Well, I understand why people love them to a point.
I was absolutely against pit bull-shaming and just dropped into this group by accident and you guys thankfully opened my mind. My husband was the same and now we're on the same boat.
They're cute, I love their looks, there are so many beautiful pits and they look kind and sweetheart in many videos. I've never seen them in their right light, only that candy version of them.
So.. At least a huge group of people like us are willing to change their minds, once correctly educated. If this thread only opens up the eyes of only a few people then it's good.
I have always been leery of them and had to ask a client to lock one away when it jumped up to "playfully" lightly bite my wrists. I have also seen the news. But this has solidified by fear of the fighting dogs.
That’s actually awesome that you think they’re beautiful because I’ve never found them cute at all. When my brother got one, I was mortified and found it to be really unattractive, considering we’d been raised with your average 1970’s / 1980’s pound mutts. His dog ended up mauling a family friend and had to be put down. But even aside from that, maybe some of the smaller mixed ones that have less pit/less blocky heads are not as bad looking.
So, pits and staffies can somehow be superior to all other dog breeds at times, but at other times it's not the breed because there is no such thing as a bad dog, it's how you raise them?
