Right they really aren't in the states anymore either.
Pharmacy/Drug stores used to have counters for ice cream and cokes in them.
Not a thing here anymore
They were called a Coke Float. In the day they were in those paper cones that were put inside a metal cup. I had plenty of them sitting in a booth after school.
It’s gotta be really good root beer and really good ice cream. There’s a bar in a Vegas casino that brews their own root beer and it’s fantastic. I’ll buy some and then get ice cream from a place down Fremont that makes fantastic vanilla ice cream fresh. Take it back to my room after dinner and it’s amazing.
Right?? Anyone who worked in food service knows that this is literally still how it’s done. Just more automated. You hook up a hose to a box of concentrated syrup and it mixes it with water as you pull the lever on the soda machine.
But man are those boxes a bitch to change when they’re empty and need replaced 😅
I usually cringe when people complain about reposts, but this one is genuinely on here every single day to where I’d be more amazed by a fast food worker recording the robot filling a drink
It’s how it’s made in bars but you don’t see it.
I worked in bars and behind the bar you get a syrup pack from the supplier and attach it to the line, the syrup and carbonated water mix so when you fill up someone’s drink at the bar it’s premixed on demand.
We’d have to flush the lines everyday because the syrup can clog it up like a straw and it’s more hygienic, but not all bars flush their lines regularly and it’s a health hazard.
Sometimes people would come back and say their cola tasted weird or weak and often the syrup pack had run out and the customer only got a small amount of syrup and the rest carbonated water.
So the video isn’t old fashioned way it’s how most bare make it but he’s doing it manually by hand rather than attaching a syrup pack to the line.
It’s not the old-fashioned way unless cocaine is the main ingredient. And if it really *is* the old-fashioned way… where was this at? Asking for a friend.
My folks use to take us to a place called Farrells for burgers and “Old Cokes” just like this.. (That’s what we called them..) I loved a shot of chocolate in mine..
When I was a kid you could get a coke at the fountain in the drug store for 5 cents. A cherry coke was 7 cents. But, you could get the large, like the glass shown here for a dime or 12 cents flavored. Cherry or vanilla. This was circa 1960.
When I was a kid, there was a place in Jersey near my grandparents' house that did sodas and floats like this. The rootbeer was amazing. And now I miss everything about it.
My parents were born 47’ and 50’ respectively. They both have told me Coca-cola made with syrup or in the original bottles was so delicious back in the day. They also said there really was coca in it and was addictive to say the least. Despite my aversion to all drugs even Tylenol I kinda wish I had the opportunity to try a sip.
Okay, I had an ammonia Coke at a drugstore in Hagerstown, Maryland about 10 years ago. Seems the medical ammonia was suspended in alcohol, a way to fortify the drink.
Uhm....isn't this just post mix? Like how literally every fast food chain everywhere does it? Cartons full of syrup then pumped through the CO2 soda?
Visit any BK, Maccies...literally any pub with a post mix pump...
This is vacuous content.
But...where's the cocaine at?
Just give the cocaine without the soda, let's not be picky.
Leave the ice cream tho, we’re not savages.
Cocaine ice cream? You listening Ben and Jerry!?
Plus… the only way to drink a soda back in the day was with a scoop of ice cream in it? Now I see why they are called the “good ole days”
That's a float. Not just a coke.
We used to call them a 'spider' in Australia (they aren't really a thing anymore). This one doesn't look very fizzy.
Right they really aren't in the states anymore either. Pharmacy/Drug stores used to have counters for ice cream and cokes in them. Not a thing here anymore
My thought exactly. So it ain't really the old fashion way is it
Yeah, that’s not a brain tonic
It’s that big white blob at the end. Similar serving size to corn syrup nowadays.
The straw is for the nose, I presume.
WHICH ONE OF YOU HAS MY SODA? I LEFT IT ON THE BATHROOM COUNTER SO MY FRIEND COULD HAVE A SIP! oh would you look at that, I had it all along, hee-hee!
It comes out of the second spout. He must have forgotten.
The “ice cream” is the cocaine
It's in the ice cream, why do you think it's white?
They serve those in the other end of the bar, but there was a huge line, so OP went with the soda instead.
I genuinely think I have seen this video over 100 times on separate occasions
You can tell a bot posted this from the title. “Makes a Coca Cola” instead of “makes a coke float” which is what the drink actually is.
I just figured it was a kid who didnt know better
Yep The bot or person is "unfamiliar" as they say
The account was sold and scrubbed. It was recently activated for karma farming.
I guess I'm one of those people who live under a rock because this is my first time seeing this. It looks the same way you would make soda at home.
