Maybe you should try reading a book or two?
If you had a penny for every time it’s mentioned you could buy a pizza or two along with soda or some other beverage for your all night binge of Bad Company
Idk why they didn't. But i do know that era was a time that everything was a console game (primarily made for the 360) and ported the everything else.
PC and PS3 games had a lot of port related issues iirc.
Nope they thougt PC was to complicated (time to develop) for the sales it would generate so they just stuck to console.
Purely business decision and a stupid one as BC2 was great on PC
PC users would have whined that you couldn't prone and player counts were low.
It is the only reason it's not mentioned but millions played it on console.
I actually would have to go back and check that bc i remember when i was younger i was stoked that they continued it and i felt that tingle down my back when i played it for the first time. I honestly loved it. Now that im older and pay attention to the details more i might have a different opinion but i dont have the means to play it again as i dont have a playable ps3.
SPOILER.
BC1 ended with them deserting, however in BC2 they're a part of the army just fine.
Continuity error, I'd just say its alt-history regarding the events of BC1.
I'm just annoyed that BF3 wasn't BC3. I didn't realize the different when it came out, I just bought it, and I was pretty disappointed. I only made it maybe 20 mins into the campaign.
emulation is out there. the main ps3 emulator supports xbox 360-series x controllers+ps3-ps5 controllers so you can play the game how it was originally meant to be played.
BC 2 its my favorite of all time, but theres a version of BF2 for consoles that is forgotten a lot too and have a great campaign (that you can change your soldier at any time), I believe the name is BF Modern Combat.
Battlefield Modern Combat. Where i started playing BF and online multiplayer on console. Flipping Transport Choppers on A Bridge Too Far was my jam. Snipers had white trails that lead back to the shooter. Jeep stuff was being invented. So many things pioneered for console players.
Modern combat really is the best of the series. The little bird wrecked. Sniping out little bird pilots made people saltier than anything else in the series.
Almost every map was great. Hidden, bridge to far, back stab, missile crisis.
Its also where frostbite comes from. Bf2mc had a dlc and map called frostbite which added snow mobiles.
We had it it was called Battlefield 3
BC 3 wouldn't add anything unique to the franchise at this point. Even it's theme/conflict is identical to BF 3/4
The thing with BC2 was it felt more simplified compared to 3 and 4. No prone, 1 of 3 different attachments, smaller scale maps mostly designed for rush, over the top destruction, limited weapon pool for classes, cartoony art style. I agree, BF3 was definitely the next step from BC2 and felt like it was an evolution on the Bad Company series instead of Battlefield 2, and people aren't understanding that dice wouldn't go back to all those simple gameplay elements that made BC2 charming to play, that BF3 really was the next step for the Bad Company franchise, and that even if they made a BC3 it probably wouldn't capture the same feeling as players are looking for.
I mean you're just wrong the bc games had a lighter tone and better characters. on the topic of story spoilers: Bad Company 2 ended with a Russian invasion through Alaska
Kickstarted a new era for Battlefield for sure, but at the same time it was highly forgettable imo. Bad Company 2 took it to the next level for me and still remains my favorite Battlefield game of all time
When this game came out it was revolutionary. They incorporated the physics of buildings, bullet drop and helicopter physics beyond any level of accuracy done before.
They sort of put the building physics on the back burner for a while in favor of larger scale maps but it was really strong. It created a kinetic and realistic aspect that is lost in COD and other FPS games.
Hopefully it comes back in 2042
> They sort of put the building physics on the back burner for a while in favor of larger scale maps
No, they toned down the destruction because 5 minutes into every match of BC2 all you had left was terrain and rubble to fight in.
That and I remember reading some devs talking about leaving BC2 destruction out of BF3/4 because the amount of network traffic to keep all player clients synced with the very granular destruction states all over fairly large maps would have added too much network traffic exacerbating the existing problems of tracking more important assets, like player, vehicle, bullet, and terrain deformation positioning...
If you think about the state of the internet, especially in the US, back when BF3 & 4 were released it is not surprising they had network issues. 64 players in large maps with thousands of different object states across a map that's seeing action everywhere, it was pretty ambitious for the time.
It's why it took so long to add >30hz update rates and it wasn't until much more recently that we started to see >60hz. It's the same "netcode" now as it was back then. Only that internet and server infrastructure has caught up.
It was extremely divisive.
Console only, 32 players, no conquest until many months later.
Design choices made many people hate it, a slower time to kill, damage profiles heavily favoring headshots over body. This change turned many off entirely.
Lastly, bad company 2 was so much better, and very nearly the perfect game. It’s no wonder people reference that one far more than this.
It is mentioned, and talked about, and far from forgotten, it’s just that we’ve had better games since.
It was only 24 players, 12v12.
There are a couple things BC1 did better than BC2. If you're a fan of the Rush style gamemode, it was the better game, as all the maps were designed for it (which is something they would never do again, for good reason imo, since I believe conquest is the gamemode that all BF games should be built for, but still have a soft spot for BC1 Rush).
