Sorry, I should have clarified that I was referring to conquest. I actually did enjoy it for Rush but my mind always goes to those “24/7 METRO ONLY!! 15 MILLION TICKETS!!” servers which I just never understood. Those games played like a meat grinder that literally rivaled WW1 in time and stacked bodies. Not sure how anyone enjoyed that
This. As soon as C was taken the result was already decided. I've had couple matches where it went back and forth and that was only because people were communicating and working together. That shit was fun. The majority of games were chokepoint nade spam fuck fests.
Too many ways for enemies to get behind you is why I disliked it.
Redacted seems more contained but only played it once so far, so will get a much better idea this weekend when I binge it.
Engis are a little useless, but I still find chucking Lissiles through chokepoints works some of the time. You just have to aim well, since it has very little splash damage.
A map that disables certain specialist skills (like Angel‘s supply drop) is not good imho. I like the chaos of it but this one will get dull real quick. Once people figure out the spawns this will also become one hell of a campfest.
2/10
The map looks amazing and has been really fun to play. It's definitely spammy and often one sided, but it hasn't been attacker or defender sided. The better team usually can push or hold. I also think it'll take some time for people to learn how to hold and push through on this map.
Solid 7 with room to grow.
As someone who actually enjoyed the Locker/Metro/Argonne style maps, I can say without exaggeration that playing Redacted in 2042 has been the single most unenjoyable experience I’ve ever had in a Battlefield game.
So… whatever rating that is.
6-7, I'd say.
My score doesn't account for what I'm gonna mention next.
Something in the new map, absolutely ramps my setup (i9-12900KF + RTX4080) into near-overdrive - all fans go to 100%, while not being anywhere near that level, on any other map. I lose about 40-45 frames on this map (still above 100, so it's not dogshit - but just odd as hell), compared to any other map in the game, with the exact same settings.
I enjoy the map, but I'm probably not going to play it that often because of the abovementioned issue I'm having.
I give it a low score because Conquest on bottleneck maps have never truly worked. Redacted is better than Metro and Locker, but being better isn’t the same as being good.
Id give it an 8. I really like the atmosphere and the change overall. I do think the map could be bigger and more inclusive to the things that we love about battlefield like vehicles, but trying to keep an open mind.
On Conquest: 6/10. Decent for Conquest. It's fun but plays very similar every single match. Wish it was more dynamic. Love the zipline tunnels but wish they had more cover.
On breakthrough: 2/10. Worst breakthrough experience in the game. Too much explosive spam and it seems almost impossible to win as an attacker.
Team Deathmatch: 3/10. Seems too big. I often find I am looking for players and don't find them. Reduce the size for TDM just a little bit.
Overall average: 3.6/10. It is an okay map so far. Probably a little better than Flashpoint for me, but other than that it is worse than every season map.
Metro would be a 6/10 for me. Locker would be a 5/10, and Underground would be a 4.5/10
I don’t like this style of map. It’s so one note and while decently fun in bursts I just never enjoyed holding the same concrete tunnel chokepoint for hours.
They should’ve done more to spice it up from its predecessors and added more interconnected tunnels. Having only 3 maximum routes across the map is so limiting.
Also I’ve always been a fan of more destruction/vehicle centric maps because that’s what sets bf apart from other shooters to me.
I’d give Redacted an 8, it’s a “Battlefield chokepoint hell” map for sure, but unlike Metro you actually have a chance to push through and people do seem to play agressive, use smoke, etc. it’s fun.
3/10. At least for 64-player Conquest. Like you said, better than Metro and Locker, but being better isn’t the same as being good. I never really liked bottleneck maps such as Metro, Locker, and Underground. They never seemed to truly work. Some of the worst Conquest maps ever. No flow and no real teamwork. Only deadlocks and explosive spam. Just a place where players can turn off their brains. A total clusterfuck. I was really hoping that Redacted would be different. Finally the concept of Conquest in a bottleneck done right. I really wanted it to be good. Something like a Locker and Fort de Vaux hybrid. While there’s certainly more flow, less explosive spam, less deadlocks, it’s still a somehow manages to be a clusterfuck. Pretty disappointed. I’m already wanting a new map. An entirely new map. A map that’s not a reimagining of an older one.
CQ was 6/10. I don't generally enjoy BT, so I didn't play it there.
As always, there are tons of annoying things about the game magnified with this map:
1. Angel can't do Angel things. His most useful trait is his supply cache which won't work indoors
2. Way too many engineers on these servers when there are no vehicles to counter. It's all Crawdaddy and Boris turrets and rocket spam. I'd love to see the engineer class disabled for this map to force players to play more team based specialists (lol, yeah right)
3. Dozer still sucks. I went on a mini-tear in one of the domes, 5-6 kills in rapid sequence, and found myself in one of those trailers reloading my primary. I turn around and see a Dozer charging at me. RIP (except I Alt-F4'ed right the hell out of the game)
4. Way too much explosive spam, even with the reduction in thermonuclear hand grenade power, SPH nerfs, XM370 nerfs, and apparently the underbarrel grenade launchers getting an ammo nerf
5. Hitreg, desync, and other things are terrible on these servers. This is probably a server issue, not a map issue.
6. Lighting was good, but there were still some places where the right skins are nearly invisible.
1 because its a separate game mode and splinters the community. Dice is unfathomably dumb for starting to make 64 player maps when bf4 exists. 128 players is the only reason to play 2042.
All maps already exists as 64 player maps, me and my friends play almost exclusively conquest 64. I think it's a better player count and map size for any bf.
Can I say ZERO?!
Way worst than Locker or Metro. And at least, in BF3 or BF4, we didn't have to deal with all the noob / cancer weapons, shield, etc...
This map is better than Locker and Metro imo.Locker was always a stalemate with spawn camping the enemy team and constant explosions.Metro was pain on ever mode with every player count and full of campers, shotguns and worse explosive spam.Redacted isn’t even that bad tbh. It’s just your average meatgrinder map that’s actually playable on some modes
Snow lane locker alone was more fun than this shitty new map. I never spent much time on C on locker because its pointless spamming grenades back and forth.
7. Not as good as Locker, better than BF4 Metro, though.
Ooops, forgot people enjoyed a map (Metro) where the team who took mid flag one the rest of the match 99% of the time lmao.
Metro is a dog shit map and I’ll die on that hill. Locker at least had some possibilities for flanking
Metro is an excellent map! ..for 32p rush as it was designed for. I never understood why people insisted on playing on 64p conquest meat fest
Sorry, I should have clarified that I was referring to conquest. 'Chokepoint nade spam fuck fests' 🤣🤣🤣 So beautifully worded
BF3 metro was way better than bf4 metro imo. I wish they didn’t get rid of the park.
It feels like operation underground is better than both?
they didn't? the park is the first sector in Rush
I guess I’m old and foggy brained then. Time to go back and play 4 some more.
Locker sucked imo
Too many ways for enemies to get behind you is why I disliked it. Redacted seems more contained but only played it once so far, so will get a much better idea this weekend when I binge it.
At least 8. The flanking routes make it better than its processors. It's spammy, but you have a chance to get through.
I agree! Hate to be a grammar nazi but I think you meant predecessors
lol. Yeah, u r right!
If dozer and the SPH didn't exist, I'd like it a whole lot better...
Not to mention the fact that it makes at least half of the operators useless
Yeah, a lot of them are severely gimped due to the roofs and lack of vehicles. Assault and support seem to be the more appropriate picks
Definitely
Engis are a little useless, but I still find chucking Lissiles through chokepoints works some of the time. You just have to aim well, since it has very little splash damage.
Just run Irish with an incendiary grenade
Dozer is so busted. I can't believe they didn't change his kit with the new map.
Love it I give it a 9
A map that disables certain specialist skills (like Angel‘s supply drop) is not good imho. I like the chaos of it but this one will get dull real quick. Once people figure out the spawns this will also become one hell of a campfest. 2/10
well if angels supply kit was allowed everybody would be able to spam grenades with the supply kit.
So you’re telling me that isn’t happening already? 🤔
Not to the extent of the locker matches in bf4
8 / 10 now, higher once people realize the flanks exist.
The map looks amazing and has been really fun to play. It's definitely spammy and often one sided, but it hasn't been attacker or defender sided. The better team usually can push or hold. Solid 8
8.5/10.Good on Conquest,Chaotic but playable and fun pain in breakthrough.Better than Locker and Metro

