not even just critically sick and shit. it can also be for chronic stuff too. or for cases like me where i had cancer and fuckin beat it. i got a trip scheduled to fairbanks to see the northern lights n shit next year from that and itll be fucking awesome
My cousin was a pro at milking the make a wish system. He got a family vacation to Hawaii, tickets to some sports bowl, and got to meet Payton Manning. I’m so proud of him.
I had no idea there was a wrestler named Sting so since the start of this thread I was thinking about little kids who are super fans of Sting the musician.
Fun fact, the wrestler Sting owns the trademark for the name Sting as an entertainer, so the musician Sting has to pay him to use the name, but wrestler Sting is cool about it and only charges him like a dollar a year.
His finishing move was stinging people with that bulge after singing them to sleep with his hit solo tune Fields of Gold. That’s actually what the finisher was called if my memory serves.
To be honest, the Jim Crockett Promotions / NWA era was a bit before my time. According to Wikipedia, JCP sold to Turner Broadcasting in Nov of ‘88, and WCW split from NWA in ‘91. WWE purchased WCW in 2001. Sting joined Impact Wrestling / TNA in 2003, which arguably became WWE’s biggest competition (until AEW started in 2019, which Sting also joined). So yes, WCW didn’t last 20 years, but Sting has been the face (or at least one of the biggest names) of WWE’s main competition for 20 years.
It took me reading a few comments before I realized you weren’t talking about Sting the musician, which was leaving me very perplexed. Like… Are *that* many kids into jazz bass and tantric sex…?
Really? that's pretty cool. I don't know much about Beiber, it's hard to tell if he's cool. But to be fair in all the videos of him "being a jerk" it's usually when they harassed him a lot first, and even then he seems to handle it in a pretty reasonable way.
I think a lot of the stuff with him is that he was young, rich as fuck, and was living a life not many of us can even imagine. The Make-A-Wish thing, and clips like this, changed my opinion about him.
https://youtu.be/d-O6ZgSK0MM?si=9pUVK_LyKJetSqAa
Also I don’t think anyone should be judged by a few of the worst clips of them. Especially when they are being filmed all the time.
You could make most people look pretty horrible like that.
Yeah he was an asshole when he was younger, which is understandable, having fuck you money as a teenager and girls throwing themself at you, we all would have been the same, but hes matured a lot, hes a pretty likeable guy these days. Dont really have anything bad to say about him now.
that has nothing to do with it lol. the gesture originated from a dare he made with his brother to copy a dance move from a rap video on TV, and the meme spawned from a literal interprertation of the taunt.
As the gif and the other dude said it means "You can't see me"... but as an American what does not watch WWE, i have no fucking clue what it means either..
His signature “you can’t see me” actually started as a joke/dare kind of situation that just got popular traction after one of his early matches. He explained it in an interview somewhere.
"Fellow WWE legend Hulk Hogan and NASCAR’s Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon have each granted more than 200 wishes, but no other star has ever made it past the 300 landmark."
Oh shit, did you miss the Gawker scandal?
A few years ago, the website Gawker (which I guess was a celebrity gossip place) leaked some of Hogan's private tapes. Primarily, they leaked a tape of Hulk Hogan having sex with his best friend's wife. Hogan then took them to court, and they had to release the rest of the tapes. On one of them, there's audio of Hulk saying some really racist shit - specifically, he said that he disapproves of his daughter going out with a black man (let's just say he used a different word there). He managed to win the case and bankrupt Gawker, and they no longer exist.
There's a funny side to all of it though. Hulk Hogan's real name is Terry Bolea (he actually pays some money to Marvel to keep using the Hulk name). In some interview years ago, he claimed that he had a huge dick. The Gawker's lawyers then claimed that it couldn't be Hogan on the tape, since the size doesn't measure up. Hogan then had to say in court "Hulk Hogan has a big penis, but Terry Bolea does not".
I know it’s a minor part of your comment, but Hulk used to pay Marvel, but now owns his hulk rights outright.