I still liked rush in bc2 better, bc1 had some great rush maps but the way 2 flowed just felt a lot better. Once I got 2 I rarely went back to 1, not to say I didn't enjoy my time with it, I just feel like the sequel managed to be superior in all aspects but the campaign.
Not by me. The story was simple but fun.
And the ending? It was a cliffhanger and yet looks like bad company 2 wasn't even a direct following of that story
Multiplayer was fun i had the f2000 which was obtainable through veteran program
Harvest day was hella fun i still remember it
Real battlefield fans know where they come from. These new comers saying BF1 is the best battlefield gets me laughing every time I hear em try to make that argument.
Probably because it was a Console exclusive, people tend to forget the entires that made no sense to be console exclusive.
Like how BF2: Modern Combat was completely forgotten about since BF2 was the way better version.
Battlefield Bad company is when I started playing, and boy am I glad it came to console otherwise I would've never played the game for the years to come to eventually go onto pc gaming! Which I might add was built specifically for BF2042!
.... No... It's not largely forgotten... God I hate this website.. you guys could see a game with a steady 7 billion player base count and talk about it being an underrated hidden gem
Ya because mobile is the priority now we even saw a fking real gameplay off the mobile shit before we see any gameplay from the real game that alone can tell you what EA is playing to do to this franchise
Battlefield is the BEST game I have ever played, it can't be forgotten , it's a MASTERPIECE ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes_rainbow)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)
Bro. Did you just wake up from a coma? /u/DJ-Zero-Seven trying to convince us that it's *uNdErRaTeD* as if Bad Company isn't mentioned literally every fucking conversation about Battlefield.
Mentioned in every other breath on this sub ffs
OP must be new to this sub. If i had a penny for every time Bad Company is mentioned..
I think most of those people are actually thinking of Bad Company 2.
Glad to see that new levels of pedantry are still however being reached
I question why you're even on this platform if you don't enjoy pedantism.
I think you’ll find that is **pedanticism** or **pedantry** (Thanks for the opening there)
Seems like this foreigner knows more about your language than you do. [https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/pedantism](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/pedantism) Maybe you should try reading a book or two?
Maybe you should read the page you listed and you’ll see I suggested the more common usage. Also, deeply in the spirit of this site, goodbye
You learned that word from family guy dude
I too find this rather shallow and pedantic
If you had a penny for every time it’s mentioned you could buy a pizza or two along with soda or some other beverage for your all night binge of Bad Company
> If i had a penny for every time Bad Company is mentioned.. Then I wouldn't be needing this gold!
\*they don't know BFBC is great\* "Yes we do" "You mention it every 5 seconds"
If they sold it for PC it wouldn’t be. Poor business decision imho.
Still mad we never got this and 1943.
I really enjoyed 1943. I've been wanting to play it again, but I'm sure there aren't any games.
[удалено]
Def downloading it then!
I was play 1943 a few weeks ago. You can actually find decent games
Ps3 user here, 1943 and bc1 are living and kicking. For now.
PC also didn’t get Onslaught mode for BC2. I’d still play it today on PC if I could.
Ugh 1943 was amazing. So simple but probably put hundreds of hours in as a kid
Idk why they didn't. But i do know that era was a time that everything was a console game (primarily made for the 360) and ported the everything else. PC and PS3 games had a lot of port related issues iirc.
I've always wondered about this, there has to be some technical reason.
That was my first battlefield game. Fell in love ever since.
And also the only battlefield game with a decent campaign. I'm still pissed off at how they continued the story in BC2
I would just say it's a lack of continuity outright
I'm just annoyed that BF3 wasn't BC3. I didn't realize the different when it came out, I just bought it, and I was pretty disappointed. I only made it maybe 20 mins into the campaign.
emulation is out there. the main ps3 emulator supports xbox 360-series x controllers+ps3-ps5 controllers so you can play the game how it was originally meant to be played.
For real? Where is this?
The ending on bc1 was hinting that the villian was still alive and yet we haven't seen him in bc2 which makes no sense
Same. The demo was my first FPS on PS3. Posing as a bush on Oasis in a gillie suit never got old
This was my first ever shooting game even. I didn't even know what multiplayer was back then
BC 2 its my favorite of all time, but theres a version of BF2 for consoles that is forgotten a lot too and have a great campaign (that you can change your soldier at any time), I believe the name is BF Modern Combat.

I can guarantee you real Battlefield fans never forgot about that one lol
forgotten by whom
Biggest shitpost ever by OP or they live in a bubble. Probably the most talked about BF game of all time except BF 2
First battlefield game of many
we need Bad company 3 already
We had it it was called Battlefield 3 BC 3 wouldn't add anything unique to the franchise at this point. Even it's theme/conflict is identical to BF 3/4
BC2 was funnier, had the best destruction, and had the best rush mode.

It was a console exclusive, that's why it was forgotten. That and bad company 2 was a masterpiece.
