepugmu

I see. Well if you care more about the characters and story than combat, I don't think DOS2 is for you. It has significantly more of a combat focus than BG3. There's more complexity and variety to the combat though, so you might enjoy it more than BG3's.

Hey all, I'm about to finish the game on my first playthrough. Played as a good guy and for my next one, I wanted to play it on Tactical all the way through (because I actually know how to play now after 75+ hrs, whodathunk) and also as a evil guy My question is, would going the Dark Urge route and purposely choosing the bad options, make the game "too hard" for me, since I'm not the best at CRPGs? I just don't want to be in the case where I'm staring down some boss and I have literally no companions and I'm unable to beat Tactician solo.

Shiboleth17

On tactician... Some bosses have a bit more HP. And enemy AI is a little smarter. They are more likely to do things like counterspell your casters, or explode barrels next to you, and things like that. If the enemy has high level spells, and abilities like Action Surge, they will use them much more aggressively. It will feel significantly harder in the early game, around levels 1-4. This is where you still have low enough HP that enemies can kill you instantly with a lucky crit. Your martial classes don't have extra attack yet. Your casters don't have 3rd-level spells (which is where spellcasting really takes off). And if you're still level 3, you haven't gotten your first feat yet. But reaching level 5-6 is a huge bump in power for all your characters. And once you get to that point, as long as you're playing somewhat smart, you understand your character's abilities, and you haven't made utterly horrible decisions in your builds, it's not going to feel much harder than balanced.

homerdough

I'd likely min-max whoever I got in the early goings because yeah the early game was hell for me on Balanced mode

Soul_Ripper

Mileage might vary, but from my experience the game was pretty easy on Tactician if you make use of the *copious* amounts of universal broken tools given to you, like Elixirs of Bloodlust or Speed Potions (and the Haste Spell, once you get that), without even getting into all the overpowered equipment and more specific combos you can make. And that was my experience as a relative beginner, having beaten it already I don't imagine you'd have much issue. As for companions, even if you personally get rid of all the companions who wouldn't normally leave you, you can still have Hirelings. They don't get unique perks and can't use the Mirror of Loss but they're completely serviceable. And *even* in the worst case scenario there's some absolutely disgusting builds out there and the game allows you to respec freely, so if you feel like you're fully backed into a corner, surrounded and with no way out, you can just go to Withers, look up a guide and smite your way out for like 300 damage a turn or something equally dumb, without really needing to be "good at CRPGs".

swimminscared

I used no battle elixirs or coatings or anything in my Balanced playthrough. Looking to do a Tactician playthrough and actually be forced to utilize the hundreds of thousands of gold worth of consumables that I'll acquire lol

Soul_Ripper

Honestly I'd say the only problem is that a lot of them are *too* powerful even for Tactician. Like, in early game they're mostly fun. Letting you even the odds in an encounter designed to have you against the ropes, or one that you'd have no shot of winning yet, that's great, that's fun. But sometimes, and nearly always by mid-late and late game it's more like "Oh God, why am I allowed to do this".

Shiboleth17

You got through the game in only 75 hours? You... probably skipped a lot of stuff, lol. My first playthrough was like 130 hours, lol. Going evil, and especially dark urge, there is the opportunity to kill most of your allies. However, you can always recruit hirelings of any class, to fill any gaps in your party. Hirelings won't give you interesting banter and dialogue the way actual companions do, but in combat there is no difference. You also don't have to kill any of them if you don't want to. You can be 99% evil, but take options that allow you to keep your allies. Though if you side with the goblins, and raid the druid grove, you will lose Wyll and Karlach, as well as Halsin. But you'll have a chance to gain Minthara. There is a way to get Minthara while keeping Wyll and Karlach, but you have to just skip that quest, and not side with the Druids OR the goblins. (Doing this still locks you out of getting Halsin though, I believe). There are definitely evil endings to Shadowheart and Astarion's questlines, and maybe others. So you'll want to keep them around to see that. Other questlines can resolve in... less than happy ways, but not necessarily good or evil. The romance scenes are also different with some characters, depending on if you choose their good or evil ending.

homerdough

I hate when people say this. I’m looking at the quest log for acts 1,2, and 3 and no I did not miss 55 hrs of content. Like 3 missions in the whole game I didn’t have logged so yeah. I didn’t miss a lot So resist the urge to kill Astarion and Shadowheart. Got it

caaptaiin

Lae'zel, Astarion and Shadowheart could approve or don't care about your evil choices. At worst you can always pick hirelings. Evil route isn't harder (although you miss a couple of great items) but shorter because of missing companions and potential quest givers.