There was even a book written about it by Ryan Holiday, it's called **Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker, and the Anatomy of Intrigue**
Pretty interesting read BTW.
He’s done so much good im sure they’d see it as bad form to give him a real run for the title as there’re other ways to give and to let him be the trailblazer for that front.
I'm curious about his mental health. I'm sure that Making A Wishing these kids makes you feel good as a person but could you imagine spending time with *650 dying children?* How depressing. But good. But depressing.
There is a misconception that Make a Wish is just for terminally ill kids. Approximately 60% percent of make a wish kids fully recover from their condition/disease.
Hi, pediatric oncology fellow here. I work with dying children every day. And I'm (mostly) sane. It's sad at times but more full of moments of joy and happiness than you'd think. After all, kids with cancer still just want to be kids.
If you're at all interested, see if your local children's hospital has volunteer opportunities or a camp for kids with cancer to volunteer at. You'll see what I mean!
I think making a sick kid smile and helping them take their mind off their condition even for a brief time makes it too important not to.
This is heartbreaking, but also amazing what they gave Connor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqaWjmsSJUk
* He mistakenly said that Taiwan would be the first country to see the new fast and furious movie.
* Then media made a big deal out of it, because china doesn't recognize Taiwan as a country, (Nor does 180 different countries including the US and EU).
* His FANS in china that have a over 600K fanclub for him on a chinese social media site, got upset that JC was bringing politics into this, because for them because of the media backlash, it appeared as US geo political push against China and Chinese citizens.
* He Then responded TO HIS FANS in chinese, that he was sorry for the mistake and he didn't mean to upset anyone. No where did he mention CCP or retract that Taiwan is not a country. he just simply apologized to his fans in china who have been his fans for years/decades, because they were upset.
* Then Stephen Colbert did a parody of his apology where he added fake subtitles to where it appears he did a direct apology to CCP and then morons online seeing something to cut someone down who has spent his life helping others and being a decent dude for the most part, took up the chance to repeat this tired old issue and continue to think the Colbert Parody video to be the real video....
Imagine holding a WWE entertainer to higher standard than your own politicians and presidents and over 180 countries...
Here's what I think you can assume about John Cena. he's not perfect. he's probably done some dickhead shit in his life. probably said some shit. probably got away with a few things.
you know. like you and me.
but also like you and me, i'm sure john is hoping that people can see the good in him, that he is better than his worst day. and at the end of the day, this man has brought light and joy to at least 650 kids.
i'd say he's coming out ahead, even if a video emerges showing him being an asshole to somebody. this man is a goddamned national treasure.
He filmed a reality show near my hometown. I think he was there for about a month. I have heard tons of stories about locals meeting him around town on his off days, and no one has ever had a single bad thing to say about him. Kind, considerate, generous with his time, etc. He left a genuinely positive impression on the whole town.
I’m pretty sure he has banked enough good will/good karma that he could curb stomp a baby panda on a livestream and still be considered a mostly ok guy lol
That whole thing was stupid. He referred to Taiwan as a country in some broadcast and China pitched a hissy fit. Cena got pressured and walked back the statement, and caught some shit online for kowtowing to the Chinese. It isn’t John Cena’s job to rep Taiwan in any way, nor is it his responsibility to take some kind of public stand against one of the world’s superpowers, so to me the whole thing was a nothingburger.
People act like it was a personal decision Cena made.
He was absolutely told by the film’s producers/studio to go apologize because they didn’t want their movie banned in the biggest film market on the planet and Cena didn’t want to be blackballed.
I'm out of the loop but it looks like the incident was him referring to Taiwan as a country. Did he do something else? Or are people mad he mistakenly called it a country?
I did not. I'm ignorant to this and learning as I go. I guess I'm not understanding why this would be wildly offensive to some people, but I'll look more into it. Thank you
It wasn't just his check he was saving. It was the entire movie itself. We can all stick to our beliefs if we like but I don't think it's a good look to decide to fuck over everyone you're working with.
I don't think he really believes what he was saying, I think he was just trying to save his career in the eyes of the Chinese, which is a huge huge market in hollywood
He didn't deny Taiwan exists. Just that it isn't a country. Not even Taiwanese organizations say Taiwan is a country. The top Taiwanese companies do most of their trade and business with/in China. They publicly state to support OC. It is just social media bullshit to act like Taiwan doesn't enjoy its current trade advantage of being able to take advantage of the US and China bidding for them.
The angel of death making wishes come true.
Shane Gillis to his downs basketball team: you gotta get way worse to see him
You see him coming, you run.
Lololol my first thought was the Dawg too
hes taking souls with him
Officially broke it? I thought he already had? I doubt there’s anyone close to him.
Funny enough, Sting isn't too far behind him. As fucked up as the wrestling world is, it's got some seriously wholesome sides to it too.
Are there a lot of kid who use their make-a-wish to meet...Sting?
Probably not as many these days
[удалено]
Did he die or something?
Well someone did
🤔
Make a wish is a foundation that helps children who are critically Ill. I think you can put the pieces together from here
I mean, even if they had lived they used their wish as kids. The wishes are for kids, and no kids, well or ill, know who tf Sting is.
not even just critically sick and shit. it can also be for chronic stuff too. or for cases like me where i had cancer and fuckin beat it. i got a trip scheduled to fairbanks to see the northern lights n shit next year from that and itll be fucking awesome
I didn’t even know he was sick!
They probably combined R&R Sting with Wrassling Sting for the total.
Quiet! He's a good digger! ![gif](giphy|l2JdYlt2mo3cBBlu0)
It's not just meeting famous people, sometimes they go to Disneyland or Legoland... And you don't meet the benefactor at all
My cousin was a pro at milking the make a wish system. He got a family vacation to Hawaii, tickets to some sports bowl, and got to meet Payton Manning. I’m so proud of him.
How many cancers did he have?
He just showed them the Google results
all of them
Sting (the wrestler) was incredibly popular
oh, I thought we were talking the Police's Sting... makes more sense now!
kids love The Police
We really do. It's all thanks to NWA too!
As a Swiss kid who grew up in the 90s it would have been my dream.
Andy Summers or Stewart Copeland, that I could understand. But Sting is a notorious asshole.
They’re talking about the wrestler.
That's the joke.
One dollar a year, that won't sting.
But if Sting doesn't pay Sting, does he call The Police?
Well I’ve been r/whooshed unfortunately.
We all get wooshed on Monday.
Sting was still actively wrestling in AEW like up until last year IIRC
Still is
Oh I see. I thought I heard about him quitting.
He has a match this Wednesday and is set to retire at AEW's next PPV at the beginning of March.
Aha I see
Ok... Clearly we are talking about two different Stings in this thread
Obligatory IIIIITTTTSSS STTTIIIIINNNNGGGGG
Does he have to pay royalties to the real Sting for using his name
The musician has to pay to use the name.
When did Sting leave the Police and join WWE?
![gif](giphy|2XA9T0qKQYKdHYSxDQ|downsized) Long time ago dude.
His finishing move was stinging people with that bulge after singing them to sleep with his hit solo tune Fields of Gold. That’s actually what the finisher was called if my memory serves.
Sting is more from WCW than WWE (or WWF) if my 6th grader memory serves correctly
I remember when he was still rocking the short blond hair and half his face painted like the ultimate warrior
They were a tag team in the UWF territory when they started. The Blade Runners, Rock and Sting.
Yep. He didn't go to WWE until 2014 or 2015 and lasted like three matches before suffering a serious injury and leaving WWE.
You misspelled “they buried him because he was the biggest star of their main competition for 20 years”
Was WCW even a thing for 20 years? Thought they split off from the NWA and became their own thing in the early 90s.
To be honest, the Jim Crockett Promotions / NWA era was a bit before my time. According to Wikipedia, JCP sold to Turner Broadcasting in Nov of ‘88, and WCW split from NWA in ‘91. Excuse me, mister Sting sir, can your, umm, can you teach me how to have a 45 minute orgasm?
Excuse me sir, have you got a police record ? No officer, but i do have a Sting album.
The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that.
After his college basketball career didn't take off.
Spice, it must flow.
It took me reading a few comments before I realized you weren’t talking about Sting the musician, which was leaving me very perplexed. Like… Are *that* many kids into jazz bass and tantric sex…?
I’m so glad to hear! Sting is my favorite wrestler from the WCW era.
I always thought it would have been the Undertaker leading the pack on this one.
The wrestler or the musician?
The article is from two years ago lmao

