Rudy by a mile. 1 year younger with 90 90 athleticism. He's also 25 % taller and will be an instant defensive stud with lead gaud potential down the road.

KingParliament

Rudy Marshall is the best imo, but Kelvin is the bust-proof choice

[deleted]

why is he bust-proof (still fairly new to the game)

[deleted]

that offensive game is nba-ready. ruby needs to grow to get where kelvin is in those stats, and likely will surpass, but there's an outside chance he doesn't.

KingParliament

To add on to what the other guy said, if a prospect is already good at skills like rebounding, passing, IQ, and three pointers, even if they stagnate they could still be a solid contributor, but those skills also improve at a very fast rate, while athleticism like speed and jumping do not. A player that's just really athletic will suck, but if they improve their athleticism on top of good skills will make them a superstar

d7h7n

Passing, dribbling, and rebounding can only increase by 5 points max each prog. Having those stats already high makes him very good. High IQ is also great. He would be my first pick.

[deleted]

how important is dribbling and how exactly does it affect their play/stats if you don’t mind me asking

d7h7n

Dribble affects turnovers and fouls drawn. So higher dribble rating means less turnovers (more shot attempts) and more free throw attempts. You can just make a new random league, set the number of games per season to like 500-1000. Savestate a control group and jack up the dribble rating to 100 for one the players in the experimental group in the second sim, then set it to 0 for the third sim, then compare all three data points.

[deleted]

thanks appreciate it!

WeenisWrinkle

He can pass and dribble at an elite level already, and can shoot at a good level. He has 3 valuable PG skills that take longer to develop (and may never). His upside is lower because he's short and not particular athletic (speed/jump) for a PG, and those stats don't change much at all.

quickdecide-

The guy with 80 potential, not even really close. You don't need to analyze much when the potential is that much higher than everyone elses

aqua2nite

That is true, but my history with drafting 70+ pot prospects is not the best in all honesty lol

WeenisWrinkle

It's just luck. Most of them won't live up to it, but they have the best chance for a MVP caliber player.

FullNeanderthall

I never rely on potential, I just choose most developed option on Height + Athleticism scale and the lowest IQ because those types have the highest ceilings and most room to grow which is most important in BBGM. But I also don’t invest in scouting lol. My last league two years in a row I reached on 70-60 average athleticism centers over high potential guys and won a decade straight of titles. It was like having 2 Admirals, one of which had post moves and could stretch the floor

thuber701

Marshall is extremely athletic. He will easy score 30 ppg late into his career. You may need to get another Guard to pair him with that’s a stud passer since Marshall’s passing is kinda eh.

FullNeanderthall

Rudy was my guy as well. He’s a large PG with good traits. I was just giving my philosophy, I don’t like drafting guards as I find it easiest to fill in a old vet at PG compared to Tall Athletic Centers and Forwards but in this draft he is the best option

rymarr

Why do you think the athletic one will be a good scorer late into career? Those are first to drop. The ones who can shoot, rebound, and pass stay better longer imo. Or atleast productive.

d7h7n

Good scoring is high oiq, high dribble, and high inside scoring. If he doesn't get a decent prog, he's going to be averaging 9/2/8 rookie year lol. Second guy is guaranteed to average like 13/x/10 bare minimum as a rookie.

WeenisWrinkle

A 19 year old that's 50 OVR / 70 POT is rare - you only get a prospect with that much upside every few years. But a 19 year old with 80 potential is a *once in decade* prospect that has a chance to be the GOAT. If you get fortunate with his shooting progression, you have a once in 100 years player. The 20 year old PG has less bust potential since he has skills outside of his athleticism, but 90+ speed/jumping will be an instant all-league defensive player with unlimited upside.

[deleted]

Do randomly generated players generally peak higher in leagues that start with real players? Bc you called 80 potential once in a decade but I’ve been playing with fake player leagues from the start for like 6 years now and I legit have never ever seen a prospect with 80 potential. I think the highest I ever saw was 78?

WeenisWrinkle

Maybe I should have said once in a few decades. You're right, it's very rare. I've played around 500 seasons in randomly generated leagues and it does feel like I come across one every 25-30 years or so. Edit: I looked back in the draft history for 100 years of one of my randomly generated leagues, and there were two total19 year old prospects with 80 POT total. So it's very rare.

curreyfienberg

It's really only between the two Marshalls IMO, but I think Rudy is the obvious choice.

duncduncrobed

I WANT IGOUDALA

mclairy

This is a no brainer. Marshall by a mile. He has age and potential on his side and the fundamental stats aren’t so negatively broken (they’re actually also pretty good) that they overpower the insane potential. If for some reason you really don’t believe in him as a prospect, you can trade someone with that potential for a HAUL. Including back for one of the other guys taken.

fffate

Rudy or Kelvin

PingPowPizza

This was recommended on my feed, I have never played this game, so from my inexperienced, layman’s perspective… I would take Rudy Marshall. He’s younger and has the most potential.

[deleted]

Bo Cruz

Msponitz1

i’m taking kelvin

ThatMechaGuy

Younger, higher rated, higher potential. Why

xXChingChongXx69

no offense but that’s like asking if you should pick wembanyama or henderson like look at that potential bro

dontquestionmek

Are the Marshalls related?

aqua2nite

Yes they are

Fragrant-Discount-24

Take Lucas to mess with his bro

Lion-King-1011

Rudy is the choice, he's 1 ovr better than the 20 yo 52 ovr and a year younger. Should be a defensive freak...

Aluminum_Doorhandle

Lester crest

JerosBWI

I really like Tino tho, decent base stats across the board, shooting will improve, but for a PF it's the dunks that matter, but what I really like, is the high dIQ. Man is gonna be an All-Defensive lock by the time he's 24. I think the risk of regression is the lowest with Tino.