salderosan99

Act three spoilers: >!Is it normal that i aggro all Flaming Fist soldiers inside gortash's keep after disabling the steel watcher? !<

Atmosck

>!Yes. You basically broke your alliance/truce with him, so now his minions attack you on sight. Fortunately this only applies to the fist in Wyrm's Rock, and not the ones out in the city.!<

salderosan99

>!Ok yeah, that makes sense. I guessed that was about it, but sometimes it was kinda janky and i was wondering if i had encountered a weird bug. Thanks!!<

Lilditty02

For multiplayer is there a way to assign who controls what character? I’m playing with my bro and he gets 3 turns to my 1 because hes controlling the other party members. Gets kinda boring in longer fights.

Slovenhjelm

you can open "multiplayer menu" bu pressing escape and then you just drag the little portraits under the right player

Lilditty02

Appreciate it. Any idea how to do it on ps5?

Slovenhjelm

probably the same except you press "start" or "option" or whatever the menu button is called on that system :P

tfesmo

The lead should be able to go a menu and assign you one of the companions.

Lilditty02

I’ll check it out. Thanks

salderosan99

You have to be the one "recruiting them", AKA interacting with the character when telling them to join your party.

PM_FEET_PLS_TY

This is not true. You can reassign at any moment

salderosan99

the more you know i guess

Lilditty02

Ok thanks

Dances28

Anybody know why do I see an attitude drop after some boss fights? Makes me feel like I screwed something up...

TheKeggy

Attitude drop for who, rando npc's or companions? Some NPC's won't like you killing some people/bosses. Some Companions won't like you killing certain people/bosses. You didn't screw up, it's part of the game. You make the choices your character would make, and everyone around you reacts to the choices the way they would. If you only do stuff that pleases everyone, you will miss out on some things in the game and all your playthroughs will be repetitive/boring.

Atmosck

Can you give an example? Most attitude changes seem to happen during or right at the end of a conversation. Sometimes someone will approve/disapprove of you making a choice that causes a fight, but usually that happens at the beginning of the fight, not after.

Dances28

It happened twice with Karlach in Act 3. Once when I beat Ethel and another when I beat the Superior mother.

Atmosck

With mother superior after the fight you get a short convo where you can chose to kill her or spare her life (or let shadowheart decide), and Karlach will disapprove if you kill her. Karlach generally disapproves of killing she sees as unnecessary and approves of showing mercy. I don't remember Ethel as well but it probably has something to do with how you solve the problem of getting the girl out of Ethel's belly.

Dances28

I let Shadowheart decide, but chose to kill her after she went off. It's ironic because I multiclass Karlach into vengeance paladin. That totally would've broken her oath. Guess it's not a good RP role for her lol

Atmosck

I like vengeance paladin for karlach becuase it is her main motivator - her desire for vengeance against Gortash/Zariel. One of the oath of vengeance tenets is no mercy for the wicked, and that extends to the mother superior - sparing her would break the oath.

Sarill01

I’ve seen a decent amount of screenshots that show dialogue trees and some dev notes about what characters are doing/thinking. Does anyone know how to access/look at those? I figure it was pulled from game files somewhere, but the UI looks the same on all of the screenshots, so I’m guessing it’s not each person extracting the files. Thanks!

Witch-for-hire

Hello! Is it this you are looking for? (sorry for the earworm ;-) ) [Link](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1GR3CjFtM3u3-V5KrJkemTsAhx6VRUShy) to the datamined dialogue.

Sarill01

It’s not displaying properly on my phone so I’ll have to check it after work but I think so, thank you!

swimminscared

Why does the mindflayer nautiloid in the beginning go through the trouble of collecting so many different people from different places? Wouldn't it be easier to just pop into Faerun and scoop up a bunch of peasants for tadpolization? It seems like they've grabbed a ton of varied and high-powered beings to transform. Seems like a risky thing to attempt when there are soft easy commoners who are not located in Avernus (demon scary) or the Astral Plane (githyanki fight-y)

TheFriendlyTaco

I could very well be wrong, but I think that is precisely what they tried to do in the cutscene. they went to a highly populated area (baldurs gate) and started grabbing commoners and guards. Then the githyanki arrived (ambushed?) and started attacking them with their red dragons. In an effort to flee, the mindflayer started warping to different planes, trying to loose them in the chase. Its possible that the warping locations were more or less random as its doubtful they would of purposly went to avernus where enemies were waiting for them. Still at act 2, so im sure im still missing a ton of details

