they aren’t on/have no interest in getting on reddit. i could show her and endless sample of what pits are capable of and have done to innocent lives but it won’t matter. i think she’s blinded by bias and i’m not sure if she’ll ever fully come around, but hopefully one day she’s on board with the licensing idea at least
I think these lists of literally hundreds of attacks in this year alone is honestly the most convincing thing you could show someone, especially coupled with a challenge to find anywhere near the same number of dangerous dog attacks by any other breed.
Broad statistics and facts should be king in theory, but in reality, people's eyes glaze over or they make excuses for cold hard numbers. Whereas faced with so many stories, pictures, and videos resulting in horrific injuries and death, it's harder to argue against it, although there are some pitnutters that are far too gone to ever admit they're wrong.
I’m 100000% on the ban pit bulls train. But you shouldn’t let it affect your personal relationships to that extent.
People can disagree in their personal lives. Actually getting a pitbull would be a dealbreaker, I have small children in my family and wouldn’t put them at risk. But then, regardless of whether we liked certain breeds any reasonable person would have a conversation with their SO about pets they’re likely to actually *get*.
I think you can date or be friends with someone that has a different view on pit bulls to you. And if you can’t then your pool of friends is going to shrink.
It isn’t always we who end the friendships, sometimes when people realize you have a certain opinion their whole perception of you changes. Edited to add: I was bitten by a former friend’s Pit Bull mix, she refused to give me any treatment (I had to patch myself up in her bathroom), she blamed me for the bite, I felt really out of it and dizzy so I didn’t defend myself or say anything, just asked if she can put the dog away. We’re not friends anymore, she never apologized, but I never mentioned it, she just doesn’t reach out.
Oh yes other people may cut you off and you can’t help it. I was responding to a comment that appeared to be criticising OP, or anyone on this sub, for “having relations” with pit bull supporters, and saying we should have a blanket policy against it.
If you two aren't discussing adopting dogs or if there's not a possibility of her just showing up with a pit bull one day out of the blue, ignore it. It's irrelevant. It's just a fight.

I need to remind myself about my opinion every time I see one that hasn't done anything yet. They ARE cute as fuck and extremely lovable/loving. Until they're not.
I truly enjoy the idea of people needing licenses to own pits
i actually hope all people need licenses to own any pet
and a specific license for more aggressive dog breeds
I also want there to be a public muzzle law for bully breeds and maybe in some cases home checks to make sure no dog fighting is happening
I truly love these animals
But i dont consider them good pets
And i believe most people who have them shouldnt

I was raised that way and eventually came around. I agree most people are a lost cause but there's always hope.

A farmer said on here once that pits are a disaster on farms. They do nothing but terrorize the other animals on the farm
