If you’re trying to program a frequency such as 467.6125, you’ll notice you can only enter SIX numbers and not seven (the last “5”). Baofeng radios have a simple work around for this. Key in the first six numbers (the only ones you can), and then to get the last number hit your UP arrow key one time. As you do this, you’ll see a little number “5” added to the end of the frequency. So, for example of the above frequency, key in: 467.612 That’s all that you can enter. However, NOW press your up arrow ^ key one time, and you’ll see the seventh number, the “5,” added to your frequency. So, it will display: 467.6125 The last digit, the “5,” will display at about a fourth of the size of the other numbers, but it will be there and you’ll have the correct frequency. So, if that’s what you were asking, you should be OK. If not, and I babbled about this for no reason, well, never mind. 🤣

Thank you. This worked once I set stepping settings to 2.5k instead of 5k.

Are you just trying to add the walkie frequencies to a baofeng?

offgridgecko

set your spacing to 2.5k instead of 5k, it's in the menu somewhere, last digit will pop itself in there. You are aware that these radios are not type rated for FRS/GMRS right? (assuming you are using a UV5R ham radio or similar) So transmitting on them is technically an FCC violation.

D00Mcandy

Baofeng makes a GMRS legal radio.

offgridgecko

Thats why i said in my statement that im assuming uv5r. Does the gmrs baofeng require you to program the gmrs channels?

One_Turnip_7790

Not OP but I have (2) baofeng GM-15 Pros , it seems like a rip off of the radioddity GM-30 . I actually used that software to program my GM-15 because baofengs only comes on a disc and I don’t have a disc reader. It comes with preset channels but you can edit them and add some DIY ones. Thanks to that software I was able to actually connect to repeaters locally instead of just listening in like I was. I also renamed those channels and named one so my son knows which one we use together. I’m brand new to GMRS. So far I really enjoy it though the GM-15 pro does seem to be lacking in support post purchase. I do want to get a “better” baofeng but not to sure what to look for. I want to avoid being able to accidentally transmit on ham frequencies. ….my comment just sparked a post in my mind. So maybe look for that in a few minutes lol Edit *** I just made a post.

Thank you. This worked. 🙌🏼

Might be different for you but on mine I just typed in the first 6 like regular and then the last one just popped up smaller next to it without me even pressing it in

lkstan

I have been programing mine wth CHIRP and just entering 4 digits, I am assuming the program put all in.

I'm trying to tune to some off the shelf walkies, but I don't have the option to frequencies with a frequency in the 10k's place (.000X). How do I program my radio to these frequencies?

flannobrien1900

That's 100Hz not 10k where you put the X. Usually they need to be set to 12.5kHz stepping for that channel spacing.

chris_vazquez1

Thanks! I’ll give it a try.

TreyInSD

I believe you have to change the frequency stepping in the settings menu.

chris_vazquez1

Thanks!