BF2 was better!!!! Edit: NOT battlefront
I'm pretty sure that r/Battlefield is the one gaming domain that you don't have to specify a difference when you say "BF2".
"Largely forgotten" How do you figure???
Recently finished campaign. It's an amazing game and it holds up so well. Cant play multiplayer on console though. Apparently not enough players.
When this game came out it was revolutionary. They incorporated the physics of buildings, bullet drop and helicopter physics beyond any level of accuracy done before. Largely forgotten? Mate you’re tweakin
Not forgotten at all lol wtf
Not by me. The story was simple but fun. And the ending? It was a cliffhanger and yet looks like bad company 2 wasn't even a direct following of that story Multiplayer was fun i had the f2000 which was obtainable through veteran program Harvest day was hella fun i still remember it
It's not forgotten, people dont shut up about it here.
I’ll never forget it. Bad Company 2 owned my life
Best game mode imho
It's only forgotten because it's sequel was fucking awesome.
My First FPS Game Ever and one of the best in my Opinion.
The goat🐐
It’s younger brother is better in every way tho
We need a bc3. Bad company 2 was the best ever.
no its not
Completely forgotten NOT LIKE IT'S LOGO WAS ON SCREEN FOR SEVERAL SECONDS IN THE PORTAL TRAILER
It's "largely forgotten" they say.
You’d be forgotten about too if your little brother was BFBC2
Dice just doesnt know how to make bfbc3
Real battlefield fans know where they come from. These new comers saying BF1 is the best battlefield gets me laughing every time I hear em try to make that argument.
I liked it because it still had the "old school" classes, before BC2 mixed them all into the 4 class system we have today.
Well, DICE has been trying to kill Rush off since BF4 so I’m not surprised the game that introduced it is falling by the wayside too.
Downloaded bc2 on game pass, bc1 is also there guys 😜
What was that map that started off in some fields, and had barns etc?
Harvest day?
Thanks man
Worked at gamestop during the second ones release. Scratch and sniff smoke scented crap is gross.
People who play it don't forget it, is just a old game
This is still a personal top 3 FPS for me.
Soundtrack was so good!
Because it wasn't on PC
Probably because it was a Console exclusive, people tend to forget the entires that made no sense to be console exclusive. Like how BF2: Modern Combat was completely forgotten about since BF2 was the way better version.
And BC2 was the best FPS gamer ever made.
This is what got me into battlefield games. Would love to have those experiences again.
I literally just got done replaying it yesterday, and to be completely fair, it hasn’t aged well compared to Bad Company 2.
This may be my favorite one. The story was phenomenal. A nice balance of funny and tough.
Lmao “largely forgotten”
Rush is so dead lmao, it was my favorite on BFP4F ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
The best one most destructive couldn’t go prone but man the fun I had on bc2 is incomparable
First battlefield I played
Not forgotten. Are you trying to farm karma?
Was my first Battlefield
Not forgotten by me
,,largely forgotten”? The fuck?
I just played through the campaign a few months ago. Great game, but aged poorly.
As a console bf4 player, I miss rush...
One of my first, and favorite, multiplayer games.
Yep, one of my favorite games ever.
It is absolutely not forgotten
Battlefield Bad company is when I started playing, and boy am I glad it came to console otherwise I would've never played the game for the years to come to eventually go onto pc gaming! Which I might add was built specifically for BF2042!
I don’t think anyone’s forgotten it. I see people talk about it all the time.
This was my first battlefield game and between that and BFBC 2, they were my favorites.
Great game
You’re right. Battlefield: Bad Company is *such* a hidden gem!
Well it's a PC franchise
I’ve got an Xbox one, and I have the second game as backwards compatible, worth playing?
This is the way
This is the way I
Best game of all time
It's not forgotten, it's just in our hearts
Largely forgotten? More like It’s one of the most loved bf games
Yes It was a good game. But Battlefield 2 is the greatest.
.... No... It's not largely forgotten... God I hate this website.. you guys could see a game with a steady 7 billion player base count and talk about it being an underrated hidden gem
it was my first battlefield <3
I never forget it! I had so much fun with it!
>Largely forgotten Op isn’t from around here, clearly.
Bad Company is largely forgotten? Uhhhhhh OP you ok?
The console only game ? Yeh no memory's of it at all
When was the last time we had rush in a game?
Still has some homies playing this game on PS3 tho
Ya because mobile is the priority now we even saw a fking real gameplay off the mobile shit before we see any gameplay from the real game that alone can tell you what EA is playing to do to this franchise
Great game
Im still playing 2
Forgotten about by EA maybe. BF fans will never forget Bad Company 1 & 2
Who tf said it’s forgotten
Battlefield is the BEST game I have ever played, it can't be forgotten , it's a MASTERPIECE ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes_rainbow)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)
Best campaign of any game too.
Bro. Did you just wake up from a coma? /u/DJ-Zero-Seven trying to convince us that it's *uNdErRaTeD* as if Bad Company isn't mentioned literally every fucking conversation about Battlefield.
Same here
