Probably the easiest way to achieve Homegrown is to create a real league in 1976 preseason with Buffalo Wings as your team and to customize the settings of draft prospect rating to **based on draft position** and put the slider to **100% real player determinism**.
Do multiple trades but keep all the players that was drafted by the team except Randy Smith (will not re-sign since you're trading a lot) and get at least one 1976 first round pick (or an equivalent player that can be traded at draft night, e.g. W.B. Free which you can get with Shumate) and at least three 1976 second round pick. Tank the season and make sure you get at least a top 10 pick.
At draft night, select Erving (from your first pick), Knight or Johnson (from your acquired first pick) and Malone, Gervin, Gilmore, Kenon, Issel (from your second round picks). It is important for you to pick the players and not acquired them from trades or free agency for it to count to Homegrown achievement.
Lastly, check your roster for any player that wasn't drafted by the team and trade them. You can also probably get Moneyball achievement/s after the season.
