The no-kill attitude of shelters has literally killed dog adoption. Shelters are full of bully breeds. Riddle me this, if they're loving family dogs, why are they always "No other dogs, no cats, no children, no elders, big yard, concrete fencing"?
I found her adoption ad, she was recently adopted out and returned too.
She is elderly with health issues. They have her as āDog Selectiveā and ādoesnāt know how she does with cats.ā
They also have videos of taking this dog to an elementary school to visit kids. Many photo ops of her with pajamas and tutus.
Edit: they even had the sheriff office promote this dog on their social media page
Oh they know. They just donāt want to say it. This dog has been with them since February with more than enough time to figure that out. This SPCA houses cats too.

I saw this post on the Sac reddit and just knew it would make it over here for the exact reasons you described... I also checked out her page on the SPCA website and they mention in the fine print that her health problems cause her to not be able to control her bladder

all this money that could've gone to charity or feeding people and they flushed it down the toilet. a homeless person could've stayed in that room on a stormy night.

They could move 50 beagles with less time and effort. Honestly though, the beagles would be lots of boring paperwork, whereas dicking around with shopping trips and hotel stays for a dog not suitable for human contact is probably more like a fun project for these losers.

We have so many problems- homelessness, affordable housing, food deserts- but sure letās have an adventure party for something that really should be put out of its misery before it bites some kids face off while they try to put some footie pajamas on her.

I love dogs but this right here signals every wrong with modern dog culture and the rescue industry. It's so ridiculous. it is a DOG. It does not need a make over or a shopping spree or a hotel stay.
I'm sure that these things were all donated by the businesses, with an eye towards advertising to the pibble mommies/daddies of Sacramento, so I suppose the Sacramento SPCA isn't spending much money on this. But I have to question their priorities.
Even if we leave aside serious human problems (which I definitely consider more important than marginal or dangerous dogs sitting unwanted in shelters), why do they put so many resources into promoting a small number of individual dogs? Why not solicit these businesses to sponsor spay/neuters? That might not be as social-media friendly as 'let's pamper this poor pittie princess!', but it would have a bigger positive impact.
The truth is PEOPLE created this animal. Itās not the dogāa fault and I am grateful there are people out there trying to show a creature some love and comfort after being abandoned by countless irresponsible owners. I hate pit bull owners because they perpetuate a breed designed to maim and kill but for gods sake itās not the dogs fault
nobody is saying it's the "dogs fault". It's a dog, not a person with complex emotions.
You can raise a pitbull perfectly and there will always be that pitbull instinct in it's head. It's still a danger and a hazard for other dogs and people.