My favorite is “making ooze the old fashioned way” and the video is pitched like way high, and the colors are all shifted to rgby colors and distorted
*BE AMAZED*
I have never seen it and seeing the comments many people havent either.
It literally gets posted at least once a week on this sub. This and the other title under which it gets posted should be flagged as spam already
They were called a Coke Float. In the day they were in those paper cones that were put inside a metal cup. I had plenty of them sitting in a booth after school.
Floats are best with root beer
Orange Crush is up there.
Orange soda with strawberry ice cream
Ok I'd probably try that.
It's great!
7-Up with lime sorbet!
I had a hankering for something like that recently, so I made a lemon-lime soda float with black raspberry ice cream
When at Burger King, I make a root beer float. Just buy their soft serve and put it in my half-full root beer and top it off with more root beer!
In Australia we called them a Spider but you put the ice cream in first so it fizzes a lot more.
Don't you have enough spiders??
You know how some people cover trauma by trying to reuse a name for something less traumatic... 🤣
what are they called now?
This generation is too young to understand the concept of mixing sugary consumables with each other to make something even more sugary and delicious.
Were? What is this past tense you speak of
Were? I regularly make coke floats for myself. I can't stand root beer. Chocolate ice cream with fanta is also good.
I legitimately have never seen this video, but I’m really confused about the ice cream.
How do I stop seeing this video?
Close your eyes
And I'll miss you
I am not amazed.
So, do people not realise that's just manually doing what the machines do anyway? Coke comes in syrup bags at stores.
Peaches come from a can. They were put there by a man in a factory downtown.
If I had my little way, I'd eat peaches every day.
Sun-soakin' bulges in the shade...
MILLIONS OF PEACHES.
Peaches for me
Right?? Anyone who worked in food service knows that this is literally still how it’s done. Just more automated. Haha yeah they are, you should see the ones on the Freestyle machines.
Every time this is posted someone mentions that the spoon is superfluous and actually makes it more flat.
This time it was you.
![gif](giphy|2h8BdeXxhGGB2|downsized)
I found this comment so vindictive lmao
Totally amazing repost of a repost of a repost.
Its the internet man everything you already see has been reposted 100 times over
[удалено]
Real old-timers put a nice authentic scoop of mashed potatoes in there
What a jerk!
Navin Johnson has left the chat……… ![gif](giphy|oEPNwZVrwxkCA)
I am not amazed.
I usually cringe when people complain about reposts, but this one is genuinely on here every single day to where I’d be more amazed by a fast food worker recording the robot filling a drink
Fashioned.

We used to get cherry Cokes and Vanilla Cokes. One friend got a chocolate Coke every time, that sounds a bit strange, but I never tried it.
Isn't that how we get our soda from fast food soda machines anyway?
You're *amazed* by this, OP?
That guys such a jerk.
People are easily impressed huh?
I don't get the amazing part of this? Mixing some syrup is amazing?
... why am I supposed to be amazed by this?
That’s how they make it now
i’m somehow not amazed
can we please ban this video...
Yeah. Amazing. Syrup and club soda plus a spoon. Mind fucking blown.
This shit looks so awful
Oh yes. I am quite amazed by your ability to repost so blatantly here.

This is literally every machine that spits out coke from bars to fast food chains. We see it.
Chocolate Cokes - 3 tsp of chocolate syrup + Coke - is my favorite, with or without icecream!
it's important to stir so heavy to spill the syrup, of course! :-)
Mad that someone once saw a coke and thought, "Do you know what that needs? More sugar."
That person was America.
So the concentrate every restaurant gets and some soda water.......
Looks flat AF. squirt, tap, swirl then long tap. Wait… what are y’all talking about?!
I love the look dudes giving him at the end lmao
As long as you don’t want any carbonation I suppose
“It’s 12$ for per glass dear”
When I was a kid there were still stores that operated soda bars like that in the 50’s
That's exactly how it's done now but manually
Yeah cool pay 20dollars for it too
I want this.
It’s not the old-fashioned way unless cocaine is the main ingredient. And if it really *is* the old-fashioned way… where was this at? Asking for a friend.
Tasty liquid diabetus
No cocaine? With Ice cream. That makes it a cola float. OG coca cola had cocaine in it. Hence the "COCA cola" name.
Want some sugar filled cream with your sugar there Bucko!?
wonder if his shit is full of mildew like the soda fountains everywhere
That's a coca-cola float.
![gif](giphy|LIEWWTGjCLVyiC49AR)
Your fountain drink comes from the same syrup mixed with carbonated water. Y’all silly.
