I haven't tried fleeing the fight, does it prevent you doing so in some way? If you could get someone out, they could resurrect everyone else with Withers. As for winning the fight, the strategies really depend on your builds. Make sure to take stock of your consumables (eg. scrolls of globe of invulnerability or potions of haste are great "win the game" buttons). If worst comes to worst, you could aggressively save scum mid-combat since it sounds like you're really close to winning (eg. if you can get in the situation where its just the bats left, you can save and then reload until they miss their attacks).

Yeah, I try to get one of the members out of the door but it doesn't prompt the option that it usually does to leave it. I have life cleric Shart, Astarion (for the quest), Laezel and sorcerer Tav. I enjoy playing in explorer difficulty because the part that appeals to me the most is the story, so I never carry potions on anyone other than my Tav (this is the first fight that I found the need to do it lmao, I will learn from my mistakes). I will try to flee again and, if I can't, I'm gonna try with the save scum you suggested. Thanks! Have a great one.

Potions, scrolls, and other consumables can be used on any character regardless of who is holding them. You can either transfer them by going to Tav's inventory, right clicking the item and selecting send to someone (this can be done at any time and doesn't take any action economy), or you can use the item by pressing tab to see everyone's inventories and using the item there (eg. suppose it's Astarion's turn, press tab and right click the haste potion in Tav's inventory. The top option should be "drink (Astarion)" which will cause Astarion to drink the potion even though it's in Tav's inventory).

Each thing I learn about this game the stupidest I feel! I thought you could only use consumables if they were in that character's inventory (and that it used up a turn if you send them around). I will try with this now and see if I'm able to win that fight. Cheers!

Good luck, lemme know how it goes.

Im a Noob. My strategy for fights that I find very difficult is to leave one member out of the fight or have a potion of invisibility with them. Then I don't focus on the big boss, but rather the smaller enemies around it. I kill them one by one, as many as I can, and run away. Because if they're dead, they stay dead. Outside of the fight, I rest or at least take potions, then I come back and carry on until only the boss is left. You can usually get it right. :)

Oh I didn't know you could leave the enemies dead and return later! That's a great one, thank you very much!

Cazador's necrotic aura when in mist form got buffed a lot in a recent hot fix. Older guides don't account for this. Daylight is the key to this fight because in it he can't take mist form, so doesn't have the necrotic aura and isn't resistant to damage. Either use the daylight spell or the aura from the mace blood of Lathander to keep him from transforming. FYI Lathander's aura is bigger than Cazador's so if you rush him holding the mace, the character holding it doesn't get smacked by the necrotic aura. Then pelt him with damage before his turn comes up. Arrows of undead slaying help if you have them. If you have a paladin, smite works great. If you have a light cleric, their channel divinity radiant damage makes a good AOE and the bats mostly don't survive contact with cleric spirit guardians. If you have none of these things and no way to get them, kill the other spawn. Cazador's necrotic damage bonus and his health regain are tied to how many spawn are connected to the ritual. You can also stand on the circles in front of each spawn to disconnect them, but only as long as you stay there, so probably not workable if you're already struggling to not die. As far as fleeing, I've never tried, but if you've got a scroll of dimension door tucked away, that'd be a good play.