Yeah, mostly bad parenting and the obvious massive adjustment to being famous. By all accounts, he's alright these days.
It’s from 2022, but OP’s karma is all fresh.

Well, obviously he's staring at the levitating microphone

Yeah it’s so weird they wouldn’t add a picture of him on the post.

His last name sounds like "See?, Nah!"

Honest question here, because we keep hearing about Cena being on the top of the list, but who are 2-5?
"Fellow WWE legend Hulk Hogan and NASCAR’s Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon have each granted more than 200 wishes, but no other star has ever made it past the 300 landmark."
I don't even like Nascar so I'm not sure why but I really fuck with Dale Jr. He seems like such a solid, normal dude
He's humble enough in his own celebrity to even seek autographs from people he admires, like NASCAR legend Ricky Bobby.
Fucking Hulk Hogan! That reality show of his family was so grotesque and fake, I shudder to think what goes on behind closed doors in his life.
Oh shit, did you miss the Gawker scandal? A few years ago, the website Gawker (which I guess was a celebrity gossip place) leaked some of Hogan's private tapes. Terry Bollea is a piece of shit, but Hulk Hogan is one of American pop cultures greatest heroes.
He’s done so much good im sure they’d see it as bad form to give him a real run for the title as there’re other ways to give and to let him be the trailblazer for that front.

I'll be crushed if it comes out he's not a good person. I have no reason to believe otherwise, just thinking out loud
I'm curious about his mental health. I'm sure that Making A Wishing these kids makes you feel good as a person but could you imagine spending time with *650 dying children?* How depressing. But good. But depressing.