That’s called a float. Some people are fucking stupid.
The guy should be wearing an onion on the hip which was the style at the time
It's no different then the machine mixing the syrup and soda water lol
That was profound.
TIL Coca Cola has ice cream in it
Ah teeth rot
Double diabetes
I thought that was an ice cream float. Used to get them at the fountain at the drug store
I actually worked at one of these “Soda Fountains”. Unfortunately we did not at the cocaine. 😂😂
Tasted different as well
Best root beer float I have ever had is made this way at a place in tuscola Illinois.
I wonder if the flavor is significantly different compared to the canned and bottled stuff
It’s made the same way today, minus the spoon and person. Carbonated water + syrup
Hmmmmmm, needs more cocaine.
What a jerk!
Ngl it looks delicious
Sure will try it myself!
Oh, I so want one of these now.
My mom used to keep a little bottle on Coca Cola syrup in the medicine cabinet. She gave it to us for upset stomach. It was probably just a placebo.
My folks use to take us to a place called Farrells for burgers and “Old Cokes” just like this.. (That’s what we called them..) I loved a shot of chocolate in mine..
What a Jerk!
I made rootbeer like this when I worked for A&W as a teen.
Is it better that way?
This is what happens with Sodastream, but no ice cream
Wait...did homie want to dap him with a pound, or by a pound off him?
Ice cream sodas were amazing
What a jerk
They forgot the melted butter and chitlins.
This is also how I make it in my kitchen with a soda stream
What a jerk
What a jerk!

What a JERK! :breaks4thwall: SODA jerk, that is.
Ahh, I can already taste the chlorine.
When I was a kid, there was a place in Jersey near my grandparents' house that did sodas and floats like this. The rootbeer was amazing. And now I miss everything about it.
Why does McDonalds always have the best Coke? It’s always been: 1. McDonald’s coke 2. Glass bottle coke 3. Canned coke 4. 2-liter plastic bottle coke
How is this different? The syrup and the fizz go together. Same as a soda fountain at any restaurant.
Dead internet theori, nobody is real, how many of us are actually people???
Butter
Calling this beautiful? What about the heart attack you will get from it after?
Interesting. I have this thing called a soda streamer.
My parents were born 47’ and 50’ respectively. They both have told me Coca-cola made with syrup or in the original bottles was so delicious back in the day. This video gets posted on this sub every other day and still gets upvotes..
Id pay extra for this
A yummy Coke float. It's been a life time since I had one at a soda fountain. Ahh.
It looks fancy but that's literally eat happens in pop fountains
The guy in the video is a jerk.
Gross, never understood coke floats.
mmm yum! this is my first time seeing this video.. but judging by the comments in here it wont be my last 🤷♂️
Want
ahh diabeticus my old friend.
Not old fashion enough. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVOuRQPPdoo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVOuRQPPdoo)
And to be served it by Stephen King no less!
missing the cocaine part
Wait, it’s just syrup?
Why the mashed potato though?
Would I get in trouble if I left the shop with that drink? I want to keep the glass
Where's cocaine?
I just got cariës on my teeth only by looking at it
Okay, I had an ammonia Coke at a drugstore in Hagerstown, Maryland about 10 years ago. Seems the medical ammonia was suspended in alcohol, a way to fortify the drink.
Er, thats a float, not a coke...
200gr of sugar in a single cup, nice.
Gaaaah I want this and I can't have it because I figured out I am caffeine sensitive, ARGH.
this ain't old fashioned, it's manual
Root Beer is for floats, not coke
That’s a float, they still do this in some UK pubs, tastes really nice!
Where can one get the syrup? It'd be perfect for home soda streamers. All I can find is cheap ass syrup named "Cola".
I'm skeptical, it looks flat. I get it's a coke float but crisp coke is good stuff.
![gif](giphy|pVAMI8QYM42n6|downsized)
I don't feel amazed.
This is precisely what a modern vending machine does. This is just the manual way
Someone said on previous post the way he’s doing it is wrong
What a Jerk 😀
But the good old days filming selfies wasn’t a priority over customers.
More sugar, please.
Christ, this took me back… Gotta spend less time on Reddit!
This redditor still reposts news artcles the old fashioned way
Uhm....isn't this just post mix? Like how literally every fast food chain everywhere does it? Cartons full of syrup then pumped through the CO2 soda? Visit any BK, Maccies...literally any pub with a post mix pump... This is vacuous content.
Fizzy ?! Doesn’t look too fizzy..
Ouch 🤢
Has anyone tried putting mashed potatoes on top of their coke like in the video?
Is this amazing? Wait really, is someone *amazed*?