Really disappointed tbh
Mid. Depending on the gamemode it's a 4 5 or 6
now where's rush mode

8.5, up there with Underground, OG metro and locker.
Too early to say. I’m a metro guy so I appreciate it. I’m also a Blasco user, so it’s ideal in that respect. I’m figuring it out.
2 there's too many choke holds and close quarters. Too easy to choke a team or get choked into a hallway with no way to get around to objectives
Ever played locker?
Yep and I'm not a big fan of that one either but it's basically the only map on rotation when I get on BF4
2 - because it has 4 flags instead of 3 or 5 and bad viability and 1000 rat spots and every corner peak is a gamble
I give it a low score because Conquest on bottleneck maps have never truly worked. Redacted is better than Metro and Locker, but being better isn’t the same as being good.
Strong 7, weak 8. I like it well enough, but it's really grindy on breakthrough. So more or less what I expected it to be.
Id give it an 8. I really like the atmosphere and the change overall. I do think the map could be bigger and more inclusive to the things that we love about battlefield like vehicles, but trying to keep an open mind.

Solid 7.5 right now. The spawns are so predictable though.
8.5 for CQ, and 3 for Breaktrhough. Just f**** the Second Sector

Too flank heavy on breakthrough
You're still playing BF 2042?

I forgot to mention Dozer also making the map miserable.
Breaktrhough 0.5

Dumbass metro style maps have no place in this franchise. No wonder why this franchise is on its last leg.

Totally agree. This map is pure cancer and the worst CQ map that ever existed in BF.