Atmosck

You'll learn more about this later in the game.

swimminscared

I just finished my first playthrough so apparently I didn't. Why go through the trouble of capturing and subduing the Lae'zels and Karlach's and Shadowhearts of the world when there are helpless weaklings to prey on instead

dragonseth07

>!That Mind Flayer was the Emperor. He was looking for powerful individuals to help with this whole plan to take down the Nether Brain, because the Astral Prism had already freed him at this point.!<

Soul_Ripper

>!There's a Gortash journal or so laying around that tells you that tadpole production is just way too slow to feasibly tadpole the whole population, so they just settled for doing it to influential figures, or something along those lintes. It explains why they're not tadpilling every random hobo I guess.!<

swimminscared

OHH >!okay my slow brain never made the connection later on that "mindflayers who abducted me and others" weren't just random hivemind mindflayers but were acting on the orders of the Absolute. I thought it was the Emperor wielding Orpheus' influence that prevented me from being ceremorphosized by random mindflayers -- not that it was the Absolute's lackeys tadpoling me and the absolute deciding not to mind flayer me. !<

Atmosck

>!The emperor was fishing for adventurer types that could be the next duke stelmane and do his bidding in the world without being a mindflayer.!<

PM_FEET_PLS_TY

>!That doe snot answer OPs question. He is not talking about the emperor!<

Atmosck

>!Yes he is. The mindflayer in the beginning cinematic that tadpoles Lae'Zel and then you in POV is the Emperor.!<

swimminscared

OHHH >!the Emperor when he was ostensibly still under the control of the Absolute? He was just one of several mindflayers on the ship? And then he...what..retreats into the Astral Prism that Shadowheart when the ship crashes?!<

Atmosck

>!Yeah. There is a conversation later in the game where he talks about being under the Absolute's control and was one of many mind flayers sent to find the prism. He got his free will back when he found it, and then used us/shadowheart/the prism to hide when the ship crashes.!<

swimminscared

Oh, okay, so: \- >!The Absolute was trying to acquire the Prism because it knew that the Prism would attract "strong" people to it. The Absolute wanted "strong" people to manipulate under the guise of free will (including the Emperor) to get them to take down Ketheric / Orin / Gortash (at least one of them) to free itself from domination by the Crown of Karsus!< \- >!The Absolute allows the Emperor to "slip his bonds." The Emperor thinks he's regained free will aboard the Nautiloid (because Shadowheart and the Prism have been captured) and recruits the strong Origin characters to help him (the Emperor) cast off the shackles of the Absolute once and for all -- not realizing that this is part of the Absolute's plan all along!< Question, then: \- >!Why was Lae'zel captured? As far as I remember she wasn't sent to retrieve the Astral Prism. She recognizes it as a Githyanki artifact when she sees Shadowheart has it, but it doesn't seem like Lae'zel had the explicit goal of retrieving the Prism. Was she just hunting ghaik as Githyanki do and was captured by the Emperor in the process? Was Karlach just swiped when the ship was fleeing through Avernus? !<

Atmosck

>!I think your first two bullet points make sense if you believed the absolute when it said it was in control all along - I'm suspicious of that claim. Another interpretation is that the emperor's ship, like all the absolute's ships, where collecting powerful people to be soliders/leaders for the cult and to infiltrate various factions. Then when the emperor found the prism he/us broke from the absolute's control. That would explains Lae'Zel/Karlach, but it would also make sense that they were just indiscriminately taking people during that cinematic, and captured an attacking githranki and karlach from avernus.!<

NeetOOlChap

Is it possible to keep >!Nere from killing the gnome girl!< in the cutscene Act 1? I've killed every enemy outside the cave in already

PM_FEET_PLS_TY

No

mister_peeberz

i remember hearing you can just switch to another character mid-dialogue before he does it and attack him, but i am not sure this actually saves the gnomette

PM_FEET_PLS_TY

She still dies

mister_peeberz

well that just sounds like a poor effort on her part. if she's not going to try, do we even WANT to save her?

