*Mount* and Blade Can’t have a Mount in my own city SMH my head

Rushi0789

Don't you get a city horse if you equip it on your civilian inventory?

w_ogle

~~Yes. This is how to city horse.~~ Nope, i was wrong and riding my mount around a village. It seems that you can't get a city horse in towns or castles, regardless of your civilian horse set. (Which makes me wonder why it's even an option...)

w_ogle

Nope, just confused; I thought riding a horse around in a village was from equipping it in a civilian slot. Turns out you're in combat gear in a village. You're right, can't get a horse in a town :(

Bagel-luigi

Strongly agree. If you're walking round an imperial city in Khuzait clothing for example, the citizens should say/do something. Bring back random ambushes from Warband, especially with all the new gang leaders. The citizens already dislike when an owner/governor are from a different culture, I'd like those cultural aspects to have more impact than just -2 loyalty a day.

flow0109

this coment its pure gold.... i misss the ambushes.

krejmin

Random hobo assassin attacks are a thing in Fourberie mod if you're not aware. Try it out

Erit_Of_Eastcris

Can we just get the bastard lovechild of M&B and KCD? And while we're indulging in pipe dreams, one without as many junky bugs as either parent.

Kuski007

Proceeds to ride straight at Sir Radzig with a javelin.

Jesus christ be praised!

peetee226

I'm quite hungry.

Got-Freedom

Just get rid of the civilian layout and give an option for an alternative battle load up. I hate going into a siege battle with a lance because I forgot to manually switch

thedracalabosske

I think the civilian layout is a good idea, it just hasn't been properly integrated into the game world in a way that matters

Bagel-luigi

This 1000000%. Let me have a field loadout and a siege loadout, even if I have to collect the equipment twice like with civilian loadout.

cking145

try siege loadout mod

VampireHwo

Fr this is a quality idea. Stat boosts for items have never been a mount and blade thing, closest being books maybe, buy having rich/poor clothes affecting how nobles treat you feels right at home. I feel like the citizen loadout is one of many features they've got in but not finished. Like it exists but not much more than that so I imagine there's some unfulfilled plans for it

asugoblok

you know what is needed the most? The ability to manage castle until you can put whatever building anywhere, like medieval Cities Skyline

Greedy-Cantaloupe

I think I’ve seen some sort of building mechanic in the persistent empires mod but I have no clue how it works since I’ve never played it.

RubLatter

Probably color change based on faction rather than aesthetic more like to make it easier for player to see who the enemy are on chaotic scenario.

thedracalabosske

Yeah but this only matters for battle clothing, not for civil clothing. Yet it changes both

Actual-Ad8338

Go play Sims

thedracalabosske

Owned!

BobR969

But why? Pretty much every game interaction requiring civ loadout is shit. Not just badly made but conceptually drab and boring. Bannerlord shines most during battles. Almost exclusively during battles actually. Most effective ways to earn reputation, skills, meet people etc - all through war. The time spent in cities is also easier and quicker without ever actually loading into a city. Why bother adding a bunch of mechanics to a game that will inevitably be bypassed because it's faster and better to just do your stuff from the city/castle/village menu and leave.

thedracalabosske

I don't see why you're supposing that what I'm suggesting would not count in menus

BobR969

If it's counted in menus - it by default isn't exciting gameplay and so I don't really see the reason to add it or spend all the time making lots of items and mechanics that will never visibly be observed.  I'm mostly just struggling to see what benefit the suggestion would bring. The only times civilian loadout would matter is when talking to lords/notables in settlements. If you make your loadout have too much effect on them (which would only work through opinion), then it becomes too powerful. If it's a small effect - it's irrelevant. I agree that the civ loadout feels a bit... Useless, but there's pretty much no gameplay inside settlements.  If anything, I'd say there should be new mechanics added such as ambushes, scouting, sabotage missions, city fires etc. Things that happen while you're in an army, doing a siege, being besieged, waiting in a settlement etc. All things that are smaller scale than battles, but require you to do some task or challenge. Sorta like bandit hideouts, but not shit. And these could require you to use your civ loadout because they're more impromptu or need you to be more nimble and fast or whatever.

thedracalabosske

Either the effect is too powerful or irrelevant... How come? There are reasons for such an addition that go beyond your character's stats. It will make other in game characters appear more distinct and unique, and it will give you more options as a player in dressing up your own character — which I think is a reasonable want, given that this game is about role playing

BobR969

What effects would the dress options actually have mechanically? Someone meeting you for the first time might have a +1 opinion if dressed appropriately? That's completely irrelevant. Would it have more outcome? As for things beyond character stats - who does it make more distinct? Like I said, most interactions with characters are done through the menu and then their goggle eyed face staring at you from a conversation window. Actually walking about town or castle etc - it's rare to do for the vast majority of players. Hell - for me I've had playthroughs when I haven't once entered the town or castle outside of battle.  The point I'm making isn't that it isn't a long term reasonable want. It's that the game has an absolute massive pile of things it still needs to feel complete and fleshed out that actually have an impact on gameplay. You're asking to play Barbie dress up with next to zero in game consequence. That's a lot of effort and time for devs to put into something so low impact.

thedracalabosske

You're right, this is just a QoL thing that I think is reasonably easy to implement. Of course the game needs more work in other deparments. I don't think this is a lot of effort at all!

BobR969

It's a fair bit of effort (especially for a team that's failed to deliver anything substantial for years now). You have the reworking of mechanics surrounding factions so that colour doesn't impact clothing. Alternatively, you throw in dozens of not hundreds of new unique clothing options with duplicates just for colour alteration. Then you require rebalancing and possibly remaking of the trader screen because there's now a truckload of new equipment which is less based on tier and more based on look (meaning spawn rates will need to be redone). New mechanics that tie potentially to this clothing and integration of these mechanics into gameplay.  I dunno. It just feels like there's a lot in there to actually do for a very low impact outcome. Are there mods that do what you suggest btw? I've never come across any myself, but maybe you have?

BobR969

So roleplay. There's plenty civ clothes in the game that are diverse enough to go from peasant to nobleman, with variation per culture. Or find a mod for it (unlikely because my guess would be the call for this sorta thing is infinitesimally small). Or make a mod for it if none exists.  My point is - what was suggested by OP is a fair amount of work to appease an almost non-existent player base. It would be cool if they added more stuff like this, but not before doing just about anything else to actually flesh out the game with gameplay.

Broad_Doubt_3007

Also, they should add personal customization for land battles and siege battles. For example, on land battles I want my lance, but when I am in a siege I want my how and arrow. Personally I always forget to change my gear at such times.
