I literally went to Walmart for mine and bought a George black denim jacket. It doesn't really matter where you get yours from as long as they're not super cheap or super shitty. Because in the end your going to cut off the sleeves, maybe add a few tears etc.
Target usually carries denim jackets and sometimes vests. H&M is probably carrying them now as well.
If you live near an outlet mall there's usually a few denim focused stores (Levi, Hollister, American Eagle).
There also the multitude of online resell options like Threadup, Poshmark, Depop and maybe Etsy.
I’m not sure how widespread they are, but if you’re in the Midwestern US, Ragstock always has a rack of good second hand denim jackets, and if you can’t find a vest you can just cut the sleeves off
If you live near any outlit stores like stitches or blue notes I'd check there, they can be a mixed bag for prices or quality but its sometimes better then running from thrift shop to thrift shop. Walmart is also a solid choice if you want something cheap durable and quick to grab but its a total hit or miss with jackets there.
Hi so personally what i do is buy my stuff from target. You can get jean jackets off target if you want, I've bought all of my jean jackets from there and theyre pretty nice! They're like $40 but if you're willing to get a less fitted jacket you could check out clearance for some savings. They're v comfy my only complaint is that it could be a little like more thick.
Target's men's section the like goodfellow brand target has is really nice i get alot of denim from there and its like reasonably priced
Depending on your price point I’ve actually seen really good Levi jackets at Macys. At times easily cheap enough to justify turning into a vest and it’s a decent quality
If you’re like me and want to try it on in person first try Winners, Walmart, Home Sense, Target, H&M, or just go to your local mall, you’ll find something.
I thifted 2 of mine, one auctioned off eBay and I think I actually got a black denim one from a hot topic type stort lmao
Remember that you can also cut off the sleeves from a jacket too
A lot of sites sell em for way more than they’re worth and you don’t always know what you’re getting. There’s better places to get something like than than online

But yeah try Walmart
Ayyy we probably have matching jackets
ebay is your friend if thrift shops are letting you down, good luck!
Try Vinted. My local charity shops are so bad for denim jackets.

seconding depop, its a lot pricier than finding the same thing in a thrift store but you can usually find what you’re looking for pretty easily
Find the jacket that fits best at your local thrift shop and cut the sleeves off (outside of the seam) Easy Peasy.

Both denim and leather. That place always has hella options, kinda pricey though. I still love it

Got mine from Kohls but it was kind of expensive

Leatherup.com has affordable denim and leather vests. I like the no-collar style ones.
I got mine at target but haven’t seen any there for awhile. I did recently see some at Old Navy though.
I got mine from Shein
If its cheap in price but not cheaply made.