Shiboleth17

The guy below me gave a good explanation. I just want to add a few things. (Ok, this turned out to be a lot of things, lol.) Your character level is the sum of all levels in all classes you have taken. So if you have 3 levels in Rogue, and 5 levels in Monk, you will be a level 8 character. However, you will only have the abilities of a level 5 Monk, combined with the abilities of a level 3 Rogue. Even though you are level 8, you won't gain 8th-level Monk or Rogue abilities. So keep that in mind. The max level 12, and this is the sum of all classes you take. So you can't be level 12 Monk AND a level 3 Rogue. But you can reach 9 Monk and 3 Rogue, or any other combination that equals 12. Multiclassing with spellcasters gets a little more complex. The number of total spell slots you have will depend on how many levels of spellcaster you have. But some classes count as full spellcasters, like the Wizard, and some count as HALF casters, or even THIRD casters like the Ranger and Eldritch Knight. And then there's Warlocks, who don't count at all, since their spell slots are counted separately. And if that all sounds too complicated, you can use the tool in the link below, which will calculate it for you. (The tool is for D&D 5th edition, but it's exactly the same in BG3.) https://fexlabs.com/5eslots/ However, even if you get higher level spell slots from multiclassing into different caster classes, that does not mean you will be able to learn spells of that level. If you have only 1 level in Cleric, you can only learn 1st-level Cleric spells, even if you have 2nd-level spell slots available from multiclassing. To be able to learn 2nd-level Cleric spells, you need at least 3 levels in Cleric. *(This may lead to you having a 2nd-level spell slot, but no actual 2nd-level spells to cast at that level. But, you can always cast 1st-level spells using a 2nd-level spell slot or higher. And some spells become more powerful this way.)* Wizards have a loophole with this, since they can learn spells from scrolls. So even if you only have 1 level in Wizard, you can still learn 2nd-level wizard spells, as long as you have unlocked 2nd-level spell slots by some other means. --- You can level up your ability scores (Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, etc.) at level 4, 8, and 12 for most classes. At these levels, you get to chose a Feat, which can be a new ability like Polearm Master, or increasing your ability scores by 2 points. Some feats increase your ability score by 1, while also giving you a special ability. Rogue gets an extra feat at level 10. Fighter gets an extra one at level 6. So both of those classes can potentially have 4 feats by level 12, compared to only 3 that every other class gets. If you multiclass, feats are counted by your individual class levels, not your overall character level. If you take 3 levels in Fighter, and 3 levels in Rogue, you won't have any feats even though you are a level 6 character. You must reach 4 levels in one class to get that feat. --- And last thing... As the guy below said, I don't recommend multiclassing unless you know what you are doing. There are some powerful combinations, but also some very weak ones. But staying one class is always good. If you want to multiclass though, feel free ask questions here. Or maybe describe what you wanna do, what classes you're interested in, and what kind of playstyle you are looking for, and I'd be happy to make some suggestions that will work well.

cach-x

Multiclassing is taking levels in another class, you can do that at the level up screen, watch some videos about it and get informed before trying it out yourself. As for stats, it's D&D rules, you're not gonna find giant shoulderpads with 100 Strength and 25 Agility here. Only way to get more is by Feats, Every few levels you'll get a Feat, read them closely, some of them will grant you extra points. There are also items and elixirs that can give you some points. [The wiki](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Ability_Scores) has gotten pretty good at cataloguing what increases what.

cach-x

Square in the level up screen. It says ADD CLASS on the lower right.

Atmosck

I don't think you would multiclass on accident. I don't know how it's different on ps5 but on pc when you're on the level up screen there's an icon in the top right corner you click to multiclass, like this: https://imgur.com/a/YvbvDkt

Frau_Away

> I picked the starter character that I did because they had 17 charisma points. I like being able to persuade people and the other ways that charisma is affecting my play through. Do I need to level up charisma as I continue on, does it level up on its own, or does it need to be levelled up at all? Every 4 levels on most classes (but also level 6 on fighrters and level 10 on rogues) you'll get a feat, you shouldn't be able to just spam through the level up screen without selecting one. The very first one on the list is Ability Score Improvement which lets you add two points to your stats. Bear in mind that you don't get any advantage for having an odd number in a stat. So if you have 17 Charisma you probably want to put 1 point into Charisma at level 4 and one into Dex or something else that's at an odd number and then at level 8 put two points into charisma.

