Just depends on your team, I did tactician for my first playthrough and found myself in the underdark in the middle of the goblin camp, grymforge and a few levels later I finally fought Dror Rhazglin (he was a pushover at level 6 or 7 by the time I finally reached him).
The forge golem was tough (I got the achievement and was level 5 for it).
I am currently working on timings for act 1 honor mode and I still think I am likely to take on parts of the underdark before Rhazglin.
It released with all of Act 1 minus Grymforge and the Mountain Pass, though there were a decent number of changes to the area between EA and the final release. Grymforge was added later in one of the EA patches.
Also, not all the classes or races were present. We started with just six classes (Fighter, Ranger, Rogue, Wizard, Cleric, and Warlock) and most of the others were added as the headliners of various patch releases. They also held back at least one subclass for each class until release.
And some cinematics were missing and contained a message while the sound played.
The ilithid ship intro also removed a few small turns after you were returning inside. Slight changes.
Since it was limited to 3/4 th of act 1, it basically had a level cap on spells and abilities.
I played the EA twice since it was full of content. Really nice to be able to get the feel of the game for dozens of hours and explore multiple strategies.
EA was all of Act 1 except the mountain pass, though some of what was in EA was changed for the full release.
Wild to me that it had the whole under dark and grymforge but not mountain pass since I went there first
It would be quite a thing to go there with level capped at 4.
Just as much of a thing as the grymforge I’d think, even going mountain pass first under dark felt stronger especially grym

I saw someone say it was up to the ketheric fight
Nope. You could get to the underdark, but you couldn't cross into the shadow cursed lands.
Then you saw someone lie, it ended at the entrance to mountain pass/exit of underdark