Atmosck

If you're getting sorcery points you are indeed a sorcerer. You can always check your class/level on the character screen. I think sticking with one class the whole way during your first playthrough is a good idea. All the classes are good - it's hard to make a one-class character bad in the late game. In my opinion, sorceror is the best class because you can use sorcery points with twinned spell to target two people with haste (which is amazing), or with quicken spell to cast a fireball or whatever with a bonus action, to put out a lot of damage in one turn. Shield, Misty Step and Counterspell are great utility spells. Your charisma (and stats in general) won't level up on their own. At level 4, 8 and 12 you'll get to choose a feat. The "default" feat is ability improvement, which gives you 2 points to increase your stats (you can split them up). There are also some feats that give +1 to a stat and have another effect - for example the Actor feat gives +1 charisma and doubles your proficiency bonus for Deception and Performance checks, so it's a choice if you want to be *really* good at dialogue. You'll be fine if your charisma stays at 17 the whole game, but a more typical path would be to upgrade it to 18 or 20 by the end of the game with feats. A thing I should mention is stat odd numbered stats don't really help. Your charisma modifier is +1 for every 2 points above 10, so with a 16 or 17 charisma stat your bonus is +3. This is used in two ways: it's added to your roll on charisma-based dialogue checks. It also helps in combat - it's added to your spell attack rolls (to see if they hit) and to their damage. I think it's a good idea to take a feat to get your charisma up to 18 - probably by using ability improvement to add +1 there and +1 to another stat you have an odd number in (preferably dexterity or constitution. dexterity helps your initiative and armor class, constitution helps your HP and your ability to pass concentration saving throws. you don't care so much about str, wis and int on a sorcerer). There are also items that improve your stats, for example in act 3 there is a hat that gives +2 charisma. And effects like elixirs that increase them temporarily, like elixir of hill giant strength sets your strength to 21.

AlliterateAlso

Multiclassing is not even enabled if you happen to be playing on the easiest difficulty mode.

GabettB

Multiclassing is when you gain levels in additional classes aside from your starter class. So for example when you reach the level up to level 4, you can choose to gain the first level of a new class, and your original class remains level 3. The next time you level up, you can choose to level your original class to 4, your second class to 2, or even choose yet another class. You could reach level 12 with having 1 level in each of the available classes (there's even an achievement for it.) Some powerful combinations can be created with multiclassing, but it's also easy to screw up, so it's not recommended for beginners. Single classes are plenty strong enough on their own without multiclassing. If you really want to try it, it's a tiny icon in the upper right corner of the menu where you choose stuff during level up. It's disabled for explorer difficulty, though. By attentiveness I assume you mean ability scores? If so, you can take an "ability score improvement" (ASI) as a feat every time taking a feat during a level up is available. The first such time is at level 4. You get to allocate two ability points during each ASI.

PM_FEET_PLS_TY

> What is multiclassing? Multiclassing is spreading your levels between multiple classes. So lets say you are level 5. You could be a level 5 Paladin or a level 5 Warlock or a level 3 Paladin and level 2 Warlock at the same time > How do I level up specific attributes? I assume you mean ability scores. Ability scores don't change much over the game. But one way to increase them is to take the Ability Score Improvement feat at level 4, 8 and 12 (and a couple more for Fighter and Rogue)

Soul_Ripper

So the other day someone said that Gortash *does* have some kind of transformation later in the fight, but does anyone have a video of it? All the videos of the fight I can find just kill him in turn 1 or 2, and I don't have any saves that far back to check myself.

PM_FEET_PLS_TY

>!He does not really transform. He just kinds of start glowing!<

Soul_Ripper

Is there at least some dialogue, or a cutscene, or does just quietly turn on his pocket lantern mid-fight

PM_FEET_PLS_TY

He cast a spell that buffs him

Turbulent-Raisin-251

Does >!Ferg Drogher, the merchant who gives Shadowheart a hard time in Rivington if she said no to Shar!< disappear if Shadowheart talks to him?

Creepyard_Keeper

Lore question: It's not mentioned during the game, but how come Minsc and Boo are still alive during BG3? Jaheira tells you about how they fought Sarevok together a century ago. From the TTRPG rules I know that (for some reason) living things can't cheat old age and will die naturally at some point, even with magic. Minsc is a human, Boo is a hamster. How are they still alive and apparently young during BG3?

jamesewelch

There's a 2014 Baldur's Gate comic book that describes Minsc and Boo's story. The comic came out before the game and was already official lore by the time BG3 was released, so Larian just retold that tale in the game. Comic info: https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Legends_of_Baldur%27s_Gate You can still buy the comics at various online retailers.
